May 15

I have often approached my purity, or lack of purity, from a perspective of, once I have talked about it, it’s dealt with and I don’t need or want to talk about it again until I absolutely have to. There is a problem with that though. Much like if you only clean your house once a month, there is a real problem with stuff piling up. Not only does stuff pile up, but you are likely to see some stuff that is hard and disgusting to get rid of. However, if you were to maintain your house regularly, you would find it much quicker and more effective to clean things. It has worked a lot like that in my life. When I only address it once in awhile, not only is it harder to address, it’s also much easier to talk myself out of dealing with it and then all bets are off.

         May 13

My friend Chris talks a lot about remembering your Spiritual North Star. Holding on to that moment when God told you go….this past year I have had to revisit that time in my life often. The thing is most of the time we only see what is physically in front of us. So even the normal things of this world (clouds, rain, snow and even daylight) can cause us to lose sight of God’s promises. So why is it’s always in the darkest times that His light shines the brightest? Just think about that for a moment.

It's been a long last few weeks. Traveling and doing photography for action sports athletes. A spill with boiling water removed most of the skin from the right side of my torso. Laying around on pain meds for a week and recovering by taking on too many last-minute media jobs before Sherah and I move overseas.

It may sound cliché to reveal that my spiritual life hasn't been all it needs to be, but God has His way of getting my attention. My pastor left last week and asked me to lead the our home study group. Not sure why I agreed. But then I realized that I would have to actually PAY ATTENTION in the service on Sunday(not stressing over , do my OWN studying and praying on the passage we were discussing: Intimacy.

Oops.

         Apr 23

Love is the most important thing on earth. In 1 Corinthians 13 Paul considers speaking in many tongues, having prophetic powers, understanding all mysteries and all knowledge, having the faith that can move mountains, and sacrificially giving up ones body to be burned to amount to absolutely nothing apart from love. He tells us that all other qualifications will pass away....only love will remain. It was in love that God breathed life into Adam; it was for love that Jesus traded his life for ours. God has many attributes, but only allows one to form his identity. God doesn’t just demonstrate love...God is love.

It is in this love that we have been called son’s and daughters of God. It is in this love that we have found purpose.

One of the most beloved stories in the New Testament is found in the book of John, chapter 8. It tells of an adulterous woman who was brought before Jesus by the Pharisees, and stands as a beautiful example of His love and forgiveness. We’d like to “boo” the Pharisees for their callous treatment and cheer for Jesus as He saves the day. But let’s look at it a little closer. While, of course, we know that the Pharisees were trying to trap Jesus so that they might be able to accuse Him of wrongdoing, they were right in bringing this woman out into the open. She was caught in the act of adultery, and according to the laws of Moses, death by stoning was just punishment.

The Ministry of Reconciliation

This week as I was praying for the team that we had on the street with the MST Project, the Lord impressed a section of Scripture on my heart to declare over our team. The section comes from 2 Corinthians 5:16-6:2 and it speaks of the ministry of reconciliation.

A Happy Marriage

This particular evening our team felt led to go to Nana Plaza and as we stopped on the other side of the street we asked God what was His plan for the evening. We prayed and waited a few minutes and then we decided to cross the street, to go to Nana Plaza.

Am I Qualified?

Tonight God broke down another wall for me. We hit the streets again looking for more men to show compassion to. My fear tonight was that I wouldn't be able to do something like this by myself. That I wouldn't be able to keep a conversation going with someone I meet in a place like this.

Tonight I went to the streets with a few guys to reach out to the men. We met a guy pretty quickly and he was very open to talking. So we sat down with him at a restaurant and just chatted like guys. Had some drinks and ate some food.

I had no idea what God had in store for me and my team. This was my second night out prayer walking within the red light district of Bangkok.

I’m constantly amazed at how God reveals himself in the unconventional, unique and fearless ministry which is the MST Project.

On my first night leading the Phnom Penh project late last year circumstances meant we couldn’t meet in our normal sanctuary for pre-MST Project worship and prayer.

What do you do when you have a broken world filled with broken people?
What do you do when you look around and all you see is pain?
What do you do when people are hurting one another looking for answers?

You pray.

You never know when you're on the street the impact you will make on most nights. We pray and believe that every time we take the streets our presence alone, because God is in us and making His appeal through us - people would see the light and glory of Christ.

This particular night my hope was just that.

My Prayer

As we entered the safe house in preparation for the evening’s outreach, my imagination pictured the young girls who came here in their brokenness, in need of a Healer. My thoughts turned to a prayer I had prayed for one of these girls, based out of Acts 16.
