Went to a new spot for me Wakeshwar Lake along with Tarun Balpande, Rajendra Pradhan, Sudhanshu Kothe, Ajit Pendse, Vinod Thakur, Ganesh Budruk

After a few false turns we did reach the place. Though the numbers like anywhere else were less the species were not. Rajendra Pradhan got the first photo record of a Red-necked Bunting for the city.

4 of us, Myself, Tarun Balpande, Abhijit Deshpande and Gunesh Budruk went to see our esteemed guest from Mongolia. When we reached we were dismayed to see a lot of activity not only from the construction workers but also from a lot of picnickers who were there due to Sunday. The result being - all the Bar-headed geese were at the opposite end of the lake. Surprisingly there was not much raptor activity either

After a long long time went to Ambhazari from the seed center side. Fishing has increased to 8 to 10 hours a day and goes to the very corners of the lake, hence the migrants ducks are almost non existent :-(

However the number of species are still enouraging....

1st day of the vacations; went to test Rohan's new Nikon P100. While the camera gave good results (with birds; macro isn't really strong though) my luck with bird sightings also didn't cease.
Highlights- Osprey, Eurasian Sparrowhawk & the occasionally occurring Common Redshank.
Rather strange was the total absence of Purple Swamphens and Little Grebes.

This trip report is about the census of Great Indian Bustard. I toured with friend Netaji Chinchulakr along a route Pardi,Bhandewadi,Tarodi, Khedi' Dighori,Temasna, Kusumbi, Pandharkawda village and Umbargaon. Important sightings were Southern Grey Shrike, Barn Swallows and Pied Cuckoos.

Trip report of visit to Heronry at Empress Mill and Shukravari talao with Ajitya Joshi and Dr. Upadhyay and his daughter.
Sighting nests of Night Herons, Pond Herons, Little Egret (probable), Little Cormorant, Indian Cormorant. Many Little terns. Sighted one Grey Heron (nesting?).

I saw 3 unidentified Gulls. I am putting them as Black-headed Gulls. Nests of Kentish Plovers, Black-winged Stilts (and 10 chicks), Painted Snipe, Small Pratincoles, Red-wattled Lapwings were seen. Sighting of two Indian Coursers.

This is trip report of the birdwatchers visit to Kanhan river, Kamptee cantonment. Saw nesting colony of Blue-tailed Bee-eaters and got two dead Spotted Owlets. And a nest of Purple Sunbird. Best thing was the gathering of birdser who came in three cars and did the birding.

Paradgaon Lake - 69 birds seen

First time lucky at Paradgaon, all thanks to Mr.Tarun Balpande. Highlights were 3 Little Terns, Sirkeer Malkohas on 2 occassions and an active nest of a Yellow-crowned Woodpecker. Bar-headed Geese were spotted, which preferred staying too far away from us. No migratory waders were seen. But was rather happy to see 3 Openbills, after a long time. They nearly seem to have vanished from the city! 'Question'marked' sightings include a Crested Bunting and Zitting Cisticolas which made very brief entries, only enough to make their presence felt! :)

Myself, Tarique Sani accompanied by Tarun Balpande. The migrants are definitely less in numbers - though most of the species can be seen. We reached the backwaters of Telankhedi this time

This was one of my highest species count trip and also a very short one. Even though the species count was high the sheer number of birds was less.

Lot of fishing activity and the number of migrants are less - Unfortunately very few photographs :(

We had decided to go to Wena lake from Nimji side so see the migrants which were expected to be seen around this time of the year.

Rohan arrived with Azhar at our place in Wadi and we were soon joined by Jaimesh Thapar and his daughter Ananya. Myself, Rohan and Azhar left for Wena a bit ahead to scout for interesting things....

To our dismay Wena lake was almost barren - yes, the commoners were there but no ducks except for a few Cotton Teals and Gargneys - We did see an Eurasian Sparrow hawk flying by .

At Wena lake we were joined by Dr. Sudhansu Kothe - On Rohan's suggestion we decided to move to Zilpi to see the spot where had spotted the Amur Falcon. Along the way we caught up with Adv Anand Jaiswal and Radhika

The place is near Zilpi lake a bit secluded from the road but a haven for Raptors....

As we walked in Aasim spotted a Crested serpent eagle. The place had plenty of birds but we Nagpurians are spoilt I would say - we did not sight anything unusual - A lazy list for the day was as follows

the star of the trip was a gorgeous adult female amur falcon. other highlights were a male pallid harrier (which i was unable to photograph), a nilgai and chinkaras.

Telgoan or Salai Menda Lake - 86 birds seen

We (Tarun Balpande, Milind Gaikwad, Tarique Sani, Swati Sani and Aasim Sani) went to Salai menda lake - the first visit of this winter season. To our dismay the amount of water was very little as the dam is still not repaired - however the birds did not disappoint us. The highlight was me able to get pictures of Alexandrine Parakeets and Thick Billed flowerpecker
