Boston Celtic beat the Los Angeles Lakers winning game 5 92-86. Even with Kobe Bryant putting on a show in the third quarter , the Boston Celtics were able to defeat the Los Angeles Lakers taking a 3-2 lead in the NBA finals.

So, how were they able to defeat the Lake show, team basketball. The Celtics rebounded the ball and played with what was seem to be more heart and effort. For the Celtics this was their game seven and they played as if it was. Even while Bryant scored 17 points in the third quarter alone, he showed glimspes of old Kobe leaving his team mates out to dry, while the Celtics played great team ball, and with Paul Pierce actually showing up for a game scoring at will in game five, scoring 27 points. The series heads back to L.A for games six and seven, and the Lakers need both to stay alive.

Sixers choosing Derrick Favors over Evan Turner

So I was reading Chad Fords' new mock draft stating that Evan Turner might not be a good fit next to Andre Iguodala, and that some people in the Sixers organization would choose to pick Derrick Favors. Now the idea that Turner can't play next to Iguodala seems incorrect to me, for one Turner could play on the perimeter having a better mid range game and have Iggy as a slasher. Now to support the idea of choosing Favors, I can where the Sixers will need to add a big man and he could fit that bill as well as, Cousins but with his attitude issues Favors is the safer pick. With Sammy not being a starter center in the league and with a desirable contract to attract trade offers, they could get a piece to fit their system.
However, if they do go this route I would trade the second pick to the Wolves, who love Evan Turner and in hand receive their fourth and I believe sixteen pick, leaving the sixers to still choose a big man and get an additional pick and still look into trading Sammy. All I ask is that they make the right decision, they are known for passing on great talent such as a Paul Peirce, so if they choose Favors he better be Dwight, and turner better not turn into a superstar which I believe he can be.

With the Orlando Magic winning game five and the Boston players playing injured and showing their age, the Magic have a shot at making history. Even though its still a long shot that the Magic can pull this miracle off, we know that the wise gritty Celtics will awaken for one of the last two games to stop this run. With Perkins technical foul being resented he will be available to guard Dwight Howard easing Celtics fans. Even with Perkins availability, they will need Rondo to set the tempo and stop Jameer Nelson from getting into the lane creating passing lanes, allowing the Magic to hit open three's. We will have to wait to see if Magic will be able to overcome the odds.

Bad Match-up for the Cavs, Again?

The Cleveland Cavaliers have not performed well in the first two games in the series with the Boston Celtics. Though winning game one, the Cavs have had to come from behind to win with the help of Boston's big three scoring five points in the fourth quarter. The point guard match-up is not working for Cleveland either, Mo Williams cannot keep up with Celtics guard Rajon Rondo, and when they place Parker on him, Ray Allen takes advantage of his height shooting over him, while tiring him out chasing him off screens. Shaq has no effect on the game as well, he barley plays and Perkins is doing a great job of defending the basket. Cleveland may need to think about putting big Z in the game to spread the floor and open the lane up for Lebron James, and work the pick and pop to make the Celtics defense stay true. As we seen tonight in the Celtics win the Cavs need to step their defense and play harder. If Cavs continue to play they way they are, their in for some trouble.

Goodbye LA, Hello Portland? With the Utah Jazz matching the Portland trailblazers offer sheet to Paul Millsap, leaving the trailblazers with enough cap to give Lamar Odom what he wants. So, with the Lakers taking their offer of 27 million off the table and reports that the two are not on good terms at the moment, Lamar Odom might look at what Portland has to offer. Portland is trying hard to keep up with all the new acquisitions west to stay contenders, and oh yeah Lamar Odom is better and can play more positions than Paul Millsap so it wouldn't be Portland's lost. However, for the champions of the NBA losing Lamar leaves them with a big whole in their defense and offense, even with the signing of Ron Artest.
