Contact Making Event "EVS Power" in Rezekne, Latvia. / Evento de toma de contacto "El poder del SVE"en Rezekne, Letonia.

¡Hola de nuevo!

¿Sabéis que? ¡¡Hemos vuelto a visitar nuestra querida Letonia!! Después de dos años y seis meses desde que acabamos nuestro SVE. Fue una gran noticia el conocer que la Asociación Europea "World-Our Home" estaba organizando un proyecto cofinanciado por el programa Erasmus+ de la UE.

Dentro de la Acción clave 1 de dicho programa, movilidad de las personas por motivos de aprendizaje, tenemos los Eventos de "toma de contacto".

Pues bien, el día 4 de Marzo aterrizamos en tierras Letonas para participar en el Contact Making Event (CME) "EVS Power". Si, las dos fuimos participantes...de nuevo juntas jeje.
En total 35 participantes de 11 países diferentes (incluido Letonia).

Hello people!!

Do you know what?? We went back to visit our dear Latvia!! After two years and six months since we finished our EVS. It was a wonderful new to know about that the European Association "World-Our Home" was organizing a proyect co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.

Within key Action 1 of this program, learning mobility of individuals, we can find the Contact Making Events.

So, we landed in Latvian lands to participate in the CME "EVS Power". And yes, we were participating both of us...again together hehe. Totally 35 participants from 11 countries (included Latvia).

El objetivo de este CME "EVS Power" era incrementar la cooperación entre organizaciones de países dentro de este programa de la Acción clave 1, para fomentar un trabajo más activo y exitoso en proyectos del Servicio Voluntario Europeo.

Siempre comenzamos los proyectos con actividades para empezar a conocernos entre los participantes, por lo que el primer día del proyecto tuvimos "juegos para romper el hielo" y juegos para aprendernos los nombres. Después, tocó conocer el programa de actividades para los siguientes días, así como las normas de convivencia, expectativas y miedos que esperábamos sobre este proyecto.

The aim of the CME "EVS Power" was to enhance the cooperation between organizations from programme countries within key Action 1, for more active and successful work in EVS programme.
The program started with the typical ice-breaking games and name games. Then, it was time to know more deeply the activities for the next days, house rules, expectations and fears about the project.

El proyecto fue dirigido por Natasha y Dace, de World at Our Home, y por un formador de la Agencia Nacional Letona, Aleksandrs Milovs, fue muy profesional en cuanto a toda la información que nos proporcionó como con la dinámica de actividades.
Se abordaron temas relacionados con el SVE, inclusión social, estrategia SVE, presentación de las organizaciones presentes y proyectos que desarrollan, así como el desarrollo de futuros proyectos y cómo hacerlos una realidad. No pudimos abordar el tema relacionado con el SVE y la empleabilidad, no obstante si obtenemos información relacionada al respecto la compartiremos con vosotros/as :))

The project was run by Natasha and Dace, from World at our home,,and the trainer from the Latvian National Agency, Aleksandrs Milovs, was very professional in all the useful information he provided to us as the dynamic of the activities.
The program addressed issues related with EVS, social inclusion, strategic EVS, organisations presentation and projects they are working on, also how to develop future projects and how to make them a reality. We couldn't broach the topic EVS and employability, if we have information about it, we will share it with you :))

En general, el proyecto resultó muy interesante y enriquecedor. Había algunos participantes con más experiencia en el ámbito de trabajo juvenil, pero cada uno supimos aportar algo positivo a través de nuestras experiencias de voluntariado, coordinación, redacción de proyectos. También fue muy interesante el poder visitar varias organizaciones, en Rezekne, que acogen voluntarios y poder conocer mas de cerca el trabajo que realizan.

In general, the project was really interesting and enriching. There was some participants with more experience than others within the field of youth work, but each participant contributed with something positive regarding our experience in volunteering, coordinating, writing projects. Also, it was very nice to be able to visit another organizations in Rezekne which are hosting volunteers and to know about the great job they are doing.
Thanks to Rēzeknes 2. vidusskola, "Pensionary and daycare centre", World at Our Home and „Zeimuļs” for welcoming us!!

Letonia sigue impresionándonos por esa capacidad de aprovechar sus recursos naturales, de indudable calidad, y al mismo tiempo por la sencillez que les caracteriza. Es uno de los pocos países del mundo donde persisten los ecosistemas naturales y la naturaleza y la tradición siguen viviendo en armonía. En Letonia hay unos veranos muy cortos; por eso, las plantas concentran toda su energía en el corto tiempo de floración, acumulando una concentración única de sustancias activas.

Mádara, desarrollada en un laboratorio propio ubicado en Riga, cuenta con productos cosméticos certificados en los cuales el 95% de los ingredientes son naturales, de origen vegetal, sin perfumes, ni colorantes, ni conservantes sintéticos.

Uno de sus sellos particulares es el uso del agua de abedul como base de sus fórmulas. Este líquido se ha bebido tradicionalmente en Letonia como un pequeño ritual de desintoxicación y recientemente se ha descubierto que tiene poderosos efectos anti-edad en la piel.

Latvia continues to impress us by its capacity to take advantage of its natural resources, of undoubted quality, and at the same time, by the simplicity that characterizes them. It is one of the few countries in the world where natural ecosystems persist and nature and tradition continue to live in harmony. In Latvia there are very short summers; Therefore, plants concentrate all their energy in the short flowering time, accumulating a single concentration of active substances.

Mádara, developed in an own laboratory located in Riga, has certified cosmetic products in which 95% of the ingredients are natural, of vegetable origin, without perfumes, colorants, or synthetic preservatives.

Raise awareness about EVS projects through a photo exhibition! | Concienciar sobre los proyectos del SVE a través de una exposición fotográfica

¡¡ Estamos muy contentas de anunciaros la inminente exhibición fotográfica sobre el SVE !!

Después de acabar nuestros proyectos de SVE "Discover EVS" y "Youth partners" y volver a nuestro país, nos reunimos con nuestra organización de envío, les propusimos hacer una exposición fotográfica en la que participaran tanto voluntarios SVE enviados por el Centro de Cultura Popular de Huesca como volunarios SVE acogidos en la organización en Huesca.
El principal objetivo: compartir nuestras experiencias y proyectos como voluntarios SVE para concienciar a los jóvenes de nuestra región de los beneficios de participar en un proyecto de Servicio Voluntario Europeo y así animarles a contactar con la oficina de información jóven u organización de envío más cercana y ¡empezar a buscar su proyecto SVE!

Desde el primer momento Isabel y Alberto, del Centro de Cultura Popular, apoyaron la idea y empezamos a trabajar en ella. Gracias a Alberto por tomar la iniciativa de plantear un plan de acción y ayudarnos en el comienzo de la creación del proyecto. Definido el qué, por qué, cómo, quién, cuándo,... unos meses depués pusimos fecha a la primera reunión en la OMIJ.

En esta etapa de reuniones queremos dar las gracias a Leyre, trabajadora en la OMIJ, que nos ha ayudado en el proceso de darle forma a este proyecto de exposición fotográfica.

We are happy to tell you about our upcoming photo exhibition of European Voluntary Service!!!.
After finishing our EVS projects "Discover EVS" and "Youth partners", comming back to our country, we met with our sending organization and we suggested them to prepare a photo exhibition which the participation of EVS volunteers sended by Centro de Cultura Popular and EVS volunteers hosted by the organization from Huesca.
The main aim: to share our experiences and projects as EVS volunteers to raise awareness of youth from our region about the benefits of participated in a EVS project and encourage them to go to the youth inforamtion center or the nearby sending organization and start to search their projects!

From the first moment Isabel and Alberto, from Centro de Cultura Popular, supported the idea and we strated to work in the project. Thanks to Alberto to take the initiative to set out an action plan and helped us in the project creation. Defined goals, what, why, who, how, when,... few months later we set the date for the first meeting in the OMIJ.
In this period of meetings we want give thanks to Leyre, worker in the OMIJ, who help us in the process to give shape to this photo exhibition project.

Juntas con 100% espítiru SVE, voluntarias europeas que están actualmente en Huesca, Anca y Alexandra y ex-voluntarias europeas, Carmen, Pilar y Elena, hemos creado con mucha ilusión este proyecto.
¡Ha sido genial trabajar juntas y nos esta quedando una exposición muy chula!
La exposición se compondrá de 12 paneles y ahora mismo estamos trabajando en el diseño, para ello contamos con la ayuda de tutorias en el ArtLab.

Together with a 100% EVS spirit, current euroepan volunteers Huesca, Anca and Alexandra and ex european volunteers, Carmen, Pilar y Elena, we have created this project hopefully.
It has been awesome work together and we are doing a great job!
The photo exhibition will have 12 panels and right now we are working in the design, for the design we hace counted with help from ArtLab, a place for the youth art.

25 years of Independent Latvia // 25 años de una Letonia Independiente

The declaration of the restoration independence on May 4, 1990, was a turning point for Latvia. The long years of Soviet occupation came to an end on May 4, 1990 as the parliament of Latvia restored independence. This motion began a democratic transitional period until a full restoration of the constitution. The transition was finalized in 1993 with the parliament – Saeima – elections according to the constitutional order, where already the citizens of Latvia took part. We want to congratulate all the Latvians on this significative day for them!!!

La declaración de la restauración de la independencia, el 4 de mayo de 1990 fue un punto de inflexión para Letonia. Los largos años de ocupación Soviética llegaron a su fin el 4 de mayo de 1990 así como el Parlamento de Letonia restauró la independencia. Este movimiento inició un período de transición democrática hasta una restauración completa de la constitución. La transición finalizó en 1993 con el parlamento - Saeima - las elecciones de acuerdo con el orden constitucional, donde ya los ciudadanos de Letonia participaron. ¡Año nuevo...idioma nuevo! / New year... new language!

¿Os suenan estas frases?:

"Este año voy a aprender a tocar la guitarra."

"Este año voy a viajar a Noruega para ver la Aurora Boreal."

"Este año voy a empezar a hacer ejercicio."

"Este año voy a intentar sonreir más."

"Este año voy a...."

Y así infinitamente.... Son propósitos que nos hacemos al empezar un año nuevo, que por cierto, no hay que esperar a que empieze el año para llevar a cabo nuestros propósitos, lo bueno sería tener voluntad siempre para empezar algo nuevo cuando sea y no esperar a decir: "Este año voy a ...."

Comenzar a aprender un nuevo idioma siempre es bueno :)

Yo voy a retomar mis estudios de Ruso (porque yo quiero, no porque sea año nuevo...jejej), y mi hermana, Carmen, se ha animado a empezar con este idioma... Y también intentaremos refrescar el Letón ¡A ver que tal !

Aquí os dejo el enlace al blog de mi proyecto ex-SVE, en el cuál podéis encontrar un apartado de diccionario con palabrás y expresiones básicas en 7 idiomas. Inglés (por supuesto), Letón y Ruso (idiomas locales), Español, Eslovaco, Georgiano y Búlgaro (idiomas de los respectivos voluntarios en el proyecto SVE). Quizá os "enamoráis" de alguno de estos idomas y os animáis a aprenderlo :)

And so on, They are purposes we think to start a new year, which by the way, isn't necessary to wait to begin a new year to carry out our purposes. It would be great if we are able to start something new without waiting to say: "This year, I will..."

Starting to learn a new language is always good :)

I am going to continue with my Russian studies (because I want, not for being new year...heheh), and my sister, Carmen, is going to start to study Russian as well... Also, we will try to continue with Latvian language. We will see!

English (of course), Latvian and Russian (local languages), Spanish, Slovakian, Georgian and Bulgarian (languages spoken for the EVS volunteers). El escudo de armas de Letonia fue instituido como símbolo de un estado independiente después de la proclamación de la república letona independiente en 1918.
El escudo combina símbolos heráldicos tradicionales de la identidad nacional letona con los de distritos territoriales históricos, y fue diseñado por el artista Letón Rihards Zariņš.

El sol es un símbolo central en la cultura letona, particularmente en canciones, poesía, arte, y aquí simboliza el estado nacional letón. Los 17 rayos del sol naciente representaron los 17 distritos habitados por letones del imperio zarista.
Las tres estrellas sobre el escudo representan los tres distritos históricos (Vidzeme, Latgale y Kurzeme-Zemgale) que formaron una Letonia unida.

The Latvian national coat of arms was established as a symbol of independent statehood after the proclamation of an independent Latvian Republic in 1918. The coat of arms combines traditional heraldic symbols of Latvian national identity with those of historical territorial districts, and was designed by Latvian artist Rihards Zariņš.

The sun is a central symbol in Latvian culture, particularly in songs, poetry and art, and here symbolizes Latvian national statehood. The 17 rays of the rising sun represented the 17 Latvian-inhabited districts of the Czarist Empire.

El escudo de España es el símbolo heráldico que representa al Reino de España y fue adoptado por ley el 5 de Octubre de 1981.Esta compuesto por otros seis escudos yalgunos símbolos heráldicos.

The coat of arms of Spain symbolizes the country, the old kingdoms of Spain,and was approved by law on 5th October, in 1981. It is composed of six other arms and some additional heraldic symbols.

Spanish Royal Crown symbolized the national sovereignty.

Central part divided into quarters:

- A triple-towered castle, represents the Kingdom of Castile.

- A lion rampant purpure, crowned with gold, represents the Kingdom of León.

- The pallets of Aragon, represent the Crown of Aragon.

- The Chains, represent the Kingdom of Navarre.

A pomegranate, fruit representing the Kingdom of Granada.

Three fleurs de lis in the center, represents the arms branch of Anjou of the House of Bourbon, the current reigning dynasty in Spain.

Pillars of Hercules, incorporated by Charles I, flanking the coat of arms and supports a motto.

The motto: "Plus Ultra" means 'further beyond' in Latin.

Polvorón / Traditional Spanish Christmas sweet.

El polvorón es una torta, comúnmente pequeña, de harina, manteca y azúcar glass, que se deshace en polvo al comerla. También se le puede añadir vino blanco, anís, frutos secos y ralladura de limón o naranja. Es un dulce típico de Navidad en España.

El año pasado cociné unos polvorones para llevarlos a JACis, centro juvenil donde fuí voluntaria. Aquí algunas imágenes del proceso de elaboración y del resultado final.

A polvoron is a type of heavy, soft and very crumbly Spanish shortbread, usually small, made of flour, lard and powdered sugar. Also, you can add others ingredients like white wine, anise, nuts and grated rind of lemon or orange. It is a typical sweet of Christmas in Spain. Ñammm, ¡Rico, rico!

Last year, I cooked "polvorones" to bring them to JACis, youth center where I was a volunteer. Here some pictures about the preparation process and the result. Yummy, yummy!

Receta para 20-25 polvorones (Nevaditos)

400 gr harina

200 gr manteca de cerdo

100 ml vino blanco

Almendra picada

Azúcar glass

Elaboracion:

Primero, extender la harina en la bandeja de horno y tostar durante 7-10 minutos aproximadamente a 170 °C.

Cuando la harina este ligeramente tostada, tamizarla con un colador en un bol y luego anadir el vino y remover. (También se le puede añadir una pizca de sal y azúcar)

Anadir la manteca de cerdo, previamente derretida en una cazuela a fuego lento, a la mezcla de harina y vino blanco. Remover con una cuchara y añadir las almendras picadas. Si no queda una masa lista para amasar, añadir un poco más de harina hasta que no quede pegajosa.

En una mesa, extendemos un poco de harina y amasamos la masa hasta que los ingredientes estén bien integrados. Con un bote o con moldes circulares, hacer círculos y colocarlos en la bandeja de horno. Hornear a 175 ° C durante 25-30 minutos. Cuando los polvorones estén listos, dejarlos enfriar y añadir el azúcar glass por encima. Ten cuidado porque los polvorones son delicados y se pueden romper facilmente :)))

Recipe for 20-25 polvorones (Nevaditos)
400 gr flour
200 gr pork lard
100 ml white wine
Chopped almonds
Powdered sugar

Preparation:
Firstly, extending the flour on the baking sheet and toasting for about 7-10 minutes at 170 ° C.
When the flour is lightly toasted, sieving it with a sieve in a bowl and then adding the white wine and stiring. (Also, if you want, you can add a pinch of salt and sugar)

¡Hoy 5 de Diciembre de 2014 se celebra el Día Internacional de los Voluntarios! El año pasado lo celebramos en Letonia en JACis con jóvenes locales y voluntarios europeos!
Es un día para agradecer el trabajo que realizan todas esas personas que dedican su tiempo, conocimientos, vivencias, etc con otras personas que lo necesitan. ¡Porque cada día cuenta!

" Ser voluntario/a implica

aprender de los demás,

apreciar los pequeños momentos,

cambiar de actitud hacia la vida, compartir emociones...

en definitiva, crecer como persona."

Today, 5th of December 2014, is celebrated the International Volunteer Day!
Last year, we celebrated this day in Latvia in JACis with local youth and european volunteers!
It is a day to appreciate the work carried out all those people who dedicate their time, knowledge, experiences, etc with others who need it. Because every day counts!

18 November, Independence Day of Latvia / 18 de Noviembre, Día de la Independencia Letona

Today is a really important date on the Latvian calendar, the Independence of Latvia was proclaimed on 18 November 1918.

"Even though there were no borders set, a group of dedicated nationalists proclaimed an independent Latvian state on this date in 1918. Several months after this courageous step had been made, military interventions still went on — the Russian Empire did not want to lose this important territory. Nevertheless, this day is still the most important national holiday for every Latvian."

We feel Latvia in our heart. Even if we are so far away from Latvia, we are with Latvia on this important day of celebration!

Hoy es una fecha muy marcada en el calendario Letón, el 18 de Noviembre de 1918 Letonia proclamó su Independencia.

"A pesar de que no existían fronteras establecidas, un grupo de nacionalistas proclamó un estado independiente de Letonia en esta fecha en 1918. Varios meses después de que se hubiese dado este valiente paso, las intervenciones militares todavía continuaron- el Imperio ruso no quería perder este importante territorio. Sin embargo, el día de hoy sigue siendo la fiesta nacional más importante para todos los Letones".

Sentimos Letonia en nuestro corazón. Incluso aunque estemos tan lejos de Letonia, ¡Nosotras estamos con Letonia en este importante día de celebración!

Last days in Rezekne: 100% Latgalian (Part I)

We are talking about Mols!!!

Mols, mākslas salons – bārs, this is meanning pub and art saloon, is located in Latgales iela 22/24 (Latgale Street) in the heart of Latgale, Rēzekne!!!

“Mōls” is exclusive with the dishes being cooked according to the ancient Latgalian recipes.

The interior lets to feel the antiquity and cosiness: the fire-place, ceramic dishes, and paintings on the walls and a very friendly rabbit." (rezekne.lv)

In our last days in Rezekne, we spent a nice morning in Mols, as you can see!

In the entrance to Mols, you can see the flag of Latgale region, in the historical Latgale street with the characteristic red bricks buildings.

Inside Mols you can find a nice shop where you can buy many creations made by locals crafters. The stars of this beautiful crafts are the wool socks and the famous triangle winter gloves, they are masterpieces!

Rēzekne is an important location for those interested in Latvian pottery. Latgalia’s pottery masters are particularly known for using the techniques of their forebears to create brightly colored pottery in a range of shapes. Also, Latgale black ceramics are well known....

You can eat for 3 euros. You will get a tasty soup (with cabbage, potatoes, spices, meat, sourcream), a dish with salad, fried potatoes and chicken steak, black bread and a fruit juice. The food serve in black ceramic!!

Look!! the pot and cups for the tea are so cute!! They are made of traditional latgalian black ceramic.

Here I am so afortunate to touch a traditional latvian belt "tausta josta". The maniqui wear a traditional costume.

We are in front of the bar, wich is full of souvenirs that you can buy and interesting vintage things like a coffe machine, radio, lamp, bottles, etc.

And here, we are with Jekaterina Moisejeva, who took these wonderful photos! She was the Pilar's coordinator on the project "Youth Partners".

Intenational Youth Camp "Europe, all inclusive" in Shierke Baude, Germany

In a beautiful village in the mountains, Schierke (Germany), participants from Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Latvia, Lithuania and, of course, Germany, all together to participated in the Intenational Youth Camp in Shierker Baude, in the district of Harz, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It tooks place from 27 July till 10 August 2014. The topic of the camp was "Europe, all inclusive".

I am really happy to have been participant in the camp. We had working groups of Graffiti, Photography, Timeline, Music, Healthy lifestyle, Crafts, simulation of conference in the European Parlament, discussion with politicians about results, coffe with seniors, study trips, interesting and funny national evenigs,cliff walk and climbing, excursions Wernigerode, Magdeburg, Leipzig, Quedlinburg, Brocken Mountain.

Thank you to the super Latvian team: Sarmite, Anna, Nikolav, Alise, Elizabete, Marta Madara, Kristiana, Anas (volunteer fron Jordan) and our fantastics leaders Iveta and Ilze!!!

I will never forget our team singing the Daina (traditional Latvian song) "Bedu manu lielu bedu": Ram-tai ram-tai ra-di-ri-di-ri-di ram-tai ri-di ra-la-la

Youth summer camp "The world of languages" / Campamento de verano: "El mundo de los idiomas"

The summer is here and workshops in Zeimuls take holidays till new school year in September. Zeimuls open its doors in summer to host several summer camps for children and youth and celebrate some events. The timetable in summer in Zeimuls is from 8:00 a.m till 17:00 p.m.
With the support of Rezekne City Council in the summer of 2014 are going to take place 14 summer camps.
El verano ya esta aquí y los talleres en Zeimuls se cogen vacaciones hasta que empiece el nuevo curso en Septiembre. Zeimuls abre sus puertas en verano para celebrar algunos eventos y para acoger muchos campamentos de verano para niños y jóvenes. El horario de verano en Zeimuls es desde las 8:00h hasta las 17:00h.
Con el apoyo del Ayuntamiento de Rezekne este verano van a tener lugar 14 campamentos de verano.

My coordinator's project, Linda Vanaga, presented a summer camp that it was approved, but Linda couldn't be the leader, in this case Inta, she works in Zeimuls, was in charge of the camp with the help of Laura, a girl who participate actively in the center as volunteer.
I made the poster of the camp, as you can see the camp it is to learn English for youth!
Mi coordinadora de proyecto SVE, Linda Vanaga, presentó un proyecto y fué aprovado, pero Linda no pudo ser la líder del campamento, asi que en este caso fue Inta, trabajora en Zeimuls, quien estuvo a cargo del campamento con la ayuda de Laura, una chica quien participa activamente en actividades en Zeimuls, donde también trabaja su madre.
Realicé el poster para el campamente, como podéis ver es un campamento para ¡aprender inglés para los jóvenes!

On morning they had English lessons and after lunch they had differents activities: photography, chess, cultural evening and beading and decoupage workshops, where I participated organizing them together with Pilar.

In the cultural evening, our students were lucky to have travel journeys to Spain, Bulgaria, Georgia and Slovakia, thanks to the visit to Zeimuls of our european volunters living in Rezekne.
Por las mañanas tuvieron clases de inglés y después de comer tenían diferentes actividades creativas como fotografía, ajedrez, tardes culturales y taller de abalorios y decoupage, en los que participé organizándolos junto con Pilar, voluntaria en JAcis.
En las tardes culturales, nuestros estudiantes tuvieron la suerte de viajar a España, Bulgaria, Georgia y Eslovaquia, gracias a la visita a Zeimuls de los voluntarios europeos que estan viviendo en Rezekne.

It was a great experience to be able to know how is organized a summer camp, during two weeks our youth participants were glad with the experience.
Fue una gran experiencia poder conocer cómo se organiza un campamento juvenil, durante dos semanas nuestros jóvenes participantes estuvieron encantados con la experiencia.

Festivals "Muzykys Skrytuļs"

Cada año se celebra el Festivals "Muzykys Skrytuļs", en Liksna, en la región de Latgale, y como en esta región tienen un dialecto, Latgalian, el programa del festival está escrito en Latgalian.

Every year it is celebrated the Festivals "Muzykys Skrytuļs" in Liksna, in the Latgale region, and in this region they have a dialect, Latgalian, and the program of the festival is written in Latgalian.

¡Durante 3 días muchas actividades y conciertos y todo gratis! El primer día del festival era un etno festival, donde participaba el Grupo de baile y banda de música popular "Dziga" de la casa de la cultura de Rezekne y algunos SVE fuimos en el autobus con el grupo al festival.

Al llegar ya se podía notar un ambiente 100% Latgale, con sus puestos con sopa tradicional, pan negro, cerveza casera,...y en los alrededores se podia disfrutar de un paseo y poder ver varias originales esculturas o lugares para relajarse o para divertirse diseñadas por diferentes artistas.

During 3 days there were a lot of activities and concerts and all for free! The first day of the Festival there were an Etno concert, where took part The dance group and folk band "Dziga" of Rezekne Culture House and some of EVS went by bus with them to the festival.
When we arrived, there were a nice 100% latgalian atmosphere, with stand of soup, black bread, homemade beer,...and around the place it was possible to enjoy for a walk of the original scultures or places for relaxing or enjoying.

Había una gran hoguera y la auténtica cerveza de Latgale. Cerveza en Letón es Alus y en Latgalo se dice Ols.

There were a big bonfire and the real latgale beer. Beer in Latvian is "Alus" and in Latgalian is "Ols".

En el concierto, un fantástico e interesante programa con grupos que interpretaron canciones combinadas con bailes. Aquí os dejamos unas fotos y algún vídeo del concierto

Al acabar, una banda popular de Lituania, interpretaron canciones populares y todo el mundo a bailar en grupo, en parejas, y enseñando los pasos en algunos bailes para bailarlos en grupo

When finished, a popular band from Lithuania, sang popular songs and everyone danced in groups, in pairs, and teaching dance steps to dance them in some group

Letonas y españolas / Latvians and Spanish

He tenido la suerte de conocer a una chicas muy simpáticas en Rezekne, ellas son Letonas y ¡hablan español!
Les pedí que me contestaran a unos preguntas para conocer más su opinión sobre la cultura española y letona.
Esto es exactamente lo que me contestaron en español:

1.¿Cómo y cuándo empezaste a aprender español?

2.¿Qué diferencias encuentras entre la cultura española y la letona?

3.¿Qué ciudad o región de España te gustaría visitar?

4. Tu palabra y comida favorita en Español :)

En mi caso en Letonia:
1. Empecé a estudiar Letón hace 11 meses gracias a mi proyecto de voluntariado europeo.

2. Cuesta más conocer a gente y hacer amigos porque los letones son más reservados, pero una vez que les conoces tienen un carácter divertido. Son más caseros y les gusta hacer vida en familia y con amigos en la casa del campo. Sobre las tradiciones en letonia me fascina la riqueza de bailes y canciones populares. Me encantó descubrir que los niños y niñas desde muy pequeños reciben clases de baile y canto en la escuela, muchos jóvenes forman parte de grupos de folklore. Es difícil encontrar a un letón y letona que no sepan bailar danzas populares.

3. Me gustaría visitar Cesis y Sigulda.

4. Mi palabra favorita es Brīnišķīgi (maravilloso).
Me encantan todos los pasteles y he descubierto que me gusta la sopa de remolacha.

Sandra Talapina

1. Empece a estudiar español hace 7-8 años por mi misma y con ayuda de los libros y la página web busuu.com;

2. Pienso que la cultura espanola esta influenciada por la clima caliente. Las expresadas emociones son mas profundas y verdaderas. Creo que grande acento esta puesto al amor y otras relacciones entre la gente. La expresion es muy apasionada. La cultura letona es mas calma y la gente es mas pasiva.

3. Me gustaria visitar las ciudades y los regiones mas autenticos de Espana, aquellos lugares que aun son viejos y llenos de cosas historicas,no modernas. Tambien me gustaria volver a Barcelona para terminar mi visito al objetos turisticos que no he visto en mi primer viaje;

4. Tengo muchas palabras que me gustan: la sonrisa, el amor, la estrella, los cristales...Y mi comida mas favorita hasta este momento esta jamón Iberico...:)

Ilze Šķestere

1. Empece a estudiar espanol hace 6 años, en una escuela de idiomas en Riga, porque a mi me gusta muchisimo espanol y queria saber mas sobre Espana y su cultura.

2. Las diferencias entre la cultura espanola y la letona, que he notado yo, son ; la gente en Espana es mas habladora, mas abierta que en Letonia, las fiestas siempre estan con los espanoles, tambien en el dia, los espanoles hacen muchas cosas en la calle, salen mucho, tambien la gente mayor, pero en Letonia no es asi, igual porque el tiempo hace mucho mas frio.

3. Me gusta toda Espana, y todos los sitios por alli, me encanta Valencia, donde vivia 5 meses. Me gustaria visitar Galicia, por que nunca estuve alli.

4. No tengo una palabra favorita, por que me gusta todas las palabras que hay en espanol!
Mi comida favorita son churros.

Trajes tradicionales Letones/ Traditional Latvian costumes

Letonia tiene mucha tradición de baile y música, nosotras nos hemos contagiado de todas estas tradiciones y nos emociona escuchar sus canciones y ver sus bailes tradicionales.

Hoy nos vamos a centrar en los trajes tradicionales y especialmente del norte de la región en la que estamos viviendo, Latgale. Podemos decir que hemos sentido el espíritu Letón, ya que hemos sido afortunadas de podernos haber puesto uno de estos trajes.

En este mapa de Letonia podéis ver las cuatro regiones y los trajes tradicionales de cada una de ellas. En el libro Latvian folk dress, podéis ver más detalles :))

Como podéis ver, en el norte de Latgale destaca un precioso traje blanco, que es el que tuvimos la oportunidad de probarnos. ¡Una bonita experiencia!!

As you can see, in the North of Latgale there is a beautiful white costume, which is the one we had the opportunity to test. A nice experience!!

Y aquí podéis ver el vídeo que nuestro amigo Aleksandrs Tolopilo grabó y editó para la ocasión. Es todo un fotógrafo profesional y trabaja en la Oficina de Turismo de Rezekne, no nos podemos quejar...Aprovechamos para invitaros a visitar el facebook de Rezekne TAC y si queréis dejar un "Me gusta" en el vídeo, mejor que mejor jeje.

Estamos felices porque el vídeo se publicó en facebook en la página de Rezekne TAC ymucha gente lo vió, lo compartió, lo comentó y difundió la voz, nos dijeron que en las estadísticas del vídeo en facebook había miles de visitas. Un mes más tarde se subió el vídeo en youtube y claro las visitas no se quedaron registradas.

We are happy because the video was post in facebook in Rezekne TAC and many people saw it, share it and spread the voice, they told us that in facebook statistics the views were thousands. One month later, the video was post in youtube, but of course all the view statistics aren't register.

Nota: hay que añadir que grabamos el vídeo en una sola toma... todo hay que decirlo, y salió como lo veis, hablando un inglés no tan natural y fluido, es que podíamos llevar preparado el discurso, pero en el momento en el que te ves emocionada con el traje puesto y tienes delante la cámara y una sombrilla fotográfica, ¡las palabras no salen tan bien! pero el vídeo queda precioso :D.

Note: we want to add that we recorded the video one time...and as you can hear our English isn't so fluenly and natural, we prepared a speech, but in the moment that you are dress with the traditional costume and you have a camera and a photographic umbrella, words are missing! but the video is so beautiful :)
