target="_blank">Weyerbacher Brewer’s Select Series beer, Aries….Coming in Oct:

Aries is the 3rd installment in the latest round of Brewers’ Select Series beers! Aries breaks the mold of preceding Brewers’ Select beers in that it is NOT a new beer—rather, it is a blend of two existing beers which have been being mixed by Weyerbacher employees for a few years now. In perfect timing for October / Halloween, Aries is a delicious blend of Old Heathen Imperial Stout and Imperial Pumpkin Ale!

Known around the brewery as a “Black & Orange”, this mix is generally credited to Weyerbacher’s NJ Sales Rep Natalie DeChico (the former Philly Beer Geek and creator of Althea). By mixing these two brews, the otherwise pretty dominant cinnamon and nutmeg spices of Imperial Pumpkin Ale are subdued by Old Heathen while highlighting the malt backbone of both beers. The result is a really balanced yet spicy dark beer which will work very well as a dessert beer and still pair nicely with your favorite fall foods.

Since both Old Heathen and Imperial Pumpkin Ale are each 8% ABV, Aries is also a very manageable 8% [really complicated math here].

When Aries was originally conceived, the plan was to mix Heresy—our Bourbon barrel-aged Old Heathen—with Imperial Pumpkin Ale. On the day the decision had to be made, however, it was found that the brand new batch of Old Heathen actually tasted better in the mix so we switched things up a bit. The result speaks for itself!
.

mybeerbuzz.com Weyerbacher Feed

Weyerbacher Viridis Lupulus Coming 6/28 Imperial Pumpkin 7/13

We brought you the news of Weyerbacher Viridis Lupulus back in May, and now this update from Weyerbacher as it prepares to release it 6/28--and an update on the release of 2013 Imperial Pumpkin. This from Weyerbacher:

Viridis Lupulus is our new seasonal hoppy beer, bottle conditioned and featuring a different set of hops each year. This beer will be available exclusively in a 750ml bottle. The name Viridis Lupulus is meant to be a mildly goofy title meaning "spring hop" beer.

Tasting notes from Head Brewer Chris Wilson:

"Viridis Lupulus, 7.5% and 95 IBU, is a celebration of the renewal of spring. It is an unfiltered, golden-copper IPA with an aggressive hop profile. Massive amounts of Apollo, Calypso, Centennial and Galaxy hops fill this beer with dank citrus and tropical aromas. The bottle conditioning will propel the aromas out of your glass and produce a tight, fluffy head. This beer is a pure hop experience."

Be sure to look for Viridis Lupulus in the market as it will have limited distribution throughout our wholesaler network. Weyerbacher's Visitors Center will release Viridis Lupulus on Friday, June 28th at 4:30 pm!

Look for Imperial Pumpkin Ale to be released at the Visitors Center on July 13th and in the market around August 1st.

mybeerbuzz.com Weyerbacher Feed

Weyerbacher Eighteen Weizenbock Released Today

From Weyerbacher:

Eighteen years! What a ride! We started life as a tiny self-distributed production brewery with a focus on tasty English beers. In the beginning we were producing under 2,000 kegs in total output (1,000 barrels). We opened a pub in ‘98, moved to a bigger facility in ’01, acquired additional spaces between ’04 and ’09, built an addition in ’12 all the while obtaining better and more efficient equipment and hiring more and more staff! We’ve won some pretty serious awards, including but not limited to a Great American Beer Festival Gold Medal (in the Specialty Honey Beer Category, GABF Category: 11). If Weyerbacher was a person, we’d be eligible to join the military, buy smokes… but we still can’t drink or rent a car.

“Eighteen.” Yes, we are very creative with the names of our beers. Well, we were very creative. Our 10th anniversary (our first anniversary beer) was called Decadance. How badass did we think we were? Gold stars all around! Then, the next year, the wheels on the creativity bus fell off and we went straight to pun-free numbers.

At 11.1% ABV, Eighteen is a big Weizenbock; a “Weizendoppelbock” to be perfectly clear! The malt bill is entirely German: Wheat, Munich, Pils, Carawheat and Chocolate wheat. Eighteen’s nose is reminiscent of a big dark Belgian-style ale with a touch of smokiness. The color is a hazy deep brown. Eighteen features a complex combination of dark fruit and bready malts with chocolate flavors that are perfectly balanced with spicy phenols and banana esters. This unfiltered and bottle-conditioned ale has a creamy, textured mouthfeel and a warming finish. Eighteen is available in ⅙ barrel kegs and 12 oz bottles for a limited time only. This beer will age very nicely, yielding more dark fruits as time passes!
.

mybeerbuzz.com Weyerbacher Feed

Weyerbacher - Brewers Select - Aquila Farmhouse Ale Coming 5/31

We brought you a peek at this label weeks ago and even discussed it with our pal Chris Wilson in early May…now the official word from Weyerbacher on the 2nd release in their Brewer’s Select series with Constellation names:

Aquila is a light-bodied Belgian Farmhouse-style ale with heavy American aroma. The Voorhees Animal Orphanage in Voorhees, NJ received a check for $2,252.50! The Voorhees Animal Orphanage is a non-profit organization that has one goal in mind: the welfare of the animals. Since 1988, the Voorhees Animal Orphanage has been dedicated to providing shelter, food and medical care to stray and unwanted animals until permanent homes can be found. Each year the Animal Orphanage takes in nearly 1,500 abandoned, unwanted, stray and owner relinquished animals. In 2009, the Animal Orphanage rescued 275 adoptable animals from high kill shelters along the east coast.

Our New Jersey Representative Natalie DeChico and Hunterdon Distributor’s Representative Rob Forczek stopped by the Animal Orphange to present the $2,252.50 check, and some Last Chance IPA, to shelter Director Chrisine Todd and Outreach & Volunteer Coordinator Angela Cimino. Natalie picked this shelter after hearing numerous people mention what a great shelter is it and how they go above and beyond to help the animals. The icing on the cake was when she was at a Weyerbacher event in Berlin, NJ and met up with service dog Moose, his owner Dave, and vet Marvin that work with The Animal Orphanage and were all enjoying some Weyerbacher, except Moose. Check out the photos from the donation process below!

Each month Weyerbacher donates a portion of their wholesale receipts of Last Chance IPA. Doors will open to the public at 10 am and remain open throughout the normal Visitors Center hours until 3:30 pm. Rather than the usual Saturday samplings at the bar, all of our available styles of beer will be set up at different tasting stations located throughout the brewery. Tours will be cancelled for the day, however, full-time staff and tour guides will be positioned throughout the brewery to discuss any questions you may have about the equipment. During this special event, you will be able to see the new cellar, the whole bottling line and get up close to all of the equipment.

Of course, you’ll still be able to buy whatever quantity and selection of beers you’d like at our case packing area. We’ll have growlers and kegs available for sale and lots of new T-shirts and glassware!

Don’t miss this event!

Riserva 2012 is an American Wild Ale fermented on red raspberries. Riserva is fermented with a blend of Saccharomyces yeast, Brettanomyces yeast and lactic acid bacteria that produce funky, sour and fruity flavors and aromas. The beer is aged for more than a year in oak barrels with raspberries, giving the beer a pungent raspberry aroma, a lovely red color and a balancing wood character.

This brew is a beautiful beer, both to your eyes and to your taste buds. The microflora responsible for giving Riserva its character reside in the wood barrels and change somewhat over time depending upon factors such as the age of the barrel and the ambient temperature at which the barrels are stored. New barrels are rotated into the mix as old barrels are rotated out and as such, Riserva varies somewhat in color and tartness from year to year. Riserva is much higher in alcohol than its Belgian lambic framboise cousins and is a true treat to experience.

A very limited quantity of Riserva is distributed to select states, however, you will be able to purchase it here at the brewery starting at 10 am on Saturday, March 23rd.

.

mybeerbuzz.com Weyerbacher Feed

Weyerbacher Renames Blanche - White Sun Wit

Some exciting news coming from Weyerbacher today as they choose a new name for their Blanche beer---White Sun Wit.

And here you thought Weyerbacher only made BIG beers! White Sun Wit is a 4.6% ABV absolutely awesome unfiltered Belgian Style white beer. With the branding changes and label art makeover nearly complete, we decided to rename our oft-mispronounced spring seasonal. We’ve been making this exact same beer for years under the name “Blanche”. One can only be reminded of the Golden Girls so many times!

We’d love to hear your thoughts on the new name and label. We really feel the label here captures the essence one of the places where you just want to ditch the IPA and go for the unfiltered wheat.

This beer will be coming out in April and should be available through July. Read more about White Sun Wit! Cheers!

White Sun Wit (4.6% ABV) is a crisp and hazy Belgian-Style Wit. White Sun Wit is Weyerbacher’s thirst-quenching spring and early summer ale. The nose has a light spiciness from the coriander, orange peel, grains of paradise, and star anise. The palate reveals a mild, refreshing and effervescent wheat beer that finishes with just a hint of tartness. Available from April through July. Enjoy!

Note: White Sun Wit was formerly known as Blanche. The recipe is absolutely identical, this was simply a name change. Riserva is fermented with a blend of Saccharomyces yeast, Brettanomyces yeast, and lactic acid bacteria that produce funky, sour, and fruity flavors and aromas. The beer is aged for more than a year in oak barrels with Raspberries, giving the beer a pungent raspberry aroma, a lovely red color and a balancing wood character. This brew is a beautiful beer both to your eyes and to your taste buds. Riserva is much higher in alcohol than its Belgian lambic frambois cousins and is a true treat to experience.

A very limited quantity of Riserva is distributed to select states. Check it out at the release event on March 23rd, 2013 starting at 10:00am running through 3:30pm.
.

mybeerbuzz.com Weyerbacher Feed

Weyerbacher Brewer’s Reserve - Zulu Eastoner Weisse Coming 3/23

Details on this label are here…and now this from Weyerbacher:

Zulu, 3.7% ABV, is an “Eastoner Weisse”; a wheat ale that has a satisfying lactic sourness that was crafted in Easton, PA. width="421" height="369" />

I’ve been asking our pal Chris Wilson for over a year now what will happen when Weyerbacher Brewer’s Select series hits “Z” or ZULU, and now I may have my answer. Details on Yankee bill it as the 2nd to last release in the Brewers’ Select series. This from Weyerbacher:

The 25th installment – that’d be 2nd to LAST – in the Brewers’ Select Series is Yankee! No, this is not about baseball! For those of you just tuning in, the Brewer’s Select Series follows the NATO alphabet: Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, etc. Yankee is the letter “Y”.

Yankee is an “Old Ale” and as such is expected to cellar quite nicely. Described by some as a ‘baby barleywine’, this beer is an Old Ale, 8.4% ABV with 51 IBU. Yankee is a full-bodied, mahogany ale with an intense malt aroma and flavor. You’ll find caramel, bread and fruit, with a touch of spice and smoke with a warm vinous finish. English East Kent Golding hops balance out this malty treasure!

Happy Holidays!

As with all Brewers’ Select releases, Yankee was bottled in a very small run and will not be made again. Look for Yankee on draft at select finer restaurants and pubs and in bottles exclusively at the Weyerbacher Visitors Center!

Note: Yankee will debut on Black Friday at the Visitors Center. Note: the Visitors Center will be open at NOON on Black Friday (November 23rd) and close at the regular 7:00pm. See you there!
.

mybeerbuzz.com Weyerbacher Feed

Weyerbacher Riserva 2012

<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-1qUWXH4S4m4/UKehVN4vYRI/AAAAAAABJHM/TuEcO-gH0DQ/s1600-h/image%25255B2%25255D.png"
