My Squidoo article Piers Morgan TV presenter asks readers if they would consider wearing a Piers Morgan mask following his controversial comments about gun control in the USA.

Thousands of disgruntled Americans have called for his deportation. However this raises a problem with the right to free speech.

I guess the interconnected world we live in means that news and views permeate national boundaries and sensibilities much easier than in the past.

I see no reason why he should be deported for asking provocative questions on a tricky subject. If the defense of the second amendment is robust then no amount of argument from any source stands a chance of undermining its relevance.

For me the question is one of degree. The right to bears arms might be precious. Perhaps more specific focus on the right to bear what type of arms might warrant some re-visiting? For example and 'in absurdum' does this endorse the right own tactical nuclear weapons? Is the real issue bearing arms for arms sake rather than a because of the philosophical point of the second amendment which was about defending freedom and democracy.

In which case the right to bear arms foregrounds a desire for the mere ownership of weaponry for weapons sake rather than protection, and this urge for possession has addictive qualities which is rather disturbing.

It might be worth stopping at this point and pondering the words of Native American Elder Philip Deere who said 'majority can be wrong'

My latest Squidoo Lens is inspired by a wildflower school project that I was given way back in the 1960s. I decided I would do the same project today using photographs of wildflowers taken with my iPhone.

The original wildflower project was to collect, press and classify 80 wildflowers. The flower here is a Bee Orchid. I have also created some wildflower gifts, like notecards, and postcards with some of the wildflower photographs I have taken.

My Squidoo Lens 5 Must Read Children's Books Is all about 5 books that have had impact on my life since reading them. Three of them written decades ago. My favourite has to be The Weirdstone Of Brisingamen by Alan Garner. The moment I had this story read to me at school it captured my imagination with its tales of ancient magic and knights that come to life in a modern world.

The book Swallows and Amazons tells the tale of my childhood. Adventures over the Summer holdidays. I was so envious of the boats the children in the story had. So if you are looking for books to fire a child's imagination I strongly recommend the titles on my Squidoo lens.
