Regenerative Medicine: Can we Regrow Our Organs and Limbs?

Have you ever wondered how certain creatures such as newts and salamanders have the ability to regrow their limbs after becoming detached? Many scientists have been researching this phenomenon in hopes to apply this regeneration process to human beings. But have they found anything? The answer is yes. But, is regeneration such as this actually possible? Scientists have just discovered why the regeneration occurs in creatures such as newts and now look towards the future to see if there is any way we could use these new findings in order to regenerate our own limbs.What scientists have recently found in newts is a certain protein which causes them to regrow the detached limb. Newts are members of the Salamandridae family and can be found in North America, Europe, and Asia. They have the ability to regenerate limbs, eyes, spinal cords, hearts, intestines, and upper and lower jaws. All of this regeneration going on in these little creatures has remained a mystery for some time. But all of the recent research has paid off as the protein discovered, called nAG, has been found to come from nerve and skin cells. This protein is what creates a mass of undifferentiated cells capable of growth and regeneration called blastema. The blastema are the cells which actually regrow the severed body parts in these animals. Blastemata is normally found in an organism’s early development stages such as embryonic states. So it figures that creatures such as salamanders would still have these cells as opposed to a human or even a frog as salamanders are still considered as much more ‘primitive’ creatures as opposed to more developed species. So what does all this mean to us if these cells are only found in ‘primitive’ creatures? This question is what researchers are just now asking each other. Is it possible that human beings can actually utilize these cells in order to regrow a heart or a severed fingertip? All of this runs into the issue of regenerative medicine and stem cell research where there have been many heated arguments on the topics of such regeneration processes recently. Will such findings, if put to use in human beings, place a burden on many peoples morals and beliefs? Or will these new findings help boost our human existence in a positive manner? These questions will inevitably arise as scientists work around the clock to gain even more in-depth insight on the understanding of the molecular communication processes and more in order to find out what exactly is happening that is causing the regeneration so that they may possibly reproduce these systems.Of course, no one really knows how far or how long this research will go to gain a clear understanding of this segment in regenerative medicine. But, if creatures such as newts are able to turn their own cells into undifferentiated stem cells and then back into mature tissue again, then what do you think humans will be like if we were able to grasp and apply this amazing ability? We are a long, long way from realizing any of this blastema activity in any human context, but the findings are there. So, is this is just another small step into the future of human regenerative medicine and advancement of the human species? Or is it merely a dead-ended finding that can only be utilized in creatures such as the newt and salamander? Only time will tell and scientists will always be searching for answers. Video Resumes: Are They Really Hurting You?

Video resumes seem to be gaining a lot of media exposure these days. Many of the websites that provide the video resume services have really been pushing the need to have such an ‘edge’ over the rest of the competition. So what do the potential employers really think about these new services? Well, after hearing from prospective employers searching for applicants, one did mention the new and well-hyped video resume. However, he did not mention anything wonderful and amazing about the individuals he observed. He only mentioned the humorous things about them versus any serious attributes to the individuals on the videos. Some things mentioned about the videos is just the lack of preparation, annoying habits and gestures, terrible quality of editing which makes the video hard to watch, as well as the common embarrassing problems associated with ‘home videos’. The question now is: are the video resumes really hurting the job applicants making them rather than giving them that competitive ‘edge’ they are supposed to have?Many of us have already seen, or at least heard about, the video of the young man applying for a job on Wall Street as a banker where he bench presses very impressive amounts of weight, plays tennis and, well, you get the picture. This seems to be taken to the extreme, but it was actually supposed to be a message to the employer about his sense of discipline. Oops! I guess they misunderstood him as he did not receive any attention except from the news media. The attention he received was only from a mere entertainment standpoint. Many of the videos that are available do indeed appear to be more of an embarrassing moment than that of a competitive edge. The concept of the video resume seems to be quite impressive at first glance. And maybe after a little more time, it will become a norm in hiring new employees. But the fact of the matter today is that employers are not really looking towards video resumes at this point.What is a person to do in order to get a competitive advantage in the job market then? First, a video is not going to really show the employer any more about your accounting skills than what your job experience is like. The best way to really be ‘seen’ and experienced is through face-to-face contact. This is easy for me to say, but the employers that I know do attend industry events regularly and meet new people as well as prospective employees regularly. There is no really easy way to get the job that a person has always wanted. There will always be competition. And with plenty of competition there will always be no substitute for hard work in the industry you have chosen. Tennis skills are great, but only if that is where you can meet the individuals who can really help you get ahead in many cases. Gaining any kind of experience in the field a person is really after is what the employers are searching for. Overall, the hiring experience can be difficult for both the employer and the applicant. Both sides have needs to be filled. The employer in the IT department just needs someone who can handle the tasks and problem solving skills needed to complete the job in the most excellent manner. The video resumes have not been much help to him as they only show individuals talking about themselves and how they can function. However, when the employer does call in an employee for an interview, they also have them complete a test which really shows the applicants’ problem solving abilities. So, with this being said, will video resumes really take a competitive position in the resume market? Hollywood has been using them for years now in the form of video headshots. But, then again, these would be used for show business jobs where looks really matter. Focus on building experience and a great resume, as well as attending those industry events and soon job seekers will find many more wonderful opportunities before them. Now that would be quite a competitive advantage.

Love and Marriage: Robots Designed to Replace Humans in Next Five Years?

Imagine the year 2040, our energy source is outer space and nearly everyone is happily married. However, a normal person cannot tell one thing by looking at many of these beautiful spouses. They cannot see that many of them are robots. True to form and a perfect match for the person beside them. Is this the future of happy relationships? Many scientists claim that it is. At first it may seem a bit strange to the average person, but there are, in fact, individuals who see this as something they would be seriously interested in if and when it appears within the next five years or so. Some of the new developers are Japanese scientists who are naming the new robot android Repliee Q1 Expo. She breathes like a human, flutters her eyelids like a human and even moves like a real human! The robot has over 42 actuators. But as I have come to understand, it is merely the tip of the iceberg as of present time.Who in the world would marry such a robot? Who knows. But there is evidence out there that there are indeed plans to develop more humanlike robots for the purpose of assisting humans with their every, and I mean every, emotional and physical need. I sit here now writing about this after doing much research on the subject today and realize that it may be quite accepted as a normal undertaking in the future where man will have the option to be with and marry whomever he or she pleases. This does bring up the question of ethics which is indeed a raging topic involving these sorts of things. But would it really be a bad thing for individuals who cannot actually find a partner who either loves them back, can put up with their personality or mental stability, or just cannot appreciate the way their appearance naturally is?Developers today are putting the pieces to the puzzle together for just this reason. They want to create a robot that ‘bonds’ with humans and provides all that our individual urges require. Now, this being said, I would say that is a marvelous idea for many of those who have problems socially or are displeased with what their current relationships provide them both physically and emotionally. Could a robot be an acceptable way to ‘fill in the gaps’ in relationships in the future? What if these ‘devices’ did actually come into play and replaced items such as the ever popular vibrator, dolls, prostitutes and such? What would this do to the future of our human existence? It is indeed truth that the technology is here to create such a robotic rendezvous. In 2006, Henrik Christensen, who is the founder of the European Robotics Research Network, predicted that people will be having sex with robots within five years. As there are already lifelike items a person can buy, now all they have to do is add some electronics and a little software, make some major adjustments and presto-whammo…you’ve got ‘love’ in the air. In contrast to that last statement, there are many skeptics on the subject, including many roboticists such as those a the Georgia Institute of Technology who do not think human-robot marriages will take place any time soon. So what is to come of these alternative ‘adjustments’ to our existence? Only time will tell, with a little ‘fine tuning’ and good hardware. After reading several articles on this subject, I have become quite intrigued by what these ‘walking iPhones’ will inevitably provide us fellow homosapians in the future. First thing you need is to convert the your video file to MP4 video file. There is a lot of software available in the Internet and most of these software programs are free. You can simply use google to search and result a huge list for you to access the hundreds of free MP4 video conversion software programs. Simply type or key in “free MP4 video converter” and you should simply be able to find what you need and want. The software’s are also easy to operate and follows, they usually have a step-by-step procedure but usually you wouldn’t need them. Once you have converted your video files to MP4 video format, all you need to do next is to copy or download the MP4 video on to your personal psp device.

With the use of the USB cable, connect your personal psp device to your personal computer. Link your personal psp device and personal computer by pressing the “X” button. Once you see psp device on the hard drive, open the psp memory card and search for the psp folder. Once you are in psp folder, search for the MP_Root folder and open the 100mnv01 folder. Then simply start copying the MP4 video files to the 100mnv01 folder. Just do a simple copy and paste and then you are good to go. It really simple, anyone master how to download your favorite MP4 video files onto your personal psp device.

These applications are useful even for music videos and movies. Once you have a psp compatible video file such as MP4 or mpeg4, you can simply repeat the copy and paste to your personal psp device. Just remember to copy them into the correct folder mentioned above.

Don’t limit your personal psp device to just games, enhance their use to entertain yourself for the endless time you have to spend doing nothing. There is a frantic discussions in various forums about the Apple iPhone battery. People are vomiting their concern about its battery longevity.

In one of the discussion, one purchaser complained, “I am earnestly reading all I can about this battery because I am very disappointed in it's "life". I now own a charger at home, in my car, and the sync in my office. If I do not keep it plugged in at all times it is dead at 5:00 PM each day. Either I have a defective battery, it's the worst I have ever owned, or I have done or am doing something wrong.”

It is worth mentioning that the disgruntled customer bought the phone on the opening day of the release. “I leave it in a charge cradle every night, I have wi-fi off, no blue tooth etc. I do use the web from time to time and I do check email. I seldom send email unless I have a wi-fi close by. So other than talking on the phone I do not think I use the other features enough to kill the battery” said the buyer.

According to the Apple iPhone concern on its battery issue, it says “Most lithium-ion batteries use a fast charge to charge your device to 80% battery capacity, then switch to trickle charging. That’s about two hours of charge time to power an iPod to 80% capacity, then another two hours to fully charge it, if you are not using the iPod while charging. You can charge all lithium-ion batteries a large but finite number of times, as defined by charge cycle.”

It elaborates further, “A charge cycle means using all of the battery’s power, but that doesn’t necessarily mean a single charge.”

How to Maximize Power Use

The length of time your battery will power your device depends on how you use it. For instance, watching a DVD will use up your notebook battery’s power more quickly than simple word processing. You can follow some easy steps to maximize your notebook, iPod, or iPhone battery life.

Holding a Nokia N95 you wonder, what is in your possession – a camcorder, a dynamic atlas, a mp3 player or a mini PC?

The handset comes with a cool dual-slider mechanism. Slide on way and the buttons for the standard phone application is reserved, while on sliding the other way, all the multimedia keys are shown. Indeed a good way to differentiate the applications. The handset also features an impressive 2.8 inches screen. The screen is of high resolution and makes a perfect platform to view pictures, texts and images.

One of the most impressive things about Nokia N95 is its GPS navigation system. It includes maps of around 100 countries, which are fully loaded with 2D and 3D animations. Also, there is a voice instruction that provides guidance. Besides giving the route, which was searched, the device also provides other information like weather, places of interests, shopping complex, hospitals etc.

Other thing that makes this device a cut-above-the-rest, is its enormous 5MP camera. The camera comes with auto-exposure, auto-focus and a white balance adjustment. Such is the capability of this device, that the videos come out DVD like. The N95 will let you record video at full VGA level at up to 30 frames per second. For people who would want to share their shoots, the device allows photo blogging as well.

Many security cameras do not record well in the dark. This implies that a slinky presence can get away with any deed as long as the dark provides a shield. This is where a security camera with motion sensor comes in. The motion sensor triggers an automatic response as soon as it picks up a movement in its vicinity. Some of these cameras come equipped with floodlights that power up as soon as a motion is registered, flooding the area with light and catching the culprit in the act. This is further enhanced by the fact that a security camera with motion sensor often offers a connection to a TV or computer monitor. As soon as the sensor is triggered, images of the perimeter can be captured immediately.

A security camera with motion sensor is most of the time used to detect human presence. As such, it has been configured to capture any human movement around it. For this purpose, the sensor uses an infrared- commonly called IR- illuminator. A security camera with motion sensor uses PIR - passive infrared- detectors. Humans with a body temperature of ninety-three degrees Fahrenheit emit infrared energy, its wavelength between nine and ten micrometers. PIR sensors are calibrated to pick up any wavelength between eight and twelve micrometers. The sensor is designed to pick up on rapid changes in IR energy, as when a person is moving. The sensor device itself is a basic one that works under the principle of a photosensor, which picks up on changes in the amount of light in an area when an emitted light beam is crossed.

Setup for a security camera with motion sensor is usually fairly easy. When connected to a surveillance system, it integrates well with other components to provide increased security. The feeds from the camera can be viewed on any monitor, a TV, or a computer screen. The images can also be recorded through a VCR or DVR for later viewing. Weatherproof, this type of camera can be used both indoor and outdoor, in a temperature range of fourteen to one hundred and twenty two degrees Fahrenheit. It also features a built-in microphone and wide angle lens.

Luckily, the lack of durability has been rectified with the newer version. Dropping the PSP on the ground will not result in a malfunction. I am not advocating throwing a brand new PSP into a minefield to test its toughness, but it is definitely more sturdy than the first PSP. The analog stick now has better responsiveness. A welcome addition is that the speakers and wi-fi switch are now moved to the top of the PSP. You can charge the PSP via a USB port. The Ram has been doubled; this makes load times immensely faster. There is also a much lighter and energy efficient battery that is 1200 amps. The original PSP has 2200 amps. The new PSP is 33 % lighter and 19 % slimmer than the original PSP, and it is much more user friendly. Another alteration to the PSP how it feels in your hands. There is a glistening chrome texture that makes it feel more extravagant. This definitely goes a long way, as this design reduces hand fatigue. Gamers will also notice a UMD button that allows you to open and close the UMD tray. The battery life is more than double what it used to be; moreover, the new PSP can run up to six hours without any difficulty. In addition, there is a headphone jack that is usable for headphones. My favorite feature with the PSP has to be the 480 i and 480 p video and audio output. This lets players enjoy PSP games and movies on their television! It is possible to see PSP games and movies in HD; provided, people have a high definition television. As incredible as the PSP is, it is not without its faults. One thing that comes to mind is the directional pad. It can get marginally slippery (especially if you have sweaty fingers) after playing for several hours straight. Something else that really irked me was the UMD slot. I found the UMD tray to be somewhat bothersome, and it is time consuming to put a UMD in the PSP. It appeared like Sony did not put much thought into implementing it. Overall, the PSP is more aesthetically pleasing than when the PSP first made its debut. The new PSP is more than just a pretty face. If people can overlook the fairly insignificant mishaps with the PSP, they will have an amusing gaming experience. Unlike the Apple iPhone, the new PSP has both style and substance.

When you first hear the phrase "cost effective" and "home automation" just do not go in the same breath. Afterall it is not rare that home automation costs can reach up to several hundreds of thousands of dollars. So you are going to be happy to hear what I am about to say.

Indulge me for a moment.

It is imperative that you do your home work into the different kinds of home automation manufacturers lines available before choosing one to buy in. Some of the cheaper home automation systems rely on technology that seems to work sometimes than not all.

Some of themore expensive higher end products have such expensive programming fees that go with them that could climb up to $40, just to program the darn thing. (Then you need to add in the design costs, home automation equipment purchase, & installation fees.)

So therefore it only makes sense to choose an affordable home automation set up that will allow you to start off with a simple controller and then allow you to build on it a little at a time.

We have to start somewhere, so why not with a remote control for your home theater system. Instead of Putting all of your money in one of those smart universal remote controls--
For just a little bit more you could own a home automation control device, that not only communicates with your Large screen TV, Surround Sound Receiver, & Satellite box it can look at your DVD & search the internet for the jacket cover art & show it on your television screen.

Whereas you used to have 22 remote controls you now have one home automation remote that can seamlessly tie in all of you home theater equipment with a single push of a button.

But what if you had only bought one of those faancy smart remotes-- you would be limited to working surround sound equipment only.

But thats not the case if you had invested in a genuine home automation controller. Your home theater controller will allow you to growexpand your home automation abilities a little at a time. When the time comes that you when you get a raise or bonus from your job to invest a little more on your home automation set up then you can add something such as 4" wi-fi or Ethernet touch screens & keypads. The best thing though is that you can actually add features like integrating your securtiy system, hvac controls, Music through out the home, and even dim your lights, a little at a time as you can afford it.

One home automation controller can now oversee all of these devices and cause a series of prescheduled events to occur with a click of a button.
For example, when you get up in the morning instead of a ringing alarm clock waking you... you awaken to the sound of soothing music, the heat warms up the room because the floor will be ice cold to walk on, your electric shades open to allow warming sunrays to enter and warm you & your TV comes on with Regis!

Think about that for a moment, an affordable home automation system that you can upgrade home automation control modules to as you can afford them. This way your setup can grow with you as you can afford to do it instead of having to settle for less features in a system or having to put off having your home automation system all together.

VoIP is sweeping across many companies in North America and Europe. The reason for the switch is naturally money savings but how can the average consumer benefit from VoIP and more importantly what is it?

VoIP or Voice over Internet Protocol is the technology that allows for the routing of phone calls over the internet. To the average consumer what this amounts to is the ability to make free calls over broadband connections while retaining many features that a traditional telephone line provides. Increasing numbers of providers are appearing, providing a varied range of options on the same premise of giving users the ability to talk over the internet.

When the technology first emerged it may have only been possible to talk to people with the same service. Increasingly however, many service providers offer ways to call any other user as well as phoning land lines and mobile numbers. But considering that VoIP provides the same service as a phone, many might wonder why they should make the switch.

Well, the answer lies in money. VoIP calls are almost always cheaper than traditional phone services, especially with regards to international calls, and if you speak to people on the same provider, there is often no cost at all!

Some providers also offer an option for users to purchase an internet phone to use when they are making calls and ways to bypass traditional phone lines altogether. There are adaptors available to allow clients to use their VoIP lines without even having their computer on. Most providers also offer numbers where you can receive calls just like any other phone.

So, where are the differences and are there any extras? This will most likely depend on the services that your provider of choice offers and what you are willing to spend if they cost any extra. There are advantages to making calls over the internet especially if you are in front of a computer. This makes video calls and online chatting possible. VoIP smartly combines the facilities a computer provides with the conversation comfort of a phone, plus users can easily share files and pass on other information over the same connection that they use to talk.

The reliability of VoIP is rapidly increasing and more users are getting a better quality of service across almost all providers. As more people in the world make the switch, people and businesses in the UK will follow and enjoy much smaller phone bills due to VoIP.

According to various industry sources, it appears as if the new iPods are selling incredibly well. Indeed, many skeptics doubted whether the Apple’s new iPod video would be an instant success due to a lack of significant content and the fact that the video isn’t as high of quality as it probably could be. However, despite these potential drawbacks, early reports indicate that Apple is going to be seeing more profits than ever now that the new video iPod has hit the shelves.

The 5th Generation Apple iPod is definitely pushing technological boundaries by combining video capabilities into the mp3 world. Future success was undoubted, but such quick success was indeed looked upon as being not as likely. However, analysts report positively for Apple. “In our recent proprietary checks with industry and channel sources, we believe sales of 5G iPods are coming in ahead of expectations,” American Technology Research analyst Shaw Wu said in a research note. “In some cases, in Apple’s own channels, including its physical stores and online store, we believe 5G iPods are surprisingly outselling even the very popular iPod nano.”

Businessweek has also pointed out that in most cases there is a 5-7 day delay in fulfilling the orders of the 5th Generation Apple iPod due to a constraint in supplies. Apparently, Apple is looking for a second supplier of LCD screens to relieve this constraint and get more iPods onto store shelves.

There are many places where you can find iPod video downloads. The most established is iTunes and it is definitely not a stranger to you. iTunes now have more than 200 TV shows and you can download each episode of your favorite video at $1.99. Others like Amazon and Walmart are also popular sites to find video downloads.

We all know that hybrid cars still need gasoline to be completely dependable. Electric cars on the other hand, suffer from short range and require significant amounts of time to recharge their batteries. So what's the answer? It's really quite simple, a "modulized" electric car.

Picture yourself driving across the country in an electric car. After 200 miles staring at pavement, your battery gauge is nearing the recharge mark. It is time to pull off the interstate and find a fuel station. Fortunately, like most exit ramps, a gas station is right in the area. You pull in the driveway and roll right past the gas pumps. Instead, you continue up to an empty spot on a large rack where hundreds of identical depleted car batteries are sitting. You push a button on the dash and three seconds later your battery is disconnected and unloaded from your car. It automatically locks into the rack and begins recharging. The small auxiliary battery in your car is now powering the entire vehicle. You back out and then drive to a fully charged battery in the next rack. The batteries are constructed in a "V-shaped" fashion. You misjudge the drive-up alignment by over three feet, but the battery still slides into your engine compartment and locks safely into place. Once again you are fully charged and ready to role. The entire evolution takes half the time needed to pump a tank of gasoline. You wave to the guy who pulled off the interstate directly in front of you while he continues fueling his SUV. You will be miles down the road before he gets back on the highway.

How can the above scenario become reality? What if each new electric vehicle automatically came with two full size batteries? One is always in the car and a second in a charging rack anywhere in the country. If all the batteries were standardized to fit every type of vehicle, we could simply interchange them as needed with any other charged battery out there. Fuel stations could have racks upon racks of batteries being charged as they are swapped out. If we had 200 million cars on the road, there would be 400 million batteries to keep them moving. We could pay a nominal recharge fee to the fuel stations each time we took one.

Currently most of our electrical energy comes from burning coal. Fortunately the US happens to have enormous quantities under its soil. Power plants are currently using this resource along with cleaner burning technologies. It would not be practical to expect a "coal-burning car" to utilize coal cleanly, but a large power plant could. Converting this black energy to run electric vehicles would certainly help improve the environment and get us completely off imported oil. We could also install solar panels all over the exterior of these electric cars to help use a little of that, "green" free energy from the sun. Every little bit helps and it would have an immediate positive impact on our wallets. Just think, when your car is sitting in the driveway all day, it's actually gaining fuel.

Obviously the logistics surrounding the batteries will need to be worked out. For example, it may be necessary to create a rule where a car owner cannot pick up a charged battery unless a depleted one is dropped off first, thereby keeping the stockpile of batteries up. Since the overwhelming majority of vehicles in this country are actually sitting stationary at any given time, the small percentage currently on the road will have an ample number of charged batteries for immediate use. Another issue may be in keeping batteries strategically placed around the country. We could give the oil companies something to do by moving them where needed.

The real trick behind all of this isn't a car that practically changes the battery for you. Most auto engineers can probably design one in a matter of days. The trick is making a car that's as convenient for us as gas-burning vehicles are today. It's a statistical fact that we as consumers like things easy, so let's keep that in mind while building the next generation of vehicles.

All right big three, I've given you the idea, now run with it before those countries on the far side of the planet scoop you for the second century in a row!

GPS tracking devices have a multitude of uses, the majority of them are mostly beneficial. However, global positioning satellite system devices sometimes involve privacy issues that can, at times, lead to controversy. Fleet Vehicles and GPS Tracking Devices You'll find that there are many companies both large and small that use global positioning tracking devices to follow the location of their vehicles. The majority of trucking companies have the capability to tell you where all of their vehicles are at any given point in time. In a similar manner, taxi companies as well as repair companies have the capability to monitor their trucks location so that they can dispatch them in a more efficient manner. However, there are people that believe this gives the companies who choose to use GPS tracking devices more information than is needed about their drivers. For instance, trucking companies have the capability to know how much time a trucker has spent on the road, when and for what period of time he stops for sleep or meals and if he has taken any unscheduled side trips. Dispatchers at these companies may be privy to personal information that is none of their business, such as a driver having lunch each day at the same place, and it is not his residence. Some individuals are of the opinion that this constitutes an invasion of personal privacy. Teens and GPS Tracking Devices There are some parents who use global positioning tracking devices to know the location of their teens. They may download global positioning system tracking software technology to the mobile phones of their teens, or they may place a global positioning system tracking device somewhere in their car. The teenagers may or may not be aware that their parents are monitoring them. There is likely quite a few teens who believe that this is and invasion of their privacy. GPS Tracking Devices and Surveillance Does the thought run through your mind if your spouse having an affair? Curious to find out what your brother-in-law is up to? If you place a hidden GPS tracking device on their vehicle, you will at least know where they are going in their car. You may have to come to your own conclusions as to what they are actually doing there. There are many people who would agree that this would be an invasion of privacy and quite a few would be offended if they either knew or suspected you were tracking them. Things get a little more involved when police use GPS tracking devices. Global positioning tracking devices have been used by police to successfully solve crimes. An example of the conflict between serving justice and invasion of privacy; say the police put a GPS tracking device on the car of a person they suspect of being a murderer. They successfully track the the murderer as he unknowingly leads them to the victims grave. Is this an invasion of privacy? Should law enforcement officials be allowed to use global positioning tracking devices this way? If, for instance, the police need to obtain a search warrant from a judge to use a GPS tracking device, should a private citizen be able to use this technology without a warrant? Should the average private citizen even be allowed to use global positioning tracking device technology at all? At times the right to privacy and the right to information are in conflict, this is one of those time. All technology has moral and ethical implications that we as individuals and society as a whole has to grapple with. The right to privacy is the ethical dilemma we are forced to deal with when we use GPS tracking device technology.

Christmas as a child was always spent building up to the big day when you would wake early, rush to the tree and start shaking the boxes underneath it that mysteriously appeared during the night before. In years gone by we got excited about our 16-bit state of the art Super Nintendos and MegaDrives, only for the unpacking and plugging-in to create a divide between the gamers and non-gamers in the house. This has largely remained the status quo whenever a new console or game was given as a gift, but surely the ideal would be for the whole family to gather round and enjoy it together?

These past few Christmases have bucked the trend with the release of SingStar and Buzz games on the Sony PlayStation 2, not to mention the success story of the Wii. In each of these cases it seems that the main barrier to non-gamers, namely the complicated control systems, has been bridged by innovations in user inputs. For SingStar anyone can pick up the microphone and start singing - the main problem lies in whether they can sing in tune!

What was seen as a haven for gamers became an accessible forum for budding singers who had their sights set on the pop music industry. Practising alongside their idols, every singer is comfortable with a microphone in their hands and the success of SingStar proves this.

It was this innovation that led to the creation of a new input to accompany the Buzz series of games. For anyone that has ever watched a quiz show and thought they'd be able to do better, now is their chance. Buzz, with its simplified controller and multiple rounds of random questions based on TV game show formats, has allowed all the family to gather around the TV and be a part of the entertainment. It is not uncommon to see parents revelling in the delight of triumphing over their children in an arena normally renowned as belonging to the kids. Since the original music quiz version there have been another seven Buzz titles (with more in the pipeline) including versions specifically for younger children, realising the goal of inclusive gaming across generations.

Not to be out done and taking things one step further, Nintendo developed their most recent console with this 'gaming for the family' idea at the core of the project. The end result was the release of the Nintendo Wii with its distinctive controller and advertising campaign all new to the video game market.

We've all seen the adverts that focus on lots of people of all ages, genders and nationalities playing, especially family groups all enjoying the game of choice, but the focus is not on the game anymore, it is on the people playing. This is no gimmick; the Nintendo Wii has outsold its Sony and Microsoft counterparts and bares no sign of losing popularity any time soon.

On the internet you do not have to look far before you come across forums extolling the Wii for bringing new avenues of joy to family get togethers. From pensioners to youngsters, the intuitive controls have brought the whole family to the video game arena and it's been such a success that one chain of retirement homes in the US has implemented the Nintendo Wii games system into the everyday life of residents after a grandchild brought in their new toy to show their grandma!

It has been more than twelve years since the Japanese consumer electronics giant Sony has entered the gaming space. Since their first gaming console offering, Sony PlayStation has been successful in craving out a special name in the game player's niche. Till recently, PlayStation's legacy remained untouchable and its leadership barely challenged. However, with the launch of seventh generation gaming consoles from two other major player in the league, namely Microsoft and Nintendo, Sony PlayStation lost good grounds in terms of market share and brand loyalty.

Their latest seventh generation gaming console – the Sony PlayStation 3 seeks to win back lost grounds. The PlayStation 3 was first launched in Japan – the company's home ground on November 11, 2006, with the North American release coming a mere six days later on November 17, 2006. The system was then released in Europe and Australasia on March 23, 2007. Right from day one of its launch, the gaming console gained enormous popularity among all gamers around the world. According to Media Create, 81,639 PS3 systems were sold within 24 hours of its introduction in Japan. Initially, the Sony PlayStation 3 was available in two configurations – 20GB and 60 GB. However, the 20GB module was discontinued after a while due to lack of demands and was replaced by an even higher 80GB module.

The PlayStation 3 is based on open and publicly available application programming interfaces. The PlayStation 3 includes the ability to store different user profiles, explore down loaded photos, play music and movies from the hard drive, compatibility for a USB keyboard and mouse for additional aid in navigation through its user interface and computer like game play, and a full fledged web browser. These features and options gives a Sony PlayStation 3 user the freedom to diversify the usage of the gaming console apart from its primary function – to play high quality video games.

It is worth mentioning the PSP is currently available in two forms in Japan: a bare bones standard package and a value package which mirrors the system's US packaging. It is to be noted that both of these packages available in the US and in the Japan will continue to be available once the Giga Pack has been released.

Sony expects the product be made available in North America, Europe and other parts of Asia in November.

It is of interest, Giga, which means something really big, is the prefix for the new Sony PSP goody bag. The Sony PSP Giga Pack is also known as the PSP-1000G.

The one problem many of its users are encountering – they are not able to view pictures on their PSP.

There are many reasons behind it.

If the images does not display. It is possible the problem has to do with the image data size or the editing work done on the image. If it has been edited in the PC, the image will not be visible.

Besides it, one more hard reason not showing image relates to the PSP system not recognising the image data. To rectify this problem - check that the data is saved in the correct folder on the Memory Stick Duo. And if the file or folder name on the Memory Stick Duo is changed, or if the file or folder is moved to another location using a PC, the PSP system may not recognise it. Images in a file format that is not compatible with the PSP system will not be recognised.
