The Girl Who Ate Everything is quite possibly the best food blog online. The fact that there are thousands, if not millions, of food blogs means that the author must be doing something amazing, but what? What makes this blog better than others? More importantly, what type of food blog is it? Here is just a brief review of The Girl Who Ate Everything.

What You’ll Find on The Girl Who Ate Everything

The Girl Who Ate Everything is a blog that not only posts recipes, but also includes fun stories with each recipe. The author of the blog, Christy, has worked with one of the top food companies in the country (Betty Crocker), while still managing to care for a family of five with one on the way. Her American-style recipes include a variety of dishes, but sweet treats do seem to reign supreme with titles such as Peanut Butter Cheese Ball and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cupcakes. With over 4,000 followers and over 12,000 fans on Facebook, this girl definitely knows how to attract foodies.

What Makes the Blog So Great?

There are a number of reasons why The Girl Who Ate Everything Blog stands out. First of all, the author posts recipes that you would actually make. Instead of looking over the recipe and feeling intimidated or wondering where you’ll find the ingredients, the blog has recipes that everyone can make. The recipes are extremely easy to make, but also sound amazing. Another plus is that the author posts recipes based on the season or upcoming events, such as football season. As if that’s not enough, the blog is laid out so that it’s easy to navigate. You can easily search for previous recipes by the name of the recipe or by searching through the categories. There are even recipes listed at the bottom of each recipe that are similar to the one you’re viewing. Last, but not least, the author keeps readers coming back for more by having fun giveaways.

There are thousands of food blogs online, but many lack the appeal and ease of use that The Girl Who Ate Everything offers. Whether you’re looking for new recipes or the entertainment of reading about a woman raising three small children, with a bun in the oven, in a hectic world, this is one blog you shouldn’t miss. The recipes are fantastic, the stories are fun and the pictures included with the recipes are Grade A food porn. If you love food, you must visit this blog.

I have always been a voracious reader. When I was young, I read everything from Isaac Asimov’s science fiction to V.C. Andrews’ gothic horror/romance novels. However, something changed in me when I read the Diary of Anne Frank. In Frank, I found a friend – an actual, real person who conveyed actual, real life events and feelings. Though my heart ached for her and the experience of putting the diary down when it was over was a painful one, I was impressed with the power of personal revelation. From that moment on, autobiography was my favorite genre. Fortunately, for people like me who revel in true personal accounts of life experiences, the Internet is full of sources for feeding my fancy. Blogs are a hot commodity these days, and the bloggers I like the most are those who get up close and personal. My favorite Blog website is “the Bloggess,” written and maintained by blogger Jenny Lawson. The Bloggess is certainly no Anne Frank, but she feels like a friend nonetheless. Here is why I love the Bloggess, and why everyone should visit her:

The Bloggess is funny. Any time I need a good laugh, I click over to my favorite blog website and read the latest entry. It’s not that Mrs. Lawson lives an extraordinary life. It’s just that she takes even the most common everyday occurrences and finds the humor in them. Even subjects that could be tragic or morose are exposed for all their ridiculousness by the Bloggess – something I’m truly grateful for when I’m looking for a pick-me-up.

The Bloggess is real. She is a wife and a mother, and she does the same ordinary things that all of us do. She just writes about them. And she writes about them frankly, directly, conversationally, and entertainingly. When I read from the Bloggess website, I know there is no pretension. I have visited other “mommy” blogs (after all, I am a mom), and I’ve felt alienated at times. Like, who are these women? June Cleaver? I am a real person, who has real embarrassing moments and who uses real curse words, and the Bloggess speaks to real people like me.

The Bloggess has connections. In addition to an awesome blog roll that will link you to many blogs that are comparably as worthwhile as the Bloggess blog, Jenny Lawson makes wildly entertaining contributions to a number of other sites, including a satirical sex column and a parenting column for the Houston Chronicle. You can find links to all of these from the Bloggess website itself.

If you haven’t checked out the Bloggess yet, then you should head on over there right now – unless you don’t like funny or entertaining stuff. From all I’ve seen on the Internet, nothing quite compares to the quirky humor of the Bloggess, who is “like Mother Teresa, only better.”

These days, it really doesn’t matter what you want to know – whatever it is, you can find it on the Internet. If you would have told me ten years ago that I would be getting financial advice from someone I’d never met, for free, from an entertaining website, I would’ve had a hard time believing it. But the truth is, some of the best, most practical financial knowledge I’ve ever acquired came from a man who gives it out for free, from his very entertaining website. So, where do I go when I need to know where to go for the best interest rates, or how to best lower my credit card payments? I head on over to a finance blog called “Get Rich Slowly.” Here’s why . . .

Slow and steady. I’m a realist. I like the truth served as-is, without the idealism or flowery hype meant to pump me up over an idea that doesn’t really exist, and life experience has taught me that slow and steady wins the race. Get Rich Slowly is a blog based on how things really are – not how we wish they were. Sure, we’d all like to think we could just read some informative articles and turn our new found knowledge into quick cash (and a steady stream of it, too, right?) . . . but that’s just not how it works. I spent most of my twenties in financial denial. I just can’t afford to be anything but practical now, and Get Rich Slowly is the “personal finance blog that makes cents” because it is just that: practical.

Variety. Don’t expect to find a lot of boring candlestick charts and stock reports on Get Rich Slowly. Of course, you can find those basics on this blog, along with info on loans and other types of programs, but there is also so much more. Posts on Get Rich Slowly cover all the bases, including more obscure ideas like the psychology behind being financially successful, and the importance of taking care of your overall health (of which your financial well-being is only a smart part).

Guest bloggers. Mr. Roth features an abundance of qualified guest bloggers to share their knowledge and wisdom, providing a well-rounded approach to keeping readers economically informed.

Get Rich Slowly is listed on Time Magazine’s list of the Top Blogs of 2011, and for good reason. If you are in need of some solid, practical knowledge when it comes to money matters (and who isn’t?), then check out this great site today to start on your path to getting rich, slowly, and staying that way.

“What is your favorite blog?” When asked that question, at first I had a hard time deciding what to answer. There are so many of them In fact, there is now more than 156 million blogs online. There are blogs to suit every interest: dating, politics, finances, parenting, worm growing, and just about any other topic of which you can think. You name it, there’s a blog for it. Even I have a blog. Picking just one blog as my favorite (if I don’t count my own), is not easy. As it turns out, though, my choice of top blog is not an unusual one. In fact, I chose the most popular blog online, the Huffington Post.

A Little Huffington Post Background

Arianna Huffington, Kenneth Lerer, and Jonah Peretti founded the Huffington Post in 2005. It specializes in posting opinion pieces, analysis, and breaking news and in just a few short years erupted into a wildly popular website. In February 2011 AOL bought the Huffington Post for $315 million and appointed Arianna Huffington president and editor-in chief.

Using paid and unpaid bloggers, this website offers a collection of blogs and news in a broad range of topics. It covers everything from life and style to theology and politics, and plenty of stuff in between. Over 9,000 bloggers contribute to the site, making it a magnet for blog readers of all types.

Why I Like It

The reason The Huffington Post appeals to me is that it offers such variety. No matter what I’m in the mood to read about, there’s something interesting at the Huffington Post. If I’m feeling domestic and want to think about cooking or decorating, it’s available. If I’m in a more serious mood and want info about current politics or financial news or recruitment services and their impact on the unemployment rate, it’s there. Need a good laugh? You’ll find it in the humorous blogs at Huffington.

Visiting The Huffington Post is just easier than cruising to a multitude of sites for each topic I’m interested in. To top it off, I can find breaking news there and the blog writers’ opinions often coincide with my rather liberally tinged frame of mind.

Criticisms of The Huffington Post

Some have criticized the Huffington Post for being too liberal, for using unpaid bloggers, and other supposed flaws. Some say Arianna Huffington is a self-centered, egotistical control freak who sold out to AOL for personal gain and self-promotion. Just like the writers for the Huffington Post, those people are allowed to state their opinions.

Their opinions, however, have not changed my opinion nor apparently that of millions of other people, because of all the blogs online, the Huffington Post remains the frontrunner.

I don’t know one person – myself included – who couldn’t benefit from some outside perspective when it comes to finance. After all, money management is such an integral part of life management, that how can we ever know too much about managing money? These days, one of the best places to go for sound financial advice on anything from savings to personal cash loans is the Internet. And I’m not talking payday advance sites or stuffy financial planner sites. I’m talking about finance blogs. A good finance blog is worth its weight in gold (okay, so a blog doesn’t weigh anything, but you catch my drift), but not all blogs are created equal. I want to recommend to you my favorite blog: Len Penzo Dot Com. Here’s why:

Penzo’s philosophy and the definition of responsibility. Len Penzo’s blog is “the offbeat personal finance blog for responsible people.” It is Penzo’s definition of “responsible people” that really makes me a true believer. As he says in his bio page, he is about being “personally responsible,” and not just about money and finances, but about every aspect of our lives. I believe personal accountability is the most important factor in determining someone’s success in life, so I really appreciate this assertion. Penzo makes it a point to say that anyone can achieve financial well-being through personal responsibility – no matter what income they are working with. I completely agree with this philosophy; it makes Penzo a credible guy.

Unboring writing. Let’s face it: it would be all too easy for a finance blog to put its readers to sleep. But Len Penzo Dot Com is different. Penzo is funny, and honest . . .and he definitely tells it like it is, in an entertainingly unconventional way. If you want proof, just check out the titles of his posts, which include “Why Big Spenders Are Terrible in Bed,” “Dirty Harry Teaches Us a Lesson in Opportunity Costs,” and “Caught Ya My Teenager’s Sly Attempt to Get His Own Credit Card.”

The parenting thing. I’m a parent, and I like to read what other parents have to say . . . because as every parent knows, parenting is a really confusing gig. When I stumble across a blogger who is as open and forthcoming as Penzo, I can’t help but want to hear about those parenting experiences outside of my own.

Here’s a guy out in Guam, who goes about putting up a blog, creates an e-book and gives it all out for free. Why, then read fro yourself why. This is the epitome of blogging and the social net itself. where information is free and free to use. From living day by day in this recession, fixing your financial debts and many more Leo Babauta has it all. He takes a more positive look at life where quality of life is with the person living it and not the corporation who rules your life.
In his writings he says life and in fact blogging is more of a free form of expression though he wants to earn a living with the sales of his e-book, he allows people to make copies, give copies and whatever they want to do with it. This is the truth about the internet where nothing is safe. He takes on the rights of the people against the rights of the corporation emphasizing on the fact that so-called anti-piracy laws tend to focus more on the profit of the company behind the artist and not the artist himself. Everybody should live life to the fullest using technology to spread the good word on how to do so and this might be the best of the best in living.
Everything under the sun that is not taxing on nature, life and many other things can be found. What’s nice is to discover the so-called Browse side-bar where the author created (most skillfully at that) a selection or group of entries that exemplifies the blog and allows one to best appreciate the posts contained within. The Beginners Guide, takes you on a list of suggested readings to better understand the purpose and vision of the author making it one of the friendliest blogs I’ve ever seen. Sure there are thousands of them around and all everybody is concerned with is the latest stuff, he doesn’t care and focuses on his mission from step one. More power Mr. Leo Babauta and Thank You for your wonderful work, truly a breath of fresh air amongst the wayward web or internet as many call it.

To some people, calling a Moleskine a “notebook” is like calling Leonardo Da Vinci “some guy who can draw.” Moleskine has a long tradition of being used by artists and thinkers, and for its modern fans, its pages invite them to dip into a deep well of creativity and inspiration.

In this blog, ‘Skine Art’ you will see some of the works made by Moleskine fans all over the world. It’s pretty amazing. The posts, showcasing work submitted by different artists — both professionals and hobbyists — represent an amazing variety of styles and themes.

There are stunning examples of pen and ink illustrations, as well as watercolors and even mixed media and collage. Some also bravely include pages that contain excerpts of painfully honest journal entries.

In a way, this blog invites everyone to be a voyeur into the private thoughts and the creative visions of people around the world. Don’t go there with a critic’s eye, because this is no gallery of artists who claim they are the best. Rather, it is a sharing of a passion for paper and creative freedom.

At the very least, it will inspire even non-Moleskine fans to explore the possibilities of what happens when good paper, good ideas, and a freshly sharpened pencil can do. Of course, not everyone will be able to produce such masterpieces, especially on a first try.

But it’s not about being Leonardo Da Vinci (or “that guy who can draw”). It’s about being yourself — and recording some of that in a journal. Maybe it’ll be a Moleskine, or a regular notebook. In any case, the most extraordinary thing is discovering the artist in yourself.

There are a growing number of web comics online and a lot of these are quite notable for having exceptional art and wonderful writing. In fact, there are comics that can compete with what is being printed in the dailies.

One of the best online comics that I know of is Questionable Content. The web site is owned and operated by Jeph Jacques. The comic revolves around the life of Marten and his friends. It updates five days a week and each episode Jeph gives you a peek in to the life of these people. This is not trite comic, the script is very well written with really natural dialogue. I love the fact that Marten and his friends are into the same kind of music I’m into. Jeph even gives band recommendations on his notes, which accompany each new episode.

Be warned though, Questionable Content can be quite addictive.

It’s called pepakura.

Pepakura is a paper craft where one creates three dimensional figures from paper. It’s a bit like origami, but unlike the ancient Japanese art of paper art, the figures are not representational. Pepakura figures look like the real thing. If you create a bear, it’s a bear that you’ll see. Pepakura figures can be made by downloading sheets that already contain the figures that you need to cut out and then paste. It’s deceptively simple. But there’s a level of mastery needed to make really beautiful figures. The figures you can make can range from animals, to bikes to spaceships. I’m even making a Millennium Falcon pepakura figure.

The site is surprisingly written by a Spanish guy, Hector Garcia, who has been living in Japan for a couple of years which provides us with interesting insight into Japanese Culture. Now why would you want to know a bout Japan from the view of another national, well first, the Japanese have many cultural differences that cannot be easily explained till you see them first hand. The language barrier is also a very difficult one to bridge for their language may not have direct translational equivalents in the English language so bridging the gap is very difficult for outsiders. Japan is a secretive society in a sense that there may never be a true manifestation or way of interpreting Japanese culture that from the eyes of the Japanese. More and more Japanese are learning the Western way of life and to that extent we have seen their technological prowess in all aspects of daily life.
From the best cars, dancing robots, computers and more, they have some of the best minds in the world in a country that is an archipelago, broken into several islands that makes up the country we know as Japan. The diversity of Japanese culture is very unique for crossing from area to area may give you totally different flavors of their unique culture. As the author has found from living there, life isn’t always as simple as it is for like the importance of pride in their work. Employee’s are less important than the company as well as their extreme value for honor which cannot be matched elsewhere in the world. Japan is an utterly peaceful place even with the gangs and the infamous Yakuza who respect culture and values their honor. People are friendly once you get thought the difficult language barrier.
The Japanese are some of the politest people on earth and they always got he extra mile for their customers. May it be in the airport, or on the streets of their major cities, or even the small remote towns, people will always look to you with a smile. Kirainet.com is available in the author’s native tongue as well as in English which allows us to see his experiences and interpretation of the Japanese way of life, as it has in it’s long history.
