When was the last time you fell in love with a romantic song? From action flicks like ARMAGEDDON to comedies like BRIDGET JONES’ DIARY, music has played a huge part in highlighting romantic scenes. With Valentine’s Day just around in the corner, we’ve come up with thirty-five of our favorite movie love songs from these films.

For January 2010, we are featuring a free piano sheet music download of the WALTZ FOR PIANO OP. 39, NO 15 in Ab composed by Johannes Brahms.

This particular waltz is part of a collection of works that were composed by Brahms in the mid-to-late 1800s. The pieces are often referred to as the Hungarian Dances and this particular waltz is one of the most popular and the easiest to play in the collection.

This month’s free Guitar Guru Session and guitar tab is the tango entitled EL CHOCLO. Composed by A. G. Villodo in the late 1800s, EL CHOCLO was the “first” published tango. Translated to “The Corn,” this tango was first published in Argentina, and later published with lyrics which are not included in our version.

2009 was also a big year for fans of video game sheet music, because we added a lot of songs that you had requested to our repertoire. Songs featured on GUITAR HERO and ROCK BAND continue to be a big hit with many of you, and we’ve heard from some of you that you’ve picked up a guitar for the first time. Of course, the big video game news this year were songs featured on BEATLES: ROCK BAND. We also added BLUE DRAGON sheet music, too!

Many of you have a renewed interest in playing your instruments or singing because of YouTube! American Idol, X-Factor and other talent shows. Susan Boyle was a pretty big phenomenon, as was Tunecore artist Gavin Mikhail. This year also had its share of bad news as well, for both guitar legend Les Paul and the king of pop, Michael Jackson, had passed away. To honor their memory, many of you expressed a renewed interest in songs that they had performed.

For those of you who love Broadway shows and musicals, this was an exciting year for you! We celebrated the 70th anniversary of THE WIZARD OF OZ, had an interview with Georgia Stitt, offered sheet music for LEGALLY BLONDE: the MUSICAL, and talked about 2009 Movie Musicals. Not included in that list is sheet music from SHREK: the MUSICAL, which debuted late this year.

For those of you that love Broadway sheet music, we’ve got a new selection of songs composed by Jason Robert Brown for the musical PARADE. This murder-mystery musical takes place around the early 1900s. PARADE was nominated for several Tony awards and won in the category of Best Original Musical Score and Best Book of a Musical. Ever since the CD Resistance debuted, fans of the band “Muse” have been requesting sheet music for songs from the album. One of the songs, I Belong to You (+ Mon Coeur S’ouvre a Ta Voix) was also featured on the soundtrack for NEW MOON. This experimental rock album also features several piano-friendly songs, too!
