Naja Needs.....Spring Updates.

After doing a bit of Spring cleaning and closet inventory this past week I realized I seriously need to do some shopping. My wardrobe is lacking a few key pieces and major WANT items as well. I haven't been doing much shopping in the last 6 months and think it's about time to get back on the wagon. I am now on this fitness journey that I am super proud of and have actually been sticking to. I made a deal with myself, the deal is I will allow myself to buy myself something really nice and super special every 10lbs or every dress size whichever is first. The scale can be tricky so I actually much rather go by how my clothes fit rather than what the number on the scale reads. My goal is to lose around 30 pounds. I know that might sound like a lot but I actually weigh far more than people ever guess. Anywho, here a few of the items I am currently coveting.

1. Nude Strappy Sandals: They are the equivalent to a black power pump for the office in my humble opinion.....summertime MUST HAVE no question!
2. Floral Blazer: What a perfect way to update your wardrobe with a current trend that will be around for some time and can be remixed in so many ways. This blazer will serve me well on cool spring nights, crisp fall days and some layer'd up winter moments.
3. A sexy black strappy sandal: I mean how can I not have one of these in my arsenal.....smh, I am so disappointed in you Naja! (yes, I refer to myself in the 3rd person at times) This sandal will make any night out on the town this one to remember! (yes, I feel shoes have the power to do things like that)
4. White sleeveless moto vest: Preferably leather but this one is nice also. Why? Because I really, really want one. Great way to update and add some funk and flare to your summertime fits. I would put this in the same category as a black leather jacket and denim jacket/vest....it's a MUST HAVE!
5. An updated summer bag: How fun and season appropriate is this bag. Although, not completely practical for year round use it is super cute and versatile with just about any spring/summer wardrobe.
6. White Shoes: After much deliberation I have decided that I LIKE this trend. A LOT. Super crisp and fresh yet edgy this pump is a MAJOR NAJA NEED!

Mixing it up

Hey loves, hope your having a fabulous week so far, I've been sick with a nasty cold since the weekend. It could be becuase I was out in this crazy Florida weather this weekend running errands in the rain, check out my ON-THE-GO vlog HERE. I'm feel much better than before and should be 100 percent by the weekend at the latest. Here are a few pics I took a while ago. I stood in front of my closet swearing to myself I had nothing to wear like I do many days only to pull out a little bit of everything and mixing it all up. To my surprise I think it works quite well. Here we have snakeskin, stripes and brights...oh my! I feel this outfit works well because all these colors work in the same family. Navy and mustard works as a great color combo and accented with olive and snakeskin is a winning combo in my book. Sometimes you just have to mix up old pieces to breath NEW life into them. Hey dolls so I need a change in the hair department and desperately want to change up my style....I'm getting bored. It's summer time, I live in Florida so it's about to get SUPER hot and I can only do LOW maintenance. I think box braids fit the bill perfectly. What do ya'll think? Box braids have been seen all around from around the block to on the red carpet. After seeing these gorgeous ladies rock their box braids how can you not want to try this trend!

Style Is She Event Recap! Photo heavy!!

This weekend I had the pleasure of attending an event for my very special fried Neshanta. You may remember her as my first #StyleSalute feature. We actually go way back to my military days and there was no way I wasn't going to make it to her first event to support her. Once short 5 hour drive later I arrived for the first annual Style is She Fashion Face-Off event. I battled some fabulous ladies in the Battle of the Prints styling competition. How fun to go head to head with some fabulous and fierce blogger babes, I had a blast. Despite the rainy day, many fabulous ladies gathered in Chef Rob's Upscale Lounge to enjoy She-Tini's, great fashion, goodie bags, vintage styling inspiration and plain ole great company. It was a great time and I am beyond proud of my poo! Check out the pics below!

My FIT for the event was a mix of fun, florals and fierce and served double duty at camouflaging the hair I didn't feel like doing because of the rain, lol. #Win #Win

Panama City Beach Chillin'

Hey dolls, so if you haven't noticed I've moved and if you didn't know where to..... Panama City Beach, Florida. I've been here a little over a month now and I'm getting settled in nicely. I am a gov't contractor and work on a pretty niche computer program so it can require me to move a lot. I'm still single with no kids so I don't mind it and throw in the beach it sure didn't take much convincing. I live a block away from the beach and have been working on my tan! My big cuzzo told me the other day I'm lookin like a sun bathed Dominican chick in my pics, lol. I plan on spending a TON of time on the beach, there is something so theraputic about the beach for me. I always seem to have a clear head to focus on thoughts and relax and I did just that this weekend.

I admit I styled this romper with heels only for picture purposes ONLY! lol Hopefully I'll have somewhere to wear that outfit to again soon because it will surely be recylced! For the beach however, I swaped out the champray shirt for my cropped jean vest I thrifted a while back, added some neon jelly sandals, a crossbody bag and cute fedora and was out the door. I didn't take great pics of this outfit but this romper piece is perfect for taking it from chic to casual in no time.

Hey dolls, just a quickie outfit post today. I was feeling my pink Viva Glam Nicki1 lippie a whole lot this weekend, I've had it forever and have only worn it once! So sad. It definitely inspired this cutesy, girlie, pink and blue outfit. Springtime always makes me feel so fun and flirty and this dress has been screaming for me to wear it since last summer. It's lightweight material and flirty high-low hemline is perfect for these spring days. Don't be afraid to add basic, yet versatile pieces to your wardrobe dolls. This dress would be equally gorge belted or worn off the shoulder or even as a top or tunic paired with jeans and a blazer.

Vintage Finds & Remixing

Hey dolls, can we please discuss my new thrifting treasures today....If you don't mind. I mean, I'm not really a hard core true lover of thrifting. I like to thrift, sometimes....and can appreciate thrifting....most times.....but simply don't have the patience for it.....most times! There is also just something about wearing old, musty smelling clothes that someone else has had on their body that just doesn't appeal to me. However, the thrill of finding something one of a kind or exclusive at only a fraction of the full price that usually silences my inner snob. My most recent thrifting trip with my ~~intern~~ little sister Asantee was a major score in my book. Most times I get so frustrated by the racks of garbage I don't usually stick around long enough to really get in the nitty gritty to find the good stuff but Santee wanted to go thrifting so thrifting we went! I came across a MAJOR wardrobe staple I had been missing a good jean jacket and this super cute, comfy and classic Coach crossbody bag. I mean how awesome is that! I know some dolls are lucky enough to come across a dope Dior blazer or vintage Gucci bag but I don't care, I was ecstatic buy my Levi's and Coach. I can wear both pieces with endless items in my wardrobe and for about 15 bucks between the both of them you can't beat that with a baseball bat!

I love this casual look I wore this weekend to run errands and grab lunch. I haven't been doing much shopping lately since I have gained a bit of weight and hardly any of my clothes fit anymore and I simply REFUSE to buy a bigger size. I won't do it. Period. End of Story. This dress from Undeniable Boutique is the perfect piece to camoflauge my transition.

If you haven't noticed I am all about BIG hair and a BOLD lip this Spring. I have not been afraid of messy hair and being a new resident of Flordia the humidity is sure to kick my straight hair and perfect curls to the curb. If any of you dolls are Floridians please tell me how do you beat the heat and humidity down here. I know now I won't be in a full face of makeup very often! ;-)

Starting next Monday I will be launching a new feature on the blog that highlights military chicks with style. Style Salute Mondays is targeted at military women with exceptional style. This feature is open to Active Duty military, Reserves, Veterans, and spouses. Through this feature I hope to shed light on these heroic woman who not only serve this country but also serve MAJOR style off duty. This feature will highlight the feminine side of a very male dominating world that too often strips us of our individuality and femininity. This is aimed to be more than just another feature, but a movement that I hope will encourage women to embrace their personal style and celebrate their style evolution no matter what lifestyle they live. Also, you dolls will personally get to understand that beauty and style DOES exist behind the uniform.

One of the most annoying comments I would get when I separated was, “Your too pretty or stylish to have been in the military”. My reply would often be, 'Oh no hunni, don’t let the camo fool you they're some fierce ladies in the military!' They were under the impression that military women didn’t care about girlie things, that all we did was shoot guns, roll around in the dirt and act tough. Through this feature I hope to put these stereotypes to rest and allow my Diamond Dolls in arms a place to be Saluted for great Style.

Kickin It....Coachella Inspired Look

Hello lovelies!! Oh how I've missed you dolls, sorry for the long pause but I am back and I will not be leaving you dolls for that long again! Thank you for all those that reached out to me asking where I was and when I was coming back. I have had so much going on these last few months but more on that later. For now I'm coming to you today with a Coachella inspired look. I have been seeing looks from the Coachella music festival like crazy this weekend. This look I put together is my comfy, fun, and chill look that I could easily wear to the Coachella festivities. Just switch out the leggings with a cute pair of cutoff shorts and swap the jean jacket for a dope jean vest and you are good to go! After attending last year's Made In America festival in Philadelphia LAST year I am slightly obsessed with them and surely want to go this year especially since my girl Beyonce will be headlining! Hey loves, went to see the movie Oz this weekend and I must admit I didn't like it as much as I thought I would. Visually it was spectacular and seeing it in 3D was truly awesome but the plot and the acting was a bit subpar to me. I feel Johnny Depp would have been better in the main role than James Franco and Mila Kunis was soooo not believable as an angry witch IMO, her sad attempt at an evil witch laugh was almost embarrassing at times. The fashion a.k.a. the real reason I went to see the movie was good......not great. But anywho, on to other news....this is what I wore, including my OZ inspired beat face! Emotional Justice Unplugged (EJU) Season 4 is a NYC city wide conversation series aimed at teenage girls. Using the EJ process, the aim is to create a process that acknowledges and discusses how much swagger mean has and then identifies highlights, celebrates, acknowledges the power of fly in each girl. The aim is for girls to see and identify their own beauty, power, fly and to do so in each other.

Hello lovelies, long time no post! I've missed you dolls!! I'm back at it and finally feeling up to taking some pics, I've missed you dolls terribly and can't wait to get back to "blogging" business.

So for this post I'm keeping it simple with a classic color combo of blue and black mixed with a lil edge and twirl. You dolls know how much I love a twirl ;-) This coat from ASOS I scored last year is still one of my favs. The extremely flattering fit n' flare silhouette and mix of military maven and girlie fun makes for a perfect combo. I paired this look with faux leather leggings and my gorgeous Aldo Rise Collection heels. Perfect look to go run errands in on a Saturday afternoon. Hey dolls, I first want to say Thank You for all the kind comments and emails, I appreciate each and every one of them. You guys are amazing and I love you for it. This has been an extremely hard time for me and my family and I thank you guys for hanging in there with me. I'm slowly trying to pick myself up and get back to my normal routine. I know that is what my granny would want. She was soooo proud of me and even more proud of my blog and all the wonderful accomplishments this past year. 2012 has bought me some of the best of the best and worst of the worst moments in life. Between my home burning down in 2011 and losing my Heart in 2012, I know God has tons of Blessings for me in 2013. I pray.

Hello dolls! I'm a little late today posting another Holiday inspired look from my first annual Holiday Lookbook video. This look is perfect for dinner to see the nutcracker or to meet his parents. You want to keep it stylish without scaring them and sexy but not slutty and standing out without making a scene. This outfit is perfect for all those things. This polka dot peplum blouse with oxblood skirt couldn't be more on trend not to mention perfect pieces to remix separately in the future. I would totally pair this look with my grandmother's vintage fur stole to add a bit of glamour. Hope you dolls enjoy loves!

These cherry red drop earring are the perfect accent to this lady like outfit. This photo really does no justice these earrings are GORGEOUS in person!

I can't tell you dolls how much I LOVE this skirt. It hugged my curves in all the right ways and was super comfortable.

Hey loves, so I am totally in a Holiday mood these days! I'm coming to you today with very, very exciting news of a Holiday collab I have been too excited to share with you loves.
