Is there anybody I could contact regarding opening up a new Trail to bypass the new housing development on cloud view to connect to hieroglyphics?

This would consist of building a new trail through the National Forest property to parallel cloud view Road

I have the same 1995 GT Karakoram minus the front shocks! It had sat unused in the garage for over ten years until two days ago when I took it to REI for an overhaul. It looks like it will cost about $450, but I was assured my Karakoram will be as good as new and better than some new bikes currently being sold. I can’t wait to get back on the saddle.

Your story has invigorated my spirit to ride! Thank you!

I used to ride trail 100 back in the 80’s and early 90’s back then it was a Horseback Trail which sort of sucked to ride on because the trail was mostly loose pack. But the great part was, every saddle, there would be a difficult trail to climb up and over on my bike making it better. I clocked a lot of miles back then riding bikes with no suspension. 2 different beach cruisers converted to 10 speeds. And my first mountain bike in 1990 and second in 1992. Back then it was great because there were not a lot of trail traffic to deal with.

The bottom section that goes through the Scout camp has been posted as no trespassing. Reports are the shuttle drivers were rude to the camp ranger and there were problems with riders doing things like riding through a campsite, into an occupied tent, and breaking the camper’s leg. Not to mention weekly rescues on the trail.

Amazing trail! I took some clients out, renting bikes from tucsonbikerentals.org who rents mountain bikes right by the trail. I think it is best coming in from the south side like the other guy says and there are a few good places to eat nearby.

Some masterful riding on Geronimo shown in that wheelcam video. Need to know how much of a fork is required before even attempting to ride it aggressively. What was the maximum travel of the fork on that bike ?

Alas, my relationship with my 1995 Karakoram ended when the bike was washed away in the Hurricane Ian flooding on Sanibel Island, FL, a few months ago. I had taken the bike down there the year before to use as my island cruiser when staying at my condo. I loved riding my vintage restored Karakoram around the island, but it only lasted for a short time. Looks like I’ll need to replace the bike once the island reconstruction is completed.
