The Bhutanese communities scatted across the nation will be seen on the same platform to promote our nationality and cultural beliefs. Community College of Aurora (CCA) at Lowry Campus located at the corner of 6th Ave and Dayton Street, North Quad building 901 is offering affordable English classes. These classes are in the mornings, evenings and weekends. These classes are suitable for those individual who are working and have very limited time to go school and want to learn and improve English. It is also suitable to those who have some schooling and wants to go to back to college but needs some requirements which include GED.

I am glad to address the community members/well-wishers/supporters from the position of the secretary of Global Bhutanese Community of Colorado (GBCC) Inc. It is a community based nonprofit organization established on August 16, 2010 to serve the Bhutanese community in Colorado. It carries the vision of preserving, protecting and promoting all the aspects like culture, language, tradition, identity and norms of the community. It is a platform of all Bhutanese in Colorado. On 3/2/2012 at 1:10 am fire breakout in Bhutanese Refugee Camp, Beldangi II, said the source. It is said that the fire started from a hut in Sector B/2. The fire must have been started from a gas stove, the source said.
Although it was during the mid night, the refugee worked hard to bring the fire under control. They were able to bring the fire under control at around 2:30 am. Fire fighter arrived the camp after the fire was under control.
It is learned that there is no lose of life. About 40 huts were burnt and 20/25 are destroyed. Details yet to come.

Census In Camps

World Food Program(WFP) started counting head of all Bhutanese refugees living in all camps since last Monday.

According to the source, the main aim is to issue new ration card by WFP and the official counting requires physical presence of every exiled Bhutanese.

All individuals in a household having refugee identity cards, including children and non-registered, are required during the census.

Meanwhile, the agency team will produce its mobile team for elderly, disabled and those who are bed-ridden. As per the declaration, it is expected to be completed by Febrauary 10.

50,000 Bhutanese Refugees in USA

At a time when one of the world’s largest resettlement programs has attained its climax, the United States of America said it received the 50,000^th exiled Bhutanese from Nepal on Monday.

The number of Bhutanese refugees leaving for the United States as part of the ongoing third country resettlement reached 50,000 on Monday, said a statement issued by the US embassy from Kathmandu.

Together with 9,000 others already relocated to various Core Group countries, the number of Bhutanese refugees resettled has reached 59,000, according to the statement.

“We are grateful to our international partners, most notably the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), for their ongoing protection of this vulnerable population, whether they resettle or not,” said the embassy.

Meanwhile, the statement further said that the US is committed to accepting as many of the Bhutanese refugees whom UNHCR refers to for consideration in Nepal and who meet the requirements of US law for refugee admission.

The Bhutanese resettlement program is currently the second-largest resettlement program for the United States.

Bhutanese refugees, who have resettled in nearly all 50 States, receive employment and educational support from the US federal and state governments as well as non-governmental organizations to begin anew as productive, engaged residents, it added.

Drukair hit by a bird, grounded in Delhi

The Drukair flight KB 204 has been stranded at Indra Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi today. The plane was hit by a bird on the leading edge of the right side flap on the final approach to the airport. The bird hit has made a dent of around 22 by 10 centimetres.
The hit was not known until the standard ground maintenance procedures were happening. This was because the hit has not damaged any sensory part of the aircraft.
According to the Press release from Drukair, assessment of the accident is underway and is trying to put back the aircraft back to its normal flight schedule within the next 24 hours.
The flight landed safely as per schedule with 48 passengers on-board.
