A lot of professors give talks titled “The Last Lecture.” Professors are asked to consider their demise and to ruminate on what matters most to them. And while they speak, audiences can’t help but mull the same question: What wisdom would we impart to the world if we knew it was our last chance? If we had to vanish tomorrow, what would we want as our legacy?

When Randy Pausch, a computer science professor at Carnegie Mellon, was asked to give such a lecture, he didn’t have to imagine it as his last, since he had recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer. But the lecture he gave–”Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams”–wasn’t about dying. It was about the importance of overcoming obstacles, of enabling the dreams of others, of seizing every moment (because “time is all you have…and you may find one day that you have less than you think”). It was a summation of everything Randy had come to believe. It was about living.

You do lots of things every day. You do so every week, every month, and suddenly you realize that the year has passed and you have almost forgotten about yourself. But in order to be able to appreciate what you have accomplished, you need to be aware of your own needs and of your development as a person. You need to feel comfortable with who you are, which implies taking care of yourself and maintaining your friendships. It also means trying to see the good parts even in difficult situations.

If you want to be able to develop harmoniously as well physically, as psychologically, you need to have a healthy breakfast, which increases your memory and drink coffee moderately, thus avoiding the state of irritation. It is very important to take care of your body, so quit watching TV so much, and try to get some exercise instead! If you cannot do it alone, find someone who is in a similar position, together it is much easier! Also train your brain by solving puzzles or learning something new, be it a foreign language or a new computer program.

Even at work it is important to work out, stretching makes you feel better and relax a bit. It is also important to smile, people on the other end of the phone feel your smile. Even you feel better when you smile. If you do not feel like smiling, you may think of something nice that always cheers you up – the smile comes by itself. You also feel good when you are able to make someone else feel good. So help when you can. To see the result of your work bringing a smile on someone’s face is one of the most beautiful rewards. This goal is one that has to come from the heart.

To manage to stay connected during the week, it often helps to go away for the weekend and forget everything else for a couple of days. You relax and afterwards you are able to fulfil your tasks with more concentration. If you do not travel to some other place, spend some time with your family and your pets. It reduces stress considerably.

You need to separate work and private life, so that you can always have your peace when you are at home. Never take the loved ones for granted and try to spend as much possible time with them. Affection is extremely important in a normal healthy development.

Laughing is one of the best methods to get rid of stress. You might laugh out loud at a good joke or even at yourself. Being funny at work or laughing with your colleagues and friends always lightens up the atmosphere. Try to develop as a person whom you yourself would enjoy spending time with. Then others will, too.

Because stress is one of our biggest problems, we need not to let it take us down. So sit back and watch the nature, a beautiful sunset, listen to relaxing music. If you see that you cannot develop as you wish, there might be a problem you cannot handle alone. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.

It is also important to keep up a hobby and not to feel guilty when sitting and doing nothing after a busy day. Appreciate your own work and accept little rewards you can give yourself. Spend some time by yourself; allow yourself a nap or a tea break.

And don’t forget – telling yourself that you feel good is the first step to do so. Paying attention to some of the tips and trying some of them means a start to a better development of your own person.

People are not all the same. Some have self-confidence and thus believe in themselves, knowing that they are going to get what they want from their life. They are confident in their capacity of dealing with any situation that may occur. They act very self-confident, so that even people around them notice their aura of self-assurance, feeling well in their company.

In contrast, there are other people who do not dare to show what they are capable of. They are gifted, but do not confide enough in their own abilities. These people are victims of the several myths that surround self-confidence. One of the foremost myths about self-confidence is that people are born with self-confidence, that it is something that cannot be learned. This is anything but true. Self-confidence, like other skills, can be built. All you need is right guidance and a belief in yourself.

Other people consider self-confidence as being linked to good looks. They cannot see that one has nothing to do with the other. People look just as confident as they feel. The only way to overcome this myth is learning to believe in their strength.

Actually, talent and self-confidence are not to be taken one for another. There are scores of talented actors and actresses who do very well in their professions but whose personal lives are torn by lack of self-confidence. Talent can be an important component of self-confidence, but it is certainly not a substitute for self-confidence. You do not need to be a good actor to harness the skills that you possess.

Another myth is that self-confidence is directly proportional to the recognition and praise that an individual gets in his or her life; the ones who are not so lucky wallow in self-pity. Of course you feel good if others appreciate your work, but you cannot simply depend on the praise lavished by others. To get so far to be praised by the others, you have to work very hard – and this you can do only if you are self-confident. The same applies to those who are not successful. They, too, can earn praise if they work hard and win people’s respect.

Such people should look at children. Children believe in themselves, and this gives them the self-confidence to try to do things they have never done before, be it learning how to cycle or how to swim. In fact, no child is born knowing all the skills. But it does not take long to teach children most of the basic skills. So, why should it be difficult for adults to learn new skills or brave new challenges?

Another myth is that only self-confident people can afford to take risks. Which, again, is not true. In fact, self-confident people are more realistic about their capabilities; they can appreciate their limits. Even more important, they know how to deal with failure. In contrast, people who lack self-confidence are afraid of failure, which keeps them from taking on new tasks. They constantly pine for the approval of others, and when they do not get it they end up losing their self-confidence.

It is a question of looking at things. People must realize that self-confidence is a state of mind. It is not dependent upon a person’s beauty or looks. It flows from a person’s self-belief, and this belief can be built. All that a person needs to do is to debunk myths that self-confidence cannot be acquired or that self-confidence is a byproduct of exceptional knowledge, skills and luck. Once they do so, they will find it easier to acquire the same magnetic powers that self-confident people have.

Do you find yourself overwhelmed by the large number of projects you have to complete or the severity of these projects? Do you feel the day goes by without you focusing enough on each task because other tasks show up, or because you can’t get yourself organized?

Perhaps you know that effective time management will help you get more things done each day. It has also many important health benefits, as well. By managing your time more carefully, you can reduce stress and improve your quality of life.

But will you get back on track when time management skills don’t come naturally? For starters, just pick one of these time-management tips, try it for two to four weeks and see if it helps. If it does, consider trying another one too. If not, try a different one.
• Plan your day

Planning your day may help you feel more in control of you life. You can create a “To-Do” list, putting the most important tasks on top. Keep track of your daily activities to reduce the tension and last minute rushes.

• Prioritize your assignments
Like many people, you may be spending the majority of your time on a small percentage of your tasks. Prioritizing will ensure you spend your time and energy on those that are truly important to you.

• Say NO to unimportant tasks
Consider your goals and schedule before deciding to take on extra work.

• Delegate
Examine your “To-Do” list and think of the tasks you can cut off or pass on to someone else.

• Take the time you need to do quality work
Completing tasks right the first time may take more time upfront, but errors usually occur in the time spent making corrections, which takes more time overall.

• Break large, time-wasting jobs into smaller tasks
Work on them a couple of minutes at a time until you get them all done.

• Apply the 10-minute method
Work on a less exciting task for 10 minutes each day. Once you get yourself started, you may find that you can actually complete it.

• Analyze how you’re spending your time
Keep a journal of all the things you do for three days to see how you’re actually spending your time. Find time that you can use more wisely.

• Get lots of sleep and do your exercise
Higher focus will boost your productivity and you will finish your tasks in less time.

• Allow yourself a break when you need it
Too much stress can block your efforts at getting organized. When you need a break, just allow yourself one. Take a walk or do some quick stretches at your work place. You can even take a day off from the office.

Procrastination is one of the toughest problem people can ever face. Procrastination can cost you tremendously, suddenly leaves you hopeless for the future. How can you wake up every morning with no goals to direct you through the day?

Here are 13 Tips to STOP Procrastination:

1. Analyze your “should”

When we feel compelled by someone else we may feel blocked for action. Change your “should” with “want” and then take responsibility for completing a certain job. Rather than saying, “I should make this important phone call,” switch to: “I want to call my partner in Australia.”

2. Examine your excuses consciously
Actually, create a list with all the excuses you use that keep you from getting a job done. Then dwell upon each excuse and write beside it a more realistic thought. For instance, “I’m not in the mood” can be explained as “Mood doesn’t get the job done.”

3. Use self-motivation affirmations
The way we define a task can dramatically change our motivation to complete it. Many people keep repeating positive affirmations in their mind, or even put notes in visible places, which serve to keep them going. Try out affirmation quotes like: “The sooner I finish this task, the sooner I’m free,” or “There’s no better time like the present.”

4. Make up a “To-Do” list
Create a list of things you need to do – today, this week or this month – and then cross them off the list, one by one, as they are completed. This list helps you see exactly what must be accomplished and you can get a great sense of fulfillment as the list gradually shortens.

5. Set priorities
On your “To-Do List”, rank the tasks that must be completed in order of their importance. Then all you have to do is focus on one thing at a time.

6. Break the job down into smaller pieces
This is one of the most effective ways to overcome procrastination. Write down all the steps required for completing your project and see each step as a manageable task that can be done with little or no effort. Even if we’re not exactly thrilled about certain tasks, we can find ways to handle them if they last only for a short time.

7. Take a stand on your success
Write yourself an agreement to complete a task and then sign it. Or tell a close friend that you’re planning to complete a job by a certain date. Making your project public and not keeping it to yourself will help you gain the support of others when you feel down.

8. Organize
Make sure you have a clean desk and everything you need stands in front of you. Eliminate distractions like the TV running in the background if you must focus. Let others know that you will be unavailable during certain hours of the day.

9. Manage your stress
There are many techniques you can use to eliminate stress – deep breathing, meditation, visualization, physical exercise, comedy movies and relaxation music.

10. Get started!
You don’t have to wait until you get inspired by a sparkling idea write that speech. Just write whatever comes to your mind and you can polish it later. All journeys begin with one small step.

11. Reward yourself when achieving a small goal
Rather than procrastinating an entire evening by calling friends, call a supportive friend only when you have written a page of your report as a way of rewarding yourself.

12. Examine all you have accomplished
Rather than blaming yourself for not having done enough, apply the most positive approach of looking at everything that you have done. What do you see? The glass half empty or half full?

“Synchronicity is the coming together of inner and outer events in a way that cannot be explained by cause and effect and that is meaningful to the observer”. – Carl Jung

If you want to observe synchronicity more closely into your life, I have a little experiment for you. This will cost you some money, but if you can afford it, it may be worth it for the endless hours of mind-growth, amazement and guidance, if you are receptive and open-minded to it.

Try to find a reasonably priced 1-3 GB mp3 player (depending on the size of your collection). After buying an mp3 player, place all of your CDs in it and put it on “shuffle” or “random.”

If you are open and receptive to the concept of synchronicity, you will eventually be able to notice how the music that is playing will often correspond with what your are doing, thinking, or feeling.

You may have already noticed music synchronicity while listening to the radio. However, there are many advertisements (which, like everything else, can be sources of synchronicity but are often annoying) and you will not be able to customize the music to your values and beliefs the way you can with a multiple-disc CD player.
Synchronicity of course works with 256 RAM mp3 players, but to give the “voice of synchronicity” a larger “word list” it would be great if you could find an mp3 player that is capable of holding your entire collection of CDs. I would like to strongly recommend that you only add to your list the songs that do reflect your values or self-concept.

I believe that the information we assimilate is a conscious – or subconscious if we’re not paying attention – way of programming ourselves. Therefore, if we absorb songs about death, helplessness, guilt, and so on, then we are programming ourselves to reflect these attitudes, and manifest these experiences in our lives.

Besides, remember that you can determine who you are. Synchronicity may reflect who you are, and it may challenge your inner self by presenting options, but you always have the freedom of choice and are always creating who you want to become.

There are infinite possibilities that need only intent to become real. In order to truly observe something, you must put aside everything else around it. It is perception and observation that turns possibilities into something real.

You have to be looking for new opportunities that will open up to fulfill your desire. These opportunities do not happen by mere luck, but rather they occur because they were created by your intent.

How often do you find yourself complaining about having too many things to do and not enough time to do it in, or having to be in more places at the same time, and simply not having enough time?

We all spend our time doing all sorts of activities, yet we fail to realize that in fact there is so little we do achieve in the end, only because we are not concentrating on what we should, on the right things.

The Pareto Principle, also know as the “80:20 Rule”, comes to reinforce this, as it argues that little more than 80% of our unfocused effort is likely to generate only 20% of results. What remains, (80% of results) is achieved with how much effort do you think? Only 20%!

The ratio may not always be 80:20, as the rule describes it, but what matters is the pattern of a relatively small amount of activity generating non-scalar results. This recurs frequently enough to become a pattern, in many areas.

Find out how much is your time worth
If you choose to focus on results, you should first take time to think just how much your time is worth. This will ultimately help you answer your doubts on whether you are spending your time in a profitable manner for you.

Whenever you decide if it’s best to begin doing something or not, to take a task or not, you should first ask yourself if that particular project has a certain value, and if, by committing yourself to it you will be only wasting your resources and nevertheless your time.

Find out what to spend your time on
When focusing on results, it is a must that you know what exactly to shift your focus upon! We all work hard every day, often doing small jobs that will not eventually affect in any way the quality of what we do.

Doing what you enjoy

The quality of your life resides in you enjoying and feeling comfortable with what it is you are doing. If you have an idea about what things you like and don’t like, you will have what it takes to be able to shift your activities towards doing whatever you most like and enjoy.
If you love what you do, then you will not only be efficient, but you will be committing you and your time to activities you enjoy. There is no such thing as the perfect job; there are at times quite tedious aspects in everything we do, but what is important here is to do even these less pleasant that it’s up to you over time to minimize this.

Focusing on your top abilities
It is highly important to discover what your strongest points are and also the areas where you’re less efficient – in other words, discover what your talents are and learn how to improve those skills.
It is always great to know your strengths and your weaknesses, and then know how to take full advantage of the opportunities that present you, or how to deal with the possible threats that may trouble you. It is very important to find a job that best suits your strengths and skills and where your weakest points don’t matter.

Find out how you really spend your time
Have you ever thought how much time do you waste every day by focusing on unimportant activities that don’t really contribute to your success at work or your family life?
Do you actually know how much time you’ve spent reading or deleting junk mail, talking to colleagues, making coffee and eating lunch? Can you even remember how often you have thought that you could’ve achieved so much more if you just had another half hour each day.
Activity logs help you keep track of your activities so that you can better analyze how you are actually spending your time. When reading your notes for the first time you will be shocked to realize the amount of time you waste!

Memory is not the best guide when it comes to keeping track on how you’ve spent your time, because we easily forget the time spent doing nothing, reading junk mail, talking to colleagues at work, making coffee, watching TV and so on.
Besides, you may also be unaware that your energy levels may be different throughout the day, influencing you effectiveness. This may also depend on the amount of sugar in your blood, the time you have spent doing something without taking a break, stress, distractions and many other such factors.

Take time to analyze your activity log, and try to identify and eliminate whatever you consider time-wasting and unimportant. You will also learn to identify the times of day when you are most efficient and energetic, so you can complete the most important assignments during these times.

‘To Do Lists’ – prioritize your tasks
‘To Do’ List is a list that helps us keep track of the tasks that need to be carried out. It puts together all the things that must be one throughout the day. You can then prioritize these tasks into order of importance.
‘To Do’ lists are simple, yet very powerful, as a way of both organizing your time and reducing the stress. At times, problems may seem overwhelming or we may apparently have a large number of demands on your time. All these have a negative impact on our ability to control and organize our work, often overburdening us.

Personal goal setting – live your life your way
Setting goals and targets will help you decide want to achieve and then gradually move towards the achievement of these goals. You will be able to identify al the things that may distract you from concentrating on your goals.
All successful people – athletes, politicians, and business people– have used this powerful technique of setting goals. It gives you long-term picture and short-term motivation for what you have to do. Effective goal setting focuses your acquisition of knowledge and helps you to organize your resources.

Why you’ll never be able to “find” time
We need to manage our time, because we never have enough time to do everything we want and need to do. Especially, we never seem to find time for what is really important and urgent. Stop looking, because you’ll never find the “right time”. You are living it. All you have to do is re-focus your attention and energy towards the things that really matter.
You have to make time by taking it away from one activity and giving it to another. Everyday, if possible, you should make list of the tasks you want to achieve and work through those tasks until they are completed. Each time we complete a task we are actually boosting our self-esteems and promoting motivation.
Time management is not as difficult as some many believe. On the contrary, time management means understanding the value of time, setting goals and working hard to achieve these goals.

Thanks to the movie “The Secret”, the World is waking up to The Law of Attraction
If you’re like me, you loved “The Secret”. It’s a exciting, entertaining, and a great introduction to the idea that your thoughts actually create your reality.
Perhaps you’ve seen the teachers from “The Secret” on Oprah or Larry King Live, or maybe you just ran across the movie yourself, but once you’ve seen the movie or heard the teachers, you can begin to see brand new possibilities opening in your life.

Did you know The Law of Attraction has been:
• Shared among millions of people worldwide
• Debated upon hundreds of forums and websites
• Spreading across the Internet like fire
• Making millions of fans and millions asking for more…

This is a universe based on order and there’s nothing happening by accident. The images you create in your brilliant mind instantly set up an attractive force, which controls the results in your life.

But if applying The Secret is as simple as that, why aren’t more people happy, wealthy, even contented about the state their lives are in?

The answer is simple:
There is a science to using the Law of Attraction successfully in order to create the life you truly want.

One of the most dramatic weaknesses of humankind is the average person’s familiarity with the word “impossible.” People seem to know all the rules which will don’t work and all the things which cannot be done.

Napoleon Hill, said that “success comes to those who become SUCCESS CONSCIOUS”.
Here are the three most powerful keys to quickly start recreating your life:

1. Start being grateful for what you already have.
It doesn’t mater where you live or what you have. If you’re reading this, you’re most likely living like a king or queen compared to people in third world countries. You may even be living better than kings or queens from history, as they often lived in cold, violent, frightful times. You’ve got it made.

2. Clearly state what you want, without feeling, as if it is already achieved.
There’s a great magic in saying “Id love to do …………, but it won’t be the end of the world if I don’t do it.” Since the world is made of pure energy and infinite possibilities, when you declare what you want, you start attract it into your life.
But when you say you need something, the need pushes that thing away. You must choose what you want, and feel the joy of already having it, without feeling desperate. The need will push it away, while desire will attract it. If you feel as if you already have it, then eventually you will have it.

3. Act on your intuition and opportunities.
You may get offers, calls, or who knows what. Act on them as you never know what will drive you towards your goal. You cannot see the big picture. Intuition and opportunities will come to you from outside the box, and your only job is to act on them. And as you do, you will be directed to your goal, even when it seems you are being blocked away. The key is to have faith.

You see, The Secret is not about the money. It’s about gaining the freedom to become the real YOU. This is what you’ve been waiting for – straight advice on how to use The Secret!
“All the powers of the Universe are already ours; it is we who have put our hands before our eyes and cry that it is dark!” Vivekananda

Have you ever experienced an unusual event happening exactly at a meaningful time and wondered if it was an answer to your prayer?

Coincidence is rarely mere meaning that two or more situations or events happening at the same time are likely to have something in common. Synchronicities are specific patterns that repeat over time. The word ’synchronicity’ actually ascribes the time mechanisms, though the actual concept of synchronicity cannot be scientifically proven. We can only record synchronicities as they occur and by observing the types of behavior that create these unusual events.

Synchronicities come in forms of people, places or circumstances that are attracted into your life to help you grow to higher levels of awareness or to put an emphasis on something going on in your life. Everyday you encounter meaningful coincidences, synchronicities that you have attracted in the grid of your experiences in the physical world. We all know the words, “There are no accidents.” And this is true. All that we experience and attract to our physical world is meant to happen.
Still, coincidences aren’t always positive occurrences. For instance, if you are suffering, have emotional problems, and therefore are a drama person, you are attracting and manifesting dysfunctional people and situations as reflections of your own inner disorder. These people will always disappoint you, as opposed to your need to have the experience. Observe the underlying facts when the synchronicity occurs to understand the reasons you attracted that certain person or event into your life.
Some synchronicities occur just to make a quick point. Don’t blow them out of proportion. You must look at the bigger picture of the synchronicity – think outside the box, not at the actual experience. The higher and stronger your frequency and intent are, the quicker you manifest synchronicities.

Examples of Synchronicity

You are having financial difficulties, yet you have the money for basic expenses like the rent, food, and utilities. You start having faith in it. At first you feel grateful and thank the universe or god, and then you realize that YOU create this abundance. You start learning to observe how you manifest and why, seeing yourself from outside the box.

While being in a book store and not knowing what to choose, the book you need just falls from a shelf and practically hits you over the head.

You have just received your last unemployment benefit when suddenly a job offer appears.

You have been feeling sick without any clear diagnosis. By chance, you get to meet a person that knows a doctor or healer with all the answers. All physical problems occur from emotional disorders. When the person is prepared to be healed, the doctor will be there as if by synchronicity.

There is a sudden relocation which seems to be for one reason, but later you see that everything has turned out completely different, for as the synchronicities rapid occur as if a domino effect. For instance, you relocate for a new job, then, as if by coincidence, someone ’special’ comes into your life. You and that person have attracted each other for experience, as all life would mean nothing more than that. In other cases, the energies of that specific place hold something transformational for you, which is perhaps the very reason your soul created the move.

You finally put an end to a miserable relationship and almost instantly a new person comes into your life as if by synchronicity.

You meet someone you really like and whose presence makes you real good. Through synchronicity that person seems to pop up into your life over and over again and you start feeling that fate has brought that person to you. In some cases the connection between two people is fruitful, but there are also times when you have attracted someone into your life for a learning lesson, whether you are aware of it or not.

You are feeling depressed and don’t seem to find focus in your life. Somehow, the next person you talk you says something that brings you an inspired thought and offers guidance. Learn from the people who come along, but never become addicted to them.

CONCLUSION
Synchronicity shows up in your life and finds its way through single incidences, strings, and a bunch of strange events. Usually people experience synchronicity when they are open and perceptive, which is a reflection of the outer conditions in which they might put themselves.
Special circumstances such as death, birth and times of crisis or turmoil are external conditions that push us towards awareness, because when things become unpredictable we feel more vulnerable. Major turning points, personal difficulties, falling in or out of love, rescues from danger, and traveling are times when worries of daily life fade as we are drawn into the currents of a larger existence.

The basic principle is that whenever we ask for help, all of a sudden people and opportunities show up out of the blue to help us accomplish what we are trying to do. I believe that points to a deeper level of interconnection between all parts of the Universe.
These experiences surprise and amaze the purely rational mind, because most people don’t have a mind frame for random occurrences that seem to fit our needs beyond coincidences. The Universe does provide us with everything we need to follow our destiny in this wonderful journey that is life. We only have to ask, and then PAY ATTENTION.
