The Pigtails Challenge is a new event organised by Van Phan May 24-27, 2012 at Lake Youngs Trail Renton, WA. There were three options available – 100/150/200 mile races and there were 36/3/9 runners for the aforementioned races. Tim Stroh won the 200 mile race and Van Phan was the first and only lady, finishing in 52:50.

Run Across America On Trail 2012

The Run Across America On Trail 2012 starts 9 am today in Twin Harbors, WA. This 80 stage, 3360 mile run has four runners taking part: Mike Samuelson, Marty Sprenglemeyer, Jennifer Bradley, and Justin Faulke.

A unique route has been chosen which uses rail and canal paths trails and about 2000 miles of road. The run finishes at Cape Henlopen State Park, DE on August 17, 2012. The route can be followed at the links below on Map My Run.

Siberian Black Ice Race 2013

Extreme World Races have details on their site about the the Siberian Black Ice Race – a 155 mile “Marathon” or the 379 mile Ultra-Marathon. The event takes place on Lake Baikal, the deepest and oldest lake in the world. In winter the average temperature is ?19 °C (?2 °F) and the lake surface freezes over. It’s upon this that the runners will run their race starting at Irkutsk, one of the largest cities in Siberia.

The event will start 11th March 2013 for the 155 mile race and 18th March (tbc) for the 379 mile race. Places limited.

The Croatan 24 is a new 24-Hour Ultramarathon taking place in the Croatan National Forest at the Cedar Point Recreation Area, Cedar Point NC.

This race is being planned and produced by RacENC of Kinston, NC
Starts – Saturday November 10th, 2012 at 8:00am
1.3 mile (Large Loop) Tideland National Recreation Trail
Hot & cold food includes a large variety of vegetarian options will be available in the HQ tent during the event.

Self-Transcendence 24/12 Hour Race Basle 2012 Results

The Self-Transcendence 24/12 Hour Race Basle took place 12th of May 2012. Welshman John Pares won the 24 hour race with 235.588 km and first woman was Denise Zimmermann with 206.907 km. Karen Hathaway finished second after being chased down by the early leader and achieved the Aviva GB & NI team selection criteria for the IAU 24-Hour World Championships in Poland 8-9 September by just 126m.

In the 12 hour race first man was Kai Horschig with 130.712 km and first lady was Monika Moling with 101.672 km.

The event also took in the Swiss National 24 hour championships which were won by Simon Schmid and Denise Zimmerman. The Swiss 24 hour Championships will alternate each year with the Brugg 24 hour.
