Why you would want to run WM6 on your iPhone 3G, who knows? but the developer plans to release an open source version of this software in January. Check out the video.</li>

Apple confirmed these rumors yesterday by finally making the October 14th 2008 Event official. The Cupertino Apple campus Town Hall event is limited to selected media and guests and the invite says “The spotlight turns to Notebooks” which is a clear indication that this event is all about notebooks and the MacBook family.

There are rumors that Apple may finally introduce a sub $1000 USD notebook to compete with Dell, HP and others who have control of the sub $1000 notebook market. There are indications that Apple may introduce a line of notebooks that range in price from $800-$3100 USD.

There are allot of rumors based on the events leaked code name for the star of the show, “the Brick”, and what it could be. Some are speculating that it is a new technique for carving the MacBook casings from one piece of aluminium, doing away with allot of seams, screws and less pieces to the notebook. Others speculated that this may be the code name for a new Touch Tablet or even a new AppleTV/Mac Mini crossbreeed. In the end, we’ll only have to wait until next Tuesday to find out. Below are a couple photos of the supposed new MacBook ‘Brick’.

Apple analysts issued a report recently suggesting that Apple has already hit their target of selling 10,000,000 (that’s right ten million) iPhones world wide by the end of 2008 a few months early. The iPhone 3G is available in over 70 countries world wide and is even sold officially unlocked in Hong Kong Apple Stores and Online.

In other news, a recent report on AppleInsider indicates that according to NPD the iPhone 3G is now the second best-selling mobile handset in the United States (and I am sure in many other countries too). The Apple iPhone 3G is second place the the Motorola Razr V3 according to US sales charts. More importantly these same charts show that the iPhone 3G is now the top selling smartphone, outselling the BlackBerry Curve, Pearl and Palm Centro.

Last week a malicious rumor was started and posted on many iPhone and Apple News Blogs reporting that Steve Jobs suffered a massive heart attack and was rushed to the hospital. I choose not to post the news, even if they were true I wanted to make sure they came from an Apple announcement. These rumors were thankfully false and Apple CEO, Steve Jobs is in good health according to a Apple PR. Regardless the Apple stocks (AAPL: 106.34 +2.17%) fell almost 10 points that Friday before recovering slightly, but since then the (AAPL: 106.34 +2.17%) stock price continues to fall.

This rumor shows how affected Apple Stock Price is on the health of Apple’s CEO, Steve Jobs and how closely he is tied to it’s future and success. This is very unsettling to investors and I personally think this is being reflected in Apple (AAPL: 106.34 +2.17%) stock value recently, and the recent US stock market down turn isn’t helping either. But this all still comes after Apple has had one of it’s best overall sales years for iMac’s Laptops, iPods and of course iPhones.

Let’s all hope that with Steve Jobs himself unveiling the rumored “Brick”, along with Apple’s new improved, cheaper MacBook line and maybe some sort of Touch Tablet will help increase some confidence in Apple Stocks (AAPL: 106.34 +2.17%) and more so, the CEO’s health.

I have been really busy recently with life, work and everything NOT iPhone. It seems to have pissed a few people off, others sent me SMS/emails messages saying that I had obviously given up on iPhones and unlocking my 3G and I had no time for the blog etc. Well to be honest, I kind of have (had). Thankfully the Dev Team are still working on the iPhone 3G baseband Unlock and here is the latest that they have posted on their blog.

“We’ve been exploring different ideas with the 3G unlock, but this past weekend one of us hit a big snag. For whatever reason, all of our poking and prodding of the 3G baseband caused it to finally have a breakdown. After one specific exploit run, all of a sudden our baseband stopped responding to the OS. Even after multiple restore attempts, we were plagued with errors like this:

Somehow our software hacking had caused the baseband chip’s SPI bus to stop responding (so it looked like a hardware problem). Even though BBUpdaterExtreme reported the correct baseband version, it failed basic tests like memtest:

If you’re familiar with the baseband revision history for the 3G iPhone, you may have noticed that the above captures were done at the original 01.45 baseband. As dire (and hardware-related) as these messages sounded, though, there was a simple solution. We just updated to 01.46 and then downgraded again (because we can run unsigned code on the baseband CPU) to 01.45.

We tried to recreate the problem by using the same exploit over again, but it doesn’t appear to be reproducible (which is actually disappointing, as it might have been exploitable).

Anyway, there you go…a random, technical snapshot of dev team work.”

One readers comments suggests that this may be the method that leads to a 3G baseband unlock if the Dev Team can re-create the error again and are able to upload unassigned code that can execute the unlock.

You guys are geniuses!!! All you have to do at this point to recreate the exploit is to migrate in the reference file ICE2 to the CFI loader. Once you do that, the bootsector is going to change its boot mode from 0xCC to 0xFF. Which of course is going to allow you to send a flash ID to the Protocol configuration sect which ultimately will allow the core kernel to redirect and redistribute the command queue, preventing it from stalling on command 2215. Once all this is accomplished you can then run any unsigned code on the baseband. So there you go guys.

Backgrounder allows you to hold down the home button when you quit an app to have it continue running in the background. You can even add some XML code to assign apps that run in the background by default, a handy little trick for keeping IM apps like Palringo and others in the background. Apparently there are still some bugs but this is an impress</li>

The Dev Team have posted on their blog that they have successfully PWNED iPhone firmware 2.2 Beta on first gen iPhone and iPod Touch devices. Firmware 2.2 was only seeded to developers earlier this week. The Dev&rsquo;s are still hard at work at trying to Jailbreak the new iPod Touch 2G and unlock the iPhone 3G. With the iPhone 3G now officially a</li>

Looks like the first leaked photo of the new MacBook Pro has found it&rsquo;s way onto the internet. The leaked photo is presumably the new MacBook (pro maybe) and it sports the new MacBook Air styling, and iMac screen trim, tying the two Apple lines together. Most interestingly is the touchpad, it seems to be glass and looks like it has the dock</li>

Apple notified some iPhone developers that a new beta iPhone firmware 2.2 is available for testing. The new version is labeled iPhone OS 2.2 beta 1 and is accompanied by a new beta of the iPhone SDK (build 9M2611). The only differences noted by Apple are &ldquo;compatibility testing&rdquo;. There is no word yet of the new background push notificati</li>

Well, well, well - Without any warning or announcement, Apple is selling the iPhone fully unlocked from it&rsquo;s website to customers in Hong Kong. According to the Apple HK website, an 8GB Unlocked iPhone will set you back $5,400 HK ($692), while a 16GB model costs $6,200 HK ($794). Jay Freeman, a sort of Robin Hood of the iPhone/Touch hacking community recently, has ported one of my long time favorite and most used apps, MobileFinder, to 2.0-2.1 iPhone OS. Copy, paste and move files and folders, delete unwanted files and folders, set permissions and more.</li>

QuickGold is a fast, keyboard-based launcher for pwned iPhones. Think Quicksilver for the iPhone. Simply install QuickGold from Cydia and press home button whenever you are on the springboard and QuickGold will launch the keyboard and a search bar, type any name, number, app name etc and you are quickly prompted with a list of contacts or apps.</li>

MobileStacks for the iPhone and iPod Touch is one of my long lost friends. Looks like we will be reunited again soon thanks to High Caffeine Content and mobilestack - Google Code. If you don&rsquo;t know what stacks are have a look at the videos below and stay tuned for more updates.</li>
