Fiber cables form one of the most important parts of the networking industry today. Fiber cables are composed of one or more transparent optical fibers enclosed in a protective covering and strength members. Fiber cables are used to transmit data by the mode of light. Various types of fiber cables available are multimode duplex fiber cables, single mode simplex fiber cables, single mode duplex fiber cables, and plastic optical fiber cables.

There are many fiber optic cable manufacturers who manufacture full line of fiber cables in both single mode and multi-mode, simples, duplex and multi-strand. Several manufacturers provide low cost, quick-turn, high volume fiber cables and fiber cable assembly solutions.

Cables with complete assembly of fibers, strength members and jacket refer to fiber cables. These fiber cables come in variety of forms depending upon their usability and place of use. It is important to identify the exact requirement of fiber cables whether they would be easy to install, splice or terminate, etc. This is necessary as it ultimately decides the cost of installing the fiber cables.

Fiber cables are required to protect fibers from external hazards. Thus before installing the fiber cables one should always assess the place of installation of fiber cables. Fiber cables required inside the house or a building are not exposed too much of hazardous condition thus simpler form and not-so-tough fiber cables can be used for installation. But if the fiber cables are to be installed for longer distances and outside premises then the cables should be robust. Fiber cables comes in different types based on their usage patterns as well. The zip cord and simplex fiber cables refer to those used for desktop connections. Simplex fiber cables are one fiber, tight-buffered and jacketed. A zip cord is actually two simplex fiber cables joined by a thin web. On the other hand fiber cables made of several simplex cables are breakout fiber cables. This type of fiber cables is strong, rugged and larger. They are also a bit expensive but prove to be economic where distances are not too long and fiber count required is less.

Small fiber cables required for dry conduit run, riser or plenum are known as a distribution fiber cables that needs a breakout –box to be broken up or terminated in a panel box. They contain several tight-buffered fibers bundled under same jacket.

Aerial fiber cables are good enough for outside installation where as armored fiber cables are used for under-ground wiring where rodents are a problem. These fiber cables have metal armoring between two jackets to prevent rodents from tampering the cabling connections.

Loose tube fiber cables are perfect for plant trunk applications to prevent fibers from moisture or water. They can be buried directly in ground but must be handled carefully to prevent damage. Ribbon fiber cables have twelve or more fiber cables packed together laid in a rows. They are also a plant fiber cables which are gel-filled and are good for water blocking.

All fiber cable manufacturers manufacture different fiber cables but their product literatures should be carefully studied so as to assess which type of fiber cables they specialize in.

Setting Up and Securing Your Wireless Network

There are more and more individuals opting to work from home than ever before. The advantages to this are many including avoiding the morning and evening rush hours, being able to spend time with your kids and significant other, and doing everything on your own time. Though the pitfalls are many, the one that I will be focusing on in this article is that of setting up a secure wireless network for your home based business. Right now somewhere out there, there is someone with a receiver waiting to pick up on an unsuspecting person's wireless local area network. Their hope is to garner some sensitive information that may lead to identity theft, and stolen proprietary business information.

Most businesses owners are not technically inclined, though they may be power users, in general security settings is not one of the first things they want to mess around with in their day to day operations. This makes most wireless LANs a great target for information predators.

Here are some general guidelines to follow in setting up your wireless network. Though it may vary from vendor to vendor, the gist is more or less the same:

1. Setup the wireless access/router point via a wired client.
2. Always change the factory setting password to something difficult for someone to guess.
3. Enable 128-bit Wired Equivalency Privacy (WEP) encryption on both your access point and network card. From time to time change the WEP key entries. If your hardware does not support a minimal of 128 bit WEP encryption, then it may be time to replace this dinosaur. WEP is only a minimal security precaution, which is better than none at all.

4. Alter the factory default SSID on the access/router point to a convoluted difficult to guess string. Initiate your computer to connect to this configured SSID by default.
5. Setup your access point not to broadcast the SSID if available.
6. Block off anonymous internet requests and pings.
7. P2P Connections should be disabled.
8. Enable MAC filtering.
9. Enable firewall on the network router/access point with demilitarized zone function disabled. Enable client firewalls for each computer in the network.
10. Update router and access point firmware as updates become available.
11. Make sure the physical router is hidden so that a random person can't reset the settings.
12. Position the physical router near the middle of the establishment as opposed to near windows to prevent others outside from receiving the signals.

These and other settings will collectively help prevent any unwanted intrusions on your private data.

(Holding the footstool as a tray, he minces across the
room like an accomplished footman. The gods favour
him, for just here LADY MARY enters, and he holds
out the footstool to her.)

Tea, my lady?

(LADY MARY is a beautiful creature of twenty-two,
and is of a natural hauteur which is at once the fury and
the envy of her sisters. If she chooses she can make you
seem so insignificant that you feel you might be swept
away with the crumb-brush. She seldom chooses,
because of the trouble of preening herself as she does
it; she is usually content to show that you merely tire her
eyes. She often seems to be about to go to sleep in
the middle of a remark: there is quite a long and anxious
pause, and then she continues, like a clock that hesitates,
bored in the middle of its strike.)

LADY MARY (arching her brows). It is only you,
Ernest; I thought there was some one here (and she also
bestows herself on cushions).

ERNEST (a little piqued, and deserting the footstool).
Had a very tiring day also, Mary?

LADY MARY (yawning). Dreadfully. Been trying on
engagement-rings all the morning.

ERNEST (who is as fond of gossip as the oldest club
member). What's that? (To AGATHA.) Is it
Brocklehurst?

(The energetic AGATHA nods.)

You have given your warm young heart to Brocky?

(LADY MARY is impervious to his humour, but he
continues bravely.)

I don't wish to fatigue you, Mary, by insisting on a
verbal answer, but if, without straining yourself, you can
signify Yes or No, won't you make the effort?

(She indolently flashes a ring on her most important
finger, and he starts back melodramatically.)

The ring! Then I am too late, too late! (Fixing
LADY MARY sternly, like a prosecuting counsel.) May I ask,
Mary, does Brocky know? Of course, it was that
terrible mother of his who pulled this through. Mother does
everything for Brocky. Still, in the eyes of the law you will be,
not her wife, but his, and, therefore, I hold that Brocky
ought to be informed. Now--

(He discovers that their languorous eyes have closed.)

If you girls are shamming sleep in the expectation that
I shall awaken you in the manner beloved of ladies,
abandon all such hopes.

(CATHERINE and AGATHA look up without speaking.)

LADY MARY (speaking without looking up). You impertinent boy.

ERNEST (eagerly plucking another epigram from his quiver).
I knew that was it, though I don't know everything. Agatha,
I'm not young enough to know everything.

A Story That I read that I want to share with you all.

AT LOAM HOUSE, MAYFAIR

A moment before the curtain rises, the Hon. Ernest
Woolley drives up to the door of Loam House in Mayfair.
There is a happy smile on his pleasant, insignificant face,
and this presumably means that he is thinking of himself.
He is too busy over nothing, this man about town, to be
always thinking of himself, but, on the other hand, he
almost never thinks of any other person. Probably
Ernest's great moment is when he wakes of a morning
and realises that he really is Ernest, for we must all wish
to be that which is our ideal. We can conceive him
springing out of bed light-heartedly and waiting for his
man to do the rest. He is dressed in excellent taste, with
just the little bit more which shows that he is not without
a sense of humour: the dandiacal are often saved by
carrying a smile at the whole thing in their spats, let us say.

Ernest left Cambridge the other day, a member of The
Athenaeum (which he would be sorry to have you confound
with a club in London of the same name). He is a bachelor,
but not of arts, no mean epigrammatist (as you shall see),
and a favourite of the ladies. He is almost a celebrity in
restaurants, where he dines frequently, returning to sup;
and during this last year he has probably paid as much in
them for the privilege of handing his hat to an attendant
as the rent of a working-man's flat. He complains brightly
that he is hard up, and that if somebody or other at
Westminster does not look out the country will go to the dogs.

He is no fool. He has the shrewdness to float with the
current because it is a labour-saving process, but he has
sufficient pluck to fight, if fight he must (a brief contest,
for he would soon be toppled over). He has a light nature,
which would enable him to bob up cheerily in new conditions
and return unaltered to the old ones. His selfishness is his
most endearing quality. If he has his way he will spend his
life like a cat in pushing his betters out of the soft places, and until
he is old he will be fondled in the process.

He gives his hat to one footman and his cane to another,
and mounts the great staircase unassisted and undirected.
As a nephew of the house he need show no credentials
even to Crichton, who is guarding a door above. It would
not be good taste to describe Crichton, who is only a servant;
if to the scandal of all good houses he is to stand out as a
figure in the play, he must do it on his own, as they say in the
pantry and the boudoir. We are not going to help him. We have
had misgivings ever since we found his name in the title, and we shall
keep him out of his rights as long as we can. Even though
we softened to him he would not be a hero in these clothes
of servitude; and he loves his clothes. How to get him out of them?

It would require a cataclysm. To be an indoor servant at
all is to Crichton a badge of honour; to be a butler at thirty
is the realisation of his proudest ambitions. He is devotedly
attached to his master, who, in his opinion, has but one fault,
he is not sufficiently contemptuous of his inferiors. We are
immediately to be introduced to this solitary failing of a great
English peer. This perfect butler, then, opens a door, and
ushers Ernest into a certain room. At the same moment the
curtain rises on this room, and the play begins.

It is one of several reception-rooms in Loam House, not
the most magnificent but quite the softest; and of a warm
afternoon all that those who are anybody crave for is the
softest. The larger rooms are magnificent and bare, carpetless,
so that it is an accomplishment to keep one's feet on them;
they are sometimes lent for charitable purposes; they are also
all in use on the night of a dinner-party, when you may find
yourself alone in one, having taken a wrong turning; or alone,
save for two others who are within hailing distance.

This room, however, is comparatively small and very soft. There
are so many cushions in it that you wonder why, if you are an
outsider and don't know that, it needs six cushions to make one fair
head comfy. The couches themselves are cushions as large as
beds, and there is an art of sinking into them and of waiting to be
helped out of them. There are several famous paintings on the
walls, of which you may say 'Jolly thing that,' without losing caste
as knowing too much; and in cases there are glorious miniatures,
but the daughters of the house cannot tell you of whom; 'there is
a catalogue somewhere.' There are a thousand or so of roses in basins,
several library novels, and a row of weekly illustrated newspapers
lying against each other like fallen soldiers.

If any one disturbs this row Crichton seems to know of it from afar
and appears noiselessly and replaces the wanderer. One thing
unexpected in such a room is a great array of tea things. Ernest spots
them with a twinkle, and has his epigram at once unsheathed. He dallies,
however, before delivering the thrust.

ERNEST : I perceive, from the tea cups, Crichton, that the great
function is to take place here.

CRICHTON : (with a respectful sigh). Yes, sir.

ERNEST : (chuckling heartlessly). The servants' hall coming up
to have tea in the drawing-room! (With terrible sarcasm.)
No wonder you look happy, Crichton.

CRICHTON : (under the knife). No, sir.

ERNEST : Do you know, Crichton, I think that with an effort
you might look even happier. (CRICHTON smiles wanly.)
You don't approve of his lordship's compelling his servants to
be his equals--once a month?

CRICHTON : It is not for me, sir, to disapprove of his lordship's
radical views.

ERNEST : Certainly not. And, after all, it is only once a month
that he is affable to you.

CRICHTON : On all other days of the month, sir, his lordship's
treatment of us is everything that could be desired.

ERNEST : (This is the epigram.) Tea cups! Life, Crichton, is
like a cup of tea; the more heartily we drink, the sooner we
reach the dregs.

CRICHTON : (obediently). Thank you, sir.

ERNEST : (becoming confidential, as we do when we have
need of an ally). Crichton, in case I should be asked to say
a few words to the servants, I have strung together a little
speech. (His hand strays to his pocket.) I was wondering
where I should stand.

(He tries various places and postures, and comes to rest
leaning over a high chair, whence, in dumb show, he
addresses a gathering. CRICHTON, with the best intentions,
gives him a footstool to stand on, and departs, happily
unconscious that ERNEST in some dudgeon has kicked the
footstool across the room.)

ERNEST : (addressing an imaginary audience, and desirous
of startling them at once). Suppose you were all
little fishes at the bottom of the sea--

(He is not quite satisfied with his position, though sure that
the fault must lie with the chair for being too high, not with
him for being too short. CRICHTON'S suggestion was not
perhaps a bad one after all. He lifts the stool, but hastily
conceals it behind him on the entrance of the LADIES
CATHERINE and AGATHA, two daughters of the house.
CATHERINE is twenty, and AGATHA two years younger.
They are very fashionable young women indeed, who might
wake up for a dance, but they are very lazy, CATHERINE
being two years lazier than AGATHA.)

ERNEST : (uneasily jocular, because he is concealing the
footstool). And how are my little friends to-day?

AGATHA : (contriving to reach a settee). Don't be silly,
Ernest. If you want to know how we are, we are dead.
Even to think of entertaining the servants is so exhausting.

CATHERINE : (subsiding nearer the door). Besides which,
we have had to decide what frocks to take with us
on the yacht, and that is such a mental strain.

ERNEST : You poor over-worked things.
(Evidently AGATHA is his favourite, for he helps her to put
her feet in the settee, while CATHERINE has to dispose of
her own feet.) Rest your weary limbs.

CATHERINE : (perhaps in revenge). But why have you a
footstool in your hand?

AGATHA : Yes?

With the attraction of a growing market, there is a
greater likelihood that more and more companies
will be marketing devices in the near future that can
be accessed by elderly people and/or people with
disabilities. Since these concepts can be interpreted
in diverse ways, consumers may find that devices
advertised as fully accessible, straightforward and
easy to use, do not really fulfil their needs. It is
within this context that the availability of functional
specifications of terminals becomes essential, so
that products can be checked and certified in order
to give to the customer a guarantee of the appropriateness
of a given product or service in relation to his or her needs.
The section entitled "Functional specification for terminal
procurement" presents an example of good practice
from Sweden in what will become an important area
for the future.

Evolution of text telephony

Text telephony is currently the basic means of
communication for many people with disabilities,
such as deaf people. The technology supporting
mobile telephony does not allow the extension
of traditional text telephony. For this reason, many
users substitute mobile text telephony by the use
of SMS messages, but they do not allow full
interactive communication, hence the need to
develop novel mobile text telephony services.

Since the next generation of text telephony in
Europe is under development, it is necessary
to establish basic design guidelines that guarantee
the quality of the service. "The recommendations
of the Nordic countries regarding functionality for
text telephony" section compiles criteria that
include mobility, interoperability, continuity,
accessibility from the internet, and availability of
relay services.

Diverse experiences have been developed to
provide mobile text telephony through the
access to internet servers. The section entitled
"Mobile & IP-based text telephony" shows
the deployment of such a service in Sweden,
while "Mobile text telephony based on GPRS
communications" explains the results obtained
by a Spanish project.

Broadband communication technologies are already available.
They can sustain advanced services to support people with
disabilities and elderly people. Relay services, virtual
communities, enhanced communication, etc., are being
successfully tested in a number of countries. The section
entitled "Novel broadband-based services: new opportunities
for people with disabilities" describes seven trials of advanced
broadband-based support services, conducted by the National
Post and Telecom Agency in Sweden (Post- och telestyrelsen, PTS),
to test the validity of current and future broadband telecommunications
services in providing remote support that is tuned to the needs
of specific groups of people with disabilities.

Relay services usually act as communication mediators between
users, one of whom at least has a disability that prevents them from
using standard communication devices or services. These services
are able to translate from signsto-voice (and vice versa), from
text-to-voice (and vice versa), etc. They can also provide other
services such as the description of a received image to a blind person.
Some pre-existent relay services may be enhanced, universalised and
made less expensive by means of the currently available advanced
telecommunication technologies. The section entitled "Access to video
relay services through the pocket Interpreter (3G) and Internet (IP)"
presents two experiences developed by the Swedish National Post
and Telecom Agency: The IP access project, a video telephony relay
service based on IP and the pocket interpreter for mobile video
communication, both for signing deaf people.

Efficient use of relay services requires that a number of steps be
closely followed in order to speed up the service. The section
entitled "Convenient invocation of relay services" describes the best
way to invoke various relay services currently existing in Sweden.
These experiences may be taken as examples of good practice
that help optimise the design of the access to future relay services.

The rise of Short Message Services (SMS) tied to the expansion
of mobile telephony, is frequently associated in our minds to
young people. Short messages are cheaper than voice calls and
don’t require that both interlocutors are simultaneously engaged.
Nevertheless, SMS can be also useful for other groups of
the population. A remarkable application of SMS is shown in section
"Ways of using mobile telephones by people with dementia", revealing
that elderly people with cognitive restrictions can take advantage of this
technology for verbal, text or symbol communication and support.

SMS technology is also used in the "Implementation of an SMS-based
emergency service in Finland" to allow not only deaf people, but any
other user, to contact the universal 112 emergency service sending
emergency text messages. After making contact the user receives an
acknowledgement message and can be located for assistance.

Technological advancement in the field of robotics has provided
devices and techniques for sensoring, positioning, mapping, navigating, etc.

These techniques have made it possible to develop devices to help people
with physical, sensorial or cognitive restrictions to navigate both outdoors and indoors.

The section "Safe navigation with modern technology" makes a detailed
description of current technology to support human navigation and
discusses the possibilities for the near future.

It is known that speech is the main means of communication between
people. Nevertheless a number of users with disabilities experience
restrictions in their speech capacity that limit their communication skills.

Current speech technology is able to translate text-to-voice and
voice-to-text (the latter still without enough quality and reliability),
enabling the design of diverse mediation devices and 6 services.
These include, for instance, reading texts aloud for people with sight
restrictions, and controlling devices in a more natural way through the voice.

The section entitled "Speech processing for people with disabilities"
reviews current and more particularly, future applications of speech
technologies that can enhance the communication of elderly people and people with disabilities.

Finding Affiliate Programs -- Where To Start

When most people have a task to do, they usually do well once they get started, and finding affiliate programs for your site or blog is no exception - you just need a little kickstart to get your brain into the right mode. There's a really easy way to get things started…go look at one of your competitors. There are tons of ways to do this - the easiest way would be to put your keyword(s) into Google and see what pops up. The order of the results is based in good part on Google's PageRank, which has a lot to do with the number of other sites that link to a particular site. Pick one of the results near the top and click on the link. Hover on a banner or text advertising box and see where the URL leads. Take note of the particular network such as Commission Junction, ClickBank, Linkshare, etc. and the particular programs on the site. I keep a list using Microsoft Notepad when I surf competitive sites for clients. Most of the time I ignore CPM-based networks like DoubleClick or AdBrite, and contextual ad networks like Google and Yahoo. I do pay particular attention to the category affiliate network banners and text ads. For example, if you surf a few competitors and find a lot of banner advertising for web site hosting, that means your competitors are having at least some luck with website hosting affiliate programs. When you come up with a good list of networks, programs and categories, go visit the networks that appear the most on the sites (try to go to 5 or 6 different sites so you can see any patterns that emerge). You should now have a terrific list to start from, including a list of networks, programs and keywords. Now all you have to do is poke around and see which pay the best and try to figure out which your visitors might like. While you're on the other sites, try to get a feel for where on the page the ads are placed, which can make a huge difference in clickthrough and conversion.

1. Slow download time - Don't be that site that is filled with the coolest gizmos in the world. You know, animation, music and other "cool" things. Why? 2. Unreadable text - If a user has to struggle to read the text on your web site, chances are they won't. Here are some common readability issues:

A. Low contrast text and background - Don't use light colored text on a light background. Also, don't use dark text on a dark background. Text is most easily read with extreme contrasts between the background and text. Black on white is about as good as it gets for readability. Red on black is pretty bad. Yellow on white isn't so hot either.

B. Text on a busy background - Text is most easily read on solid color background. Putting text on textured backgrounds can make it much harder to read.

C. Small Text - Text that is really tiny may look cool, but is hard to read. If you must use small text, make sure changing the text size in a browser will change the size of your text. Using style sheets can some times over-ride a browser's ability to increase text size.<

3. Unpleasant designs - Designs that use too many colors, colors that clash, or a messy layout, are just plain hard to look at. A site should be pleasant to look at, not a chore.

4. Long pages - Long pages are a problem because your force people to sift through piles of information to get what they want. Pages that focus on just a few topics with links to related topics on other pages are much better. This approach allows the reader to isolate the specific subject they are interested in.

5. Poor Navigation - It is extremely important that a user be able to access all pages of your site from every page. Users will often enter your site from a search engine listing with a link other than your home page. You do not want your visitors at a dead-end with no way to access the rest of your site. You will have wasted the traffic and given the prospect a bad impression of your business.

As you surf the web, you should keep a list of annoying things you find on other sites. Every so often, check your site to see if you have the same problems. Regardless, if you avoid the common web design mistakes listed above, you will stand a better chance of running a successful web site.

Beware, There Are A Lot Of Crooks On Ebay

I hope you have not had a negative experience on ebay. I was very much enjoying the site until one day, some freak tried to steal nearly £200 from selling me an item which did not exist. This article explains what happened and also the advice the police gave to me.

As I have already mentioned I was having lots of fun buying and selling on Ebay for a number of months without any problems at all. I regularly sold second hand mobile phones and was doing very well for myself. If I ever bought anything that cost over £100, I would offer to meet the seller somewhere, normally just off the motorway. I pulled off what I believed was some good deals and also managed to offload some of my unwanted items which I either had no interest in anymore or that I had no longer a need for.

Unfortunately all good things have to come to an end and it certainly did with ebay.

One particular morning I was looking to purchase another second hand mobile phone, which I would then re-sell on. There was an advert for a buy it now phone with the asking price low but not extremely low.

There was a mobile number to phone if I had any questions. I decided to phone the number, his name was Tony and I asked him the general type questions. He sounded and seemed really nice, however stated that he was unable to meet me as he was unable to drive as he had not past his test. The alarm bells should have already started to ring, but me being a bit stupid they didn't.

His house was a long way from where I lived and reluctantly I agreed to pay via a bank transfer. He assured me he would post the phone, that very day via Royal Mail Special Delivery to arrive by 11am the next morning. He seemed very genuine, they always do your thinking and that was that.

Next morning have a guess what arrived, yes nothing at all, nor the next day, nor the next.

I tried e-mailing him, texting and ringing his mobile phone, guess what, there was no reply.

I realised what a fool I had been, however decided to go to the police. They were very helpful and half an hour later I had a crime number however was warned that it was very unlikely I would ever see a phone or recieve a refund of my money which was £170. The police advised me to be very careful as they regularly have complaints from people who have been defrauded on ebay, I was not alone!

Outside the police station I sent Tony a text with the police crime number. To my shock he phoned me straight away swearing at me but eventually agreed to refund me the money, if I stopped the police action against him.

I was very lucky, I am sure many other people as the police stated, never get their money back.

should be recognized for all they do.

Flowers have long been a traditional gift to present to mothers on Mother's Day.
While every mom loves to receive a bouquet or arrangement of her favorite flowers,
there are lots of other ways you can incorporate flowers into an extra special declaration
of your love. And, it doesn't matter what your age is or if you're helping your own young
children celebrate mom, you can use flowers to make this Mother's Day one she'll always

Adult Children

Blogging is only successful if you can see it as a dual marketing tool. The third part of the blogging business triad is a dual product. There is the product you are selling on your website (or from others) and then there is your opinion. You can't sell a product through blogging unless you can convince the reader to "buy" your opinions. Whatever you decide to sell make sure you can back it up with your reputation because when it comes to blogging what you are blogging can be gold.

The trick to writing a great business blog is to realize that you are not just selling your products, you are also selling yourself. If you can't sell yourself then others are not likely to buy from you. This is why writing a blog can actually be detrimental to individuals who are selling a product they don't really believe in or who are simply just terrible when it comes to expressing themselves. A lack of enthusiasm is also really damaging and stealing from other sites can actually sabotage your business completely.

Remember that unlike other business situations, blogging means that you have to sell is yourself. Others have to buy into your beliefs and opinions and give you credibility as an expert. If you seem like the type of writer who doesn't know what he or she is talking about or can't back up their opinions with research or facts then the blog may even damage your sales.
