First off, let me get this out of the way — I am a HUGE Diaz brothers fan. Point blank, you will not find a person who loves to watch these guys fight more than me. After watching last night’s fight, I think Nick should’ve won the split decision because he won the first 3 rounds. Now that I got that out of the way, some of you MMA fans are fucking stupid. This was in no way a robbery if you look at the fight metric Carlos actually out landed Nick. If another person says Carlos ran, they need to have their right to watch MMA revoked, plain and simple.

THIS IS A SPORT YOU BLOODTHIRSY, DUMB NEANDERTHALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Condit’s job was not to stand in front of Diaz and play Rock’em Sock’em Robots  — HE WOULD LOSE. So you know what he did? Move away and hit Nick and not get into a fire fight. This is the problem I have with MMA fans — they think everyone should just stand in front of each other and throw bombs. A fighter’s job is to win. I love this sport, but some of you fans make me want to start watching golf or something  you bunch of dumb asses.

• Hopefully Nick isn’t really retiring — I don’t think he is I think he was just frustrated because he thought he won.
• Fabricio Werdum looked great against Big Country his Muay Thai was on point .
• Josh Koscheck and Mike Pierce was not the greatest fight, but hopefully it pushes Josh into a fight with Carlos.
• Renan Barao whooped Scott Jorgensen’s ass but I don’t think he beats Dominik Cruz or Urijah Faber.
• Clifford Starks and Ed Herman was a really fun fight. They were throwing bombs.
• So, Herb Dean screwed Bruce Leroy because if it wasn’t for the 2 point deduction he would have won that fight easily.

Like we always do at this time, here’s some good old fashioned violence  –my favorite Diaz fight ever, period.

In the grand scheme of things, the position of comptroller is very important, but nothing about it screams “badass.” In last season’s Tragical History, Cyril tried to show his ISIS coworkers that he was more than just a numbers cruncher. This failed horribly as the office got a virus that nearly exposed all field agents and Cyril felt even worse than when the debacle started. Oh, and let’s not forget the time he kidnapped Cheryl in order to get back the money she owed him. He had to cover that one up by publicly claiming he was “just jackin’ it” during phone sex at work.. Thankfully, Malory tends to be oblivious to things when she is worried about herself, especially if an enraged, naked Pam is about to beat her ass. Cyril probably cries himself to sleep every night wondering if he will ever get a chance to shine. Well Mr. Figgis, it looks like your time may have come because good things come to those who don’t get paralyzed.

^{OFF THE BENCH} Malory makes the decision to replace Ray after the whole Cuban hit-squad incident. You honestly have to figure that would have gone better if they weren’t waiting for the wheelchair lift. So the replacement for Ray is none other than Cyril, whom she sends with Lana and Archer on a bounty hunt to catch Román Calzado, a Colombian drug lord. Cyril gets himself captured but very quickly and cleverly dons the disguise of El Contador, “sent” by Calzado’s boss to make sure he is not stealing from him. Cyril says that he wants to feel like more of a part of the team. At least in this mission, he does a damn good job of making himself a valuable field asset.

^{PISSY PEOPLE} Malory gets the bright idea to have a drug test after sending Archer and company after a drug lord. This terrifies the entire office pool because they are all using something or another. Working at ISIS, can you really blame them? Enter Krieger to the rescue, who claims that his “Krieger Cleanse” can remove any and all traces of illicit substances, thus saving their jobs. Pam, Ray and Cheryl immediately try to gulp the tea down but it smells and tastes awful. It also has some rather interesting side effects. They probably would have kicked Krieger’s ass had they been lucid enough to notice he was using them as guinea pigs to perfect the tea. Don’t ask me how the hell they passed the test after the hallucinations they had.

^{WHAT A TUNT} Cheryl is steadily going more and more insane and it is getting really difficult to see where it stems from. She’s stinking rich, which has always been a good source of insanity and then there is the erotic asphyxiation obsession. The lack of air to the brain could be causing some issues as well. I mean Pam smokes a lot of weed, but she does it in her office. Cheryl “glues up” right in front of her boss and co-workers and we see in this episode that she brings “Groovy Bears” to work, which I am not sure I even want to know what is in those. I have a strong feeling that she is going to do something major this season, especially after the line she delivers (with an attitude) at the end of the episode: “That’s our pee, and that’s the last I better hear about it because this stupid building is a tinder box and I will burn it to the ground.” That is the second time she has threatened to burn the building down. I have a feeling that by the end of season three, ISIS may need a new headquarters.

This episode easily goes into the top five funniest episodes of Archer, if only for that last line. Between Pam’s brute strength and tolerance for tranquilizers, Cyril shitting himself while smelling like roses and watching a paralyzed gay man get down at a gay rave, El Contador had it all. The only thing this episode was missing is Pam beating Malory’s ass, which was the most hysterical moment in the series to date.There are eleven episodes left in this season; someone is going to die of laughter before it is all over.

Hi, may I have two tickets for Akira? …..Oops, I meant Chronicle, of course. If you thought the Americanized version of Akira had been shelved for the time being then you would be correct, but Chronicle still fits that bill.

Before I continue, I have to assume that the reader has either seen or at least heard of the 1988 anime production, Akira. If you have not, please click this link before continuing my review.

I dare the makers of this film to say this film was not influenced by Akira because that would be a flat-out lie. The question is does being a rip-off make this film bad? While I doubt this film will become a classic the way Akira has, you might be surprised to find yourself as entertained as I was by the end credits.

^TETSUO! The movie centers around high school senior Andrew Detmer (Dane DeHaan), a loner whose only friend at the start of the film is his cousin Matt Garetty (Alex Russell). Due to his abusive home life, Andrew decides to start filming every aspect of his life. One night at a party, Matt’s friend Steve Montgomery (Michael B. Jordan) drags Andrew and his camera to a hole that is making strange noises and causing interference on the camera. The trio climb down and find an object of uncertain origin (it looked like a crystal but might have been living as it had moving nerve-like branches) that proceeds to knock them out and destroy the camera. Flash forward roughly two weeks and the three are displaying psychic powers that continue to grow in strength until things start to go horribly wrong.

^{TRILOGY OF TERROR} Watching this movie, the words Peter Parker came to live by from his uncle come to mind. The three boys came to have great power; unfortunately only two of them were able to handle the responsibility. They had their fun and they constantly tested the limits of their abilities, but when someone got hurt, they tried to make rules to live by and only Andrew saw a problem with this. The worst part about that is that he didn’t get that they were trying to protect themselves as a group even more than protecting others. They were not any kind of super heroes, they were just three friends and the powers drew them ever closer. It becomes clear that the three are linked in some way, but that aspect of the story never gets fleshed out. Andrew is pitiable at the beginning when you see how his father treats him and how he is ironically powerless to help his mother. That pity fades as you see him shut out the friends that care about him and his mindset changes.

^{IT’S MAGIC!} It’s pretty cool what fifteen million and some imagination can produce. Chronicle has very simple special effects that come together to create very cool imagery. Sadly, if you have seen the trailer, you have pretty much seen all of it. The football practice scene was a favorite aside from the famous teddy bear attack scene. Honestly, the trailer made the movie more predictable than it already was because you get to a certain point in the movie and think “well, I haven’t seen this scene yet, so that must be next.” Still, the effects were done well enough to create a small amount of “ooooooh” in the blockbuster film pre-season.

^{BLAIR WITCHIN’} Ninety-five percent of the movie is told in the form of a video blog and you really have to ignore it to enjoy the film. Andrew takes his damn camera everywhere, especially after his powers allow him to use it hands free. Some scenes actually make no sense whatsoever that he took the camera with him, even after he develops his “apex predator attitude.” I guess the audience is on set in this one and we just have to “pretend the camera is not even there.”

All slams aside, Chronicle is an enjoyable film. Yes, it does take a lot of its plot material from the Akira anime, but it was a good diversion during a the movie dry season. There were some glaring plot holes from the outset, starting with the source of the boys’ powers. We never learn what it is or what becomes of it. However, I think that may have been done on purpose. Along with the ending and the scene where the boys try to return to the hole, I have a feeling that the creators are trying to set up for a sequel. Oh yeah, the way the movie ends, you might expect something to happen after the credits, but nothing does. Chronicle could stand on its own or be part of a two to three part story, but we shall have to wait and see whether the story will continue.

Archer has been through a real gauntlet recently. He has had to fight everything from kidnappers to terrorists to cancer to statutory rape charges. Let’s not even go into how he is paying child support on Cyril’s illegitimate child (which is some real poetic justice when you think about it). Regardless of his troubles, Sterling has managed to maintain a carefree attitude of selfishness, mostly. On three separate occasions we have seen him show genuine feelings for people and in those brief moments we have seen a more mature, more adult Sterling Archer. Could the days of the shoot first, ask stupid questions later playboy be coming to an end? I would not recommend holding your breath on that one.

^{CANNONBALL RUN} Archer strikes out on a threesome right in front of his one and only hero, Burt Reynolds. To his horror, he learns that Burt is dating Malory and the world’s most dangerous spy decides that it has to end. He kidnaps Burt and makes his mother think she has been dumped. All of this happens in the midst of a Cuban hit squad attempting to end Archer. The most idiotic kidnapping since Pam was mistaken for Cheryl turns into a chase scene the Blues Brothers would have been proud of. The unofficial start of Archer season three made the wait since Heart of Archness more than worth it. We were treated to cars, cops, guns and the return of Krieger’s “fiancée.”

^{LOVE MACHINE} When Archer’s ex-fiancée saved him from Bionic Barry she landed on and destroyed Krieger’s van which left him just as tearful as the grieving groom. I don’t know if he rebuilt it or just got a new van but Krieger is rolling again and the van is equipped with handicapped access for Ray after the injuries he suffered in New Guinea. Note to self: it is never a good idea to try to load a wheelchair passenger into a vehicle during a gunfight, even if he is sporting twin Desert Eagles. Doing stuff like that tends to be bad for your custom paint job. Well, hopefully Krieger will be able to build a third van as easily as the second.

^{OFFICE SPACE} Cheryl Tunt is insane, that is pretty much a given. Seriously, let’s look at her track record. She dated and slept with Archer despite him constantly getting her name wrong; she even changed her name to Carol for a bit because of it (Malory even calls her Carol in this episode). She has boned pretty much the whole office just so she could feel sexier than Lana, and she has some rather self-destructive habits. I am not quite sure if she sniffs or eats it, but her rubber cement addiction is pretty disturbing. She also loves asphyxiation during sex so much that she almost let a robot snap her like a twig. It really makes you wonder why anyone short of “Fight Club” aka Pam even goes near her. She is way more dangerous than any secret agent and if you listen to the little things she says, you will be more than creeped out.

I have two predictions for this season of Archer: Archer is going to become a better person…and then revert back, and Cheryl is going to make good on at least one of her threats because that bitch is crazy. No one has to believe me, but last season I predicted that Archer and Lana would be back in the sack long before the Stage Two episode aired. I also have a feeling that despite the fact that Archer has forgotten Katya’s name already that he and Bionic Barry are going to have a reckoning. It feels weird that this is the fourth episode of the third season despite being the premiere, but when is anything normal on this show? Stay tuned to the most explosive season of Archer yet!

I’ll admit it. I read “The Hunger Games” by Suzanne Collins a few weeks ago based solely on the fact that there is a movie coming out on it. Not sure what to expect, I loaded it up on my iPad and gave it a shot. Glad I did – as it kept me engrossed start to finish, and I am waiting with baited breath with the rest of the world for this movie.

The premise for “The Hunger Games” is simple – and a lot like “Battle Royale” (or so I am told). Set in post-apocalyptic times, 16-year old Katniss Everdeen lives with her mother and sister Primrose in the 12th District of the country of Panem (a.k.a. used-to-be-North-America). Their District is one of the 12 Districts ruled by The Capitol – a highly advanced city holds that absolute power over everyone else. In punishment for to a long-ago uprising against them by the people of the Districts, The Capitol had created The Hunger Games – an annual event in which one boy and one girl aged 12–18 from each of the Districts (called Tributes) are selected by lottery to compete in a televised battle to the death in which only one Tribute will survive. On one particular lottery, which is the very first year Prim is entered into the lottery, she is called to be a Tribute. Katniss volunteers to take her younger sister’s place in the Games.

The movie is set to premiere March 23rd, with a great cast - Jennifer Lawrence in the lead role of Katniss beside the impressive likes of Josh Hutcherson (Peeta) , Liam Hemsworth (Gale) , Woody Harrelson (Haymitch), Elizabeth Banks (Effie), Lenny Kravitz (Cinna), Stanley Tucci (Caesar Flickerman) and Donald Sutherland (President Snow).

The second season of Archer had it all: love, betrayal, sex, money, murder and fight clubs. Yes, there really was a fight club and the ISIS crew will never be able to scrub the vision of a naked Pam about to beat the snot out of Malory from their memories. Fortunately, we fans never have to forget it either with the release of the complete second season on video. Relive all the action, all the moments of stupidity and the sheer “RAMPAAAAGE!” of it all. We also (sort of) get an answer to where the “Heart of Archness” trilogy belongs and sadly, it is not a part of Season Two. I am just hoping that Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment does not decide that it is in between seasons and release it on a standalone disc because that would be a rip off.

^VIDEO Between Floyd County Productions and Trinity Animation, the creative minds behind Archer do a damn good job of making you think a mostly computer generated show is hand-drawn. There are occasionally moments where the animation looks a bit stiff and you can definitely tell that good ol’ After Effects is at work, but the show has always had an been an overall quality visual product. Now that both seasons are available on blu-ray, fans can enjoy the show as it was meant to be seen. Unlike other popular animated shows that air in HD but sell in SD only (lookin’ at you, Family Guy), FX realizes that fans of the show are probably as fanatical about Archer as he is about Burt Reynolds. Thumbs up on a perfect screen to disc translation.

^AUDIO The makers of Archer are not one to phone it in and the show has seen steady improvement on all fronts since the show’s inception. Both seasons of Archer on blu-ray shipped with 5.1 DTS –HD audio direct from the master. There is an international law that H. Jon Benjamin’s voice has to be broadcast in HD audio when he voices Sterling Archer, or at least, Archer would tell you some idiotic shit like that. If you have not already made a ringtone out of the Pirate “What What” virus then now is your best chance because the show never sounded better.

^EXTRAS Sadly, this is where the package falls short. Let me be clear, the special features in this collection are great, but I would expect more from the madness that breathes life into this show. We find out what happened to Archersaurus, the previous actor to star as Sterling and the live cast talks about season three at the 2011 San Diego comic con. We also see Archer answering fan mail and paying tribute to our military. The shorts are great, but they are just that. I guess I would have liked to see interviews with the cast members individually and maybe some more bonus animation, but beggars cannot be choosers. Let’s face it, if you love the show, you are buying this set even if it had no extras.

Aside from wanting more from the extras, the only thing bad I can say about this set stems from some confusion that occurred last year during the “Heart of Archness” special. No one seemed to be sure if the three episodes were the end of season two or the start of season three and considering when it aired there was no real way to tell. Sadly, the release of season two on blu-ray confirms that we will not see Archer and Rip Riley go at it until the season three comes out on video. It is a small gripe because this package is fantastic even with only thirteen episodes. Also, having seen the first two new episodes in season three, the Heart of Archness trilogy is going to be blown out of the water by what comes next so fans need to stay tuned.

Reason for nomination: Who is 5’7” , 145 pounds, and when you hear Run This Town you know an ass whooping is coming ? José Aldo that’s who. Since he stepped into the WEC and started knocking fools out I fell in love with his fighting style. Once he became the Featherweight Champion he continued to kill dudes until he got to Mark Hominick. For some reason I thought this fight showed a chink in Jose’s armor which I find hilarious since Hominick looked like this after the fight .

His next fight he beat up Kenny Florian for 5 rounds but once again people thought this was an issue because he didn’t  kill Florian. Going into the Chad Mendes  fight I saw multiple sites  that picked Mendes but once the fight started it became clear that Mendes couldn’t get Jose down. Then it happened , Jose hit Chad flush in the face with a nasty knee after which he had one of the coolest post fight celebrations I’ve ever seen when he jumped in the crowd and celebrated. With that brutal KO and awesome post fight celebration he is my fighter of the month.

Willem Dafoe has such a strange resume. He has so many memorable roles mixed in with dog shit like Antichrist that I am always apprehensive about watching films where he is the leading man. I will admit that the plot of this film looks very intriguing and the story of the Tasmanian Tiger has always been something I have had interest in. This film in a way reminds me of another underrated film called The Ghost and the Darkness. I hope this film has that same deep storytelling that made The Ghost and the Darkness so enjoyable. The additional of Sam Neill lends more credibility to this film and gives me hope that it will be a hit and not a miss. What do you guys think of Dafoe as a leading man?

So the UFC on Fox 2 card happened this past weekend and I must say I enjoyed it, which strangely puts me in the minority. A lot of MMA fans have overreacted that the fights on the main card weren’t amazing, and they weren’t, but they were relevant. The main event between Phil Davis and Rashad Evans went exactly how I thought it would with Rashad showing that he was a far better MMA wrestler than Davis is right now. And before anyone bags on Phil Davis  the dude has only had 7 fights and is still developing. Not every big black guy is Jon Jones. Overall I’m not sure if this card brought in any new fans but I’m not sure if that is even needed now that MMA is mainstream. Not every Fox card needs to bring in a billion new fans.

• Can I just point out how bad ass Rashad coming out to Mobb Deeps Shook Ones part 1
• I thought Micheal Bisping won his fight with Chael Sonnen he clearly won the first and second round
• So once again Chael acts like this is pro wrestling. His promo was ripped off from Superstar Billy Graham
• The Maia vs Weidman fight confused me since I had no idea what Maia’s game plan was. While he is probably the best jiu-jitsu guy in the UFC I don’t know why he decided to have a sloppy kick boxing match.
• Evan Dunham an Nik Lentz was a really fun fight
• Charles Oliveira pulled of a calf slicer which was nothing short of dope
