Ghost Rider 2 Will Provide New Origin Sequence

noreply@blogger.com (Anonymous) — Sun, 9 Jan 2011 04:00:00 -0800

Everyone knows that Ghost Rider was at the very least a flashy trainwreck,
and that includes the sequel’s directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor.
But being two of the most innovative directors in the business, they’ve found
a way to fix the mess by simply creating an entire new origin story for the flaming
headed vigilante.

Ghost Rider himself Nicolas Cage spoke with UKPA (via ComingSoon) during a press junket for his next box office smash Season of the Witch and had a few interesting things to say about the upcoming GR: Spirit of Vengeance. After mentioning the new origin sequence, he goes on to point out the “wild” ways in which the directors shoot their movies.

The director's on rollerblades and hanging from wires with the camera, holding on to the motorcycle...

Maybe Cage hasn’t seen these guys work before, but they do most of their own camera work and they’re well known for their off-the-wall techniques, as evidenced by the Crank films and Gamer. There’s some great special features on the Gamer
disk that show these two at work and it’s just as entertaining as the film itself.

While the dynamic directing duo haven’t made anything to date that is amazing or groundbreaking, they’ve never made anything that wasn’t a pant load of fun. Expect to at least be entertained by Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance when it comes out next February.

New Season Of The Witch Clip Cage and Perlman: knights in prison

noreply@blogger.com (Anonymous) — Sun, 9 Jan 2011 03:55:00 -0800

Season of the Witch is out today, and if you want a taste of what this new Nicolas Cage film has to offer, we have good news! Here's a clip from the film to demonstrate what it's all about, starring Cage's Behman of Blighbrook, Ron Perlman as his BFF Felson and Claire Foy as suspected witch The Girl (they didn't spend a lot of time on names in medieval times).
The story sese Behman and Felson desert from the Crusading army after becoming sickened by the slaughter of innocents, and return to a Black Death-plagued Europe. There, they are imprisoned for going AWOL (at which point this scene takes place) and then tasked with transporting The Girl to a monastery to stand trial for witchcraft.

The film also stars the dependable Stephen Campbell-Moore, the legendary Christopher Lee, Ulrich Thomsen and Stephen Graham, and it's all directed by Gone In Sixty Seconds' Dominic Sena. It's out now people; if you want a medieval supernatural romp, it's your best option this weekend.

No one killed Jessica Overview

noreply@blogger.com (Anonymous) — Sun, 9 Jan 2011 03:30:00 -0800

One of the biggest challenges in filming a real life story is that it has already been told. So how do you make it exciting, unpredictable or entertaining? Also can you really do any of these things without altering the original story? And yet, "No One Killed Jessica" (NOKJ) manages all this, for the large part, swimmingly.
Based on the controversial Jessica Lall murder case, the first half of the film follows Jessica's sister, Sabrina (Vidya Balan) as she seeks rightful justice to convict the accused responsible for her sister's death. How everything comes together (or doesn't) to conspire against her is believable and presented in a subtle yet impactful manner. Sabrina is obviously confronted with a generous dose of Delhi's red tape and corruption, laced with the heavy-metal background song, "Dilli Dilli" and she resigns to her fate. Of course the song, "It happens only in India" will play in your head on several occasions through the film.
Sabrina's journey is running parallel with another one. Introducing high-flying, motor mouth, TV reporter Meera Gaity (Rani Mukherjee), who will stop at nothing to bag the top story on the network. From being teary-eyed while covering the Kargil war to outwitting her boss with tacky one-liners, she does it all. Have we mistakenly walked into No One Killed Barkha? Not. The media played a crucial role in reviving the Jessica case after the accused had been let off (remember?). At this point, it's not really astrophysics to predict where and how these stories would converge. So how the film manages to keep you glued to your seat is surely an outstanding feat.
NOKJ takes you through a range of emotions that you don't expect to experience in a movie like this. So, scattered across the film, are tiny details that would lighten a rather tense scene, while retaining its sincerity and importance. So an establishing shot of a court scene has a pickpocket having his way through a crowd of TV journalists gathered to report on the Jessica case. Inconsequential to the story yet brings a smirk on your face. Another would be when Sabrina breaks into a chuckle as the public prosecutor's witness interrogation becomes border-line humorous. The scene was very grim but when Sabrina can't contain her laughter, the rest join in too.
Vidya is flawless in portraying determination as well as faltered confidence. An admirable practicality that she brings to the character at a point when you'd expect her to breakdown makes the film less weary and fresh. Rani's return to films after her last stint in 2009 can be defined as trying, loud and overconfident (unless she's playing Barkha, in which case she's bang on). The same adjectives also describe her slow-mo strutting across the screen, each time she thinks she has nailed something. The film's supporting cast is just about right. But it is the dialogues, screenplay and script that win it for the movie. Amit Trivedi manages a soundtrack that complements the filth and grime that our capital city embodies.
Many of us would've been indifferent to the Jessica case. Either because it did not affect us or because when the accused was let off despite a pile of circumstantial evidence against him, we were hardly surprised. This happens all the time in our country. But this film explores how justice can be pursued even when denied at the first go. Will this manage to fuel the Aarushi case or other pending failures of our legal system? We can only hope it does.

Manasara movie review

noreply@blogger.com (Anonymous) — Sat, 11 Dec 2010 07:33:00 -0800

Maverick film maker Ravi Babu has always made movies with a difference. The subjects, genres and story lines he choses to film stand out from the rest of the crowd and 'Manasara' too is no exception. The trailers of the movie which generated curiosity among movie goers is in comensurate with the narration and the performances. This simple love and action thriller clubbed with fresh locations and new faces makes for an interesting watch.

~~Story:-~~

'Manasara' is a simple love story between Vikram(Vikram) and Anjali(Sri Divya) in Rajapalayam in Kerala. Vikram a timid hearted soft guy,is the son of a bank employee(Krishnamohan) who gets posted in Kerala and that is how Vikram gets to meet Anjali. But Rajapalayam is an orthodox society with people living by their ancient traditions and customs. Life in this place is governed by martial art Kalari Payattu.

The trouble in the smooth love story of Vikram and Anjali comes in the form of her brother-in-law Rajan Pillai(George) who is adept at the art of 'Kalari'.The rest of the story is on whether Vikram wins Anjali keeping his timidity aside.

~~Performances:-~~

George and Bhanuchandar delivered applaudable performances. Vikram, the hero of the movie has done a decent job considering he has not done many films before. Sri Divya was tailor made for her charecter. George has a promising career for negative shade roles , thanks to his body language and apt expressions that concur with it.M S Narayana though a brief role did a favour to himself by taking up this role, something different from his cliched drunkard ones in zillion movies.

~~Remarks:-~~

Ravibabu made a noteworthy attempt and thorough research of Kerala and its traditions. The locations, casting and narration were all in place. The background score goes well with the orthodox social set up of Kerala. The plot is predictable and the only thing that makes the movie stand out is the narration and screenplay. It is a visual treat for all those who love greenery and Kerala's exotic locales.

~~Verdict:-~~

'Manasara' is a bearable movie and a appreciative attempt. Watch it for a differnt narration and a Kerala experience.
