Thousands and thousands of sit-ups, crunches, leg raises, etc. The problem with this is if your body fat percentage is more than say 15% your abdominal muscles will be hidden underneath that belly.</p>
<p>So what I am saying is you need to lay off the ab exercises becuase if you keep just soley working your abs then what your find is that your belly will increase in size because the muscle underneath will be pushing it out. So with the aim of decreasing your tummy your actually doing the complete opposite.</p>
<p>Read on for my killer tips to get them abs!</p>
<p>The first step is to get your body fat percentage below 15% and to about 6-10% for serious definition. The way to do this is to do real cardio workouts. The reason I say real cardio workouts is because most peoples cardio invlolves doing 30-40 mins on each machine of steady pace cardio. Steady pace cardio isn&#8217;t as effective as &#8217;stop &amp; go&#8217; movements. The difference is with stop &amp; go movements you will do quick bursts of high intense running or cycling followed by a rest peroid. Now the rest peroid is key as it means your body will get charged for the next burst and you will respond more positively to this.</p>
<p>Example Exercise :</p>
<p>Warm-up - 3-4 minutes of fast walking<br />
Interval 1 &#8211; 1 minute of jogging<br />
Interval 2 &#8211; 1.5 minute of slow walking<br />
Interval 3 &#8211; 1 minute of fast running<br />
Interval 4 &#8211; 1.5 minute of fast walking</p>
<p>Repeat this for 20-30 minutes for a very intensive cardio workout! Remember to change this to your ability as this is just an example, and can use this example on all the other cardio machines.</p>
<p>Whilst doing these cardio workouts you want to incorporate musclebuilding workouts. Now if your doing 1-2 hours of training use 15minutes of that time doing ab exercises, if that. The exercises you want to focus on are squats, deadlifts, chin ups, pull ups, press ups and exercises like the side plank and the plank. As these exercises use more than just one muscle group they will not only build muscle but will burn the fat off at the same time.</p>
<p>Try these tips out, put them into good use and you will start to see results. Remember the importance of nutrition as this will really stop any results from working.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I&#8217;ve got some further tips here on strength training and muscle building to do out of the gym.<br />As you may know im a believer of getting out of the gym every now and then and having a good workout out of the boring gym enviroment!This can really kick start your motovation and enthusiasm again for your workouts.</p>
<p>So heres 2 more training ideas ;-</p>
<p><strong>Body Weight Workouts -</strong></p>
<p>These are great ways to workout. There really build on your core strength. Body weight workouts can also be done anywhere as all you need with you is your body (your not exactly going to forget that!)</p>
<p>To get a really intense workout try exercising continuously for 30-45 minutes without too much rest or none at all. Try doing one or two workouts a week of just body weight workouts and your feel the difference.</p>
<p>So you want to focus on squats, push-ups variations, lunges, floor abs exercises, tricep dips etc. If your a little more advanced you could also try handstand push-ups, one arm pushups, one legged squats which will really challenge you!</p>
<p><strong>Ring Training -</strong></p>
<p>This type of training incorporates the use of portable gymnastic rings that you can take anywhere. You basically throw the straps over any high bar like a pull-up bar, the top of a power rack, or football goal crossbars are great.</p>
<p>Once you have adjusted the rings you can start doing exercises like ring dips, ring pushups, ring pull-ups, hanging leg raises, horizontal body rows, L-sits and more.</p>
<p>Doing dips and push-ups on the rings will really make them a lot more difficult, whilst also working your stabilizer muscles to a much greater degree. Using the rings allow your joints to move in a more natural pattern and will help prevent shoulder injury.</p>
<p>Try these 2 techniques out and see the difference they can make to your usuall routine. They should encourage your muscle building efforts in a very positive way.</p>

<p>Slow-twitch fibers are those that are used mainly for endurance types of sports and exercise like distance running. You&#8217;ve never seen a distance runner that looks really muscular, have you? You won&#8217;t. It&#8217;s not that they aren&#8217;t strong, they are. It&#8217;s just that the muscles that they have developed are those used for endurance rather than strength.</p>
<p>Type IIa fast-twitch fibers are capable of more force than slow-twitch fibers, but they tire more quickly. Type IIb fast-twitch fibers are capable of even greater force than Type IIa fibers, but they tire even more quickly. The fast-twitch fibers are basically for exerting force, and the slow-twitch fibers are for exerting force over a period of time.</p>
<p>While all muscle fiber is important and needs to be developed to some degree if you want to build visible muscle mass, you need to concentrate your efforts on building fast-twitch fibers — both Type IIa and Type IIb. </p>
<p>The speed and ease at which you will develop fast-twitch fiber muscle is determined a great deal by your genetic makeup. Your ratio of slow-twitch fiber to fast-twitch fiber is pretty much determined at birth, so there&#8217;s nothing you can do about that. But even if you have a higher percentage of slow-twitch fiber, that doesn&#8217;t mean that you can&#8217;t develop muscles. It just means that you are going to have to work harder at it and that it&#8217;s going to take longer.</p>
<p>Muscle develops when stress is put on a muscle and small tears occur. When the body repairs the damage, it actually builds more muscle to repair the damage, and muscles get bigger.</p>
