<p>Ensure the daily production sheet is strictly followed.</p>
<p>Carefully inspect all ingredients prior to use.</p>
<p>Ensure subsistence items, supplies and equipment is maintained in a neat, orderly and sanitary manner.</p>
<p>Ensure that all provisions “broken out” are properly recorded and signed for on the NAVSUP 1282.</p>
<p>Assist in the proper care of perishable leftovers; wrapping, labeling and refrigerating all usable leftovers.</p>
<p>Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of the galley areas and associated equipment.</p>
<p>Adhere to all sanitation procedures and personal hygiene standards.</p>
<p>Performs other duties as assigned.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Chief Cook (CC) is under the direct supervision of the Chief Steward.</p>
<p>The Chief Cook is responsible for overseeing the general operation of the galley; the preparation, production and presentation of all menu items—in accordance with Healthy Heart guidelines, approved recipes, instructions and utilizing Progressive Cooking Techniques; and the maintenance of sanitary standards within the Galley; including food presentation in accordance with approved recipes utilizing the daily preparation sheet.</p>
<p>The Chief Cook is responsible for the immediate supervision and job performance of personnel involved in the food preparation, production and presentation of meals, including ensuring that dining areas salad bar, dessert bar, beverages, and condiments are set prior to the beginning of each meal; ensuring that sanitation standards and personal hygiene are maintained at all times and IAW NAVMED P-5010 guidelines.</p>
<p>The Chief Cook shall ensure that the “Breakout” of provisions necessary for the production of all meals is correctly inventoried and recorded; that leftovers and Unused Products are correctly stored and labeled.</p>
<p>The Chief Cook shall ensure that the approved menu is strictly adhered to and prepared IAW the approved recipes, unless the Chief Steward authorizes specific changes or substitutions.</p>
<p>The Chief Cook shall inspect all galley equipment daily to ensure safe operation; rigid sanitation and proper maintenance are adhered to.</p>
<p>Ensure that every precaution is taken to prevent contamination of food, including proper thawing techniques; inspect all food before preparation and serving.</p>
<p>Ensure that all subsistence items, supplies, and equipment in the galley is maintained in a neat and orderly manner IAW NAVSUP P-486.</p>
<p>The Chief Cook is responsible for requisition to prepare all meals and managing provisions; once it is delivered to the galley; including ordering and returning unused food items to the bulk storeroom using the Food Item Request/Issue Document NAVSUP 1282.</p>
<p>The Chief Cook is responsible for serving line set-up, assist in training all serving line personnel, assist in training all dining areas food service personnel.</p>
<p>Ensure, that after each meal, garbage and trash are disposed of in accordance with environmental regulations and that garbage cans are sanitized, lined with plastic bags and covered when not in use; check all switches and electrical equipment, and the main switch to the deep-fat-fryer, to ensure they are in an “off” position when not in use.</p>
<p>Supervise all galley personnel in the maintenance and sanitation of galley areas and equipment, including decks, sink and grease traps, ranges, hoods, grills, ovens serving surfaces, storage areas, deep fat fryers, mixing machines, utensils, dishwashing areas, etc.</p>
<p>When required, the Chief Cook shall assist in the receipt and storage of provisions and supplies; or in any other duties within the scope of the position as assigned by supervisors.</p>
<p>The Chief Cook is responsible for learning the location of, and being familiar with the use of, all fire fighting and damage control equipment in galley areas.</p>
<p>The Chief Cook shall have complete knowledge of the responsibilities and duties of all drills held aboard ship; and carry out environmental protection and pollution regulations.</p>
<p>The Chief Cook shall use best judgment, initiative and unbiased evaluation to promote the smooth, efficient, economical and safe operation of the Steward Division.</p>
<p>Performs other duties as assigned.</p>

<p>The Electronic Technician must be versed in standard marine engineering and understand the basic relationships between various systems and equipment. The Electronic Technician must be knowledgeable of marine as well as commercial electronics practice and procedures. The Electronic Technician must be capable of effectively communicating with a variety of technical representatives and direct supervisors. The Electronic Technician is required to monitor the work of technical representatives and provide good quality assurance.  The incumbent must be adept at researching material requirements, creating work lists, utilizing the Naval Supply System and prioritizing tasks based on vessel operation requirements.</p>

<p>The Steward Cook (SC) is head of the Steward Division and responsible for all food service operations, management, sanitation, discipline, and training for up to 75 personnel within the Steward Division.  The Steward Cook’s primary function is to assure that onboard food service operations meet the highest standards of preparation, production, presentation, fiscal responsibility and accountability for up to 700 personnel daily.  Similarly, the Steward Cook is responsible for the maintenance of all physical spaces assigned to the Steward Division.  Incumbent reports to the Supply Officer (where assigned) or Master (where Supply Officer not assigned) for performance of all general functions, including accounting operations and briefs management as required.  As Division Officer, it is expected that the Steward Cook will comply with all instructions pertaining to Personnel Administration, Financial Accountability, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Supply Operations, and submit accurate and timely reports.  Required ability to document performance and provide promotion or assignment recommendations of Food Service Personnel.  Ability to prepare and submit performance evaluation reports to the Master or Designated personnel as required.  Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of CPMI, DHAMS, EEO instructions and payroll guidelines.  Ability to provide recommendations for incentive awards, recognize outstanding personnel performance and advise personnel of Merit Promotion advancement opportunities.  Knowledge and ability to take effective measures to minimize breech of discipline and recommend disciplinary action as required.</p>
<p><strong>FOOD PRODUCTION OPERATION: </strong>Responsible for the preparation of the daily, weekly, and monthly menus for the Master’s approval based on healthy heart parameters; for the preparation of all culinary products served following progressive cooking techniques, healthy heart parameters, approved recipes, and instructions and ensures leftovers are integrated into meal plans; for overseeing, instructing and supervising food service personnel in the proper use of all equipment located in the galley and related areas; and for all health aspects and sanitation criteria associated with the galley, serving operations, and associated areas. Schedules meal hours and supervises the service during each dining period.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"> </span></p>
<p><strong>PROCUREMENT AND MANAGEMENT OF PROVISIONS:</strong> Establishes endurance levels based on both in port and underway periods to the approved cycle menu. Economically procures provisions, through government and commercial sources, to meet standards of mess operations IAW established guidelines.  Procures and utilizes the appropriate type of provisions based on local availability and operating status.  Ensures all food items are monitored, utilized or transferred to preclude loss. Controls inventory cost based upon the cycle menu and established endurance levels. Ensures timely receipt posting and distribution.  Inspects all refrigerated spaces and storerooms daily.  Knowledge and ability to meet MSC inventory effectiveness goals.  Knowledge of and ability to provide training of Food Service personnel in the accurate procedures of receiving provisions.  Knowledge of and ability to requisition from weekly Prime Vendor Catalog through Food Service Management System (FSM).  Knowledge of Prime Vendor contract responsibilities/requirements when receiving food items.</p>
<p><strong>FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY: </strong>Must be able to effectively use computer and applicable shipboard software applications to include Food Service Management (FSM).<strong> </strong>Prepares the Food-Item Request and Issue Document (NAVSUP 1282) for all subsistence items issued to the galley.  Maintains NAVSUP 1282s on file for one year, ensuring that the total extended amounts do not exceed authorized monetary values as prescribed by General Mess Control Log (NAVSUP 338), Subsistence Ledger (NAVSUP 335). Maintains and prepares other food service forms required to substantiate the monthly General Mess Summary Document Report (NAVSUP 1359).  Ensures proper posting of the different types of expenditures (surveys, issues, transfers, and sales) and maintains required documentation on file for one year. Prepares for and conducts spot, relieving, and 90 day inventory and reconciles errors and adjustments immediately thereafter. Accurately prepares and submits automated (manual if required) monthly financial returns in a timely manner and maintains supporting documentation for the accountability file.  Knowledge of and ability to establish and maintain a Food Service Accountability file as directed in the Supply Procedures manual (COMSCINST 40002).  Ability to read, understand and process all daily (automated) reports produced by FSM.  Knowledge of and ability to use office Automation software.</p>

<p><strong>HOTEL SERVICE OPERATIONS: </strong>Responsible for posting operating instructions and safety precautions on all laundry equipment. Ensures standard solutions for washing, bleaching, scouring, and bluing according to type and condition of the articles being washed are utilized. Ensures all appropriate personnel are trained on the proper operation of washing machines, dryers, steam presses and flat iron works. Ensures that proper procedures for the accounting of clean and dirty bedding/table linen, napkins, uniforms of food service personnel, etc. are established and utilized.  Required ability to document performance and provide promotion or assignment recommendations of Food Service Personnel.  Ability to prepare and submit performance evaluation reports to the Master or Designated personnel as required.  Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of CPMI, DHAMS, EEO instructions and payroll guidelines.  Ability to provide recommendations for incentive awards, recognize outstanding personnel performance and advise personnel of Merit Promotion advancement opportunities.  Knowledge and ability to take effective measures to minimize breech of discipline and recommend disciplinary action as required.  In-depth knowledge of health aspects and sanitation criteria associated with staterooms, bathrooms, passageways, and laundry spaces.  Ability to schedule work assignments for Supply Utilityman (SU) working in Laundry and Habitability areas.  Ability to community effectively both orally and in writing using the English language.</p>

<p>If assigned to a ship without a Supply Officer (T-AE, TAH, T-ARC) or in the absence of the Supply Officer, the JSO assumes the duties of the Department Head.</p>
<p>The JSO reports directly to the Supply Officer or Master/CIVMAR OIC where applicable (T-AE, T-AH, T-ARC) is fiscally responsible and accountable for Supply Support and Ships Operating Target (OPTAR) accounts, oversight of Aviation Pack-up Kit (PUK) materials and Cargo Fuels Management  accounting. He/She is expected to comply, be familiar and up to date with all instructions, policies, procedures, regulations and TYCOM directives, etc. regarding Supply/Logistics Operations. Where applicable (T-AE, T-AH, T-ARC) JSO is responsible and accountable for the proper performance and administration of all supply department functions aboard ship, including the submission of accurate and timely reporting requirements, responsible for initiating training, cross-training and effective use of Supply Personnel. Ensure continuing application of &amp; compliance w/ EEO laws, regulations and policies.</p>
<p>Where applicable or assigned, oversees, supervises and monitors day to day supply operations. Ensures personnel are properly trained to perform duties assigned, clean and neat in appearance, attentive and polite in the performance of their duties and that prescribed work clothes are worn while on duty. Prepares and submits Performance Evaluations and/or recommendations regarding promotions and assignments of Supply Department personnel to the Supply Officer and/or Master/OIC as required. Participates in the incentive awards program recognizing outstanding department personnel, and counsels all personnel assigned on advancement opportunities or notice to improve. <p>Where applicable (T-AE, T-AH, T-ARC) or assigned has direct oversight of food service functions, and Exchange location programs IAW COMSCINST 4000.2 (Series). Ensures food service sanitation program is in effect and that food preparation equipment and spaces meet cleanliness standards required by DON/MSC instructions. Ensures adequate stocks of provisions are on hand to meet ship operating and endurance requirements.</p>
<p>Manages the material support operations (where applicable or assigned). Follows procurement, receipt, storage, Quality Assurance (QA) and expenditure procedures for all types of material (BP-28 Material, Depot Level Repairable (DLR), Sensitive Items, Mail, Fleet Freight, Personal Effects and Classified Material). This includes proper material identification, handling, inventory management, warehousing, packaging, and transportation. Procures all shipboard requirements using Government/Commercial sources, Defense Reutilization and Marketing Offices (DRMO), Reusable Residual Asset Management System (RRAMS), and all DOD, DLA, GSA agencies. Ensures proper material identification for both Government and commercial items using management data lists, allowance lists, load lists, technical manuals, parts lists, Navy Logistics Library (NLL), Master index of APLs/AELs (MIAPL), HAYSTACK and commercial off the shelf technical research systems. Sets schedules, conducts inventories and maintains inventory stocking levels IAW COMSCINST 4000.2 series. Monitors and maintains files, records, correspondence and reports for all types of material. Manages ship’s OPTAR. Responsible for proper financial management of Government Purchase Cards (GPC) procurement.</p>
<p>Where applicable or assigned, conducts configuration validations; processes and updates Allowance Change Requests (ACRs), Fleet COSAL Feedback Reports (FCFBRs) and Configuration Change Reports (CCRs); and conducts ShipCLIP training. Monitors supply effectiveness and takes actions to investigate non-supported and poorly supported equipment. Ensures that logistical support, including repair parts, tools, test equipment and technical manuals are obtained for all new or modified equipment or equipment obtained through micro purchases. During overhauls, with an onsite logistics representative, coordinates with Logistics Type Desk/Services Contractor to insure that ship configuration logistics support is obtained for all newly installed or modified equipment prior to end of overhaul.</p>
<p>Where applicable or assigned, as the Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) Coordinator manages the ship&#8217;s HAZMAT program in accordance with DON, MSC instructions and HICSWIN (AS, LCC Class Ships). Maintains inventory reports for all shipboard hazardous materials, receipts, issues, and stowage. Documents and turns in all excess HAZMAT and any hazardous waste. Submits new requirements to be added to MSC Authorized Use Listing (AUL), as required. Provides training for shipboard personnel in proper handling, stowage, and offload of HAZMAT.</p>
<p>Where applicable or assigned, is responsible for the proper use, training and administration of supply automated programs. As a day worker, you will perform general maintenance, repair, sanitation and upkeep of material, equipment, and areas in the Deck Department. The incumbent performs maintenance such as chipping, scraping, soundings, priming, painting and/or cleaning of the ship’s hull, decks, superstructure, cargo gear, smoke stack, lifeboats, rescue boats and/or life rafts, and emergency and damage control gear. Responsible for learning the location and use of emergency equipment, lifesaving equipment, damage control equipment, and safety equipment. Able Seaman performs all operations connected with the launching of life saving equipment and makes security inspections of the ships. Also performs other duties within the scope of the position.</p>

<p>The Cook Baker is responsible for the timely preparation and production of all bakery items. <p>Requisition and receive all bakery items needed for the daily preparation of the bakery menu products and ensure that all items are properly recorded and stored.</p>
<p>Carefully inspect all ingredients prior to use.</p>
<p>Ensure subsistence items, supplies and equipment are maintained in a neat, orderly and sanitary manner.</p>
<p>Assist in the proper care of perishable leftovers; wrapping, labeling and refrigerating all usable leftovers and unused provisions.</p>
<p>Assist in the cleaning and upkeep of the Baking areas and equipment; disposal of trash and garbage in accordance with environmental regulations; and cleaning and sanitizing garbage containers, lining them with plastic bags and covering when not in use.</p>
<p>Assist in taking inventory of galley/Baking equipment and utensils; report to the Chief Cook any necessary repairs and replacements of baking equipment and utensils; adhere to all principles of safety; and report any accidents immediately.</p>

<p>The Second Officer (Watch) is the Navigation Officer responsible for the navigational operations, reports, equipment, supplies, maintenance and resources of the ship. The 2/O also provides training to all watch personnel on bridge in safe navigational practices and in the proper use of navigational equipment to include deck alarm systems, fixed fire, smoke, flooding systems, security rounds and systems, and gangway watch<br />
procedures. Ensures that all standard navigation day&#8217;s work is performed by all watches and that operational checklists are maintained. The Second Officer (Cargo) is responsible for the operational readiness of all rig crews, underway replenishment gear, all running and standing gear, and the stowage and condition of the cargo holds on Cargo Vessels. During vertical replenishment (VERTREP), ensures proper methodology of helicopter cargo and personnel transfer is used, that cargo is properly staged and weighed, readied for transfer, color coded and transferred to appropriate destination. In addition the 2/O onboard Ammunition capable vessels is the Retail Ordinance Logistics Management System (ROLMS) Administrator and ensures proper entry for the requisitioning, receiving, and issuing of all conventional type ammunition. On Oilers, the Second Officer will act as Tankerman-PIC (person-in-charge), and be responsible for the loading/discharging of cargo petroleum products. The Second Officer Operations-Officer<br />

They will assist in the taking-on and offloading of fresh water, lube oil, fuel oil, and connecting and disconnecting all shore services. The Unlicensed Junior Engineer will know the locations of all fire fighting, damage control and rescue equipment in the engineering spaces. They will know the locations and how to operate all emergency remote shut down devices. The Unlicensed Junior Engineer will have a thorough knowledge of all casualty control procedures, main space fire doctrine, and rescue procedures. The Unlicensed Junior Engineer shall know all environmental protection and pollution laws. They will also have a thorough knowledge in the operation of all pollution abatement equipment. During under way replenishment operations the Unlicensed Junior Engineer will perform all duties as assigned.</p>

<p>The Ordinary Seaman will perform and/or aid other crewmembers in work pertaining to general maintenance, repair, sanitation, and upkeep of material, equipment, and areas that are the responsibility of the Deck Department. General maintenance consists of, but is not limited to: chipping, scaling, scraping, priming, painting, sounding and or cleaning of the ship’s hull, decks, superstructure, cargo gear, smokestack, rescue boats, lifeboats and or life rafts, emergency and damage control gear, and working aloft. Further, the incumbent will become familiar with general nautical terminology, boxing the compass, navigational running lights, rules of the road, including day shapes, sound signals and all distress signals. The Ordinary Seaman will also be instructed and assigned to perform traditional shipboard marlinespike seamanship duties that include the splicing of wire rope, as well as synthetic and natural fiber lines, reaving and unreaving blocks and falls, overhauling and maintaining both standing and running rigging, cargo loading, discharging, shoring, lashing, and rigging cargo nets, slings, ladders, boat fenders, tricing pendants and gangways. The Ordinary Seaman will also be instructed and assigned to perform general deck sanitation duties. This includes sweeping, scrubbing, sougeeing and conducting wash downs in general, and the sorting and proper disposal of trash and garbage.<br />
Performs other duties as assigned.</p>

Must have a thorough understanding, be well versed and be a proponent in the proper use of MSC&#8217;s ABS approved preventive maintenance and machine history program (SAMM) and special programs (e.g. lube oil analysis, fuel oil analysis, condition monitoring including VMS Megget, implementation and administration of MSC lockout/tag out program, water treatment, electrical safety, heat stress, sewage handling, refrigerant handling, and gas free engineering). Incumbent is required to be proficient in the performance of shipboard engineering, fire, and collision drills. <p>The Deck Engineer Machinist is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and operating deck machinery, Underway Replenishment (UNREP) machinery, and material handling equipment.  This includes but is not limited to the hydraulic systems, cargo fluid systems (piping and pneumatic systems), internal combustion engines, material handling equipment (fork trucks, pallet jacks, etc.), cargo handling equipment (cranes, booms, winches, etc.), ship’s boats including engines, associated machinery, davits and winches, hull structure (bulkheads, decks, bulwarks, railings), mooring machinery and UNREP machinery.  The Deck Engineer Machinist must also be proficient in the use of machine shop equipment (lathes, milling machines, drill presses, arbor presses, etc.), hand tools, hand held power tools, burning, brazing, and welding procedures (Oxy-Acetylene cutting and brazing systems, carbon arc, stick welding) and welding systems.  The incumbent will assist, observe and perform “Quality Assurance” on work done by shipyard or other shore side repair personnel, as directed.  The incumbent must be proficient in the performance of fire, boat, and damage control drills, taking initiative to perform emergency drills as required.  The Deck Engineer Machinist is directly responsible to the First Assistant Engineer and works under the supervision of the Second Assistant Engineer (Cargo).</p>

<p>The 1st Radio Electronics Technician is a watch stander in the Communications department and functions as a watch partner, supervised by the Chief Radio Electronics Technician, and carries out functions for the daily operations of the department. The incumbent utilizes Navy Telecommunications Publications (NTP’s), Naval Warfare Publications (NWP’s), Fleet Telecommunications Publications (FTP’s), Communications Information Bulletins (CIB’s), Communications Information Advisories (CIA’s), and Current General Message Files (GMF’s) to draft Naval and Communications messages. The incumbent operates, monitors and controls information systems in support of  worldwide telecommunications networks.  Assigned systems include CUDIXS, MDU, MDS, NOW, GATEGUARD, FSM, NAVMACS V2 OR II Systems, MISNS, and ADNS. Competent and fully capable of operating and maintaining secure Fleet Broadcast (FLTBROADCAST) Satellite Communications channels for classified traffic, CUDIXS Full Period Terminations to send and receive General Services (GENSER) Traffic and tactical information. The incumbent maintains databases on assigned communications computer systems. The incumbent performs MSC required preventive and corrective maintenance to communications equipment, and in performance of working, observes all safety rules and precautions in accordance with the Electrical Safety Program. Incumbent is required to be proficient in the performance of shipboard emergency drills, performing all duties as assigned. The incumbent is required to work aloft and over the side while maintaining antennas and other topside systems. Performs other duties as assigned.</p>

This includes but is not limited to the ship’s service generators, emergency generators, main and auxiliary switchboards, emergency switchboards, lighting and power distribution panels, power and control transformers, motor controllers and soft start controllers, dial telephone and sound powered phone systems, 1MC and associated loudspeaker and hailing systems, internal and external lighting circuits, general alarm systems and batteries, ground detection systems, metering and monitoring circuits and the various electric motors found onboard. The Electrician must be proficient in the use of common power tools and light machine shop equipment such as drill presses, pedestal grinders and arbor presses, etc.; and in the performance of fire drills and damage control drills, and in taking initiative to perform emergency drills as required. When assigned to a ship the Electrician must have a thorough understanding of special characteristics of each ship’s electrical system and special features that may be present for use in emergencies.  The Electrician is also responsible for supervising any 2<sup>nd</sup> Electricians that may be assigned to the ship. The Electrician assists, observes and performs “Quality Assurance” on work done by shipyard or other shore side repair people, as directed. The Electrician is proficient and skilled in the use of all common shipboard hand tools such as but not limited to; wrenches, pliers, chisels, hammers, saws, hand grinders, files, pneumatic and hydraulically powered tools, chain hoists and hydraulic jacks, etc. The Electrician effectively uses these tools in the repair, maintenance and installation of new parts to shipboard electrical equipment and machinery. The Electrician is capable of researching part’s information and using the ship’s supply system to obtain any repair parts required to complete the job. The incumbent prepares work lists and job orders for subordinates and assists the Chief Engineer in drafting voyage repair requests. The Electrician maintains accurate machinery history reports in the shipboard SAMM system.</p>

<p>The Chief Cook shall ensure that the approved menu is strictly adhered to and prepared IAW the approved recipes, unless the Chief Steward authorizes specificchanges or substitutions.</p>
<p>The Chief Cook shall inspect all galley equipment daily to ensure safe operation; rigid sanitation and proper maintenance are adhered to.</p>
<p>Ensure that every precaution is taken to prevent contamination of food, including proper thawing techniques; inspect all food before preparation and serving.</p>
<p>Ensure that all subsistence items, supplies, and equipment in the galley are maintained in a neat and orderly manner IAW NAVSUP P-486.</p>
<p>The Chief Cook is responsible for requisition to prepare all meals and managing provisions; once it is delivered to the galley; including ordering and returning unused food items to the bulk storeroom using the Food Item Request/Issue Document NAVSUP 1282.</p>
<p>The Chief Cook is responsible for serving line set-up, assist in training all serving line personnel, assist in training all dining areas food service personnel.</p>
<p>Ensure, that after each meal, garbage and trash are disposed of in accordance with environmental regulations and that garbage cans are sanitized, lined with plastic bags and covered when not in use; check all switches and electrical equipment, and the main switch to the deepfat-fryer, to ensure they are in an “off” position when not in use.</p>

<p>When required, the Chief Cook shall assist in the receipt and storage of provisions and supplies; or in any other duties within the scope of the position as assigned by supervisors.</p>
<p>The Chief Cook is responsible for learning the location of, and being familiar with the use of, all fire fighting and damage control equipment in galley areas.</p>
<p>The Chief Cook shall have complete knowledge of the responsibilities and duties of all drills held aboard ship; and carry out environmental protection and pollution regulations.</p>
<p>The Chief Cook shall use best judgment, initiative and unbiased evaluation to promote the smooth, efficient, economical and safe operation of the Steward Division.</p>
<p>The Chief Cook must be able to effectively use applicable shipboard software applications. Ensure continuing application of &amp; compliance with EEO Laws, regulations and policies. He or She will also be required to perform other duties as assigned.</p>

<p>The duties of the Wiper include cleaning and preservation of engine department spaces, systems, equipment and equipment components. The Wiper will be required to use tools such as chipping hammers, scrapers, needle guns, paint brushes, wire brushes, brooms, mops and is familiar in the use of hand and power tools. Participants receive formal training, on-the-job training and work experience. Participants can advance into the Wiper Advancement Program (WAP) or the Deck Engineer Machinist Apprentice Program (DAP). See website for position openings.</p>

<p>The Pumpman performs all work necessary for the safe and proper operation of the liquid cargo transfer system. This includes but is not limited to: liquid cargo transfer pumps, liquid cargo stripping pumps, liquid cargo coalescers and separators, strainers, filters, associated piping, valves, fittings, and deck machinery directly related to the transfer of liquid cargo. The Pumpman is responsible for performing routine required maintenance, repairs, SAMM, and Condition based monitoring repairs and maintenance actions. These activities include but are not limited to: correcting leaks, packing valves, and greasing fittings, glands, bearings and reach rods. The incumbent shall be fully capable of overhauling, repairing and rebuilding valves, pumps, reach rods, packing glands, and stuffing tubes. The incumbent is required to be proficient in the performance of shipboard engineering casualty drills, fire drills, collision drills, and performing all duties as assigned. The incumbent must have the ability to perform assigned duties and carry out instructions safely and efficiently.  The incumbent must take the initiative to perform emergency duties without specific orders or instructions. The Pumpman shall have a complete knowledge of MSC safety policies and practices, specifically including handling of flammable/dangerous liquids and confined space entry procedures, as well as the MSC Lockout/Tag-out program, procedures and policies.</p>
