It seems like everyone has been talking about Google+ lately, a new social networking conglomerate developed by the giant Internet search engine Google. Although the platform is still in its field trial stage and is available by invitation only, there is already a large buzz about the product. So, what makes Google+ different from Facebook, the current most popular social networking site?

Through its three main features – Circles, Hangouts, and Sparks, Google+ differentiates itself because it

1) Gives the user more privacy by allowing him or her to be in full control of what is shared

2) Has a group video chat feature

3) Allows the user to uncover content rather than purely share content

For the Facebook crowd at large who is unfamiliar with Google+, here is a quick glimpse into the nuts and bolts of the new site.

The Stream

Once you get the invite, (the word is that there are currently tens of millions of users, so ask around – chances are you probably know someone who is using it) just sign in with your Gmail, Picassa, or Youtube account. You are then prompted to create your personal profile, which consists of a profile picture, introduction, education, employment, places lived, etc.

On the home screen, there is a GChat bar on the left side and a black bar at the top of the page that connects with Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Photo, Reader, and Web. Below this, there are four tabs that are quite similar to Facebook: Home, Photos, Profile, and Circles. The vast majority of the screen is taken up by a live news feed with comment and +1, or the “like”, capability of your Circles’s activities. But wait – what exactly is this “Circles” mechanism that keeps being referred to?

Circles

One of the three main features of Google+ is Circles. Circles allow you to sort your contacts into groups, including but not limited to friends, family, acquaintances, and following (like Twitter). Ever go through your 1000+ Facebook friends and not know who certain people are and how you met them? Have no fear – Google+ will keep your contacts organized.

Additionally, Circles allows you to easily share posts and pictures with only a specific group of people. There is also the option of adding friends without a Google+ account to a circle, in which they will receive your posts via email. By giving the user control of essentially every post shared, Google+ can be as private or public as you want it to be.

Hangouts

The Hangout tool is a video chat function. After downloading Google’s Voice and Video Installer, you have the capability to create a Hangout and invite up to ten people in your network to chat. Rather than planning Skype sessions in advance, Google+ posts that you are “hanging out” in the live stream and gives others the chance to jump in. Another appealing feature of Hangouts is the ability for Groups to watch Youtube videos or movies together.

An analogous application to Hangouts, the Huddle feature allows users to group chat through text. This can be useful for creating plans for the night or making decisions on a work related project.

Sparks

Sparks allows you to not only share content, but also to discover it. By typing your interests into the Sparks page that appears in your sidebar, you can stumble external sites that are of importance to you. Generally, these include current articles, videos, and other relevant content. Specifically, when I clicked on Recipes, which is one of the current featured interests, I was directed to “Foodmakers May Change Recipes to Cut Fat for Fare Advertised to Children,” “New Restaurant Shares a New Blueberry Pie Recipe,” and more. You can also share your favorite links from Sparks–and from anywhere on the web for that matter – onto your Wall.

More on Google+

Similar to other social media sites, Google+ is available for those on the go. The native mobile app currently is available for the Android, but the web app is accessible for all smartphones, and SMS is coming soon.

It is still undecided when Google+ will be fully available to the public, for Google+ representatives have stated, “How long the testing phase lasts, and how the product evolves, will really depend on how it goes. We don’t have a set amount of time” (Google+ Press Site).

How To Make A Group On Facebook

These steps will tell you how to make a group on Facebook. After logging into Facebook go to your Home Page. You will see a small image of your profile picture on the left. Under this is a listed series of options. Click the option in the list called Create Group.

A new window will pop up. This window has two boxes titled Group Name and Members followed by a Privacy Settings menu. In the Group Name box is a small icon. Clicking on this reveals a menu of additional icons. Select the icon you want. In the box next to it type in your groups name. It's important to use keywords and phrases in the name when you make a group on Facebook so that your group will show up in the search engines.

In the Members box type in the beginning of a friends name you want to invite. Facebook will search for friends as you type. A list of names from your friends list matching the letters you've entered will appear. Using this list you can quickly select friends you want to add as members of your group.

Then select your Privacy Settings from the following options: Open, Closed, or Secret. These different options determine what information is kept private and what is made public. An Open privacy setting allows other people on Facebook to see your members and group pages content. Closed privacy makes content private, and Secret privacy makes content and members private. Afterwards, select the Create button.

Another window will pop up. Click the Okay button. You will go to your groups main page. Click the Edit Group button at the top right. This will redirect you to the Basic Information page.

Under your groups name and a list of its members is a line called Email Address. Select the option to Set up Group Email and type an email address into the pop-up window. All members will get a copy of any message sent to this email address. Then click the Create Email option. You will be redirected to the Basic Information page.

On the Basic Information page is the Description box. In this box, type information that you want others to know about your group. Anyone will be able to see this information unless your privacy setting has been set to Secret. Then select the Back to Group button at the top right hand corner of the screen. This will take you back to the groups main page. On the top right of this page is an Edit Settings button. Click on this button.

A window will pop up. A drop-down menu allows you to set your preferences for alerts. Alerts can be sent to you when anyone comments or posts on your group page. They will be sent to the email address you provided for your Facebook account unless you click on the blue Edit Your Notifications Settings link. Clicking this will allow you to provide a different email.

Then select home navigation settings and decide whether or not you want to be sent group chat messages. Click on the Save Settings button.

6 Steps To Success

In this issue, I want you to focus on your goals and what you'd like to achieve in life. Big picture stuff.
We'll get to the good parts soon, but it's important to set the scene -- to clearly see what you want -- before putting any work into it.

First of all, think about this question...
What does the word "success" really mean to you?
To me, it's being able to do what I love. I love writing. I got up at 5 a.m. to write this first lesson. I saw it all very clearly in my mind...what I wanted to say and how I was going to say it.

Do you recognize the feeling?

To me, passion is valuable. And I'm a bit extreme: I spend huge portions of my time focusing on doing the things I love to do, whether or not I get paid for it.

That's success for me.

Think about it for a while. How do you value your time?

Now, that's all fine, but the important thing is this:
True success and freedom is about time, money, and fulfillment.

In my study of people who have a knack for success, I've noticed something. They make the best choice at the best time. And they appear in the right place at the right time. How do they know how be in position to find success They all use some essential success principles.

Their use of these principles is almost automatic. It is hard-wired into their nervous system. It is reflexive. It is an aspect of their subconscious programming.

No doubt many principles create success: but these few were always present.

Study and use them. See what they do for you.

1. Ask the right question

Thinking is asking and answering questions in your own mind. The quality of your thinking arises from the quality of your questions. If you want to be wealthy, do you ask--"why am I broke?" or do you ask--"how can be a millionaire in less than five years?"

In the first question, you asked why. And in the second question, you asked how. This automatically directed you to making the first question negative and the second question positive. When you ask why questions, you try to solve a problem. When you ask how questions, you look for a solution.

2. Create a vision

When you ask good questions, you create a vision. A vision is a leap of the imagination. Usually, you witness something that impresses you. You ask if you can be that way, do that thing, and have what the other person has.

This vision moves you into the future. It will get you up earlier in the morning. It will keep you working at your project longer and harder. And it will be the force that nudges you when an average person would have quit.

3.Act with faith

Once you have a vision, you have to act on it. This action, however, springs from belief.

There are two parts to belief. Do you believe that your vision is possible? Do you believe that you can do it?

Belief is an act of faith. It is choosing to do? what you have never done before. And while a vision is a leap of the imagination, belief is a stretch of emotion. Can you feel inspired in the absence of evidence? Can you believe in the evidence of something that will be?

4.Find allies

If you can see it and if you can believe it, you can have it. To see it and believe it is to set it into motion. It is to invite a new possibility for yourself. Now, your next step, is to find allies. Success is a cooperative effort. It rarely happens in isolation. True, you can create something all alone, but it really takes on meaning when it enriches the lives of others.

Since life is hard, most people are negative. They have been hurt or disappointed. Their point of view is oppositional. They seek control, approval, and comfort. And they shun risk, novelty, and discomfort. Thus, finding good allies is not easy. However, they do exist. There are people who have crossed the line between making a living and designing a life. Choose these people as your allies.

5.Take massive action

The next and most obvious thing to do is to take action. This requires a commitment to action. A commitment means that you will do it regularly. It also means that you will not quit at the first sign of opposition. It is an act of deciding to persist before persistence becomes necessary. It also means that you will continually adapt your strategy until you overcome the limitations of knowledge and resources with which you will initially start out.

6.Focus on what you love

With all this in place, passion will come easily. You will actually start to have fun. Your life will become a big adventure. Your emotions will press you forward even when your mind and body have fatigued. Over time, you will do what today seems almost impossible. You will stun and amaze yourself and others. You will find yourself in a new and strange land, where you are the master craftsman and the creator of a beautiful reality.

When you ask the right question, create a vision, act with faith, find allies, take massive action, and focus on what you love, you'll begin the process of taking the right steps to achieving your dream lifestyle. Wouldn't it be amazing to walk into a life you love ?

Facebook is launching many new game platforms. This member has recently incorporated the ideas of other games, yet bring a fresh new look to a different world. Your territory becomes unfriendly soil where your neighbors can either visit and help, or just as equally bomb the living daylights out of your properties.

Taking turns bombing each other isn’t the only thing that you can do. Earn reputation, honor, infamy and allies that will help you get through missions. In every Facebook social game there are masters. The people who are masters may spend a lot of their time playing the game, but not necessarily on their own, as playing by yourself is a lot more time consuming when your main aim is to be the best.

The REAL masters of Facebook games know the tricks, techniques, and yes, the secrets. When it comes to levelling in ANY Facebook game, the best thing to do is to play with neighbours. The real masters play with their neighbours, and receive a lot of gifts and have many neighbours.

To get neighbours you will have to search on Facebook for groups such as "Empires & Allies Neighbours". Pages like this will allow you to go on the wall and post "ADD ME". This will lead to a lot of people who play the game to add you. The page where you can post is called the discussion page. However, it is important that you are on the FIRST page, otherwise people won't look for you!

Start a new topic saying something simple, such as "ADD ME" on each group and page for Empires & Allies; this will soon allow you to have the key advantage to success... having lots of neighbours. Within 2 hours, this method worked so well that it got me 150 friends. Each and every one of these new friends wanted to be neighbours on Empires & Allies. In order to do anything from picking a job to picking a fight you need to maintain your health, energy and stamina. You need your health to stay alive in fights and to avoid getting knocked down from a sucker punch. You’ll need your energy to complete jobs and should you get nabbed by the cops to break out of jail! You’ll need stamina to keep fighting. Earn cash and experience by performing jobs and picking fights! You need experience points to move up to the next level and become a more powerful criminal.

Hit List
Check here to find out who’s got a bounty on their head, and make sure you’re not one of them! A successful hit will earn you a nice cash reward. Keep in mind being a bounty hunter will earn you easy cash, but every other mafia will be able to view the same Marked Men – first come, first served. You can place a mark on most players in your same level range from their Mafia profile as long as you’ve got the stamina and the money to pay out for a bounty.

Properties
Real estate is a great way to earn quick, steady and reliable cash and street credit. Owning properties is where the real cash is at! Properties generate recurring income that can be used to finance your criminal activates. The more properties you own, the more money will continue to roll in.

The Bank
The streets are rough, and rival mafias are everywhere. You can safe guard your cash at the bank, but after laundering and the bank’s cut, you’ll lose about 10%. But better lose it to the bank than on the streets because during fights, you can’t lose money you have in the bank!

The Godfather
Any made man knows that when you need a little help, you go to The Godfather. He’ll make you an offer you can’t refuse. The Godfather can assist you by rise quickly through the ranks by giving you cash, energy or more members power up your mafia fast. You can help The Godfather out by donating or filling out offers. Do you always find yourself constantly losing every fight? Have you ever wonder why other players manage to recruit so many mafias? How did they get the special loots? Find your answers all over here.

1. Recruit massive players instantly by joining mafia wars group in Facebook. To find these groups, type "mafia wars" in the Facebook search on the right hand corner.

2. Buy properties in bulk. If you buy one at a time, you end up paying more. Don't believe? Try it and do some calculations.

3. Buy weapons from limited edition loots. It's often cheap and good! Buy weapons which require no upkeep to keep your expenses low. E.g. Bullet Proof Vest instead of Body Armor which requires an upkeep of $400.

4. Max all the job tiers to unlock the bonus items.

5. Deposit your money after you earn money so that your money won't get stolen.

6. If your friend (Friends you just added from the big mafia group) you add doesn't have the invite status message. Try replacing the zero with their id from this "http://apps.Facebook.com/inthemafia/status_invite.php?from=00000000"

Get your friend id by visiting their profile, copy the digits after the id= E.g. http://www.Facebook.com/profile.php?id=xxxxxxxxx copy xxxxxxxxx and paste to this http://apps.Facebook.com/inthemafia/status_invite.php?from=xxxxxxxxxx in your browser and enter! There you go, you have added your friend in mafia wars.

7. Too many mafia friends in your friend list? Create a friend list and collate all the mafia friends into that list. It would be neater that way and you can't help your mafia friends when they request for help out in game, unless they're in your friend list.

8. Join the mafia mailing list to receive limited time items, rewards, updates, offers!

9. Collect all the collectible so that you can unlock hidden stats point from the Collection & Vaults section.

Social Networking - Do You Use It?

I hear a lot about social networking sites these days. It can get very overwhelming just figuring out where to spend your time, how much time to spend, and how to use the sites for business networking as opposed to personal networking. Let me chime in on the sites I use most and why.

LinkedIn - LinkedIn.com

I believe LinkedIn, in my opinion, is the most formal of the social networking sites. Basically, you post your profile on the site, and invite people to join your network. There is a standard email you can send to people you know, which you can personalize. If the person you ask to join your network accepts, he or she becomes one of your "connections." You then have access to any of their "connections." The only caveat is that in order to network with the people listed in their "connections,' you need to ask the person you originally connected with to introduce you. If all goes well and this third person agrees, you can then network with this person, and possibly be connected to he or she as well.

There are various groups set up on LinkedIn, such as e-Biz and the International Association of Solopreneurs. The purpose of these groups is to share and have discussions. If you are so inclined, you can even start your own group.

I find that LinkedIn is great if you are looking for a job in the corporate world, or trying to find someone you either went to school with or worked with in the past. Other than that, I personally don't find much more value in it, except for networking within the various groups.

Twitter - Twitter.com

This site is by far the easiest to use, since there is not much to it. Its main purpose is for you to answer the question "What are you doing?" in 140 characters or less. If you are new to social networking, this might be the best place for you to start.

Once you set up your account, let others know what you are up to by answering the question. Then you can find people to "follow," who in turn can then "follow" you. This is a fun way to keep up-to-date with your friends, but what about your business contacts? Well, you can share links, send them direct messages, and share quick tidbits about your business.

When you set up your profile on Twitter, it appears in a small box on the right-hand side of the screen. What others will see when they go to your profile:

* Name
* Location
* Web
* Bio

Make sure to highlight your business in your short bio, if you are trying to attract business networking partners instead of personal! While I like the quick, no-nonsense approach to networking on this site, my all-time favorite is Facebook.

Facebook is loaded with bells and whistles, and you can post just about anything on your profile. Among other things, you can:

* share links
* post videos
* post events
* post photos
* join groups
* find friends and business colleages
* add applications (personal or business-related, based on your interests)
* link to your Twitter, Facebook and other accounts

There is so much to do in Facebook, I sometimes get overwhelmed. But it's so much fun keeping up with what my friends and clients are up to! I find this is a great place to catch up, and usually spend fifteen minutes or more a day on the site. If someone posts about something I want to comment about, I can put a comment right underneath it. I can write on my friends' walls, and wish them a Happy Birthday when their special day comes along. I can even add a signup box to my profile, so that people who find me can sign up for my ezine if they're interested.

All of these sites are free to join, and I encourage you to join at least one if you are serious about networking online. It's the wave of the future. There is so much to share online these days, so why not get involved by jumping on the bandwagon?
