Please introduce yourself and briefly explain what you currently do. Hello, my name is Saralee Prasitdumrong, though my friends call me Bam. I am the founder of Beda Beauty, a local Thai brand specializing in skincare products and supplements. In addition, I work as an actress with BEC World and am a social media influencer focusing on beauty, self-care, and lifestyle. How did you build your career after graduation? After graduating, I began my career as a Bank Ambassador. A friend encouraged me to participate in a banking contest, and since I was still uncertain about my career direction at the time, I decided to give it a try. The opportunity to work in a large corporate environment would seem to benefit me because I would learn business management, so I accepted the position. The job experience was amazing and I thoroughly enjoyed performing my duties and the company culture. However, after two years, I decided to return to a field related to my degree in Finance. I pursued a position in finance, namely as an Equity Analyst Assistant at CGS-CIMB, a brokerage firm, where I covered Thai stocks for two years before entering the entertainment industry. Could you share stories about your previous job experience before you got into the entertainment industry? Prior to entering the entertainment industry, I worked as an equity analyst, specializing in the Thai stock market. My responsibilities included communicating with investment bankers, gathering information about companies, and publishing research on new IPO stocks to ensure our corporate clients, such as fund managers, were well-informed before making investment decisions. The role was fun and challenging at the same time. One thing I love most about the job is being among the first to learn about significant global events before they reach the wider public. What inspired you to start your own business and how did you get started? My sister and I grew up inspired by our grandmother, who successfully managed a company with over 50 employees. Her accomplishments motivated us to pursue similar ambitions. I love the art of doing business where one can create a company that represents who I really am. As a founder and director, I have full control over the company’s outcomes, unlike other roles where one’s impact is more limited. My business grew 1000% during the Covid-19 pandemic which proves that if you learn to surf the waves you will be able to survive whatever crises come your way. What are the next steps in your future career goal? What would you like to be in 5 years? I always have my life planned out. Every quarter I come back to revise my one-year, five-year, and ten-year plans to ensure that they align with what I am doing at the moment. In five years, I envision transitioning to part-time acting, using it as an opportunity to socialize and relax. My primary goal is to build a robust business focused on social enterprise, aiming to improve the lives of my customers and positively impact those within society. In your opinion, how would you describe the MUIC learning culture and environment? The learning culture at MUIC was perfect! I love that there are only a few students in each class, that everyone is encouraged to speak up. The staff, teachers, and advisors were incredibly supportive, and the library offered valuable resources. Overall, the environment exceeded my expectations and provided a nurturing and stimulating atmosphere for learning. What essential skills have you learned in college that apply to your career? “Life skills” I would say. While all the courses were engaging and informative, the most crucial skills I developed during my four years in college include adaptability to diverse environments, the confidence to express my ideas, and soft skills such as presentation and public speaking. These competencies have proven highly applicable in real-life situations. What advice do you have for current students about work-life balance as a full-time student at a university? Balancing is the key! Life is short, enjoy everything you do and never have regrets. Your time at college is the best time to step out of your comfort zone and try new things. If you succeed, great! If you fail, even better! Always remember that experience is worth more than money, so choose wisely in what you do. Gain as much experience as you can and money will come automatically, and never let go of your GPA because it does matter. Last but not least, LOVE YOUR LIFE! Motto “Good things take time, Great things take time and effort, Brilliant things take time, effort and discipline.” Name: Ms. Saralee Prasitdumrong MUIC Class of 2020 Major: Finance Position: Actress, Influencer, Founder of Beda Beauty Below is a PDF file to view.

The Yoguruto brand of yogurt drinks is a standout from the usual fare of iced coffee and iced milk tea concoctions in the market today. Ms. Aurkarn “Elf” Sumrualhan, Co-founder and Managing Director of Yoku Group Co., Ltd., the company behind Yoguruto, said, “Our menu includes yogurt smoothies with various toppings and flavors, and you can choose from six different levels of sweetness.” Opening its first branch near Mahidol University’s Salaya campus in December 2020, it currently has 80 outlets and is aiming to open 40 more at year’s end. It took some time before success was achieved, however. Ms. Aurkarn, who graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration major in Marketing in 2016, tried—with the help of her fellow business partners—several ventures that unfortunately did not succeed. Until finally, they realized an opportunity in the yogurt drinks industry. “Despite uncertainties and cautionary advice about the niche market, we pursued our vision with determination, unsure of the outcome. The initial success of our venture, with our products selling out on the first day, provided us with encouragement to move forward. This led to the expansion of our business, with the opening of our second branch within a short span of time.” Asked what fueled the success of Yoguruto, Ms. Aurkarn said, “I am immensely grateful for the support of my business partners and for our collective resilience in the face of challenges. Our journey has taught us the importance of perseverance and the willingness to learn from failures.” She was not discouraged, however. “Through numerous ventures that faced setbacks and failures, we gained invaluable lessons about resilience, adaptability, and the dynamics of the business world,” she said. She also gave credit to MUIC: “My university education played a significant role in shaping my entrepreneurial journey. As a Marketing student, I gained a comprehensive understanding of various facets of business, including global marketing, accounting, human resources management, and law, which have proven instrumental in navigating the complexities of entrepreneurship. Moreover, MUIC instilled in me the courage to take risks and the belief that failure is an opportunity for growth.” As a fitting conclusion to this interview, Ms. Aurkarn was asked for her advice to aspiring entrepreneurs among today’s crop of MUIC students. She shared the following tips: “First, focus on finding the right product and identifying your target customers. Understand the 7Ps (Product, Price, Place, Promotion, People, Process, and Physical Evidence) engage in trial and error to assess market viability. “Remain open to making necessary adjustments as you progress. Once you have clarity on your product, assemble a reliable team. Trying to do everything alone isn’t feasible. Your team should be competent and trustworthy, with each member assigned to tasks that match their skills. “Next, establish efficient systems to support your product and team. This may take time, but it’s crucial for success. During this process, you’ll gain insight into your personal strengths and weaknesses. “Don’t hesitate to seek help from others for areas where you lack expertise. Don’t fear failure; it’s often the best teacher on the road to success. Ensure your team shares the same objectives and maintains open communication.” MUIC’s Business Administration program prepares its students to be future entrepreneurs and managers, equipping them for the challenging tasks that await them in the business sector.

A year has passed, full of exhilarating and amazing memories! As the countdown to the much-anticipated “One Day Camp” ticked, over 400 participants —the most there has ever been—comprising 10 groups of freshmen, registered on May 11, 2024 at the Siriwitthaya Building (Liberal Arts Building), looking forward to what is in store for them with “CaoniaoMaMuang.” “CaoniaoMaMuang” was the ultimate fun event organized by the Sophomore Class Committee (CMM658) filled with surprises and traditions to pass on to the newly entered and previous participants of 668 freshmen. From 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, the freshmen all played different games at different stations hosted by CMM658 throughout the day. Games included “Demand and Supply,” a race between teams to cut geometric shapes and bargain them to get points; “Blinded Delivery” wherein one player guided another blindfolded player as he performed tasks; “Ice Age Obstacle Race,” wherein the goal was to race through all minigames and be the first to win; and special guest SMOjojojo with their thrilling game “SMOnopoly.” A rainstorm in the afternoon did not dampen the ongoing merriment that everyone was having. Essential needs such as lunch, dinner, drinking water, and other necessities were also provided to everyone who had joined in the fun. After all groups had played games from every station, all 10 groups came together to join in “Combine Activity,” an enormous event for more games, dances, and challenges to test out the skills of each and every group. This activity made it so that every freshman got the chance to meet and join with other groups, alongside getting to poke some heartfelt fun at each other and their respective P’Group. By the end of the day, after handing out free dinner and beverages to the freshmen, CMM658 prepared and organized a solemn and emotional “Candle Ceremony” a welcoming event for the seniors and the juniors, a traditional activity, formally welcoming the new students into Mahidol University and MUIC. Along with the candlelit atmosphere and warm wishes, “Auskeedoes Kuska,” guest musicians in the ceremony, brought in emotions that filled the room, surpassing everyone’s expectations for its lovely and delightful ambience. Additionally, more than 40 alumni from Class of 588 to 628 were also present enjoying and meeting the newer generations of MUIC students while also participating in the ceremony welcoming and giving blessings. A symbolic gesture of passing the candle to the new generations was also part of the event. In the end, when all the dignified and moving activity was over, more than 400 people danced in one last “Rubnong Medley” of 2024, from “MU Dee” and “Ali Gaga” to “Oh Ho Hey” and “Rak Nong.” All came and left with great memories that will last a lifetime, giving a strong sense of community among freshmen, seniors and alumni, will treasure this eventful moment forever and for years to come.
