Is it True: Airtel Throttling Torrent Speed

Airtel is the best ISP (Internet Service Provider) in India. I am an Airtel broadband subscriber since 2007 and i loved their service. But since last few month i was suffering from slow download speed especially torrent speed. When i try to download any file via torrent the maximum speed i reach is 20Kbps.

I am not the only one facing such problem. Almost every Airtel subscriber is facing such problem. I tried every possible way to solve this problem and even tried to contact customer care but they provided me a dumb excuse "Bit torrent servers are problematic these days" sounds funny, more over they ask you to test speed at speedtest site and since these people are playing with torrents only so speedtest shows that your connection is providing right speed.

It is clear that Airtel is cheating its customers but the worst part of this issue is even TRAI is aware of this speed throttling. There is no doubt that Airtel is throttling p2p (torrent) traffic.

If you facing slow P2P download speed then try downloading files between 11PM to 10AM. I have tried it myself as Airtel is throttling download speed between 9AM to 9PM.

Youtube is best online video sharing platform which is a part of Google Network. Youtube recently rolled out a test page "YouTube Video Speed History" which shows the past video speeds of YouTube videos you watched from your location (your current browser at your current IP address). It also shows aggregate video speed by other users in your city, state, country, and worldwide.

YouTube show you the daily average video speed your browser has had when connecting from the same IP address in the past, provided that you’ve watched videos on YouTube in the past 30 days from the same browser.

My broadband connection is of Airtel and my download speed is 2Mbps. But according to youtube speed check my average youtube video playback speed is 1.41Mbps. This difference may be due to bandwidth being allocated to torrent clients and other downloads.

If you are thinking of buying a tablet for yourself and you can't afford iPad 2 then i think you should get your hands over BlackBerry Playbook. Recently RIM has slashed down price of all variants of Playbook. All models of Blackberry Playbook whether 16GB or 64Gb are now for $299 only.

When i tried Blackberry Playbook for the first time i found it pretty amazing. I could record 1080p videos with its 5 MP camera, multi-tasking was enabled and top of all it was Blackberry Playbook. But considering the cost factor it was an OK gadget.

But since prices have come down I would like to buy this gadget but i am not the only one thinking of buying BB Playbook. As soon as prices were cut down all most all retails stores ran out of BB Playbook in India. Within a week all units were sold out. The tablet is also out of stock with online retailers such as Flipkart and LetsBuy in India.
