Manish,

The flex details probably contains only the bond name. For details on the bond itself, you might want to look into SE_HEAD and BD_BOND tables.

Probably you can set-up in your public.mxres.common.dbconfig.dbsource.mxres more than one database source.

You can get to a database within the same SQL server easily enough

1> select top 2 M_NB into tempdb..MYTEMP_DBF from TRN_HDR_DBF 2> (2 rows affected)

Then: RQWHERE('TRN_HDR_DBF.M_NB in (select M_NB from tempdb..MYTEMP_DBF )','')

works ok.

Your life will be easier if you stick to Murex naming conventions for tables (_DBF suffix) and fields (M_ prefix). [...]

Hi Manish, The best way to be sure about that is to put the log mode to debug, insert a bond option, and check in the logs the SQL generated, with that you can know the tables.

Hi All,

I am trying to get underlying instrument details for bond option. Which table I should query in Mx3.1 ?

In Mx Screen it shows as User definable block.

I was able to find some details RTBLOCK#RTBKSKL_DBF table

Christoph - Unfortunately - there is no easy way of doing this. One suggestion is to setup-up export jobs which will dump the market data xmls everyday and write some sort of parsers around it. In our version of Murex, this is a bit fragile in the sense - we support multiple regions and we have seen weird things happening when FO dates roll. [...]

Check all MPX* and MPY* tables. MPX* holds the structure for the market data sets which gets created at the time of roll of forst front office date (if you have more than one) and MPV holds the actual market data.

This requires a minimum of java 1.5, here we are using MX 3.1.17 and MLC 1.6.3 that both run with jdk 1.6_06 and it works fine.

You have to modify every java command for each service (put different ports), and you can put user and password for the remote connections. [...]

It seems to work fine with later versions of java. I am currently running 2.11 with 1.4.2_13 jdk version which is in the SOE and it doesnt seem to work. what version do you run this with ? Did you modify launchmxj.app in your EXTRA_ARGS or JVM_OPTIONS or in the java command for each service? [...]

We use a cluster of machines to host the middleware services. We have a process running on all of them which would look out for cores and convert them into pstack. We do not send all pstacks to Murex automatically. It is more on need basis. You will need the pstack grabber running on all machines because you'll need to be physically on that machine to get the pstack from the core. All of these pstacks are then put into a network share available from all machines on the cluster. [...]

Is there any business monitoring which you feel I can include in my requirements ? How do you manage yur core dumps and hs_err ( jvm blowouts ) in production ? Do you take a pstack and send it all to murex or do some more analysis at your end [...]

We actually developed this tool a few years back. It is called the iME (Iridium Montoring Engine) and it does what you described plus a bit more. It has been in production since 2005.

Hello,

Unfortunately, there is no 'out of the box' solution, but Murex provides enough .log files to make you happy.

But if you're good at scripting it shouldn't be a problem at all to get you started.

I recommend you to monitor remotely the Murex java processes with:

You need to put the next properties in the launchmxj.app for the required java launchers:

There are some good tools although not free available. You can look at AC2 (Active Console 2) where most of the things you mention below can be configured. We use this tool across different platforms.

Have a look at Nagios (http://nagios.org/); it can monitor services and logs (plus all the Unix stuff of course) and you might be able to develop your own probes to check for cores/hs_err etc ...

we are working on Murex 2.11.34.7. We have a request to copy the last updatime time of each price in MDCS to realtime/Reference set in database when we copy prices.

We use the processing scripts MD.EXPORT.MDCS and MD.IMPORT.MDCS to do it. Everytime we use them, all timestamps in cache and database are set to the launch time of processing script, loosing all valid values (the last update times from service rtimport_cache). [...]

can you please check the following on all of your environments and make sure the values are unique for each environment:

fs/public/mxres/common/dbconfig/dbsource.mxres (database/schema names and logins) fs/public/mxres/sites/sites.mxres (pay extra attention to the IPAddress values have not 'crossed over' into other environments) mxg2000_settings.sh (MXJ_FILESERVER_HOST, MXJ_FILESERVER_PORT) [...]

Prabhakaran,

If services from an environment are talking to services on another environment, it means something is wrong in your configuration files (hosts, port numbers...) You should first double check each config (especially mxg2000_settings.sh, sites.mxres, murexnet.mxres)

you got configuration problems.

even before focus on mxml, confirm the following,

the important configuration will be the sites.mxres besides the mxj launcher and mxj settings.sh file. in order to have three different test environments, you can give a unique name for the sites as site1,site2 and site3.

i presume, the port settings for the fileserver,xmlserver,murexnet and sites need to be very unique to each environment. can you confirm that? [...]

one more thing you may want to check is make� sure the MxML you want to import is correct. (no invalid tags or wrong� financial data in the� MxML that possible cause the Trade Repository to fail.) 1. When you killed launchermxrepository in ADMIN->MX_MIDDLEWARE_SERVICES->LAUNCHERMXREPOSITORY, you've killed the launcher only, not the actual trade repository processes that are doing the trade inserts. To kill the actual trade repository process, goto MONIT -> SITE 1-> MXTRADEREPOSITORY. Kill off all processes running there.

2. MX_MIDDLEWARE_SERVICES->XML HOME SERVER-> START SERVICES should exist in MX 3.1.16 version of the MONIT tool (see below pic), coz that's what we're using here at the moment - unless this function is license dependent ....:-) [...]

Hello Michael is right , nevertheless you should also check if this is not related to your transactional middleware(MQ , Tuxedo ,...)

Sometimes , it is that so in that case murex is not to blame . Have a look I have seen the same issue in the past .

Hi Chang / ram, Thanks for your reponse guys I am using Mx 3.1.16 version and OS is SunOS 5.10. I am not able to see any trade repository process when i do ps -ef | grep "TRADE". I killed the launchermxrepository in Admin->MX_MIDDLEWARE_SERVICES->LAUNCHERMXREPOSITORY and restarted the services. it did not help me to solve the issue. I wonder why Traderepository process is not being shown when i do grep. moreover I do not have (MX Middleware Services->XML Home Server->Start Services->MXTradeRepository.Engine)� in 3.1.16 like in 2.11. I have� options like (Ping,kill,show client transport, show log tree, execute Tail, Execute Pstack, [...]

it could also be a leftover traderepository service that has been orphaned. We've noticed that although you stop all MX services, the trade repository services don't always die .....

First thing to try: /usr/ucb/ps -auxwwwwe | grep $LOGNAME | grep -i "traderepository" | egrep -v "ucb|grep" if you have a process that has a parent ID = 1, then kill it ....that should fix your problem. [...]
