SS501 on MTV Taiwan

SS501 were the special guests on the most recent episode of MTV Taiwan's Crazy Over Japan and Korea Music.

The boys traveled to Taiwan recently and the host and crew of the show met up with the boys at a local hotel for the interview. They talked about their concert, the new album, the smokey makeup that they're wearing for Re-Birth, and more. I won't spoil it for you as the whole video is subbed in english. SS501’s Comeback Was Delayed Due To Plagiarism

It has been a year and seven months since the five boys came together to record as a whole. From the Boys Over Flowers craze to their first world tour, SS501 is bigger, stronger and better than ever.

The group's new mini-album, Rebirth, was set for release in August. However, during the creative process of compiling the record, the title track ended up being an exact replica of another American song.

"We had a different title track, but it ended up being a plagiarism copy," says SS501, "If we ended up releasing it, we could have been in a lot of legal trouble."

SS501 received their ex-title song through an unknown agency. The group recorded the song, but by the end of their Japanese leg of the tour, they realized that there was another song very similar, and then it finally became official that the song was indeed a product of plagiarism.

"We're very sorry that it was delayed for such a long time," SS501 said to the fans, "It was a very hectic process, but we are satisfied with the results. We hope you like it as well. Please keep supporting us!"

The long awaited mini-album will be released on the 20th of October. The title song will be "Love Like This," first performed live in their Seoul concert back in August. Along with "Love Like This," there will be 4 brand new songs.

The boys recently wrapped up their Taipei concert with over 12,000 fans present.

This was the time that Taiwan's best Hallyu star was born.

Idol group SS501 (Kim Hyun Joong, Heo Young Saeng, Park Jung Min, Kim Kyu Jong and Kim Hyung Joon) held their first ever concert in Taiwan, 'Persona in Taipei' on 17-Oct, 7.30pm (local time) at Taipei Super Arena, attracting no less than 12,000 fans.

The concert organizers explained that there are only a handful of singers who are able to fill up such a huge concert venue like this one. This is the most huge scale concert held in the recent 3 years.

The concert started with hit song 'Déjà vu'. The stage extended out like the word "field" (in Chinese), the 5 members appeared from behind the stage and enthusiastic fans cheered in return. Following up, SS501 sang 'Unlock' and stood on the extended stage where the fans' cheering became even louder.

After singing two songs consecutively, SS501 stopped to catch up on their breath and said each of their greetings to the Taiwan fans in Chinese. With the venue packed with fans' cheers, SS501 expressed their happiness on their faces. Kim Kyu Jong said "When we came to Taiwan in June for the fan meeting we asked for everyone to come to our concert, and so I am really grateful that you really came for this."

SS501 continued singing 'Warning', '4 Chance', 'Song Calling For You' pushing the atmosphere even higher. They also put up sentimental performance with ballad song 'Never Again', 'Because I am Stupid'. Wearing sleek suits, they performed 'U R Man' and 'Fighter' with masculine appeal.

SS501 members' solo performance showed each of their own charisma making the audience go wild.

With the screen showing magnae Kim Hyung Joon transformed into a playboy, he appeared performing his solo song 'Hey G'. Kim Kyu Jong displayed his singing skills with 'Never Let You Go' and continued to perform 'Wuss Up'.

Park Jung Min's solo performance is the most unique. Because he sang a Chinese song 'Tian mi mi' in Chinese language. The fans sang along with Park Jung Min. Park Jung Min also sang his solo song 'Is it only me?'.

Heo Young Saeng displayed his singing ability with ballad song 'Memory without Name'. Wearing a blue suit, fans changed their glowstick into blue colored glowsticks for Heo Young Saeng, and cheered for him.

Leader Kim Hyun Joong's performance is indeed, the most powerful. With the video showing his exposed upper body, Kim HyunJoong appeared on stage with his solo song 'Please be nice to me' and exposed his upper body, surprising the fans who cheered wildly.

On stage, SS501 said "We were surprised because the enthusiasm is very high. Taiwan is the 3rd country of our Asia Tour concert and Taiwan's enthusiasm is the highest. The next time we come back to Taiwan, we will see everyone in a concert venue 10 times bigger than this one."

They also said "Even though we felt this every time during our concert, the cheering from everyone is the biggest strength to us. Thank you."

SS501 utilized the huge protruding stage, making all 12,000 fans satisfied.

Taiwan fan LiuXing (30) expressed her afterthoughts on this concert, "The performance is exciting and enjoyable. Kim Hyun Joong is very handsome when he exposed his upper body."

The ticket pricing for this concert ranges from NTD2,400 to NTD4,500. About 90,000won to 180,000won in our currency. Though the ticket prices are not cheap, Taiwan fans have filled up the large concert venue.

Parts of the proceeds from this concert will be donated to victims of Typhoon Morakat in Kaohsiung Taiwan.

With 5 years of debut, SS501 is currently having their Asia Tour concert in Asia region. They held their concert in Korea and Japan in August, and today in Taiwan in October, they will also hold concert in China, HongKong, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, etc.

DSP Media also said that they are planning to have concert in Philippines and Indonesia.

Popular Korean boy band SS501 held their first overseas concert at the Taipei Arena on 17th. Korea idol group SS501 come to Taiwan for the 2nd time on 15 October, attracted about 600 fans to pick up their flight, on top of that, another 50 Hong Kong fans also booked their flight to follow them from Korea to Taiwan, almost paralyzed the airport.

For the 'SS501 Asia Tour Persona 2009 Taipei Concert' held on 17 October, the organizer has spend tens of millions to build the stage, also specially prepared Hollywood star standard Fuji water to serve them.

The concert date is drawing closer, box office had announced an excellent ticket sales of 95%, causing all 5 members to work even harder to practice dancing. In order to get a good seat, some fans had already started queuing at Taipei Arena since last week. Photographs of a fully-recovered and chic-looking SS501 leader Kim Hyun-joong on set for a television commercial shoot were revealed on Thursday.

"We released the photos for fans who had been curious about Kim," said global cosmetics brand Tony Moly of the 23-year-old singer who turned up for a shoot last week.

The singer had halted all activities since early September after falling ill with the influenza flu while in Japan to promote his KBS hit TV series "Boys Over Flowers". He was discharged from the hospital with a clean bill of health but had not made a public appearance.

"We were in shoot from early morning to late at night but Kim did not seem tired and was having fun," a Tony Moly official at the scene of the shoot was quoted as saying.

The commercial is set for release in November.

Meanwhile, all five members of SS501 will perform at the Taipei Arena on Saturday. They have been on their "SS501 Asia Tour Persona 2009" since early August where they are set to perform at a total of 10 countries throughout Asia till early next year.

They are also set to make a comeback to the local music scene on October 20 with a new mini-album.

The album will be called "REBIRTH", perhaps related to their revamped image of pure charisma and sexiness. Their jacket cover was unveiled today with the official release day just around the corner, exuding a strong force through their smoky make-up. The kind and gentle Jihoo sunbae is nowhere to be found in this picture.

Meanwhile, the format of their album will also be "reborn" from the plain combination of a CD and a booklet. The limited edition will include a hundred-page flipbook style diary and a pictorial, as well as a nice poster for our beloved Triples to hang proudly on their walls.
