Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI), in its green advocacy to leave blue skies for the children, was supported by Honda Club of the Philippines (HCP) in the recently concluded 3^rd Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS).

A total of 300 from HCP brought their Honda vehicles and gathered at the World Trade Center to act as Honda’s brand ambassadors in promoting green motoring.

“Together as a club, we are proud and thrilled to join Honda in this worthy cause. This is our simple way of expressing our accordance with environmentally responsible driving. With green engineering behind i-VTEC engines, owning a Honda imparts a badge of environment-friendliness.” said Mr. Jong Herrera, President of HCP.

In driving a Honda, HCP members, together with other Honda owners, help preserve the environment by consuming less fuel and by releasing less harmful emissions. All powered by the ingenious i-VTEC engine, Honda vehicles make the most out of every drop of fuel by adjusting valve timing and valve opening combination to pump in fuel as needed. Apart from fuel efficiency, Honda vehicles are also engineered to release less harmful emissions. Honda is the only local manufacturer that reaches EURO 4 levels for ALL its model line-up, even if Philippine regulations only mandate EURO 2 compliance. EURO 4 standards translate to approximately 56% reduction in harmful emissions as compared to EURO 2 standards. To date, almost 82,000 Honda units with EURO 4 levels have already been sold and ply Philippine roads.

Maranello, 1 September – August was a record month for the museum of the Prancing Horse with more than 30,000 visitors, which will lead to over 200,000 by the end of the year.

Great success also for the other Summer initiative: another iconic place in the world of Ferrari, the Fiorano circuit, was open to guests for guided tours in some days of the week.

This September the Red Campus programme, dedicated to students from secondary and high schools, starts with didactic tours to widen the young visitors’ knowledge of the production areas that make Ferrari a model of excellence in the automotive field.

An area of the museum now hosts the new Galleria Ferrari Red Campus Laboratory, developed in collaboration with Shell. The laboratory is dedicated to the students, but can also be enjoyed by the other guests. The didactic tour allows visitors to discover the world of Ferrari via direct and virtual experiences in the areas of Technological Innovation, the Team and the Organisation, and Emotion.

The experience is completed with the visit of the halls where the cars produced by Ferrari can be seen and the “Sala delle Vittorie”, the Hall of Fame, where the World Champion single-seaters from 1999 to 2008 can be admired next to 120 trophies out of the over 200 GPs won by the Scuderia with the Prancing Horse, and a sound box, to experience the emotion of Ferrari engine sounds on the track and on the road.

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit “On Tour” was in Chicago last week for another promotional VIP/ Media party to promote its upcoming Need for Speed Hot Pursuit game as well as its other gaming properties.  The event was held at  the Debonair Social Club in the Wicker Park area of Chicago, the event kicked off at 7pm and for two hours was open exclusively to media, celebrity VIPS, and fans of Need for Speed who registered through the On Tour site.

STUTTGART, Germany — Porsche confirmed on Wednesday that it will build the sensational 918 Spyder, first seen earlier this year as a concept at the 2010 Geneva Auto Show.

The automaker said the production version of the high-performance hybrid will be assembled in limited numbers at its home plant in Zuffenhausen, just outside Stuttgart.

An official statement released Wednesday said the company has received an “overwhelming response” from the public to the 918 Spyder concept. Earlier reports indicated Porsche had received expressions of interest from more than 900 buyers.

Porsche did not specify a production start-up date or a price tag, although widespread media reports in Europe have suggested the sticker could exceed $600,000.

Michael Macht, Porsche AG president and chairman of the board of management, said: “Production of the 918 Spyder in a limited series proves that we are taking the right approach with Porsche Intelligent Performance, featuring the combination of supreme performance and efficient drivetrain concepts.”

Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. exhibits the winning CR-V shots of Club EOS finalists who took part of the recently concluded basic car photography workshop entitled, ‘Honda CR-V: Capturing Cross Over with Club EOS.’ Organized by Honda, in cooperation with Canon Marketing Philippines, Club EOS members spent a whole day of learning under the tutelage of John Chua, one of the country’s premier figures in the realm of advertising and automotive photography.

The workshop provided 29 club members the opportunity to learn key aspects in the field of automotive photography using their Canon EOS cameras. Having proper lighting, creative angles and use of appropriate camera settings are some of the basic considerations in bringing out the car’s most complementing lines and over-all premium finish.

Taking the center stage is the 2010 Honda CR-V. With its new front grille design, refreshed bumpers, modern alloy wheel designs and clear-cut lines, the photography workshop aimed to creatively capture the more refined and tougher look of the CR-V.

More than just styling, the CR-V is environment-friendly too. The CR-V, just line any other Honda models, has cleaner exhaust emissions that meet the stringent EURO 4 levels, even if Philippine regulations only require EURO 2.

“Having modern styling and earth-friendly characteristics to boot, we challenged Club EOS finalists to work on the themes ‘Sophistication and Refinement’ and ‘In Harmony with Nature’.” said Mr. Voltaire Gonzales, HCPI’s Vehicle Sales and Corporate Communications Head. “Actually, we were very excited at the onset of this project since this was our first time to stage a car photography workshop. Much has been talked about landscape or portrait photography but only a few about automotive photography. And so, we thought of having this specialized type of workshop for better appreciation of car design and styling.” he added.

Known for his keen attention to details, John Chua opted to share his expertise in settings with excellent photography opportunities like the Mall of Asia grounds and in Lighthouse Resort in Subic. Participants not only got to photograph the CR-V as the main subject of the workshop but also got to enjoy its agile performance, comfortable sedan-like ride, spacious cabin area and big cargo room for camera paraphernalia and accessories.

“The looks of the new 2010 CR-V speaks of beauty and power. My short experience driving it to Subic only confirmed that this machine is not only beautiful but powerful as well! The CR-V hugs the road like train in its rail…so secure. It was also quiet inside that driving at 110 kph felt like I was running on 60 kph.” shared by Club EOS member, Mr. Tynn Daez.

From the official entries of the 29 Club EOS participants, entries were then trimmed down to six finalists. Find out who among the finalists bested the car photography workshop.
