It’s our boxing film article turn today but I’m gonna disappoint you today because today’s film is not about boxing at all. However, it’s about fighting. Something that we all need to do to survive. So did Danny Trejo. This is a documentary film by the way. A story of fight and triumph, this is the story of actor Danny Trejo.

This multiple award winning documentary chronicles his life through raw and candid conversations about everything, from trying heroin at age 12, to armed robbery, violence and extensive prison time, including an emotional return to his actual cell behind the gray walls of San Quentin State Prison.

From despair to “Desperate Housewives” Danny Trejo’s life is an awe inspiring testament to the strength of the human spirit and all of it is captured in Champion.

This baddest guy used to be now becomes a role model to many people. You can find the DVD and watch his life and learn now. It really just is a truly great story to see. If you have no clue where to find it, just go to www.championmovie.com.

Now take a look at the trailer from YouTube:

Keep up good work Danny! He really is a real fighter!

The information you will get to read below is really useful stuff for anyone especially for those of you who do a lot of hard training like boxing or Thai boxing that always makes your body so intense. So knowing how to stretch is really important before and after the training. But if you still question why you have to do it, here are the reasons: btw I got this information from www.howtostretch.com, you can go give a little support at the site.

1. Muscles do one thing, and one thing only: contract. That is how they work. All muscles cross over at least one joint, (sometimes two) and the action of contracting a muscle causes that joint to move. Here’s a good example: Your quadricep (thigh) muscle originates from the front of your hip (the anterior superior iliac spine, for the technically curious). It crosses over your knee joint, and inserts (as a tendon, since tendons are how muscles attach to bone), to your shin bone (tibia). The action of contracting your quadricep muscle lifts your leg, and moves your lower leg forward, as it straightens your knee.

2. Muscles are the motors of your body. All action is due to their contraction. They can do more work if they have greater contractile strength. Contractile strength is greater when the muscles are longer. In other words, the longer the muscle, the more work it can do when acting on a joint. Stretched muscles are longer muscles.

3. Stretching allows greater extension of a joint when moving. For example, if you are a runner, if you stretch prior to running, your stride will be longer. If the stride remains the same length, then the involved muscles will be doing less work.

4. Stretching helps prevent injuries. The more flexible a person is, the less the likelihood of a torn or strained muscle. Over time, proper stretching strengthens both ligaments and tendons. Ligaments attach bone to bone, tendons attach muscles to bone. When you stretch properly, you are microtearing the fibers of your muscles, tendons, and ligaments. When you rest, your body repairs those tears, and you are left with longer, stronger, more resilient muscles, tendons, and ligaments.

5. Stretching promotes faster recovery. Stretching the muscles helps to move the toxins and waste products of muscular exertion out of the muscles and into the bloodstream, where they can be broken down and eliminated.

6. Stretching relaxes your body. Relaxing your body allows you to experience less intense negative emotional states.

7. Muscles that are tight waste energy. Stretching allows you to become aware of areas in your body that are held with undue tension, so you can release those areas.

8. Stretching feels GOOD!!! Anyone, at any age, can stretch. It does not matter where your flexibility level is when you begin, as long as you work at it you will improve.

Really useful, right? Thank you www.howtostretch.com for the information. You can go there for more like how to stretch your neck, your hands, your any part of body, you name it at the website.

Alright so back with our latest Muay Thai weapon: the Elbow. And we are here to show you some Muay Thai move. The explanation I write here might not help you understand and get the picture much but below you can click play on our YouTube VDO clip to see how this move is performed with your own eyes.

As you know, elbow is really unique in Muay Thai because it makes your weapon. But how to use it is not that easy, so that’s why we’re here to teach you. If you see any mistake, please let me know because the making production was quite fast and we might have missed something.

Don’t forget to check out the rest of the series right here in this blog site or you can subscribe to our VDO clips in YouTube for our latest updates.

Ok the move today is called the Horizontal Elbow. I said last time that this is the easiest elbow move and very often used as elbow technique. How to do the move is to swing your hitting elbow parallel the floor at the shoulder level from right to left if you’re using your right elbow and from left to right in case you use the left elbow. Confused? Take a look at the clip.

This Horizontal Elbow is called in Thai “Sork Tad” so if you see this name anywhere, it is the same with Horizontal Elbow. Targets for this elbow technique are chin, jaw, brow bone, and temple.

For more Muay Thai technique and lots more, don’t forget to come to our blog regularly!

Hi! Welcome back to our Thai Talk article right here in this blog! You can go back and read our previous Thai Talk 1-16 to learn Thai and the useful phrases that you might need to know. And today’s article is how to say “Bon Voyage” in Thai.

There are a few phrases you can say to wish someone a good and safe trip in Thai language. I’ll just tell you the phrases only this time without breaking them out for you into each word. However, in case you really are interested and want to know more in details, make a request right here in the comment section.

The first phrase you can say “Bon Voyage” in Thai is “Khor Hai Dern Thang Doi Sawatdiphap”. This really think this one might be too long and too formal if you want to say it to your friends. Try the rest!

The second one you can just adapt from the first and make it shorter. At the mean time, you will make it sound less formal. You say “Dern Thang Doi Sawatdiphap”

And the last one is what I think most Thai people use it with friends and family. You just simply say “Thiaw Hai Sanook” which more like “have fun traveling” something like that.

Ok so now you know how to speak “Bon Vovage” in Thai. Stick with us for more Thai Talk lessons that we are putting in here continuously each month. Who knows you can learn to speak Thai in a boxing blog site. Enjoy!

It’s always good to know a bit of the country you’re visiting in advance, right. And our article today is talking about money, something that for most people is the most important thing in their lives.

The currency of Thailand is Baht. There are 6 coins and 6 bank notes as following.
25 satang coin, 50 satang coin (no one really wants them today because they almost worthless but they are still willingly accepted in Supermarkets and mini-Marts and of course banks)
1 baht, 2 baht, 5 baht and 10 baht coins
10 baht (barely found used today), 20 baht, 50 baht, 100 baht, 500 baht and 1000 baht bank notes.

You will find the notes really colorful: 10 baht note is brown, 20 is green, 50 is blue, 100 is red, 500 is purple and 1000 is grey-brown.

The trick is to always have 20, 50 and 100 baht notes in your wallet. Especially when you need to pay for something really cheap like 10 baht (bus fare) and if you only have a 500 or a 1000 baht bank note, the bus boy might get real pissed off. And FYI, a lot small shops don’t have the much of change for you. I find many Taxi drivers do this trick, telling that he doesn’t have the change. Now if you are in this situation, ask the driver to stop at some shop and buy something for change or just ask the shop directly for change because you might get lucky not having to buy anything. Better yet, always keep some change in your wallet to avoid any problem.

Caution: One-baht gold is not the same with one baht. Baht can also be used as a measurement of weight for gold. One baht gold is 15.244 grams or about 0.5 oz of gold. And that will cost definitely not one baht. According to gold price today, one baht gold costs more than 15,000 baht.

Synopsis from MuayThaiChaiyathemovie.com: In mid-1970s, three boys from a southern village become friends while spending time in a boxing camp. Piak is a boxer whose young soul bubles with fighting spirit. Pao is a son of a Chaiya boxing legend. They both hang out with another local boy called Samor. Amid the backdrop of the peaceful South, the three boys spend time training with the hope of fulfilling their dream of becoming professional boxers.

Pao has an old manuscript of MuayThai Chaiya left by his father, and the three friends are hugely inspired by the elegant moves and forceful blows depicted in it. But their paths are strewn with obstacles, and their friendship faces an ultimately test when Piak and Pao fall in love with the same woman, a pretty nurse called Sriprai.

One day, Pao’s father returns. His name is Tew Chaiya, and he has disappointed after a match-fixing scandal that involved a boxing champion Krangsuk. Upon his return, Tew Chaiya begins to pass on the venerated principle of Muay Thai Chaiya to his son, as well as to Piak and Samor, making them the last practitioners of the ancient and mysterious art.

Soon the three boys are ready to conquer Bangkok boxing rings. In the capital, the debuting prizefighters are forced to learn the hard lessons in the dog-eat-dog world of professional boxing career, meanwhile Piak falls for a lovelorn go-go girl named Warn. The battle of the three friends is as brutal and breathtaking in as it is out of the ring.

Let’s take a look at the trailer from YouTube before you decide!

This is the movie in which you can see a lot of Muay Thai Chaiya moves. This ancient Muay Thai arts should never die.

You’re right that boxing can get you in good shape. But only boxing won’t really help you have those nice looking muscle on you. And I’m sure you all know that this is going to be all about food. I believe everything you do it has to be from inside out. So is your making muscle mass. But don’t you just curious what you will have to eat to get all nice muscle?

Well that’s why we’re here. Diet is really important if you need to build muscles. The foods you will need to eat and the foods you will have to avoid eating will be in this article below.

Let’s start with the thing that you should not touch at all or at least try to avoid having them even they are so tempting. First is FAT. That means any fatty foods you can find in any markets or grocery stores. Fat doesn’t help you gain any muscles but to make it worse. So no more French fries, anything fried. Be strong about this! You don’t want to just put on more weight by adding fat to your body parts not really muscles, right?

Now the foods that will help you build muscles are lean meats, fruits and vegetables! Only these foods will help you reach your goal trust me. You don’t really need a diet plans from a nutritionist. This healthy food is really easy to find but many people just avoid picking it up and putting it in their shopping cart. Lean meats are such as turkey, chicken and fish (all skinless). They are high in protein and amino acids which will help healing your muscles pain after the sport training and build new muscle mass. Foods with high potassium like strawberries and bananas also help healing your muscles. So it’s good to eat those regularly.

Just do it for yourself! With this good eat trick you will enjoy your Muay Thai boxing training even more because there are so much to get from it.

Welcome back! It is time we move on to the next Muay Thai weapon: Elbows! The series of short clips we are introducing and suggesting you to see next are how to strike with your elbows. So don’t go anywhere because all of these are free. By the way, we just finish all the Thai Boxing punching series, in case you wanna check them out, feel free to do so.

Elbows, the connected part of your upperarm’s bone and your lowerarm bone are sharp and hard and quite dangerous. They are the unique weapon in Muay Thai which can cause serious injuries on your opponents. Learning how to use it is quite useful. And here we are at our first Elbow strike move called “The Elbow Slash”.

The Thai name for this strike is “Sork Tee” or “Sork Fun” which literally mean “elbow hit” and “elbow slash”. The targets for this technique are such as head, forehead, nose, brow bone, eye and temple. It is used for attacking by bringing the elbow diagonally downwards against the target you decide to hit. The angle would be at about 45 degree, making it hard and sharp like a sword to slash the aiming target on your opponent.

If you want to add more power to the elbow, quickly turn your shoulder and hip and brace your foot against the floor so the power will run from your foot upwards to the hitting elbow.

Take a look at our clip for a clearer vision.

The move is not quite popular today since it’s quite hard and requires more boxing technique to do. The next move we will talk about this time will be used instead of this one because it’s much easier. Stay with us and see what the next move is.
