 &lt;p&gt;O&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt; spin&lt;/span&gt; é uma &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;propriedade quântica&lt;/span&gt; fundamental das &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;partículas  elementares&lt;/span&gt;. Embora o termo seja usado em várias acepções, para efeitos  experimentais o spin é entendido como se fosse um&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt; minúsculo ímã&lt;/span&gt;,  apresentando uma orientação, que pode ser "para cima" ou "para baixo".&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Os termos "para cima" ou "para baixo" são convenções usadas para  representar a orientação do spin, mas o que importa é que ele pode ser  usado para &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;armazenar&lt;/span&gt; um &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;bit&lt;/span&gt; de&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt; informação&lt;/span&gt;, assumindo um valor que pode  ser &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;0&lt;/span&gt;
