<p>What I haven&#8217;t told you is that I also went for a 2.5 hour single speed mountain bike ride yesterday afternoon.  That&#8217;s probably what kept the weight off overnight, certainly not eating popcorn.</p>
<p>Weight loss is really a matter of <strong>balance</strong>.</p>
<p>Balancing the amount of energy (calories) going in versus going out.</p>

<p>It has been about six months since I last said anything about <strong>losing weight</strong>.</p>
<p>And a year before that since I even made a post.</p>
<p>What the hell is going on?</p>
<h2>No I Have Not Been Losing Weight</h2>
<p>Sitting at the 180 lbs and less range for awhile now.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m &#8220;maintaining&#8221; a less than ideal weight for my height (5&#8242;10&#8243;).</p>
<p>Spring is here and now I&#8217;m starting to exercise more.</p>
<p>Have started commuting to work by bicycle &#8211; 9 miles each way.</p>
<p>Takes about 45 minutes in the morning going slightly uphill.</p>
<p>And 35 minutes in the evening going slightly downhill.</p>
<p>I feel great when I commute by bike.</p>
<h2>Maybe If I Talk About Losing Weight I Will Lose Weight</h2>

<p>When I first lost 23 lbs in about 6 months my motivation was my dad.</p>
<p>He came to visit and was NOT the picture of health.  I told myself that is NOT how I want to end up.</p>
<p>That drove me to lose about a pound a week for 6 months.  I painted a picture in my mind of the type of fitness I wanted and it included losing 23 lbs (<a title="specific and measurable goal" href="http://topachievement.com/smart.html" target="_blank">specific and measurable goal</a>).</p>
