A must read paper for IT architects and directors for Linux® servers.

Many IT professionals are drawn by the savings that Linux® brings to the data center but are concerned about the potential uptime and data protection risks that arise from trusting their business-critical applications to “free” or native software. Native Linux solutions also prove challenging with required manual scripting and lack of automated operations and management. For business-critical data center applications, the complete line of Symantec high availability, data protection, backup and recovery, disaster recovery and storage management offerings deliver UNIX-class performance, scalability, administration, and support on Linux.

In this paper, Frost & Sullivan examine historical concerns about Linux virtualization, and assess why, when, and how enterprises can safely virtualize their critical Linux workloads.

Virtualization technologies have gained a strong footing in enterprise data centers in recent years. According to Frost & Sullivan research, 65 percent of all U.S. businesses have incorporated virtualization into their data centers. For many of those, the commitment to virtualization is serious -- 20 percent have virtualized more than three-quarters of their servers--a number that is expected to double in the next two years.
Thanks to RecImg Manager, you can easily undo the damage without losing your software or personal files. With RecImg Manager, Windows and every piece of installed software can be recovered. Your entire system can be restored to its original state without personal data loss!

Backup: RecImg Manager backs up core operating system files, as well as installed software. This creates a smaller disk image than current solutions.

Restore: RecImg Manager reinstalls only Windows 8 and your software, which means documents, videos, music and other personal files remain untouched and intact - nothing is lost.

Traditional Backup

Traditional PC backup and recovery tools have simply taken a snapshot of the PC's entire disk. Unfortunately, this resulted in the loss of personal documents created or altered since the snapshot was taken, and required a significant amount of storage space.

RecImg Backup

With RecImg Manager, Backup images are small enough to be stored on tablets, ultrabooks and other Windows devices. You can store backups on both local and removable drives. Only the operating system and installed software are stored in the image, meaning all documents are left intact.

Backup

    Small Backup Size
    Backup Windows8 Installed Software
    Simple to Backup
    High Speed

Restore

    Perfect Restore
Restore Windows 8 & Installed Software
    1 Click operation
    High Speed

Download RecImg Manager

You can download RecImg Manager from here

Screenshots
This tutorial will explain How to Rotate screen in Windows 7 using keyboard

You apparently have a monitor that is capable of rotating and you're making assumptions that every system works like yours.

Some graphic devices do support a keyboard shortcut to rotate the screen, notably nVidia, enables the Ctrl+Alt+Arrow Keys.

For ATI Radeon adapter users

- Installed the latest version of Catalyst  Control Center;
- in the main screen you have the "Preferences" button; click it
- Click the first option ("Hotkeys" or similar, I have it in Italian, don'know exactly what is the english name)
- In the list, double-click the items you'd like to activate and assign a
hotkey (i.e. CTRL-ALT+Cursor key). The ones meant to rotate the display
are the first four.
- Click OK;

How can I move default location of Public folders in windows 7

This tutorial will explain How to move default location of Public folders in windows 7

This can be done through a Directory Junction which can redirect to a new location of Public folder.

First create a new folder on E:\ and perhaps you want to call it Public.

Go to Cmd prompt by running as Administrator.

Copy everything from existing public folder to the new folder created by using the command
robocopy /MIR %SYSTEMDRIVE%\Users\Public E:\Public (or whatever name you used for public folder on E:)

You need robocopy as it takes care of hidden files, etc, especially if you have Recorded TV folder within public folder.

Once the copy is transferred, you need to delete the existing public folder and create a junction in its place. For this, boot into Safe Mode as an administrator and delete the public contents and folder, and again by starting the Cmd prompt as an administrator. To remove the Public folder:

rmdir /s /q %SYSTEMDRIVE%\Users\Public

Having created the new location folder, and deleting the existing public folder, now is time to create a Directory Junction for public folder with the following command:

mklink /J %SYSTEMDRIVE%\Users\Public E:\Public (or whatever name you named the opublic folder on E:\)

for example: mklink /J C:\Users\Public E:\Public

Now, whatever is meant for the original Public folder gets directed to the new location.

Fuduntu 2012.3 Released and Download links included

Andrew Wyatt has announced the release of Fuduntu 2012.3, a new quarterly update of the project's rolling-release distribution originally forked from Fedora: "I would like to announce the immediate availability of Fuduntu 2012.3, our third quarterly release for 2012. Like all previous Fuduntu releases, this release follows our tradition of making small incremental distribution improvements that don’t sacrifice the stability of our Linux distribution. Existing Fuduntu users have already rolled up to 2012.3, as all of the updates available are released to our stable repository. This cycle focused on many improvements under the hood, including core platform updates like GCC 4.6.3 and Anaconda 16. In addition, Fuduntu now ships GRUB 2 as our default bootloader.

New Features:

This cycle focused on many improvements under the hood, including core platform updates like GCC 4.6.3 and Anaconda 16. In addition we would like to announce the following new features.

GRUB 2 - Fuduntu now ships GRUB 2 as our default bootloader. This change allows better compatibility when dual booting alternate Linux distributions and also helps us prepare for future UEFI support.

For new users GRUB 2 will be installed and configured automatically, however existing Fuduntu users will receive the GRUB 2 software update but the boot loader will not be upgraded automatically. We have documented an optional procedure that will allow you to manually upgrade your bootloader. This documentation is available on our WIKI.

Terminal Font - With 2012.3 we are shipping the latest revision of Infinality Freetype. This improvement allows us to replace our default Terminal font with Droid Sans Mono. This improves the appearance of our terminal for those that spend much of their time using it. This change will be available to all new installations but will not be automatically configured for existing users. To make the change, simply configure the Fixed Width font in Appearance Preferences.

Major package updates this cycle:

    Kernel 3.4.4
    Chromium 19.0.1084.56
    Firefox 13.0.1
    Thunderbird 13.0.1
    LibreOffice 3.5.4.2
    GIMP 2.8
    Pidgin 2.10.4
    Grub2 2.0-0.27
    VirtualBox OSE 4.1.16 New Package!
    GCC 4.6.3
    Infinality Freetype 2.4.10
    WINE 1.4.1

Please note that some of the packages listed above are available for installation from our package repository, but are not installed by default. Long Description: The computer industry has evolved over the years more rapidly than any industry in contemporary history. Year after year engineers have worked valiantly to bring us, the end users, faster and more capable hardware without sacrificing reliability. Programmers and application developers have been equally quick to develop new software that puts to use the new hardware specifications.

However, while striving to sell more and more products, marketing departments want us to believe that PCs, laptops and netbooks become obsolete after a couple of years, and not replacing them makes us luddites.

It's not true. Except for high-end gaming, a mid-level system bought in 2006 will provide enough functionality to get work done and have fun in 2011. Word processing, Internet surfing, watching movies shouldn't make your old system think twice, granted it is configured correctly, up-to-date and has an operating system that's efficient and performance oriented. Also with this free guide you will also receive daily updates on new cool websites and programs in your email for free courtesy of MakeUseOf.
