A Journey to Hundred Islands, Pangasinan with High School Classmates

This week I gladly present photos from our Hundred Island adventure together with a few of our former classmates. We find this travel adventure quite memorable as we never planned to go as normal travelers would. Quite the contrary, as we just messaged one another one weekend morning just to go for a break-in ride on our friend Rhoda's Geely Coolray auto. More exchanged messages came, and in 20 minutes we all decided to go to Alaminos, Pangasinan!

Summer is already here in the Philippines and for sure a lot of tourists are planning to visit the islands these days. So here are a lot of photos we took which I am posting as my entry for Wordless Wednesday, Wordless Wednesday 2, Signs2, and Skywatch Friday. Gathered at the entrance of The Hundred Islands, Alaminos City, Pangasinan, we were a group of friends whose paths hadn't crossed in a few months. Yet, as we exchanged greetings and shared stories of our lives since our last high school reunion, it felt as though no time had passed at all. Laughter filled the air as we boarded the boat that would take us to the enchanting Hundred Islands.

As we approached the first island, excitement surged through us like a wave. The pristine blue waters, lush greenery, and limestone formations stood as a testament to the wonders of nature. We eagerly took photos and short videos to post on Facebook Reels, Tiktok and on our high school group forum. For a moment, we were teenagers again, filled with wonder and awe at the crystal-clear waters, marveling at the vibrant marine life below.

Our hearts raced, our spirits soared, and in those exhilarating moments, we felt truly alive! Our visit to Hundred Islands was more than just a getaway; it was a celebration of friendship that transcended time and distance.

Our journey to Hundred Islands in Pangasinan was a testament to the enduring power of friendship and the timeless joy of adventure. Despite our age of 52, we proved that youth is not measured by the years we've lived but by the moments that ignite our spirits and fill our hearts with joy. As we bid farewell to this enchanting paradise, we carried with us memories that would last a lifetime, reaffirming the bonds that bind us together, forever young at heart.

Happy Monday, everyone! I recently consolidated all the links where my social media accounts and online selling accounts are. These sites were the ones I kept busy recently, hence my long absence.

I was mostly active on Facebook for Facebook Reels since December. I didn't make it that well, but when I added a few of my hubby's not-so-funny reels; and my son Jayson's videos that I took, we got more views. It's still ok with 3700 followers.

And then I opened a Tiktok account to save some reels that were flagged by Meta, then added more random videos. These were supposed to be purely for entertainment purposes but here again I converted it into an online shopping platform via Shopee, Lazada and other popular brands.

As of the moment, the Beacon AI link is still in progress as I add more products available from Involve Asia, Lazada and Shopee platforms. Just excited to work on it and share! See you around :)

When it comes to immersing yourself in nature's vibrant palette, there's nothing quite like a visit to Farmers Love Agritourism Farm. From the delicate petals of morning glory flowers to the cheerful faces of sunflowers, every step reveals a symphony of colors and scents that soothe the soul and spark joy. So here we went again last summer at the flower farm in Pozorrubio for a short visit. And as expected, the weather is humid but thankfully there are umbrellas available for use to shield against the heat of the sun.

Visiting today is quite different from our first, as this time the first farm lot we visited is closed (under renovation), and now it's the second farm lot that is available for visitors which is quite an improvement with every corner revealing a new masterpiece painted by nature and the skillful hands by the caretakers.

Rows upon rows of meticulously cared-for blooms stretch before you, each telling its own story through its unique hues and forms. I absolutely love the colors of the flowers, and the field of pink and yellow Celosias are magnificent!

Going here is always worth it, we fully appreciate the beauty of the farm.

Wander through the garden paths and lose yourself in the kaleidoscope of colors. From the fiery yellow of celosias to the blues of hydrangeas, capture these moments with your camera or simply let them imprint on your memory.

Here at Farmers Love Farm, each season brings its own set of blooms, creating a dynamic and ever-changing landscape. After the rainy season it bursts forth with pink impatiens and morning glory, while the months before summer itself paints the scene with zinnias and cosmos.

Here above, they've got lots of blooms currently being cared for. I saw a bed of my favorite vietnam roses being propagated. I made a mental note to look out for these next time we visit.

And here below, striking a funny pose with the umbrella. Truth is we again made a funny mistake of visiting in the afternoon around 2pm, so we often would run to the nearest shade for cover,he-he. Thankfully in this area there are places to take a rest from the bright sun.

The flower farm is not just a place to see, but a place to be. Find a quiet shade, close your eyes, and let the gentle rustling of leaves carry you away from the worries of the world. Listen to the hum of bees and the songs of birds, and feel the soft breeze on your skin as you wander among the blooms. It's a reminder that life's simple pleasures are often the most fulfilling.

I couldn't possibly get those nice photos without my husband patiently taking those. It's great that his Realme c11 phone's data storage has more space and the phone's camera takes better photos than mine.

Remembering Our Heroes On Memorial Day - For Music Monday Move's Me

Glad to be back and join this week's blog-hop of Monday's Music Moves Me where the theme is "Memorial day songs remembering those who served which would be nice to share songs that person enjoyed or even songs that make you think of a particular fallen hero."

One of the people I knew who served in the World War 2 was my Uncle Joe who joined the Philippine Scouts. His story is the only one I have heard from my grandfather and mother then. He was the eldest brother from a brood of 8. He survived the war and came home. We do remember stories of the war him and my uncles, and the songs they used to sing. We often hear them whenever the whole family is back home in Pangasinan during the yearly Lenten breaks as we grew up.

Here are recent photos I took at the Bonuan Tondaligan Beach where a MacArthur Commemoration Park is being built. We've been there during one of our trips to the court for notarial services that day and we took videos for Facebook reels too.

And here are songs that were popular during 1945, which my folks love. Listening to these, I miss those songs we played on our gramophone.

A recently opened coffee shop with a splendid view from the rooftop is creating a buzz in our local town Mangaldan. I went there last December with college friends, as we were looking for a quiet place to stay and chat. It turned out to be a cozy venue and we happened to be there at 10am until lunch time when it was still not busy.

The coffee shop is owned and managed by our church mate at CFF Mangaldan. I've seen a lot of church members and leaders at the place, it is kind of our venue where we meet-up.

And sometime in mid-January, my daughter-in-law, my grand daughter and me went there at 4 PM, which turned out to be the beginning of the peak hours. There was quite a crowd already, I presume earlier than 4PM so it was close to full capacity.

Welcoming A Newly Adopted Chihuahua An Awww Mondays Post

Bree, our newly adopted chihuahua, is our first dog that we let reside inside the house complete with all the beddings for chihuahua, pet toys, chew toys and what-not. I think we may spoil her this way.

I'm glad that my hubby is so enamored by this little dog, though she's already a year old. We got her from my niece's house when we visited in December. They had lots of chihuahuas, it seemed to me. All 7 of them were a motley crew, I was actually scared of them at first :D but Bree gently came near to us.. and to my amazement, my niece said I could adopt her. Took me three days to think it over, but by Christmas eve, she was ours!

Our Happy Moments At Sky Ranch Pampanga Theme And Amusement Park December 2022

The Pampanga Eye is famously known as the biggest and tallest gigantic Ferris wheel in the Philippines. A ride can take up to ten minutes.

Have I been so busy going out lately? Ever since my trip to Baguio... Oh yes, I think so! :-)

This time, our daughter-in-law took us with her and Rain to Pampanga while they got health cards for travel abroad. After the office trip, there we were.. visiting SM City Pampanga and the famous Sky Ranch Pampanga in San Fernando City, Pampanga.

This is the first time I have been to Pampanga for a pleasure trip :) Personally I call this my post-birthday trip to Pampanga, as it was December 20th -after my actual birthday! We are so grateful to our daughter-in-law that we had memorable moments with her and Rain at the amusement park in Pampanga.

She doesn't look too happy :-) and we adults were just having a fun moment and chuckling at her determination

A Birthday Treat At Oh My Gulay Restaurant Baguio City

What a great weekend we've had recently as I spent an early birthday mini-celebration at Baguio City. This was truly unexpected, as we just intended to visit our eldest son and his wife for official matters. And since we are already there, we thought of making the most of our 2-day stay. Not even the GERD or shortness of breath stopped me, we went to much-visited places in Baguio City that we have not seen in 7 years!

One of the places we used to go to is "Oh My Gulay" vegetarian restaurant owned by Kidlat Tahimik, an awarded Indie filmmaker and co-founder of the Baguio Arts Guild. Going there this time brought me to tears, as I can't believe I was here again with my husband. We have always loved this place and a visit makes our Baguio itinerary complete. There is so much to see as each and every corner was made with artistic talent. It is a must-see for art and junk art enthusiasts.

Miracle Christmas Village At Calasiao Pangasinan Is A Tourist Spot During Christmas Season 2022

Greetings of cheer to everyone! We found a new attraction this Christmas season right here in Calasiao, Pangasinan! So excited to have seen the sights and share it!

This Christmas village was a concept from their town mayor, Mamilyn Agustin-Caramat as a special gift to the townspeople and to help promote the town vendors' products, especially puto (rice cake) for which Calasiao is famous for. They have done a very good job of decorating the place with magnificent Christmas ornaments and decorations, it feels to good to be there that I felt the Christmas spirit on
Christmas Day. The feeling I felt that evening was like that of a child going to a famous theme park!

The Miracle Christmas Village is open to everyone from 7 AM to 10 PM everyday for free until February 14, 2023. Be prepared though, the queue is quite long.. but worth the wait! Only 200 guests are accommodated for 20 minutes to see the Christmas Village. Children aged 12 years old and below are allowed to enter when a parent or guardian are with them.

Vaccination card is a requirement, but not mandatory. Still health protocols need to be observed at all times.

Food and drinks are not allowed to bring inside. Pets are not allowed as well. Littering is strictly prohibited in the Christmas village.

This place looks familiar to most of the frequent visitors of my blog, as I am always sharing the nature scenes from every season of the cropping calendar. Yes, this is still the same rice field but photo taken from the other side of the road, this time at the side of Sitio Buyan, San Jacinto, Pangasinan.

Unlike last year's harvest, this time we were right on time while the farmers and harvesters were at work. They got the final count of the sacks of rice harvested by lunch time.

Thanks for the visit, friends! I may be busy these next three weeks as we will be having guests from California. We are looking forward to that, which also means that we get to see more awesome places in Northern Luzon : Pangasinan, La Union and Baguio City. For sure I will be sharing our travels! Farmers Love Agri Tourism Farm Pozorrubio Is A Must-Visit For Flower Enthusiasts

Farmers Love Agri Tourism Farm Pozorrubio is now open for tourists and flower enthusiasts. It opened last Saturday, October 1st and we were there to see the attractive sights. The flower farm has been gaining lots of visitors since then, and is becoming one of the the most-visited tourist spots in Pangasinan especially for family and friends who want to create bonding memories and want to experience the charming atmosphere.

We didn't hesitate to go this time on its first day of opening, as Pozorrubio is just near our town. We took the short-cut road from our familiar route at Lobong, San Jacinto which goes directly to San Jacinto-Pozorrubio border. Travel is easier via motorcycle ride, and we no longer passed thru the main streets of Manaoag.

As early as September 24, we were gradually getting prepared for the typhoon. Getting emergency news alerts from our mobile phones was enough warning already to get me concerned. I wondered how strong this typhoon would be. And based from our past experience, Signal number 2 already means prepare for strong winds and heavy rain, and always pray.

The next day - Sunday, after attending church service, we checked on our sons at our old house. My hubby reminded the three young men what to do in case the winds are strong. All I did was secure our documents, books and photo albums - and other things valuable - in a good place away from the windows. As I always say, "these things are so valuable to me."

That afternoon and towards the evening, we waited for news from my son in Baguio City and our other 3 sons at our old house. To be honest, I think I was nervous thinking of the storm's strength from its label as Super Typhoon Karding. I just spent quiet time in the bedroom while waiting for alert, and watching updates uploaded on TikTok videos from where the eye of the storm is at that hour in Polillo Island and Burdeos, Quezon. Then there was great news that the storm weakened due to the Sierra Madre mountain range that once again protected the Philippines from the impact.

Around 12 midnight, I woke up to hear the strong wind outside and the rustling of the trees. It was not yet as strong as I feared, so I went to bed. I woke up every hour or so, listening for our pets, yet thankfully all was well. Waking up this morning at 5am, the cloudy sky and the swaying of the trees greeted me. It seems the typhoon was not so bad here in our town. Thank God always!

Trees And Mini-Gardens At The School Yard

After two school years without face-to-face classes, schools are now open in our town and are once again filled with students. My grand daughter has entered Nursery class this school year, and has been doing so well too. I've been assisting her lately during her online class at home, and I wondered how she is in their face-to-face classes so I went to drop by.

I was excited to see her, and was glad as well that parents and guardians are allowed to wait at the covered court for their children the whole time, until the children can brave it on their own. I think it is necessary for the first few months to be there, especially for those young ones still with school anxiety. So far, Rain has been okay with her classmates and teachers, and has been coping well.

I stayed with her mom that morning at the waiting area near the canteen while we waited for her.

So much has changed from the pandemic, there are a lot of rules to follow - which is great and assuring! I like this private school, which is one of the best in our town. A plus is that it is near our current residence, just a minute ride away from the school.

I am awed by the orderliness of the school and the facilities. The classrooms are also air-conditioned. The principal and the staff are sure doing a great job of managing the place. I took photos while I was there during the recess, as I looked around.

Then this tree in the middle of the school yard where a garden was developed caught my attention, with all its assorted plants.

As I was taking photos, a teacher asked me if I'm also a plantita, then he showed me around. He told me that he planted and tended all those plants there by the tree, during the lockdown in 2020-2021. I was awed by the assorted plants they had, as they looked new to me and pleasing to the eyes.

Road Trip To Manaoag Bargain Hunting For Furniture ~ A Skywatch Friday Feature

Last week, my hubby and I went on a road trip to Manaoag on an errand to look for bargain hunt for furniture to be used for transient places in Baguio City. Such was the trip to keep me invigorated and inspired to take photos along the way. I took photos of the bridge leading to Barangay Pao, Manaoag; and the picturesque rice paddies nearby as we stopped for a rest under the shade.

And the main purpose of our trip was to find out the prices of wicker lounge seats, which range from 9000 to 14000.. We spoke to Ms. Ella who owns and manages the place. I'm back again!

Yes it has been a long while for me to get back. First week of August, my hubby and I got sick with the flu-fever-cough combo for two weeks, and we were still getting our strength back for the next two weeks after getting ill. And the funny thing happened one after the other - which gave us the motivation to get up every morning no matter how we felt :) .. we are blessed that our dog gave birth to a litter of 7 puppies! These puppies are 5 weeks old now, would you believe that? They got mostly from their dad who is a pitbull terrier. And oh my, they're a funny bunch!

These pups keep us busy in the morning and afternoons. They walk all over the place. I've featured their short videos on FB Reels and TikTok this past week. Here, here and here

Then two weeks ago, around the time we were still recuperating, the mother doe (with the two bunnies, remember them?) She gave birth to 5 more bunnies, and as first time in rabbit care, we were amazed that mother doe had the next batch. The bunnies' video is here too

For one who doesn't go out much, I've been given a Level 5 rating as a local guide on Google Maps. Cheers for that!

Just recently I thought of making a note or a diary of places I go to occasionally, even the places I blogged about in the past few months. I thought of contributing photos, newly opened businesses, and answering queries from other Google Maps users. That is how I got that rating, and it makes me feel good somehow that I am able to share information for others who may be in town or looking for the directions.

So whenever we go out, be it in our local town Mangaldan, or Dagupan City, or the nearby towns San Fabian, San Jacinto, Manaoag, etcetera.. I put my phone's location settings switched on. That way it automatically reminds me the places I have been to.

A Busy Morning At Mangaldan National High School, Inspiring Garden Views

This day was quite a busy day at Mangaldan National High School where I joined the PTA meeting for parents of senior high schoolers. It turned out the place was so crowded, and I stood beneath the tall mahogany trees for relief. I took a photo above me as I was inspired to share this for Skywatch Friday as well.

This is the latest news in our country, especially for us in Northern Luzon. Thankfully we are not affected here in Mangaldan town, as only those from extreme Northern Luzon are affected : Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra. And other neighboring towns in Pangasinan, like Dagupan City and Calasiao.

Yet our heart feels overwhelmed with sadness for the hardship they are having. I pray that the government can effectively prepare for everyone and actively rescue those in danger.

Currently, the once busy street of Dagupan City is flooded. People from our province feel gravely concerned for this has been going on for more than 4 years, with no resolution in sight, despite the government's efforts.

Ordinary rainfall and high tide keeps the business district of Dagupan flooded during rainy season. Much more flooding is expected when typhoons and torrential rain occurs. When we go to Dagupan City, we prefer to pass by San Fabian and Bonuan where there is no water. And we bring with us extra slippers or rain boots just in case we need to tread in the flooded areas where the usual business transactions are done.

I likewise hope and pray together with the city people of Dagupan, that the honorable Mayor Belen Fernandez and the councilors can find a permanent solution for the flooding problem they have.

Hello everyone! Linking up with this week's SKYWATCH FRIDAY hosted by Yogi

Took a quick shot of this photo, as I felt inspired to gaze up while seated by the municipal trial court bench outdoors. It has been a long morning as we just waited for the clerk's notice for our turn. One of my hubby and I's duties is to attend to his younger brother's court hearing during his absence as he is going for treatment for months. The court hearing has been the 3rd so far, from a schedule of 6.

I'd say this photo is a way for me to assure myself that all will be well again after all the ups and downs in life, especially since May. Oh, wouldn't you love the normal day-to-day activities! I sure miss the normalcy :)

I took this photo last Tuesday, July 26th. And then the next day July 27, was when the earthquake struck our province, and the nearby provinces. Thank God, Pangasinan was not hit so hard. Baguio City, where our sons are, was not affected much. In people's minds, the trauma from the 1990 Killer quake is still there. Thankfully also that local government units are prepared in what to do now.

Wednesday morning was just the usual as we were attending to our daily chores at home. My hubby was at the nipa hut, working on fixing our rabbit cage while he was listening to the local news commentary on the radio. I was inside the house, by the dining table, coffee time while browsing on the internet on my laptop.

Much later, my hubby said "earthquake..." I didn't immediately respond as I thought it was just a case of vertigo :-) but then seconds later, I felt some shaking -- and to me, that felt quite strong already, so my son and I rushed outside, and we all headed toward the gate and opened it right away in case we needed to get to an open space. Oh my, I was quite frightened! We live in a small place made of concrete, better to be out right away, I thought. The shaking continued for more than 20 seconds, it seemed. I was thinking of our safety, and all our sons' safety.

When the quake stopped, electricity and water supply was cut off, as was the Wifi. Good thing I still had prepaid load for calls. Yet connection is so slow. Had to see the news right away, via my remaining available data. Where the epicenter was, or whatever news I could find.

I uttered a quick prayer that my sons in Baguio City were ok. There is that unexplainable common reaction of Pangasinenses and Baguio residents in the event of an earthquake. We are always reminded of it every July of that Killer quake in July 16,1990, that's why.

Sent a message via facebook group chat to all my sons near and far. Thankfully those who are in Baguio City are okay, even though there has been news of damage in other places there. My other son, who is in Taiwan, is quite concerned as well. We were all glad to quickly catch up and see that everyone was safe!
