Like everyday, wearing a band’s T-shirt.

How would you describe your style?

That’s the most difficult question to answer… I love being feminine, I only wear clothes that fit me. I cannot undestand trends that make the woman look ugly. Always with some rocking accesories! I hate overdressed outfits; that’s what I always try to look simple.

Mix nude colours.

Who or what has been your greatest fashion influence?

My mother, she’s the classiest woman alive!

If you owned a shop, what would it be called?

My son’s nickname but I can’t say that! Haha!

Who are your favourite emerging designers and what is it that you love about them?

You know what? I’m not very interested in new designers and all of these, I follow the trends but I’m not obsessed with them.

What item of clothing (if any) do you wish that more of us wore?

More DIY clothes, everything would be more original.

I used to drink a cold Diet Coke and visit topshop.com. But now everything is much better, I just hug my 5 months old son and then I’m the happiest woman alive!

I have been and I’m a devoted mum, that is the best “job” I have. You know, I really love my job, I think I’m very lucky to do what I love and be paid for it but being a mum is much better.

Finally, what’s the one question you wish people asked you but you’ve never had the opportunity to answer? (And what is the answer?)

Haha, what a difficult question! I don’t know… What’s your favourite food? Egg with french fries. Haha, not very original…

Interview with Fashion Blogger Claire from The Fashion Bomb

With nods from the likes of the New York Post and as a former Teen Vogue and Women’s Wear Daily blogger of the moment, Paris resident and writer-researcher Claire Sulmers from The Fashion Bomb is fast becoming a style expert on all things urban! Her blog attracts thousands of visitors a day and we can see why: the site offers everything from the latest style and trend stories to the hottest boutiques in town, gives you celebrity looks for less and takes you to the likes of New York Fashion Week (virtually speaking, of course). Here, Claire reveals her thoughts on everything from blogging to bras…

This morning, you woke up:

And started blogging! As soon as I wake up, I take a few minutes to reflect on what I’m thankful for. Then I crack open the window, open the shades, then grab my computer and start checking e-mails and updating my site! I work part time, so half the week I have to make sure I update in the morning because I’ll be gone all day. I typically post about 3-4 articles in the morning, go about my day, then come back and post the rest in the evening.

How would you describe your style?

I’m a super duper prep and I love to wear blazers with pearls, skinny jeans, and flats. Now that I’m in Paris and kind of doing my own thing, I’m looking to incorporate a few more unexpected elements to my wardrobe like ripped jeans, shoes boots, and smart accessories.

What other fashion blogs would you recommend?

There are so many! I love New York Magazine’s the Cut Blog for their fun voice, Fashionista for their coverage of fashion news, and Models.com for their up to the minute dispatches on models and editorials. I also like photo blogs like Jak and Jil, get a London point of view from Fashionologie, and get my celebrity fix from blogs like Stuff Fly People Like, Necole Bitchie, and Young, Black, and Fabulous.

Fashion tip for the season?

Have fun and wear a blazer.

What’s your super power?

The ability to see the big picture

Who or what has been your greatest fashion influence?

Travelling and being inspired by different definitions of chic.

If you owned a shop, what would it be called?

Silmé. My grandfather immigrated to the United States from Haiti. His last name at the time was Silmé, but he changed it to Sulmers when he moved to the States so his name would sound more American. Silmé symbolizes acknowledgement and ownership of my past and could live on concretely in a store—my future. The name also represents my love of all things French, and can highlight the time I’ve spent here.

Who are your favourite emerging designers and what is it that you love about them?

Jose Duran. I love his knowledge of draping and flawless craftsmanship. I love Laquan Smith of LaQueu for his great colors and impeccable tailoring. And Telfar because he’s willing to take risks and rethink clothing and traditional silhouettes.

What item of clothing (if any) do you wish that more of us wore?

Proper bras! French women wear halter tops and strapless dress with regular bras (it’s like strapless doesn’t even exist!). It’s confusing. Women in general I’m sure are not wearing proper support. It messes up the whole outfit.

Finally, what’s the one question you wish people asked you but you’ve never had the opportunity to answer? (And what is the answer?)

Not sure. I’m sure people don’t know that I’m a huge dork and love to read.

Steep vs Cheap: Halston or Urban Outfitters?

It’s not often that a trend comes along that promises to be cool but comfortable, enter the jumpsuit.

A vital piece for the “sports luxe” trend, they were seen strutting down numerous catwalks, including Stella McCartney, Missoni and Chloé.

A must-have style item for fashion-followers everywhere, they are easy to wear; just add heels and accessories for a chic evening look or pair with gladiator sandals for laid back cool-casual. A number of styles and materials, from sexy silk to sporty styles, are available, just choose what suits you best and you’re ready to go.

My favourites are the cross-over style that are loosely fitting, fab for my easy chic taste. This Halston jumpsuit, available at Net-a-porter is just divine but the £1,110 price tag might be a little too steep for the bank account.

Instead, this Lux Jersey Strappy Jumpsuit available at Urban Outfitters, is near enough the same. I can deal with the minor differences for the steep difference in price.

Eva Herzigova’s not a fan of plastic surgery

Eva Herzigova thinks plastic surgery is “scary looking”.

The 36-year-old supermodel claims no-one who has underdone a cosmetic operation looks good enough to make her want to risk altering her appearance.

Referring to fellow supermodel Claudia Schiffer, Eva said: “Everyone around me is doing things and - probably because I see their faces before and after - it is very scary looking, it’s not attractive. Claudia doesn’t do anything. She’s a friend, and she looks beautiful, she looks natural.

“Whatever is being done out there is not attractive enough for me to go and run to have it done. There is nothing that gets my attention.”

Eva can currently be seen starring alongside Claudia and Naomi Campbell in an advert for Dolce and Gabbana’s new perfumes, and believes the trend for labels to use well known, older models will continue.

She explained to Britain’s Tatler magazine: “It’s a crisis out there and people are not as experimental, they go for something that they know sells, that reminds them of a good time, maybe. I also think that mature women are celebrated today.”

Amanda Wakeley to show at London Fashion Week!

Amanda Wakeley will show her new range at London Fashion Week.

The British designer - who sold her label last December but bought it back in April - is thrilled with the progress the brand has made since she came back.

She said: “I am delighted to return to the London Fashion Week schedule in September, especially during such an important season.

Through buying back my label, I have confirmed my commitment to the continued development of Amanda Wakeley and showing again in London is a key step forward in that process.”

This is the first time the 46-year-old designer - whose Hollywood clients include Scarlett Johansson, Dame Helen Mirren, Demi Moore and Kate Beckinsale - has been in control of her label in over a decade.

She will join a host of coveted fashion houses, including Burberry, Matthew Williamson, Jonathan Saunders and Pringle, who have decided to show in London this September to mark the Fashion Week’s 25th anniversary.

Harold Tillman, chairman of the British Fashion Council is hopeful Britain’s autumn fashion celebration will be the “best yet”.

He said: “September’s London Fashion Week is shaping up to be our biggest and best yet. The timing couldn’t be more perfect for Amanda Wakeley to be back at the helm of her company and on the official catwalk schedule in time for our 25 year celebrations.”
London Fashion Week will take place from September 18-22 at Somerset House.

Agyness Deyn hates fashion

The British model insists she has no interest in the industry that made her name and won’t pursue a catwalk career forever.

She said: “You know, even though I’m in fashion, I don’t, like, do fashion. Fashion isn’t me, even though I work in it. It’s just materialistic stuff. I just want to do whatever makes me happy.”

The blonde beauty also claims she has never admired anyone else in the fashion industry, looking to 1970s music for her style icons.

She explained: “I liked guys quite a lot - like the Clash, you know, punky guys. Siouxsie and the Banshees, X-Ray Spex.”
Agyness - real name Laura Hollins - has become famed for her unique style, but insists she only takes inspiration from herself.

When asked three people who best encapsulate her personal style, she told the New York Times newspaper: “I’d say myself. I take little bits from loads of different people.”

Trying and testing: The Clinique 3 step programme

So, for the past week I’ve been trying out Clinique’s 3 step programme.

Because, not all of us can afford a one to one consultation with a dermatologist, Clinique (with the help of dermatologists of course) has developed a skin care programme tailored to each individual skin type. All products are fragrance free but they vary in strength depending on your skin.

To kick things off, you have to fill in a questionnaire which asks a series of questions to determine your skin type. Once you’re done, Clinique suggests the best products from the range for you. I have very dry and sensitive skin so I was diagnosed as Type 1. So, my three step programme consists of:

Liquid facial soap extra-mild - This doesn’t feel like a facial wash at all, instead it feels more like a moisturizer. It acts like a cleanser and facial wash combined. I was a bit worried that it wouldn’t remove much dirt, but I can confirm that it does. It feels gorgeous and set my skin up nicely for the second step.

Clarifying Lotion 1 - Any dirt that may be left on the skin from the first step will definitely be removed with the clarifying lotion. Don’t let the name fool you, it’s not a lotion, but more of a toner. Because I have dry skin I’m not too keen on using toners as they often leave my skin feeling raw. That wasn’t the case for me with the clarifying lotion. Also, the liquid facial soap did most of the work, so it wasn’t necessary to use much of the clarifying lotion.

Dramatically different moisturizing lotion (very dry to dry combination) - Now this was the best part of the programme for me. I love this lotion. Like the facial wash, it feels amazing. But and it’s a BIG but, I do think it has to be used as part of the programme. When I tried it without going through step 1 and 2, my skin couldn’t breathe.

Results so far? None to speak of, (admittedly, it has only been a week), but I have nothing bad to report either. One good thing that’s come out of the programme, is that it’s forced me to get into a proper skin care routine. I usually skip the whole cleansing and toning and just wash my face twice a day.

I don’t have bad skin but I am prone to a pimple or two, so I’m hoping to see clearer skin in the next week…..a bit too optimistic? Perhaps. I’ll be checking in with my thoughts on the products over the next couple of weeks so stay tuned…
