Photos: Houseboy arrested for allegedly killing his boss and burning the body

2017-03-19T02:27:00.000-07:00

A young man identified as Vanwood Kofi Asante has been arrested for allegedly killing his boss, Samuel Kwabena Poku in the Ga West municipality of the Greater Accra Region.

The suspect, who is in the Custody of the Ministries Police Station and appeared before the court on Friday March 17, 2017 has accordingly confessed to killing Mr. Poku, 60.

This reportedly occurred after Mr Poku returned from his base in London to attend a friend’s funeral in Ghana and to undertake some investment projects.

Initially, the family of the deceased, based on information given to it by the suspect, had reported to the Ofankor police that Mr. Poku had gone missing.

The suspect was said to have told the family that Mr Poku left home to meet some unnamed persons who had called him for a purported meeting.

However, all efforts by his family to reach him on phone proved futile, which led to suspicion that something untoward might have happened to him.

His son then had to travel from Kumasi to Accra to inquire about what might have gone wrong. However, on Wednesday, March 15, the truth came out when the deceased’s burnt body was discovered at the Police Hospital morgue.

His charred body was said to have been discovered around Pokuase, Accra, and was sent to the hospital for an autopsy, with residents suspecting that the man might have been lynched by armed robbers.

Some neighbours of the deceased who became suspicious, caused the arrest of the houseboy for interrogation claiming that they heard the man shouting for help previously.

The case was transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters and it was learnt later upon interrogation that the suspect confessed to killing his master.

According to sources who witnessed the interrogation process, the houseboy narrated that he killed Mr Poku after a short argument.

The argument resulted from a claim by the houseboy that he had used an undisclosed amount of money to do some maintenance works in the house of his boss and wanted a refund.

But his boss only promised him GHS 1,000 which he (houseboy) claimed was too meagre. In the heat of the argument, Mr Poku had reportedly asked the suspect to pack out of his Ofankor ' house, resulting in a fight.

According to the suspect, Mr. Poku used a shovel to hit him, an aggression which he returned by using the same shovel to hit him

Muslim teenager gets abused and receives death threats after she was filmed twerking in hijab

2017-03-09T00:21:00.000-08:00

A Muslim teenager believed to be about 17 years has received death threats after a video emerged of her twerking with a masked man in the middle of a busy Birmingham city centre while passers-by gathered around to watch. In the offending video, the girl can be seen dancing and thrusting her derriere back and forth against the man's crotch while clapping and singing along.
The photo was posted on Facebook and enraged users poured their anger on her in the comments section, with most calling her names and saying she deserves to be killed, while a few people defended her and asked that she should not be judged harshly.

"Truly disgusting. Some people don't understand the meaning of the veil," one user wrote.
Later, a video emerged on YouTube of an anonymous girl, claiming to be the teenager in the footage. She was seen in the new video apologising for anyone she had offended.

She explained she had been out shopping with her friends when she came across a man playing music and she began dancing. She revealed that she had just recently started practising the religion. She also said she suffers from depression and other mental health problems which do not let her think straight sometimes.

"To all the girls that wear hijab and wear abayah, I'm sorry for disrespecting it. I've learnt from my mistake," she said, then added: "It's gone viral and I'm hurt. I want everybody to leave it alone and keep everything away. I don't want it to be how it was and I am not going to do anything like that again."

Remy Ma says she doesn't regret dissing Nicki Minaj but she's not proud of it either

2017-03-08T23:51:00.000-08:00

Remy Ma gave an extensive interview in a Facebook Live interview for Buzzfeed’s Another Round live podcast, Tuesday night at New York’s women’s club The Wing and told hosts Heben Nigatu and Tracy Clayton that she wishes she could have worked with Nicki Minaj rather than tear her up in her diss videos.

In her diss tracks, Remy accused Minaj of sleeping her way to the top, called her butt fake, and claimed other people wrote her rhymes. When Nicki Minaj didn’t respond, she dropped another track and also shared pics of Nicki Minaj in her underwear on Instagram.
In the recent interview, she says even though she doesnt regret what she did, she isn't proud of what she did.

She said:

“I do not condone or recommend the tearing down of another female.

“It just bothers me that this record that I put out where it’s literally picking apart a female went so viral, and every media outlet wants to talk about it and pick it up; I feel like we could’ve done the same thing working together. I just personally think it would’ve been so much cooler...if we came together and made something crazy. It could’ve been totally different.

I don’t regret it (shETHER), but I’m not particularly proud of it either.” She also described the process of recording the track, which set the internet on fire upon its release on February 25. According to Remy, she didn’t notice how long the recording was.
She said:

“I didn’t realize it was seven minutes until after it was done,” she joked. “Have you ever had an argument with your man where you go in and you realize after, like, I was cursing him out for the last three hours?”

“Shether”’s success was ultimately a bad sign for women in the industry. “It just bothers me that, this record that I put out, where it’s literally picking apart a female, went so viral,” she said.

“We could have done the same thing, working together. I would have liked that so much better that way.”

When asked why she didn’t team up with Minaj, Remy said:

“It wasn’t me. You can’t force somebody to do something they don’t want to do.”
