How to Use Your Blog to Recruit

Not all that long ago in our regularly
scheduled "Inner Circle" no holds barred
q and a session we discussed the proper
use of blogging to recruit and enhance
your home business. Make no mistake
blogging is extremely powerful as a
business building tool "if" used
properly, here's how to do it
right . . .

One of the biggest mistake I see people
making in their blogging efforts is
"why" they use them. Most people tend to
think of blogging as a primary traffic
generation strategy, and it can be, but
it's not THE best use of a blog in our
type of business.

You should think of blog traffic more
like icing on the cake. The primary and
MOST powerful use of starting and using
a blog in your business is it's ability
to create a powerful testimonial for
you. Let me explain . . .

When I started my first successful
business here's exactly what I did. On
an almost daily basis I blogged about
something relating to my business, at
the top of that blog I would always note
the number of people in our team, and
then carry on with the message.

Sometimes if I had new recruits I would
create a formal blog welcome to my new
team mates by listing their names and
welcoming them to the team.

If there was a co-op, advertising
strategy that was working well for me,
you better bet I put in on that blog.

Why? Well, I haven't told you how I used
my blog to recruit yet (we'll get to
that in a second), but along with using
a blog to recruit I also constantly
referred my team members there for any
and all updates on our business.

It was a central meeting point. As a
result my team always checked the blog
to see what was going on in our
business. This was important for two
reasons:

First, easy access to important current
information pertaining to our team, and
second as team wide social proof.

They came to the blog and saw the number
of people on the team growing and
welcome messages to our new team members
and subconsciously it helped raise their
belief level about the business they
were in.

It's sometimes easy for a new recruit to
get discouraged without encouragement
and the blog helped give them that
encouragement they needed. As a result
they "believed" in the business, and
took more proactive action to go out and
do what we were doing to grow which
translated into a higher rate of
duplication in the business and longer
retention.

So let's recap so far, we've got a blog
where we're blogging about our team,
what we're doing to advertise, we're
"training" our team members to check the
blog often for advice and encouragement
and as a result their using that
motivation to go out and build. This
causes the team to grow faster,
stronger, and better.

What do we have? That sounds like a
pretty darn powerful testimonial to me.
And that's the primary use of the blog
as far as recruiting is concerned as I
mentioned earlier.

The mistake most people make is they
want to blog for traffic, which you can
do, and I'll share a few tips to doing
that better in a few, but not it's best
use for recruiting. Here's how to use
your blog to recruit . . .

I'd generate leads directly to my own
lead capture page or my company's lead
capture page. Once I saw my lead opt in
I would send them a personal email to
tell them a little bit about myself, our
team, and our business. In that email I
would always include a link to my blog
so my prospects could get an inside look
at who I and our team was doing.

This is powerful as heck for a couple
reasons where recruiting is concerned.

First, people are inherently
voyeuristic. They wanna spy, so let
them. By sending my prospects to my blog
they now had the opportunity to get to
know me and my team without me even
being there. As a result, when we did
have an email correspondence or they
called me they already knew me.

I've always found this to be a MUCH
better option than cold calling leads. I
let them get to know me first.

Second reason this is powerful is based
on a principle called "The Power Of
Documentation" which states we as humans
tend to take things which we read as
more truthful than things we just hear.

In other words, a prospect who goes to
your blog and reads about you and your
team is going to take what they read
there at face value where if you're on
the phone telling them the same thing
they're most likely saying "Yeah right"

If you've ever called leads and had that
question come up of "Well why should I
join you?" Having and sending your
prospects to your blog first will
virtually eliminate this objection and
ignite powerful curiosity and intrigue
about you and what you do.

So, when it comes to using a blog to
recruit, it's best us is as a secondary
traffic strategy. You get the lead, then
you send them to your blog for a
powerful testimonial.

So I can hear the question welling up
"What should I put on my blog to start?"
Simple, talk about yourself, your
company's products and service, why you
love your company, your team, AND here's
a key . . .

Ask your upline or downline to write you
a quick note about why it's great to
work with you and put it on your blog.

You do that, and you've covered all your
bases. Not only are your prospects
learning about you, why you like what
you do, your personality, your team, BUT
they're also SEEING other people saying
great things about you. Third party
validation about you is a powerful
thing.

Simply doing this and nothing else, I
was surprised to see that after about
six months of consistent blogging my
blog received about 300 site views per
day from people finding online via
search engines. I did nothing but blog,
but just because I had content on the
blog I had tons of people finding it for
free, and as a result, calls out of the
blue from people saying "yeah I found
your blog, what's up with your business"
(kinda cool)

So let me share a few things you can do
to improve you search engine rankings
for you blog posts to enhance your free
traffic.

First, do a little keyword research
using the Google Keyword tool. Find a
few keywords related to business and use
those keywords in your blog title, and a
few times, along with a few synonyms for
that main keyword in your blog post.

One secret strategy that's really
increased my blog traffic personally is
using images in my blog.

On blog posts where I insert an image to
correspond to the blog post keyword I
tend to get about double the traffic. So
find a few images related to your blog
post keyword.

Name those images as your main keyword,
for instance if my blog post was based
on the keyword "internet network
marketing" then then I would find 3
images I could use for that keyword and
I would name the images:

internet-network-marketing1.jpg,
internet-network-marketing2.jpg,
internet-network-marketing3.jpg
etc.

Search engines rank you based on how
many other websites link to your post
related to your keywords, so when you
create a new blog post, write an article
with the same keyword and submit it to
the major article directories with a
link going back to your main blog post.

Find a few other blogs in the niche and
comment on a few post and link back to
your blog post.

Create a facebook, twitter, myspace,
squidoo account and post some content
based on the keyword and link those back
to your blog post.

You do that for you blog and you're
ahead of 99% of marketers.

So now that we've got traffic down,
let's talk about $$$, how do you make
money with your blog? I think the
simplest way to make money with blog
from the outset is to simply add Google
Adsense to each blog post, not so much
because you'll make a ton of cash from
it, but when people do click on your
Google Adsense ads on your blog you'll
make a few bucks which is powerful
positive reinforcement for your efforts
in the early going.

It'll fuel you forward. You'll see money
coming in and you'll get excited.

The best long term way to make money
with your blog though is . . .

Integrating your blog with your email
marketing efforts. I love using the one
two punch of email marketing and
blogging because it allows you to change
the dynamic of your email messages to
your prospects from a one way
conversation to a two way conversation
by giving your prospects the ability to
comment back to you.

Getting people involved and commenting
on your blog is a powerful way to build
trust. Think of your blog as a
conversation and you'll see the bond
between you and your prospects growing
stronger daily and for it your income
will increase.

There are two powerful benefits of
turning your emails into a blog
conversation.

The first is simply when people get
involved and proactively comment they've
taking a powerful step into your world.
The second benefit is a little more
sneaky, but extremely powerful.

Say you send a prospect to your blog to
share an important post today and 15
people comment on that post. Great!

Well what if you take the email that you
sent people to your blog and add it to
your auto responder?

Now the leads that join your list 3
months from now will get that email
automatically via your autoresponder
email sequence you set up and when they
get to the post not only are they going
to get to participate in a conversation
you set up on autopilot, but they'll
also see all the people that commented
prior and say . . .

"Wow! I just got this email and 15
people already comment there must be a
lot of people listening in." and hence
conclude you're a good teacher and
someone a LOT of people listen to.

AUTISM: Why Acting Quickly On Your Child's Behalf Is Essential - And How To Do It Now

As incidences of childhood Autism increase, experts are warning parents to act swiftly in the event of early indications in order to ensure the best possible outcome for their children.

According to a new report released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the number of children diagnosed with Autism in the United States has increased by an alarming 78% in the last ten years.

Where previously only 1 in 110 American children was diagnosed as being on the Autistic Spectrum, the latest data indicates that 1 in 88 now has some form of Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

At the current population level, it is estimated that 1,000,000 children in the United States is on the spectrum.

When questioned on the reason for this startling increase, Autism experts have suggested that better diagnoses, a broader definition of the disorders that make up 'Autism' and increased awareness of ASDs account for around 50% of the newly diagnosed cases.

However, that still leaves 50% of cases unaccounted for, which places ASD on an 'epidemic' level in the United States.

While the increasing rates of Autism diagnoses vary according to gender and ethnic background, one thing is clear: symptoms typically appear before the age of three and need to be recognised as early as possible to ensure the best possible outcome for the child in question.

As Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder that typically leads to impaired language, communication and social skills, early intervention helps to give children the best chance of a positive outcome.
Sandra Arntzen M.Ed., who works as an Educational, Behavioral and Social Skills Educator for children with Autism, had this to say about early intervention:

"When a parent or carer hears the news that their child has Autism, it's completely normal for that person to experience a wide range of contrasting emotions: anything from fear, confusions, resentment, bereavement or even guilt.

"While these feelings are completely natural, it's important that the parent or carer puts them to one side as early as possible and focuses on the needs of their child. There is every reason to be hopeful about the future of a child with Autism, as long as the appropriate support is started early."

Dr Thomas Frieden, Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, agrees:

"Early detection is associated with better outcomes. The earlier kids are detected, the earlier they could get services, and the less impairment they'll have on their learning and in their lives on a long-term basis is our best understanding."

Anna and her husband, Tom, started to notice some changes in their son's behaviour when he was 15 months old. Harry, who had previously been a contented and chatty toddler, began struggling to calm himself after tantrums and started fixating on the position of the toys in his nursery, throwing screaming fits if they weren't arranged in a certain way.

He started to reject physical affection and became withdrawn, talking only when he needed to and avoiding eye contact.

While they dreaded the diagnosis, Anna and Tom took Harry to see a pediatric specialist on the recommendation of their personal physician. After conducting a large number of tests, she confirmed that Harry was suffering from Autism.

"So many emotions ran through us", says Anna. "Fear, anger, confusion and, more than anything, guilt: we felt so guilty that we hadn't been able to protect Harry from this condition."

Following a strict behavioral program that is tailored to his specific needs and abilities, Harry is now showing significant progress in terms of his communication and social skills, and is demonstrating an increased awareness of how to manage his emotions in situations that he finds challenging.

And, while at first Anna and Tom struggled to come to terms with the diagnosis, they are pleased that Harry was diagnosed relatively early.

Most Autism diagnoses in the United States are still made when the child is between four and five years old. At this stage, the child's brain is substantially more developed more of the 'hard-wiring' has been put in place and entrenched habits are harder to change.

Possible signs

A child with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder may:

- Repeat actions or motions over and over again, such as rocking back and forth or tapping their hand or foot.

- Avoid direct eye contact and prefer not to have hugs and kisses.

- Not respond when people speak to them, but respond to other sounds around them.

- Not look at objects when someone points to them.

While there is no known way to prevent occurrences of Autism in children, it does seem that early intervention is the single agreed method of ensuring the most positive outcome.

Once a diagnosis is made, it is important for carers and parents to adhere to a structured behavioral program to give their child the best chance of improvement.

Internet Marketing Alligator?

This is not a joke with a punchline or a fancy product name...

Well that day has come and the window for the "hobbyist" is closing. Now

big business is laughing at us saying "HAHAHA these little guys have no

clue how to run a real business"

Think about it...

Do you think Google gives a crap that we are crying about Adwords rules

when Best Buy, Dell, Tylenol, Amazon, Staples, Macy's, and Nordstroms

are buying ads from them?

I have friends who are spending $2,000/day on ads and they still get slapped

because who cares about $1million a year when you make $20mil a month from

the big boys?

But thats not "nice" we say...

Let's not forget that we're talking about "business" which is one ingredient

away from full on war (business is war without violence).

This is just part of the evolution of the Internet and it's happened to every

other marketing medium ever created. To survive evolution you have to

adapt your strategies.

Do you think the alligator survived millions of years of evolution without

any change at all? No way!

The first cousins of the crocs and gators actually used to sprint on two legs

and were suspected to be plant eaters. They were 8 - 13 feet long and about

1,000lbs.

Then the big dinosaurs came and they couldn't compete on land so they fled

to the water and grew bigger. The next evolution of crocs and gators were

40ft long and weighed over 10 tons.

They evolved from being overrun and outsized by dino's to EATING THEM!

I can't do your thinking for you, but where can you go that big business

hasn't yet caught on too? Can you go there, get big and fat, then come back

and eat your big business competitors?

If Adwords is crowded could you find another traffic network?

If blogging is crowded could you start a Youtube channel or Podcast?

LESSON #2: Durability & Efficiency

Let's not play patty cake... Times are hard!

Divorces, layoffs, and bankruptcy are common stories. It's tough and it's

scary but you've got to become like the gator.

Put on your thick skin, roll with the punches, and keep fighting. Sometimes

it's not about the size of the dog in the fight. Instead it's about the size

of the fight in the dog.

I know that's sooo cliche, but isn't it true?

Does the fat champion sometimes fall to the lean and hungry challenger?

Take one day a week to look at your business from the outside thinking

about how you can make it more durable and efficient.

Are their areas that you are weak in? Can you erase them from the plan

totally and keep moving forward? Are there time drains that you can get

rid of?

For example I was trying to blog daily because thats what my competitors

do and they are beating me because of it. But they are bigger than me and

I cannot compete on that front.

But if I backup and write one REALLY awesome blog post every once in

awhile and focus on driving ALOT of people to that post, then I can start

competing against my competitors who have spread themselves thin.

Another example...

My email subscriber list is tiny compared to my competitors, but my open

rates and click through rates are unheard of.

That's precisely how I'm able to compete against the largest gurus in IM

on the JV leaderboards. Their lists are bigger but mine is more responsive!

How can you become more durable and efficient?

LESSON #3: Rule The Food Chain

----------------------------------------------

Everyone has a weakness...

Even the mighty Nile Crocodile can be captured and killed by humans

if the human takes advantage of the Crocs weaknesses.

If the human tried swimming in the Nile river naked with no weapons

he would be eaten alive. But when we wait on land with nets and disarm

the croc with rope around it's snout... WE EAT THE CROC!

So what, if there is someone bigger and better than you.

I promise you they have a weakness...

Back in my Joomla days my biggest competitors had more credibility

than I did and they had a lot more content then I did. They had been

around for years before me.

But they were selling written instructions for a visual process. When I

came in with video instructions they had to play catch up to me. Today

they all sell video instructions like I was.

Remember this lesson... Pioneers get the arrows, settlers get the land

For example...

The iPod wasn't the first MP3 player, it was the better MP3 player!

And it didn't matter that Apple was a struggling company going into a

brand new market against established competitors.

LESSON #4: Focus On What Matters

Start by doing a business and digital media strategy and look at ways in which you'll start to build an audience. Do you start a blog first? Do you jump on Facebook and MySpace or do you start using Twitter and on what network sites do you create a profile.

How do you declare your brand identity? Remember, you should be focused on how you and your team help other people, being the business to call when requiring a service or product and raising the profile of you and your business on the web.

The first step, is create accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and YouTube. Check in and see where you fit in to the community, upload or add all of your contacts into Facebook and start a routine of regularly adding "friends" to your page.

The goal is to get your personal contacts engaged and to start to follow and engaging with other local businesses. Also, build a schedule so that you can allocate time each week to this, otherwise you will find yourself becoming overwhelmed with trying to keep up with all the conversations that happen.

As you become more familiar with the sites you learn that Linkedin or Twitter may not be for you, that's fine, at least you are now more informed than you where when you started.

You are learning, next you can start to build your blog, your blog web site is your central hub with all roads leading to it, and everything you do should be designed to get people to your blog and interacting with you on your territory.

It's great to have a Facebook page but even better when you have both working for you; you are in a win win situation.

Remember, with your blog comes responsibility, you'll need to add content to it regularly and this takes time, so you should allocate at least 2+ hours a week.

Use the same strategy for all the social network sites you use. Allocate time each week in your plan to update your sites and remember it's about engaging your community not only about promoting your latest product.

niche, a product or a price point is, "How much does my
customer have to spend?" Never underestimate the fatness of
a wallet or depths of a purse. There are customers
dedicated to spending top dollar for luxury consumer goods.
There are businesses that need premium solutions to nagging
problems. In other words, there are rich buyers out there
that need to spend a lot of money. Make sure you don't
neglect them!

This can be a hard lesson to learn, especially for the
person who wants to try Internet Marketing as a way to make
a few extra dollars every month. It's just beyond the
imagination of a person who's always running out of money
before running out of month! If you're broke, don't assume
that your best customers will be, too. Try thinking in
terms of having plenty of money and wanting to use it to
get more leisure and luxury.

Perhaps the best place for a hard-working neophyte to start
making money online is to do all the really nasty, boring,
mind-numbing chores that a rich person doesn't want to do.
By offering products or services that automate chores or
allow you to directly serve someone's needs on a regular
basis, you can make a very good living. All you have to do
is list all the things you'd pay someone else to do, if
money was no problem. Then go see who's offering goods and
services like that online and figure out a way to do the
same, with your own Unique Selling Point.

Luxury goods are another way to really make a nice profit
on just a few sales. Designer sunglasses that sell for more
than a thousand dollars a pair are more attractive to sell
than more than 100 pairs of $10 sunglasses. You may think
that paying all that money just for sunglasses is crazy. So
what? Isn't it more important to think in terms of what
your customer wants?

Now think about all the businesses out there that need
goods or services. They're making a profit, they have a
budget to spend - and you could be their "go to" source for
whatever they may need. All you have to do is identify the
really expensive things they use, use up and have to
replace. How hard can that be?

This "rich market" is a fairly small percentage, compared
to all the buyers online. The thing is, they spend almost
three times the percentage of money that regular consumers
spend. This segment is growing faster and faster, and is
hungry for more. It's up to you to put yourself in front of
this avalanche of money and get your share!

The idea here is to fix your thinking. If you think you
have a money problem, you're wrong. You have a thinking
problem when it comes to money. You might not be able to
imagine the kind of income you could earn if you just
allow yourself to envision big spenders as your customers.
Try it, you'll like it!

Once you realize that nobody can see how broke you are,
because you're hidden behind a Web site, blog or
discussion forum identity, you'll start to loosen up and
treat these well-to-do people as if they are like everyone
else. You won't be afraid of them at all. You'll just give
them what they want and they'll send you lots and lots of
money! After all, you'll have made yourself valuable to
them. Isn't that worth thinking about, instead of how broke
you are?
