After a very long wait our new album 'Truths, Lies & Half Lies' is almost here. The release date for the album is the 15th May and you can now pre-order this as a CD or a download from Bandcamp the price for the CD is £10 (the first 1000 copies are a limited run Digi-Pak...looks gorgeous) and the download is priced at £8, the great thing about the download is that you can choose either MP3 for speed or WAV and FLAC for high definition reproduction.

The artwork has been painted by a very gifted artist called Iyan De Jesus over in the Philippines and aside from being so talented Iyan was a joy to work with too.

Thank you so much to everyone who pledged to make this album possible, it really would have been impossible without your help. Please spread the word about the album as we honestly believe that it's a fantastic album and even after all the recording and mixing time, we still have it on constantly.

We have just released a track out into the open, 'Time For Change' is below if you need convincing, it was hard work choosing a track to pick out as we're really very proud of all 11 of them.

Hi all,

We're getting nearer to hearing most of the component parts of the songs put together, we're all REALLY excited about it as we can already hear how the album is growing. One of the great things about recording this way is the element of surprise at certain parts even though we are on the album there are parts that each one of us will be surprised about. Shaun and Charlotte have been very busy doing the vocals and Andy has been very busy too recording the keyboard parts. We have a couple more days of recording to finish and then Al will start mixing it.

Another very exciting element of the album is the artwork, we can't wait to share with you, not only the sound of the album, but also the look of it too, the cover is truly stunning. We'll post an image of the artwork near to the time of release.

Hope you are all well and we will give you another update when the mixes have been done.

Hi all,

We have been busy beavering away with the new album and it's already exceeding our original expectations for a few reasons, mainly it's that we are really enjoying ourselves during the recording sessions and it's a great vibe to have while we are recording, it brings the best out of all of us and it has so far done that. Our engineer Al Unsworth is such a joy to work with, he just has a knack of getting us all to relax and perform at the top of our ability. So far we have recorded drums, guitars, bass and some vocals for the album, vocals will be done over the next couple of weeks and then the keyboards will complete the recordings. The track list is;

The running order of the tracks is yet to be decided, it'll be done at the end of the tracking. We will be having the album mastered this time around which makes a huge difference to the overall sound of the album and is a first for the band. We have found an incredible artist who is creating the front cover, we will also be working with the very talented Ian Taylor for the photographs and as always we have the amazing Lemonshed working with us on the layout. It's all exciting.....trust me....I'm a guitarist :)

Next year will be an important one, not just because both India and China plan to send someone, (or at least something to the moon), not even that it is the age of Aquarius is allegedly in the middle of February (if you care to believe that kind thing) and not even that Dave might get a new guitar...No!!!

2013 will see the birth of something even more exciting! I am of course referring to the new Mr. So & So - Truths, Lies & Half Lies. All So & So albums have difficult and protracted births due to the fact that all five band members are very picky and careful to make sure that each album should be better that the last one, something that we do honestly believe we have achieved. We haven't nailed down the track list yet as we have much more material that will eventually be needed but we can say that if you saw us live and the later part of this year and heard 'Apophis', 'You're Coming Home' and 'Jingo' you have heard three of the tracks on the album. Recording will begin in January and will involve the tricky task of negotiating time for all our jobs and families and we should be ready to mix in March. Being in Mr. So & So is an amazing feeling for each of us as, like you, we can't wait to have the CD in our hands...we're fans too :)

We will be doing a Facebook diary of the recording and the 'So & So Daily Planet' will be updated each day, plus we will be videoing as much of the recording as we can and hopefully doing some interviews with each of us too.

Thank you to everyone who came to see us on the road this year, it's been great for the band and we loved each and every gig.

If you recall we di mention a while ago that we need your help. As most of you might know, the band are not signed to a record label and as such as this is great for artists freedom, it does mean that we need to find alternative sources to fund the band.

In order to record the next album we need to pre-sell the idea, in much the same way that other bands have done. We hope to raise enough money to record 'Truths, Lies & Half-Lies' as well as film a gig for DVD release and a small European tour.

Hi all, we are very pleased with ourselves lately, and with good reason too. The new album has been named 'Truths, Lies & Half-Lies', a damn fine title even if we do say so ourselves. The writing is going along incredibly well and there is a tangible enthusiasm within the band, it's getting harder to put a set list together (very nice problem to have). There will be an announcement in the next few days regarding how you can help the band, we are aware how good our audience has been with us so far and we do need your help.

The new material is exciting, not only because the songs are something that we are proud of, but the bands sound has progressed and is now weightier and bluesier, this in turn is leading us into new and interesting territory not only musically but visually too.

Hi all!

No doubt that most of you are aware that we will be supporting Marillion on a few dates of Marillion's upcoming tour. We can't tell you how excited we are by this, they are a great band who have a fantastic following and we're really looking forward to playing with them. So far the bands schedule for the year reads as follows;

Monday 23rd July - Amsterdam Paradiso (With Marillion)*
Tuesday 24th July - Amsterdam Paradiso (With Marillion)*
Sunday 5th August - Cambridge Rock Festival
Friday 14th September - Sheffield Corporation (With Marillion)
Friday 21st September - St. Helens - The Citadel
Sunday 23rd September - Wolverhampton - The Robin (With Also Eden & Crimson Sky)

*Unfortunately Stuey can't make the Amsterdam dates so we have Leon Parr, who played on the bands first three albums playing with the band again.

There will be a few more dates added to this list before too long and we will keep you posted with them. Album number 5 is taking shape very nicely, we have a title for it that is really cool and we plan to start recording it sometime in January 2013. Some of the material that will be on the next album will be played at all this years gigs, some of you have already heard 'Apophis' and 'You're Coming Home' so you get an idea of how exciting this next album will be. There is a plan to capture the Citadel gig on film and release this at the end of the year. This will be the bands first DVD and will capture the spark and magic of a Mr. So & So performance on home soil as it where. It would be great to hear you all with your best singing voices on the DVD. Here is a little live taster....

As some of you are aware, I've been working with Steve Rothery and the British Guitar Academy, most recently Paris that was really special. There is another BGA event happening in Chester on the 20th May and if you are interested in hearing about guitar playing these events are really worth coming too. Deep in the vaults of So & So manor the band have been putting together new tracks that will form part of the new album. We have tentative recording dates booked and we have some great ideas for album 5. There will also be an announcement soon regarding more live dates but trust me when I say that it's all VERY exciting. We'll let you all know when we know :))

For those that were there from the beginning, you will remember the leap in songwriting that was evident after the experience of writing and recording the first album 'Paraphernalia', though the songs were really good on the first album, the experince catapulted the band onto the next level regarding writing and arranging. Not long after the Paraphernalia sessions the band started to write the beginnings of what would turn out to be 'Compendium', the album that many still regard as the most important Mr. So & So album from the poignant 'Closet Skeletons' to the crowd pleasing 'Tick-A-Box' through some very dark rocktracks including the big riff driven 'Missionary' through to one of the bands classics 'The Visitor'. If you haven't already obtained a copy of the now deleted album, you can download it as an MP3 or FLAC (Lossless audio, same quality as a CD) from the Bandcamp website. A classic '90's prog rock album for £7 that many people have been stunned by the playing and songwriting ability and the band are constantly asked to play tracks from the album.

Well the gig at The Peel was a great experience in every sense, great crowd, great performance, great guests....aww you know, I'm gushing now but it really was a fantastic night...then there was the journey home which was an adventure for everyone. Thankfully we have video footage of the gig at The Peel with footage of Steve Rothery and Rich Harding performing some classic Marillion tracks with the band as well as some new material to the So & So set. There are a couple of the videos tagged on the end of this post and if you like them, which of course you will, then please spread the word, re-post and re-tweet them. We are now holed up in our collective studios creating the material that will become the bands fifth album.

We are sorry to announce that our two upcoming gigs in Holland featuring Steve Rothery and Rich Harding are to be re-scheduled for later on in the year. The two gigs are the 14th January at Den Bosch and the 15th at Zoetermeer, as soon as we are advised of the revised dates we will announce them.

We are due to go back into the studio during February to record another couple of songs that will form part of the next Mr. So & So album. Due to financial constraints this is the only way that we can release the next album so please bear with us as it will take a little longer than normal.

We have been back into the studio for the first time since the recording of Sugarstealer, back at home (well Oswestry) with our six member Al Unsworth, mix engineer grand wizard. We recorded two tracks 'Apophis' and 'You're Coming Home', we are excited about these as they represent the next step in the band sound, weightier and bigger sounding than before. We honestly have no idea what we are going to do with these recordings as initially they were only to be demos but they sound that good that we may release these as a single or E.P. of sorts.

Wow, the feedback from the the free download of The Overlap has been amazing and we've now got a load of new fans who will be delighted to know that for a limited time only, our latest album Sugarstealer is available to download for a recession busting £5. Steve Rothery from Marillion guests again on the album and plays a great solo on Oh Look! A Rainbow.

Cambridge Rock is fast approaching and we are all geared up and ready to play on Sunday the 7th August and the band really is sounding amazing, this will be a great gig. Beyond that we are playing with our good friends The Reasoning at the Globe in Cardiff on the 9th December and this is one to look forward too, it'll be a great gig with two great bands. Early next year we will be playing a handful of gigs in Holland too, with Steve Rothery hopefully with us.

The new album is taking shape and we are making great progress with it, the bands belief is that every album has to be better than the last and although Sugarstealer is something we are really proud of, we know that this is another level up. Demo's start in four weeks and we are again working with the amazing Al Unsworth who recorded Sugarstealer with us. Some of the new songs will start creeping into the set when you least expect it :)

The album was released originally in 1998 on the Dorian Music label and it features eight tracks including what is possibly the most requested song at any Mr. So & So gig - 'Coup De Grace' which has a great solo from Steve Rothery (Marillion). Steve also co-produced the album.

Ribfest and other news

Hi all,

Dave here, hope you are all okay I know that we are after a really enjoyable time on the Isle of Wight at this years Ribfest festival. It wasn't the best attended festival but we had a fantastic time and we really did play a blinder together with the amazing Steve Rothery from Marillion. Thank you to everybody who did turn up and we did rather splendidly on the CD sales too :)

Writing for the new album is coming album very nicely and there are a few tunes in the wash at the moment. We do have a new track, the very weighty and rifftastic 'Apophis' that is almost there and will no doubt be in the set for our next gig in August at the Cambridge Rock Festival.

We have a few exciting things coming up and we will keep you posted, as soon as we know, you will find out too, but it all bodes well for Mr. So & So.

Cambridge Springfest

Well, it's about time Mr. So & So got out top play this year and what a way to start, Cambridge Springfest, Sunday 17th April along with some great bands as part of a full weekend's entertainment. It'll be a set chock full of classic Mr. So & So and maybe a couple of surprises too, though without our gorgeous Charlotte as she is still recovering from a very nasty infection.

New Material

Hello all! It's been in a while eh!...The life of Mr. So & So has more ups and downs than most. If nothing else, it makes thing interesting.

We are in the process of writing for album "Number 5" and it's taking shape very nicely. We have three songs on the go at the moment that are kind of out of the lab and into the beginning of the build process. Shaun is working on a great theme for the album that will hopefully involve more than a CD as it were...

We are playing at the Cambridge Springfest on the 17th April which is our first outing this year and then later on in the year we are playing at Ribfest on the Isle of Wight on the 14th May which we hope to have a new song ready for you :) Please visit the official web site for updates on this years gigs.

Sadly, Lady Charlotte wont be appearing with us at the Cambridge show due to a throat infection and at the moment she can barely talk so with plenty of band love we hope to have her fixed as soon as possible. In the interim she has become the band photographer and as soon as we have some images, they'll be up on the internet soon.

Hello all, we hope that you are enjoying the festive period, it can only be a good thing when you get time off work :) All of us in the band have day jobs and it's great to eventually get time to recharge. We are now in the beginnings of writing what will be our fifth album and so far the material is already sounding very very good - new material is always a good rush for any band/writer.

2011 will see us playing quite a few festivals, which is something that we have wanted to do for quite a while. Please look out for the dates of these which will be announced via our main site as well as Facebook and MySpace. These dates will also include some appearances with Steve Rothery from Marillion as well as involvement with the British Guitar Academy.

From all the band, we wish you all a very happy Christmas and all the best for the new year.

Well hopefully by now, most of you will have heard 'Return of The Gold' on the front cover CD of Classic Rock presents Prog! It's been a fantastic feature for the band and has hopefully brought the band to a lot more people.

Us So & So's are now busy writing again for what will be album number 5....blimey!!!! Mr. So & So has had a strange existence so far and there have been real high points for us during that time but we really do think that Sugarstealer was our best work so far and as such we have set the bar REALLY high for the next album and to be honest we feel very much up to the task :)

We are in the process of arranging a few festivals for next year and so far it's looking like you will see even more of us.

Hi everyone,

Mr So & So are pleased to announce our first HEADLINE(!) London show which will take place at the Venue 2, the 229 Club, Great Portland Street London on 22/10/10. Doors open at 7.30pm and there will be a full support before we hit the stage. Our onstage time is TBC but 9.30pm-ish looks likely at the moment. The venue is fairly small, holding around 250 but has excellent sound and lighting equipment so it will be a chance to hear tracks from Sugarstealer and the back catalogue 'up close'.

Tickets are a measly £6, which is very cheap for an act of our quality, with all our own teeth and (most) of our own hair!!

100 Club and Bi-Polar Video

Thanks to everyone who turned up for the gig on a very hot and sticky Friday night. We enjoyed playing and we have been asked back soon as well, so if you missed us you can get to see us again. It's a great venue run by really nice people.

Next up for the band is the premier of the Bi-Polar video. We have been working with a very talented gentleman by the name of Will Cotton and he and his team have put together a video for Bi-polar. It's taken a while but like all things So & So, nothing worth doing is done quickly :) We'll post the video up onto You-tube as soon as we get chance to.

One last thing, we are considering videoing the Citadel gig. If we do we'll let you know in advance and we'd LOVE it if you could all make it to this one. Imagine that, after all this time....a Mr. So & So DVD!?!?!?!

...On the road again....

We have been blessed with what we now consider our perfect line up, Andy has settled in superbly well and we are now "gig ready" as it were.

You may have noticed on Facebook that we have gigs coming up at at the 100 Club in London on Friday 20th August and also the Citadel in St. Helens on Friday 29th October. These are the first of hopefully a lot more gigs. We'll keep you posted.

First gig of 2010 announced

Now that we have settled into our new line up (sounds rather splendid too), we are now in the process of booking some gigs, the first of which is on Friday 29th October at The Citadel in St. Helens. Tickets will be available from The Citadel box office as of 1st May. This is a great live venue and also the birthplace of the band. We also hope to have a couple of cool supports with us too. Hope to see you there.
