Laundry Room Reveal Before & After

It's been in the making and now finally finished

The new and improved laundry room. Now, I must say, the room is so tiny and when I open the door it actually just misses the washer so it's not deep and it's about 94 inches wide. Just enough for a little space on either side of the washer and dryer.

I had some wood cut at Lowe's and I stained it to sit across the washer and dryer as a solid surface. There are those yucky white shelves behind the yellow chevron curtain. I didn't want to take them down so I covered them up.

One of the reasons I wanted to have a cute room was because as you look up my stairs this room is at the top, and as you walk up the stairs you look right in the laundry room. So, a cute washer and dryer were a must and a much needed cute room too.

I love home made laundry detergent - here is the recipe. It's in the clothes pin jar!! The small jar to the left has lost in the laundry items, and things that have taken a "spin."

This is a fun pendant I bought at Lowe's to hang rather then the builders light!

Thrifty Stashy SNAP! Swap Project

In March I signed up to be a part of the Thrifty Stashy SNAP! Swap. Everyone who signed up was matched with a swap partner to send a package of goodies and then they were to make something from what they received. I was matched with Katie who blogs at Sew Woodsy with her husband, and together, they blog about their projects and tutorials. But let me tell you, Katie also has a fabulous cooking blog called Katies Cucina. She has some really great recipes and giveaways too!!

Here is what I was most excited about. I have picked it up a few times at the craft stores but never purchased it. So I decided to use the square pendants and the Dimensional Magic Mod Podge.

I used a printable from Lil' Blue Boo. This is blown up but in real life it looks just like a chalkboard image.

I cut and placed the images in the squares and added the dimensional magic

This is such a fun post for me to do. Tauni who works with American Crafts sent the amazing collection of scrapbooking and paper crafting supplies for me to review. The line is called 5th & Frolic. It will be available at JoAnn's so check your area. The date for stores was March 17th!! I decided since Easter is right around the corner I would make something with an Easter theme. The fun boxes below resemble hamburger boxes and are cut out of the Dear Lizzy cardstock with my Silhouette machine, aren't they cute!!!

The colors are so fun and the patterns are great, and all the paper that is printed is reversible so you get double the options. Below in the photo you can see markers, ribbon tape, and a small photo book/journal with the cutest pages inside, silicone stamps, fabric covered button brads, fabric bows and so much more.

Holiday Winter Woodland Wreath

With a little help from Target and some pine cones from the backyard, I created a fun winter wreath for my front door. I used a simple straw wreath form and hot glued the pine cones all over and then lightly spray painted it white. The woodland accents were from Target, those are hot glued on also. I think it turned out cute and it can hang all winter on the door.

The holidays bring pies to the table for dessert. We had Pumpkin and apple pies for Thanksgiving and I'm sure the same will be served again as they are a favorite of the family! My husbands favorite is Pumpkin so that's what we baked first.

We loved the Pumpkin Pie, again my husbands favorite. The photo above is it coming right out of the oven so it was still warm in the photo. The Apple pie was really yummy too and the caramel topping added the perfect touch. The Butter Fudge sauce made the Cherry Pie absolutely delicious, chocolate cherries!! Mrs. Smiths is the way to go with pies for sure, with the added toppings it gives them an extra special touch.

There are so many great projects. I reciently saved an Avocado pit and it has now rooted and now has a green sprout. I'm going to be planing it this weekend in a pot. Cheerleading, what can I say, it's a sport but not always recognized as such. I will say the practices are gruling very long after a full day of school and then to run through he routine over and over again to get it right - yikes. I don't know if I could even endure it. Combine that with 20+ girls all having to be on queue, all together, it's a hard task at best.

This past weekend we had a Cheerleading competition after weeks of practice, sometimes two and three nights a week after school. The local High School gym was filled with spectators for the various squads in their team colors form T-shirts, to glittering wigs to noise makers and air horns.

All the hard work paid off and WE WON in our division and our coaches won for choreography. It was so exciting for the girls and they each received a trophie for their accomplishment. As with any team or squad it was back to the practice gym this week to get ready for competition number two in a couple weeks.

I wanted to share a fun recipe I found on Elsie & Emma's blog, A Beautiful Mess. It's super easy with just a few ingredients.

Peanut Butter & Pumpkin Dog Biscuits

I took the project one step further after baking and created these cute burger boxes with my silhouette machine and then wrapped 9 biscuits up in parchment paper with a little bit of twine. The cute wooden tags were ordered through Pick your Plum. My daughter Shea is sending these off to friends with pooches!

I purchased these mini canvas' from Alisa Burks studio sale. I have taken several, well, lots of Alisa's classes and I was so excited to be given the opportunity to purchase originals that she showed in one of her blog posts, Venturing outside my comfort zone.

Here is what I did with the photos which are now in my daughters new room, freshly made over into a sea/beachy retreat.

I used an IKEA Ribba frame and a piece of linen textured srapbook paper in an orange color and used glue dots to attach the mini canvas' to the paper. I wanted to keep them together and I love the rough edges and the unfinished parts. The 3x3 paintings are also a little wonky and not perfectly square but that's OK. I love the way it turned out.
