Nokia 5800 XpressMusic a.k.a Tube is the best cellphone in its class. I owned one with the blue casing and it comes with two other color, silver (also known as black edition) and red color. Running with Symbian’s new version 5 platform brings new meaning to touchscreen phone’s world.

Touchscreen phone? You all think about iPhone right? Don’t compare Tube with iPhone because they had different price class. With one iPhone you can buy two Tubes and yes, Tube is more affordable with mid-class geek like me.
Besides, Tube also can performs what iPhone does. With 3G capability, Wi-Fi, GPS, two camera at front and at the back, etc makes me said this is all in one cellphone with reasonable price.

With 3G, you can make video call and surfing the internet with high speed connection. In my experience with 3.2? screen make internet surfing more fun and spacious for my eye. Equipped with FlashLite in the build-in internet browser makes my life good to watch the latest hot music video from mtvasia.com and youtube.com.

While hanging out with someone and waiting for someone in the shopping mall, just turn on my Wi-Fi and start connecting to internet to save me from my GPRS or EDGE charge. =)
Plus, I can chat with my friend at Gtalk, MSN, Yahoo! Messenger, Skype, Twitter, Facebook and other networks via Nimbuzz.

What could be even better a phone with GPS function, along with Assisted GPS technology that help me to lock my position even faster. Then start navigating to the new place that I want to go.
About the camera, 3.2 megapixel camera (2048 x 1536 pixels) at the back is more than enough as camera phone to take a picture and record the video.

My life without music is boring. That’s why I get this cellphone to cater my ear and soul with crystal clear hi-fi sound quality with dedicated audio chip in it. When I had time to kill, I played the fun game that use Accelerometer (sensor) like Global Race Racing Thunder, Rescobubles, Moolan and sometimes play that Racing Thunder with my friend in multiplayer via bluetooth connection.

There’s so much I can do with my Tube. I love it very much. The best gadget I ever owned. All in all, best price with the best features. ;)

Then use your Y-Browser to set the folder’s attribute that you just created to “Hidden”. There you go, your files have been hid from the Music Player.
If you wish to use your ringtone file, unset the hidden folder, and use it. After that, switch back to hidden attribute (to hide from Music Player). As easy as that. =)

** Tested on my Nokia 5800 Xpress Music, I think same trick can be applied for all Symbian OS. Good Luck =)

Last few day I was checking via Nokia Software Updater (NSU) for my Nokia 5800 firmware update, was shocked at that time because feel like the update are not available yet, but there I am, new firmware version v20.0.012 for my blue tube. Without taking any further, I press next and start downloading, the files is about 131.1MB, and I have heard about updating via Firmware Over-the-Air (FOTA) that only 15+MB size of file.
Make sure your phone have enough battery life because the low battery life will interrupt the process. And don’t be worry, you can charge your tube while download (updating) the firmware files.

* Some new things that I found in this major update are:
1) You can now use front camera to take picture.
2) The full qwerty keypad lot bigger I think. =)
3) Speakers’ sound now more louder.
4) New application like Dictionary Eng-Eng (version 11.0.08 Eng-Chinese)
5) New icons
6) Search on the home screen is now “search internet and my content”, Google Search added as a service
7) Screen rotation react more faster
8) Podcasts menu is added to the Music Player.
9) Other changes not affect me much =P

* The things I wish Nokia should fix next time:
1) Progress bar while sending a service command
2) Visual emoticon for SMS like my old 5300 Xpress Music
3) Recently used reciepient option for fast adding SMS receipient number.
4) Progress bar while applying theme? I haven’t see one. Because while applying theme, sometimes the theme fully loaded and take much time to load it, then need the progress bar though.

Overall, the update was good, nothing serious bug I found so far.
For those who not yet update your firmware, go for it and good luck.

Connect with automatic setting take more time than connect with manual setting. On automatic Wi-Fi setting, the machine will communicate with Gateway to get the available IP (Internet Protocol) address on that time but different with manual setting, your machine will tell the Gateway to set your IP that you currently set the configuration without making the Gateway to resolve the available IP for you.

All you need to do is change the IP address in your Wi-Fi Connection Properties but before that, you must know what is the Gateway’s IP address. To do that, you must connect first to that network with automatic setting and for the next time you want to connect you can set it manually. After successful connected, follow the steps below:

1) Go to Start button and click Run…
2) Type “cmd” (without a quote) then press Enter or click OK button to run the Command Prompt.
3) In it, type IPCONFIG to check the Wi-Fi LAN Gateway IP address it should be like this
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1
(Note: the Gateway IP address may be vary depend on the router’s configuration)
4) Minimize the Command Prompt window for your reference to set the Gateway IP number in the IP Configuration later or if you able to memorize it, you can close that program.
*** Before you want to set the setting, I have to tell you that your current connection with the router will be reconnected, but do not worry, because when you done setup with your own configuration, the next time you connect with that network, it would be ease and fast.
*** The setting only work with that network and you have to set another setting when you wish to connect to the different network unless the Gateway IP address on the other network you want to connect same with the current one.
5) Go to Start > Control Panel > Network Connections > WLAN (your Wi-FI LAN connection) or Start > Connect To > WLAN (if you have the shorcut) or go to your systray/trayicon and double-click the WLAN Connection icon > “Change advanced setting”

6) Select the “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)” then click Properties button. It should pop up the “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties”
7) Click “Use the following IP address” radio button. Fill the “IP address” with your want-to-be IP for example 192.168.1.239 (Note: depend on subnet mask router setting, if its setting 255.255.255.0, you can change any number between 2-253 on the “.0″ column, if its has 255.255.0.0, you able to change to different number in two column of “.0″ — i.e : 192.168.239.239. Usually the router only let you change the last column only like I mention in the first example)
8) Type in the Gateway’s number that you get from Command Prompt back then, 192.168.1.1
9) On the “Use the following DNS server addresses:” just let it unfill, because the router will retrieve the address for the network.
10) Click OK, then click OK again on the WLAN Properties.

And you are done setting your configuration manually. This can be applied to the Infrastructre or Ad-hoc network and it depends on the submask (subnet mask), usually the ad-hoc / peer-to-peer connection, its submask is 255.255.0.0 and this tell you you able to change any number like I mentioned above (step 7).

Good Luck~
