10 Reasons Myrtle Beach Can Compete

After reading some articles on Yahoo.com, MSN.com, and other sites about beach real estate and bargains, I noticed that they only ever seem to mention places that are more commonly known as vacation hot spots by everyone. It seems that whenever articles are written about the vacation homes or second homes market as a whole they are really only speaking about the most commonly known places like Florida and California. It makes it sound like there aren’t too many other places to find vacation homes or even bargains on real estate on the beach. This isn’t the case. Look at the difference between other vacation home and resort markets and the Myrtle Beach real estate market. Below are ten reasons why Myrtle Beach can compete with the more commonly known resort areas:

1. Real estate taxes are much higher in other resort markets when compared to Myrtle Beach.

2. The Travel Channel ranked Myrtle Beach as one of the top 10 best beaches in 2007. This put Myrtle Beach with other luxurious vacation spots like Maui, Hawaii and South Beach, Florida.

3. We were noticed as one of the most children friendly beaches by the Travel Channel as well.

4. For those people that enjoy walking along the beach, we were ranked high for our large beach area which includes a 60 mile stretch of white sand.

5. Myrtle Beach has over 100 golf courses to choose from.

6. Golf Digest ranked Myrtle Beach number one in golf home communities in the US. They mentioned that our reasonable prices and an average of 290 playable days a year is what ranked us the highest.

7. With the high inventory counts there are definitely some real bargains. Especially, with the interest rates where they are.

8. We have the new Market Commons in South Myrtle Beach which has a complimentary mix of retail, restaurant, residential, hotel, and parking—bringing together the best ideas in land use and urban planning to create a beautifully designed pedestrian-friendly lifestyle center. There will also be 29 acres of lakes, new community parks and four miles of new roads, all contiguous to the newly expanded Myrtle Beach airport.

9. Myrtle Beach bike week brings in hundreds of thousands of visitors a year. There are actually three bike weeks in Myrtle Beach: one for summer bike week, following that is Atlantic Beach bike week, and then there is a fall bike week.

10. We have around 14 million visitors total each year to enjoy all the amenities that Myrtle Beach offers.

As Winter Storm Warnings flash across the weather channels on a mid-February day, the excitement of spring has now been taken over by the anticipation of an inch of snow! The non expectant weather report is actually calling for a snow accumulation of two to four inches…that’s enough to be getting excited about here in the south! Myrtle Beach is excited to finally have the best of both worlds, winter on a white beach!
