"A Place You Call Home" highlights MU's first class of Peace Corps Fellows - Julie Feeney, Kate Fjell, Craig Hutton, Matt Rysavy, and Nick Spina. After working abroad for two years, it is not surprising that these returned volunteers have many stories to tell - along with gems of wisdom - about their Peace Corps experience. After hearing these narratives, it becomes obvious why the Peace Corps' adage has become "Life is calling. How far will you go?" Learn how these remarkable individuals enrich conversations in the classrooms and hallways of MU as well as in the communities in which we live.

October 2008 ISSS Bulletin

The October 2008 ISSS bulletin contains reminders & information for students on an F or J visa.

Chinese painter's work addresses middle class

Someone holding a Starbucks cup is an ordinary sight for most Americans. A man purchasing a new car is not unusual to a middle-class person. The normalcy of these images is part of what MU graduate student Ming Zhou addresses in her art. Mizzou Reads offers incoming freshman the opportunity to read a pre-selected book, then participate in related discussions and events once they arrive on campus. This year's pick, Three Cups of Tea, tells the story of mountain climber Greg Mortenson's work building schools in rural Pakistan - work that eventually led to the formation of the Central Asia Institute, a not-for-profit that promotes education in remote regions of Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Read more about this year's Mizzou Reads selection in Vox Magazine (8/14/08)

Welcome home from study abroad!

To all of the MU students returning from a recent study abroad experience, welcome home!
