Hello lovely people

Did you know that there is an ant colony that lives on three continents? Seriously. There is a colony of Argentine ants that has spread to Europe and Japan, of course with some help from people. One colony spreads over 6 000 km (3 700 miles) along the Mediterranean coast. The second one extends over 900 km (560 miles) in California in the US. The third colony is in Japan. Researchers discovered that these ant colonies share a very similar of hydrocarbons in their cuticles, and they are in fact members of the same colony.

Here is the interesting part. Put ants from different colonies together and they become aggressive. Put ants from these three different colonies together, and they act like old friends. They are never aggressive towards another, and they never avoid one another. They recognise each other on the basis of the chemical composition of their cuticles.

How many families can associate with this? How many families are spread across the world and feel such strong familial bonds that they will recognise and support their relatives wherever they find them? Make the circle even closer. How many nuclear families live in the same country and find it difficult to keep contact with each other? It is even more tragic when a family live in the same town and manage to erect artificial boundaries to keep away from each other. Maybe we can learn from these ants and re-assess our own family bonds.

Do they not contact me because I do not contact them? Do I not contact them because they do not contact me? When you point a finger to them, see how many fingers point right back to you. It is interesting that whenever you have trouble with various family members, you are the common denominator in all those difficulties. And close physical contact is not the only way to keep family bonds strong. Simply thinking of people with love, wherever they are in the world, is already a step in the right direction.

Another interesting fact about ants is that they understand when we talk to them. Yes, I thought the same when I first heard that. I was told that when you have ants in your house, you can let them leave by talking to them. You use your finger to draw a line where you see the ants, and you simply tell them that it is time for them to leave because they are in danger if they stay. I tried that, and it actually worked – in two different houses, and with two different groups of ants.

To be continued.

Hello lovely people

All of these instances reflect a concept that can be explained from quantum mechanics. Fermions are entities that thrive on division and separation. Only one fermion can occupy any space at any time. Try to get two fermions closer together, and there is tension because there is a struggle to ensure that the energy field of the one fermion pushes away the energy field of the second fermion. The space needs to be defended at all costs. This space is about me, me, me.

We have in recent years seen some examples of the opposite, where people were united over the world. When war was declared against Iraq, there were protests in over 60 countries. Most of these countries were not at war with Iraq, but they joined in protest against a senseless war and for peace. That was a display of bosons, the opposite of fermions. Bosons are above time and space. Many bosons can occupy the same space at the same time, and when they do, we get a glimpse of eternity and we feel gratitude form the heart.

We got a glimpse of the power of bosons when Princess Diana died – the Royal Family stood out like a sore finger against the rest of the world that were united in mourning and in love for a person who was all too human. The world united and shared the same space in the same time, and this even neutralised the behaviour of the Royal Family who gave in and joined in the expression of Love.

Sadly the examples of division are rife, whereas the examples of unity are scarce. Our purpose on this earth is to identify this separation and division in ourselves, and to strive towards becoming One and experiencing Love. Instead we seem to be very good at creating more division about things that can only make you shake your head in amazement.

Hello lovely people

The Universe is about balance. People and this world are about division and separation. The news media show us the beautiful dance of separation on a daily basis.

For example, president Obama shows off his excellent eye-hand coordination by swatting a fly while being interviewed on television. The world is in awe of a president that can kill flies with his own hands – what was that again about small things amuse small minds? PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) are upset because a fly was killed publicly by a prominent person who thinks he is Buddha.

I recently heard a radio interview where one person complained about the blasphemous use of the name of God on television and radio. The person was quite adamant that the broadcaster had to act to root out this blasphemy which was quite offensive to Christians. Another person objected against the word blimey, because he had been told that the word originated from the expression “God blind me” and therefore the word blimey must also be blasphemous. Why is it that Christians always sound so whining when they complain about how unfairly the world treats them? Or is the bias in my ear?

Another person called in to demand freedom of speech and the right to say “Oh, my God” and Jesus whenever they please. A few more callers supported this stance because they are not Christians and see no reason to comply with the rules that Christians set for their lives.

Speaking of rules – a Jewish couple is suing their neighbours because of the installation of a light switch with motion sensors in the communal stairwell of the building that they live in. Their argument is that they are not allowed to light a fire on a Sabbath. When they step out of their flat on a Friday night and the light on the stairwell goes on, they believe it is a breach of their human rights. Apparently the problem can be resolved with a delayed circuit-breaker switch, a solution that was accepted by rabbis for a hospital in Jerusalem.

The editor of a Jewish community website said “They should not be putting the onus on their neighbours to change. It’s a bit arrogant really. It’s an embarrassment, it’s giving reasonable Jews a bad name.”

Hello lovely people

I would not be surprised if the manufacturers of various painkillers get under the spotlight soon for their “personal” contribution to the death of a person who chose to use painkillers for his own reasons.

And then of course there is the bargaining stage. This is all about control. If an autopsy provides answers that are “too much to stomach” – because we are dealing with the solar plexus chakra - what do we do? Order another autopsy, of course, so that maybe we can get the answers we want.

And given Michael Jackson’s personal history, it should be interesting to do some research to compare the tributes his memory is being showered with, with the insults he was showered with at the low points of his professional and personal life. I wonder how many of the people that distanced themselves from him in the past are now keen to pay tribute to him? That would be a typical part of the bargaining that goes with an experience like this. “If I am nice about him now, will he return and do his concerts? Will my comments from the past go unnoticed if I now say something good about him?”

This is the stage where Michael Jackson becomes an even greater icon than he could possibly have been in the past – bargaining turns an ordinary person into a larger than life person, and it will probably turn an already larger than life person into a saint even quicker than the Catholic Church can to it.

What next? Of course there will be the depression stage. We can expect to hear a lot about the opportunities that the singer (and his fans) missed, about the people that never appreciated his great talent (which will grow by the day in the minds of his fans and critics during this phase), detailed profiles on his children and what they are missing, and so on. We can expect detailed profiles on how his brothers and sisters are being depressed with grief, because there are so many people in this world that live their lives as a reflection of the life of someone else. The depression that the world will show will be based on love and a wish to understand his life and his contribution. This will come from the heart chakra.

Will there be more? Will there be a burst (or a long-lasting trickle) of creativity where performers will do their own interpretations of his songs and dance moves, or where the inevitable monument for him will be a source of conflict and frustration to many, and of victory to others? Will people voice this creativity from the throat chakra?

Will there even be a deeper understanding of his role in destroying racial and sexual stereotypes? Will people lift this mourning process to a spiritual level? Was that what the broadcaster meant when he said that he was now mourning the fourth icon in his memory (after John Lennon, Elvis Presley and Princess Diana)? Just shows you how mourning can clutter your perceptions – or did I somehow miss Princess Diana’s singing career and her creative, artistic contribution to the world?

And meanwhile Michael Jackson, no longer in a body that requires painkillers, is probably looking at the people’s reaction in astonishment and awe – from the neverland that we all came from.

Hello lovely people

It is always interesting to see how people respond to death. The reaction is often so predictable, even though people that lose a loved one believe that the experience is so unique that nobody will understand them.

Of course the latest example is the passing of Michael Jackson. The first, very predictable response was denial. When the news broke, over sixteen million people did not believe what they had heard and turned to the internet to get the right facts and confirmation. The impact was so much that for nearly half an hour Google believed that they were under attack from a computer virus or spyware application.

This denial was also confirmed in the typical responses of “I cannot believe he is gone,” “I have tickets for his concert and he was preparing for that last week,” “He cannot be gone”, “when I dealt with him he was lucid, and he never took painkillers”, and so on.

Why would people rush to confirm the death of a very public figure that was loved as much as he was despised? This is typical of the fight or flight reaction that goes with a shock to the base chakra. If they could not deny that this icon had passed on, they at least wanted to have the correct information and defend themselves.

The next typical response is anger. There have been reports about the anger of the Jackson family over the medical treatment that the singer received from the doctor that attended him. The traditional role of any medical practitioner is to know everything there is to know about the human body, and to keep the body alive against all odds. The medical practitioner is very often the first target of anger, especially when the person died. Somebody has to be responsible for the death, and accepting that the dead person chose their time, date, place and means of departing is not even an option.

A typical response from the sacral chakra is to feel anger when a relationship is severed. In this electronic world, people often feel a personal relationship with celebrities, because the most intimate details of their lives are dished up to the public to share. At this point, the focus is on finding “the person or persons unknown” that caused the death. One of the singer’s fans is even quoted as slamming the “evil people” that drove Michael Jackson to his death.

Hello lovely people

But when we get thrown into a traumatic situation, we instantly forget all those ranges of responses. We forget all the life experiences that helped us outgrow our shadow selves. We go right back to being the child that had that first experience, and we apply the same coping mechanism without even thinking. And it does not work, because you and the situation are both quite different.

Instead of having those sets of behaviour come to the rescue like the previous time, they make everything worse. And this is where you make a decision that is probably perfect for the old shadow self, but disastrous for the person you have since become.

You decide that the only way to deal with your trauma is to get rid of the environment that is to blame, and you move house to a familiar area of which you have good memories from a previous time. You wake up in a neighbourhood that has changed, among people that are quite different. You feel even lonelier than before and discover that everything you ran away from is still with you, ready to be faced when you are ready.

Or you decide to simply ignore all your emotions and get on with life. But things get worse because you develop health problems that can get quite serious. You also get into a relationship with a totally unsuitable person. It takes a while for you to realise that you have added to your problems, and then there is the task of getting out of the relationship

Or you outwardly accept blame for the entire mess and you do not tell anyone that you are so angry at some people. You lie awake at night, feeling guilty. You really feel like a victim when on top of everything you develop health problems. The easy way out is alcohol or medication, because they both dull the emotional pain – until you wake up the next day feeling rubbish, with even more guilt and anger.

Our shadow selves are very convenient when we initially use them. Later in life they are only convenient when we are able to recognise them and use them as a measure of our spiritual growth since we first needed them. The shadow selves also remind us of all the issues that we still need to deal with.

This is why traumatic situations should in fact be seen as blessings – they help us clear out the spiritual stuff that we no longer need, so that we can move on to the exciting stuff and into the Light.

Knowledge is power. When we identify our dominant shadow self (and we all have some of each in our arsenal) we are already in a strong position to confront the underlying limiting decisions and remove the barriers that we placed there for ourselves.

We can run, but we cannot hide – especially from ourselves.

Hello lovely people

Have you ever been in a position where you made a decision because you felt at the time that you had to, even though your mind was woolly and the world was unreal? I am sure you lived to not only regret that decision, but also to ask yourself “What had gotten into me when I decided that?”

And it is possible that at the time you were recently traumatised, for example being widowed, walking away from a very destructive relationship, being forced to leave a job, and so on.

Such experiences often uproot our entire existence, and turn our world upside down. While we are grasping at anything that may look like the old reality that we knew before, the world keeps turning and changing. We hold on for dear life, wishing the world would just for a moment stop turning so that we can get our footing back again.

However, the world keeps turning, and we have to make decisions about various things, from what to wear today to whether I should sell my house and move to the other side of the country.

Why is it that these decisions often turn out to be the worst we can imagine? It is probably because the decision is made by the shadow self that has taken control of the situation.

What is a shadow self? It is a far less mature self that we adopted earlier in our lives to deal with a situation that we could not cope with at the time. For example we refused to take responsibility for our actions and found somebody to blame, and at the time it worked. Remember when you were sixteen years old and stayed out too late on a date and had to face your father? Were you to blame? Of course not. It was either the boyfriend that did not want to leave on time, or the car that ran out of petrol.

Or we find that we have such strong emotions that we cannot deal with them. As a result we either stop functioning from the head down and refuse to have any emotions, or we do everything possible to distract the attention from ourselves and anything that is remotely personal. Remember when your adored parent suddenly died? You were frightened, scared, angry about being abandoned, lonely. You decided that nobody would see what a mess you are inside, and the emotional shutters went down.

Or we become doormats and accept the blame for everything, even when our logical minds say that we are not to blame. Remember when you first discovered that somebody you love is addicted to drugs or alcohol? Remember the argument where you were told “You drive me to it!” and you felt confused, hurt and wronged?

Later on we learned that all these shadow selves are temporary solutions and we discovered that in the long run it is far better to accept responsibility where appropriate. We learnt to deal with our emotions and get more perspective on situations. We develop ranges of responses and we get to choose the most appropriate response for a situation.

Hello lovely people

However, the kind of nonsense reading that I refer to is the generic bluff one that shows no understanding whatsoever of your situation or your questions. I once had such a reading from a person who told me that my love life would improve if I stop wearing navy blue. At the time I had not a single piece of navy blue clothing or even accessories in my wardrobe, and my love life was the least of my concerns. This person had all the paraphernalia, including the head scarf, gypsy earrings and crystal ball, on display and made buckets of money from gullible and vulnerable clients.

Another big concern with a reading obtained via the internet is where the reading is done for free or for a very low price, and then the reading is followed up with a series of emails demanding a ransom for your salvation. I have seen some of these emails that would scare the living daylight out of any innocent person, because they indicate that doomsday is getting closer by the minute if the recipient does not respond to any of the series of emails.

Of course the response of the recipient must be in the form of buying an expensive trinket that will bring immediate relief, or buying a “more in-depth” reading that will chase the hovering devils away at a price that is comfortable for the medium.

No earthly object can bring relief to a hurting soul. In fact, people who fall for this kind of blackmail will hurt even more, because they will part with their money under pressure and feel even worse about the space that they are in when there is no relief.

Maybe it is just the way I think, but I would rather provide a paid-for reading than provide a free reading as bait for another reading. For me, this is not only a matter of integrity i.e. giving the client what they paid for in the first place. It is also a matter of self-protection. There are thousands of people that would want a free reading, and every time you give a free reading, you also give energy away to a person that does not appreciate your gift.

I would rather do a single paid-for and comprehensive reading for a person than allow them to suck out my energy in exchange for the promise of only then giving them “the real stuff”.

And I know that it is not good internet marketing, but I believe that the quality of my readings rather than the sale of trinkets will let clients return to me.

Hello lovely people

The internet is an amazing tool for breaking down artificial boundaries such as time and space. Instant communication with a person on the other side of the world is a marvel that has brought home to us how small the world really is and how irrelevant time is in the greater scheme of things. Internet communication has also assisted in breaking down the boundaries of space, because on the web there are no space limitations.

What has this got to do with mediumship?

People who have had a glimpse of eternity understand that time and space are man-made concepts. These concepts apply on earth so that we can make sense of our environment. Once we understand this, it becomes clear how mediums and psychics can tap into the quantum soup of the unconscious and use email to convey the results to their paying clients.

Unfortunately, as with any technological development, there are always people that exploit for their own benefit.

There is nothing wrong with asking for and obtaining a psychic reading over the internet. A true psychic will (always with the permission of the client) find a link to the information that needs to be channelled to the client. Once the link has been established, the information can be conveyed via email. True, this is a one-sided conversation. The advantage is that the psychic does not have the comfort zone of asking numerous questions. They either have the link or they do not, and it is much more difficult to fake the link when you are not in a position to interpret the body language and facial expressions of the client.

I would, however, get concerned if the psychic reading is returned to me immediately (obviously machine-generated and aimed at a mass market rather than at me personally) or when I cannot associate at all with the contents of the reading.

I have had clients that would not accept any of the information I channelled to them. In those circumstances I initially doubted the information I received, but I realised over time that there are people that simply deny everything around them. This is not a justification. I have had one client (over a period of more than 15 years) for whom I was unable to give any reading at all. I told her the truth and gave her money back. I have had a few clients that rejected everything I said to them, but their comments and responses then clearly indicated that I was far too close to the truth for their comfort.

Hello lovely people

And how about the people who had no idea how food got from their innocent hands to their greedy mouths? When they eventually figured out that they actually had control over both their hand and their mouths, they decided to sue the fast food providers for putting temptation in their way by providing fast food.

And of course there are the smokers who are suing the cigarette companies for making them get into their cars, drive to a shop, buy a pack of cigarettes with a death warning on it, and smoke the cigarettes one after the other. Is there some secret, hidden button that the cigarette companies and fast food providers install in people? Or do these people simply have no idea that they have brains to help them think and take responsibility for themselves?

The latest classic is a group of over a thousand students from the University of Sydney, Australia, that call themselves “I want to sue Facebook if I fail university”. These students go to a library so that they can study. Then there is a voice from a computer that demands they switch it on and log in to Facebook. Once they have logged in, they have to check all their invitations, the latest gossip and photographs of people they hardly know. When that is done, the computer forces these poor students to play a game where they exchange poker chips for cigars, and then to update their movements for the next ten minutes with either cryptic or blatant messages depending on their level of intelligence. But this is not the computer’s fault – the computer is simply a pawn in the hands of that mastermind called Facebook. And the poor students get worse and worse grades because they are the victims here.

No wonder we end up with governments that tell us what the ideal weight of our rubbish bins are and on what day of the week a Sunday roast is best served for recycling purposes. We hand our inner control over to anyone that can relieve us any decision making,

What is the solution to this? More medication for constipation, indigestion, ulcers, irritable bowel syndrome and other stomach dis-eases. We forget that the centre of control is the solar plexus chakra. We are not aware of the extent to which our energy is drained out of our systems when we hand control over our lives and decisions to other people.

Now I am going to run down the street in high heels. I may slip and break a leg, but I will simply sue somebody for approving the layout of the town and building the road two hundred years ago. Oh, and I will sue the council for not putting up signs to say one should not run down a cobbled street in high heels. Hey, that is how the world works. It’s not my fault.
