Muze Entertainment teams up with Savage Race

Are you Savage? Muze Entertainment, who in the past year has secured accounts with major companies like Ultra Music Festival, sure is. And the second annual Savage Race, a 4-6 mile obstacle course designed to push you to your limits, has realized this. After looking into 6 different companies to provide audio and visual entertainment for the March 10th, 2012 race in Claremont, Florida, Savage Race chose Muze Entertainment to fill those needs. Energetic music and other crowd favorites will be provided by DJ Jefferson Funk, one of Orlando's hottest up-and-coming DJ/producers, and one of Muze Entertainment's star artists.

Jefferson Funk, Chris Shendo release updated new websites

Earlier this year, Chris Shendo and Jefferson Funk released their own websites, full with downloads and links to purchasable tracks. Thanks to this, both artists have seen an increase in their online presence and popularity overall.

It hasn't been incredibly easy, however. Chris's original website was flash-based, and had to be completely converted and re-written, due to browser-based errors and unfortunate placing. The newer version, in basic html coding, is noticeably easier to peruse and load, and has been tested in multiple browsers to ensure proper use. Chris Shendo's website now features a page filled with free downloads of his most recent remixes, a page with previews of all his tracks available in Beatport, iTunes, and more stores, a bio, and a contact page, all of which is a more stylish version of the original website.

Jefferson Funk's website has seen far less issues, as it was originally coded in html and had a little more time to develop. His site features a media page, full of links to other artists and both live mixes, original tracks, and remix/rerubs performed by Jefferson Funk and a Contact page.

Jefferson Funk advances to the Buzz Boat semi-finals!

That's right, through over 100 submissions and 6,000 collective votes, 6 semi-finalists have moved on to be selected as on of three possible winners that get to compete directly on the Buzz Boat! Of the six, Muze Entertainment's own Jefferson Funk came in with close to 1,000+ votes! Other semi-finalists include Bulla, DJ Hart, DJ Zvi, Flynn Strada, and Skektek.

Now we wait, as some of the worlds top DJs go through the mixes and select 3 of the six to compete on the Buzz Boat. Here's wishing Jefferson Funk the best, and we hope to hear his name on July 22nd when the winners are announced! Why not go over to his facebook page and give him some well wishes?

DJ Jefferson Funk is one of many entries in the contest to perform live on the 2011 Buzz Boat Caribbean cruise, in October 2011. Jefferson Funk has the advantage of being one of the DJs on the roster for the original Buzz Boat cruise, and expects to be the winner in this years contest!

The Re-Rub Competition

Muze Entertainment and MuzeTV are pleased to announce the launch of a new weekly competition, entitled 'The Re-Rub.' This competition will begin every Friday night, and will be a part of our weekly Monday night broadcast, Vynil Destination.

Rules are as follows:

1.) The re-rubber/artist can not add any sound or sample that is not in the original works. ( no samplers, no synths, no drum machines)

1a.) Effects (delay, reverb, chorus, flanger, phaser, etc) are allowed.

2.) All entries must be emailed to info@muzeentertainment.com by midnight on the following Sunday. This gives the re-rubber/artist 48 hours to finish their entry.

3.) All entries deemed worthy will be aired on Vinyl Destination, which airs every Monday night from 8pm-12am

4.) Voting will consist of a live, online poll, with that week's viewers as the judge. The Re-Rub with the most votes wins.

Winners of the Re-Rub competition will be contacted later in the week concerning the prize, which includes but is not limited to T-shirts, VST/AU/RTAS plugins, free music downloads, and more.

The M&%@# F$*#@ Catalina Mixer!

That's right, kiddos: It's time for the second-annual Catalina Mixer, March 8-12 in South Beach, Miami, for Winter Music Conference 2011. Last year, Muze Entertainment hosted an all-day week-ending party on the Sunday following the 2010 Winter Music COnference. This event saw DJs and artists from all over America coming to get down! The event was so successful that this year we have extended it to a FULL WEEK! Not only that, but this year sees such headliners as Tommy Sunshine and DJ Val, with support from some of the best unsigned DJs around. Check out the flier below:

WMC Open Casting Call announced

Muze Entertainment has officially announced an open casting call for 2 of 4 events to be held at this year's 2011 Winter Music Conference.

Based on the success of last year's week-ending event, seeing hundreds of patrons coming in to check out the event, The Catalina Resort and it's venues have welcomed Muze Entertainment back for round 2. This year's events, featured on Mrch 8th (Tuesday), March 10th (Thursday), March 11th (Friday), and March 12th (Saturday), will feature multiple artists from around the world. Along with this, Thursday nights event will feature a full roster from Dark Planet, and Friday's show will feature all A+ Records artists.

Tuesday and Saturday's events are planned for all day, and will feature many prominent DJs from around the world. If you are interested, please send an email containing a demo and marketing pack (pics, bio, logos, links) to info@muzeentertainment.com.

DJ Dan presents 'Future Retro'

Celebrating his 20th year in the electronic music industry, DJ Dan is currently promoting his new release 'Future Retro,' an entire CD of electronic music covers. Not remixes. Covers. What's the difference? DJ Dan says it best himself:

"Sampling has always been there. It will also be a part of it...I wanted to take the tracks that inspired me, and not jsut sample them but recreate them as a celebration of my 20 years in the business."

Personally, I feel that I (and many other remixers) attempt the same through remixes, but hey, I'm not about to argue with DJ Dan. Here's a little promo:

So, there it is. The tracks are available on Beatport right now, and I'm sure if you catch Dan over the next year (or at WMC!!!!), you'll hear these tracks a lot.

Big & Hearty Festival a success

Muze Entertainment has just returned from this year's Big & Hearty Festival, and had a great time there over the weekend. A fully-detailed review will be up later this week, with a few highlights from DJ Jefferson Funk's set! Big ups to Grooveshark for their internet tent!

Caspa & Mr. Hudson, ‘Love Never Dies (Back For The First Time)’

OK... when Kanye West says publically in an interview that you could become bigger than himself, you know you are on to something. These very words were uttered in an interview on MTV with Kanye West and Mr. Hudson, a British R&B/Pop star. This track has him joining forces with Caspa for a smooth summer jam, with just the right amount of dubstep to keep the headz rocking. (And since Mr. Hudson is on Kanye's G.O.O.D. Music label, could a Kanye or Kid Sister/Caspa collab be on the way? I would more than likely buy that one!) Check it out:

This track isn't for everybody, but anyone who loves music and not just the "wikka-da wikka-da WOMP" of stereotypical dubstep will find a new song on there iPods this summer/fall. This track can be bought in online music stores everywhere, including Beatport

DJ Jefferson Funk to play Big & Hearty Music Festival - Labor Day Weekend

DJ Jefferson Funk has been added to the long list of artists playing at this year's Big & Hearty Music Festival, which takes place in Gainesville on Labor Day weekend. The festival starts Friday, September 3rd at noon, and music starts at 6pm. Here's the line-up:

There's also an all-night dance tent and a music and art expose tent. Advance camping tickets are only $40, which is a great deal for 3 days of music! Buy tickets here.

Deadmau5 collapses onstage

I guess the heat inside that huge mouse head finally got to Deadmau5... At his recent show in Washington, D.C., Deadmau5's set went silent as he apparently collapsed from exhaustion. His upcoming shows in Osaka, Tokyo, Budapest, Mykonos, Barcelona, and at Ibiza’s Amnesia have been cancelled. Here's a little video from the Washington, D.C. show.

You cannot see him in this video, though you hear the abrupt stop of his set.

But in all seriousness, this guy has seemingly toured non-stop since becoming big not long ago. I am surprised he didn't pass out from exhaustion before now! Here's to hoping for a speedy recovery for you, Joel.

A Lesson in Bay Area Slang - Rafael Casal

How to copy vinyl records

This one's pretty cool...Over at the DIY bog Do It: projects, plans, and how to, they have shown an interesting way to copy a record...essentially making a dubplate. More after the pic:

Looks pretty easy...of course you'll have to clean up the copy a bit (around the edges) and there is no info on the amount of generational loss (i.e. poorer audio quality will be on the copy, but how much? Will it even be noticeable to the human ear, sort of like mp3 compression?), or how many times the copied record can be played before it is wore down, but this has 'fun weekend activity' written all over it...and hey, how cool would you be to be the DJ that gives away his records after sets??? 19 dead at this years Love Parade - MuzeTV sends our condolences

We want to extend our deepest sympathy to the friends and families of the 19 killed at this year's Love Parade in Germany. The state of affairs with events can sometimes get out of hand, and sometimes it takes a tragedy to realize what needs to be changed.

For those who do not know yet, 20 people were killed and hundreds were injured when a panic stampede broke out at the entrance/exit tunnel of this year's Love Parade. Police and the people throwing the festival were warned of overcrowding as late as a year ago, but did nothing. Policed pleaded with the people throwing the festival to not have it this year, at least not at the same venue, for fear that something like this would occur. More info after the jump:

Due to this tragedy, the Love Parade has been cancelled indefinitely.

I've heard the term "chicken-head" before, but this chick takes it to a whole new level:

For those who do not know, that is Bellatrix, the UK's leading female beatbox artist. Check it out, she even did a little video for Nokia. Like othe beatbox artists from around the world, she also uses looping and effects in her shows, allowing her to create unimaginable sounds using little more than her mouth.
