I grew up in Bucks County, Pa specifically Yardley, Pa. I have so many wonderful memories especially the ones ice skating on the pond at the center of town. I return quite often to visit one of my favorite restaurants The Yardley Inn. Yes, that’s right, Mrs. G is pet friendly. I am always surprised when a customer walks into our store for the first time and notices the welcome mat and dog bowl by the front door and the first words are not “I’m looking to replace my appliances” but “I wish I brought my dog.” According to a Harris Poll, 62% have at least one pet in their household and 96% of dog owners consider their dog a member of the family. Here at Mrs. G, when shopping for appliances, a TV, or a new mattress, we want your shopping experience to be exceptional, and if that includes bringing your canine buddy, we encourage it.

Mrs. G is a dog friendly retailer and we encourage you to bring your dog with you when you shop. We just have a few rules we ask you to follow. Mrs. G’s 5th Annual Farm2Grill Event is Saturday April 30, 2016 from 1PM – 4PM. The event will be held at Mrs. G at 2720 U.S. 1 Business, Lawrence Twp, NJ and is free.

We are excited to be hosting this fun event for the 5th year. The theme for the event is “Eat Local. Grill Better.” This year Mrs. G has partnered with the Princeton Farmers’ Market to offer a tasting menu of grilled local food. There will be live grilling throughout the afternoon using fresh ingredients from local vendors.

Replacing an old GE Countertop Microwave PEM31SM or a JEM31?

Who would have ever thought GE would change the dimensions of one of their top selling 1.1CF Countertop Microwave Ovens and matching trim kits. These microwaves are very special as they are the only ones that were 12 -9/32” deep, able to fit snuggly with a matching trim kit in 12” deep upper kitchen cabinets. As long as I can remember, back to 2007 there have been a few model number changes, all of them retaining the original dimensions. Until NOW!

Unfortunately I learned the hard way as one of my good friends needed their JEM31SF with matching 27” trim kit JX827SS purchased in 2007 replaced. I sent them the current model PEM31SF, without checking dimensions, because I didn’t think I needed to.  The unexpected call from the homeowner… “Debbie, it does not fit!”

Discontinued JEM31

This was a bit more complicated install for the homeowner so they reached out to their kitchen contractor. The contractor removed the back drywall because the new model was deeper. They decided not to purchase a new trim kit and just adjust the existing one. Luckily the cabinet did not have to be cut.

Here are the old dimensions compared to the new dimensions. GE is the only manufacturer to make a microwave that comes close to these dimensions!
