Transworld 14th Annual Skateboarding Awards Of 2011

Taking place at the Avalon Hotel in Hollywood this past Saturday, February 18, was Transworld Skateboarding's award ceremony for pro skaters and their respective award categories. New Era hosted the event while Brian Schaefer and Lizard King served as the event's anchors. Strong mentions for Nyjah Huston, who won "three trophies on the night (only done before by Guy Mariano in 2008 who won the exact three categories)." Back To The Future Hoverboard March Preorder Holiday Release

We've seen the first revision of the Air Mag release last year, a concept / working hoverboard, and now Mattel is releasing a replica 1:1 from the Back to the Future 2 film, taking preorders starting in March at MattyCollector.

Finally! This totally awesome 1:1 replica of the hover board from the BTTF 2 and BTTF 3 films includes multiple whooshing sounds and will glide over most surfaces (does not actually "hover" – check back in 2015 for that feature). We'll be taking orders for it March 1 – March 20, 2012, and the final product will be shipped around November/December 2012. Because this is such a high-cost item, there will be a minimum number of orders required to go into production. If we don't receive the minimum orders, won't go into production and customers will not be charged. The price will be announced later this month. (Note: Hover board does not work on water.)

Converse Opens Santa Monica Flagship Store Customization Expierence

Converse opened its first West Coast flagship store in Santa Monica, California. The Customization Experience might prove interesting. Converse's skateboarding shoe line will be sold at the store as well as collaborations and local art designs: "Chuck Taylor All Star, Jack Purcell, All Star, Skateboarding, One Star and Converse by John Varvatos, as well as other premium footwear collaborations."

Converse has opened its first West Coast flagship store at Santa Monica, California’s The Promenade. The location— which opened its doors Saturday, February 11 and boasts a 7,000-square-feet retail experience— marks the third Converse store to open in the United States. Transworld 30th Anniversary Interviews Daewon Song Part Two

Daewon, with a raised eyebrow, humourously comments about the era where people thought that he only skated picnic tables. He also speaks about the length of a skateboarder's career, attributing right pacing combined with having fun as key factors to keep motivated and help maintain career longevity. Regarding what he might be known for Daewon says, "influencing people to stay motivated," and I think he struck the right cord with his answer. Anytime there has been a lapse or dull moment in skating between myself and friends, watching a video part with Daewon Song skating in it has never failed to inspire, motivate, and pump us up to hit the streets and parks.

For me, and I think many will agree, video combined with the perfect and finalized choice music track makes for a great segment in a skate video. Think of Michael Jackson's Billie Jean music video and imagine how much video and song together enhanced the end result that impressed upon people's mental imagery for years and still continues to do so. To this day, Daewon's ending segment in DVS' Skatemore is a prime example of the just mentioned combination and still serves as some of the best motivational skate material someone can watch.
