You see the internet is filled with more then enough successful people and finding those people are easy if you just visit some of the top blogs out there. This is how I ran across my good friend Syed Balkhi, and if you don’t know him then you will after this interview.

Syed Balkhi is an guy who have came along way, and he have made his mark on this online world and is doing good justice for big companies and the avenger Joe. Syed specialize in web design and seo, the two most important things when it comes to online marketing.

So without further interruption…here’s the interview.

Q. I see that you are an busy guy who have just taken website designing to an new level. I just wanted to know were did the passion come from to start designing website?

A. My passion to design websites came from my passion of art. In the beginning, I used to design my desktop wallpapers, forum avatars and signature, and that hobby overtime evolved into a full-fledged web design business.

Q. Since your start back in 2002..has website designing changed much over the past 8 years?

A. Web design has changed tremendously over the past eight years. We have moved from those ugly flash websites to more of Web 2.0 and now 3.0 development. Websites are a lot more cleaner on the front-end as well as on the backend. Designers have moved away from coding in tables and have shifted to coding with divs and now we are on the verge of entering HTML5.

Q. Have WordPress made life easier as an developer?

A. WordPress has been a game changer for us because it allows us to create sites ten times faster, and hundred times more user friendly for our users and search engines. With WordPress, our clients can make the minor changes themselves making our job easier.

Q. Syed I see you have done web design for some big names out there like Crazy Eggs..I wanted to know what percentage of websites you design are blogs versus the traditional site..and why?

A. Majority of the websites that we design are blogs because we specialize in WordPress development. Among the big brands, we have established credibility, and a very good reputation through our site WPBeginner.

Q. Is SEO something your company teach your clients?

A. We do not teach SEO to our clients aside from showing them how to work with All in One SEO plugin in WordPress. SEO is something that cannot be thought, it is a skill acquired overtime through experience.

Q. I see that you have taken pictures with some of the biggest player online…so I wanted to know is networking something you recommend to any company who want to grow to the next level.

A. Networking is something that I recommend to everyone who wants to get to the next level. I have made tons of great friends, and I am on a first name basis with a lot of web celebrities. Email contacts are great, but meeting face to face is a whole different level. Even if you have to spend few grands to get to Vegas, I think it is worth spending the money and time.

Q. I know UZZZ is your other company..and you guys focus more on the SEO part of marketing..so I wanted to ask you your views on why SEO is so important to the growth of one’s business.

A. SEO is crucial for growth of any business because everyone looks at Google when they are trying to find something. So ranking higher than your competitors is very important for one’s business. For most of the sites, Google account for the largest traffic source, therefore I think SEO is a must for every site.

Q. Finally what goals do you have for yourself and your companies in the next five years?
I have plans on launching two new companies in the coming year. Our goal for Uzzz production is to continue expanding and getting more clients. The goal for WPBeginner is to make it the best resource in the WordPress community.

Q. Plus can you leave some good words of encouragement to a beginner blogger?

A. Everybody starts out as a beginner. Motivation and Dedication are the factors that set the few that makes it apart. So don’t give up, and be persistent. If you are blogging for the sake of money, then don’t do it. Blog to fill a much need voided within your industry.

Now you can understand that hard work pays off and if you are looking to become successful online then you must put in that hard work and begin to network with like minded people.

Wow..what a way to start the month of November with an guy who I think is the definition of making things happen the hard way. Hector Cuevas has been around online for an short time but his impact has been felt by many.

It’s not often you meet good marketers online who not only care about their business, but also care about the everyday reader. This is what Hector stand for and strive to continue to make his present felt.

Hector took some time to sit down with me and give a little advice on how you got his start in this online world and reveal some of the most important things you can do if you want to becomes an superstar of this marketing world.

Q. Hector thanks for talking some time out of your busy day to educate the readers of my blog on who you are and how this thing we call internet marketing works.

A. Hey Antonio, it’s my pleasure. Thanks for having me. I hope I can provide a lot of valuable information that your readers can implement and get results.

Q. First before we get into your world of marketing, can you speak a little about your back ground before your blogging days.

A. Before my blogging days I was doing a lot of learning. I learned about internet marketing in January of 2009 and I was immediately hooked to the idea of building a business online. I was learning all about the information marketing industry and how we can build a business around stuff that we

1. Are passionate about and

2. Know a lot about.

So, I started playing around with some things; like HTML, web design, capture pages, affiliate marketing, videos – basically everything that had to do with an information business. I knew deep down that if I wanted to make this work I needed to learn some new skills.

I tried a lot of things, but wasn’t getting any monetary results. So, I would lose interest really quickly, but a few weeks later I’d be back trying something new.

Fast forward to 2010, I decided to really kick it into high gear and build a business around ME as oppose to just promoting any random product on clickbank. So, on April 10, 2010, I launched my blog – I had bought the domain a few months prior but it was just collecting digital dust. It was my first real push towards blogging; which I soon realized was the best decision I’ve ever made.

Q. I know most of us started online at some point and we looked up to or followed certain people who we thought were doing great online.
Now did you have any mentoring people who you followed and admired when you got started?

A. Yes, when I was getting started I heard the usual names in the IM industry. Jeff Walker, Frank Kern, Russell Brunson and Ryan Diess. Mike Dillard was another person I was hearing a lot about and learned from. But I didn’t get any mentoring from these guys.

I was mostly looking at what they were DOING, as oppose to what they were teaching. I was really impressed with their business model, and wanted to build my own business MODELING what they were doing.

Q. What do you think is the biggest myth that you think newbie’s don’t know about making money online? I say this because lots of people think you can become an over night success in just 30 days..what are your views on that?

A. The biggest myth in my eyes is, “Building an online business is easy“. Don’t listen to that B.S. Anytime you hear about “overnight success” or “full-time income in 30 days”, the person saying it is most likely trying to sell you something. Not many people will talk about the time they spent “paying their dues”.

The time they spent trying things and failing. The time they spent on projects that just flopped – because they’re afraid to be viewed as failures. Just remember that behind every success story there’s a ton mistakes.

The key here it to always focus on your visitors, your subscribers and your customers. The more time you spend helping them, the less time you spend worrying about you.

Q. Let’s talk about your blog http://www.hectorjcuevas.com/… when did you start it? Plus what is the concept you’re trying to teach your readers.

A. I launched my blog on April 10, 2010. When I first started it, I wanted it to be a valuable resource for anything that had to do with internet marketing. But, I soon realized that niching down even further would allow me to help others with specific problems that I had when I was getting started. So, I chose blogging for two reasons.

1. It forced me to learn more about what I was doing and..

2. It would help me provide content that had to do with the stuff I was currently working on; which makes the content that much more exciting, in my opinion.

Q. Hector I see that you teach a lot about building traffic and we all know as marketers is that traffic is very vital to the success of any website.
For the readers out there who are struggling to gain traffic, give us your top three tips that you used to grow your blog that can probably jump start the engine of an dead website?

A. Top three traffic tips. This is hard because there are so many, but I’m going to give you the three that you can start doing immediately.
1. Guest Posting (hands down) – make a list of other blogs in your niche and ask the owner if you could submit a guest post. I wrote a post on Guest Blogging Tips, if your readers are interest.

2. Linking Out To Other Bloggers – Write posts that put the spotlight on other bloggers on your same level or a bit higher than you are. This will help you get on their radar and they might even link to your post as a way of saying “thanks for the mention”.

3. Tribes – This is getting a lot more popular in the home based business industry. You can create a small group of “syndication partners” on Facebook and agree to all share and retweet each others content. You can reach a much larger audience doing it this way.

Q. We all know when your website starts to grow it can start to take on a life of it’s own…especially when it starts to take an hour just to return email.
This can be an headache…but besides that everything else starts to grow as well and become overwhelming.
How do you handle that because most bloggers turn to outsourcing ..What are your views on that?

A.I see it like this. If Gary Vee can reply to hundreds of emails and even the bad reviews on Amazon.com, then we all can. It takes a lot of work and effort to build a blog, and it takes even more work to maintain it once it grows.

I believe that outsourcing should only be used for customer service issues like “I forgot my password” or “something isn’t working” – but when it comes to actually helping people, creating content and building relationships with your audience, it should all be done by YOU.

My views might change in the future, but for now I answer every wall post on Facebook, every comment, every email, and everything else I receive because building an audience has to do with how much you care.

Q. One question I love to ask any marketer out there is..how do you deal with the bad people online. Meaning the people who are hateful and disrespectful.
We all know the bigger you get the more shots people will take at you and you should learn how to deal with them…believe me I got many stories to tell.

But for the readers out there who one day will be in our shoes, can you educate them on the process you follow to deal with people who leave bad comment and or write bad stuff about you on other blogs?

A.The smart thing to do is to pick your battles. Some people will envy you and your success and they’ll start saying hateful and disrespectful things. Those people you ignore. The ones you should reply to are the ones that actually have something to say; something that makes sense.

Your job is to try and find out why they feel the way they do and try and fix it. You can’t please everyone, but you can always agree to disagree.

Q. Hector do you sale any products or offer any services to people who visit your site? If so… enlighten us?

A. I have an audio program called Funnel Secrets which teaches you how to effectively set up the lead generation process. It also goes into the different lead magnets that you can use to build your email list, plus some other stuff.

Q. To end this interview can you leave us with some motivational words for people who are struggling online and just need a little motivational saying?

A. You will struggle. You need to ACCEPT that now, because once you do, you can move forward. I spend over a year, learning, struggling, trying things, seeing affiliate commissions once in a blue – now I can send an email and make money.

Now I have a blog that gets thousands of visits every week. But, none of this would’ve been possible if I didn’t go through all that struggle in the beginning. So if you’re getting started, prepare yourself mentally for the pain and agony of the first 6 to 12 months – it’s not easy but it’s also not impossible.
