A quick glance down the page will show you that news here on NamelessGaming has dried up since early this year. The reason behind this is solely down to myself, I very much enjoyed making the reviews and the blog for NamelessGaming and will be continuing to do so in the not too distant future however for the time being I have moved my focus to my first love in gaming which is that of Rockstar Games. Many of you may know that I am also the Creator and Webmaster for www.gtaIVlife.com, a fansite dedicated to all things Rockstar and this is where my time has been spent over the past few months. We have just received word from Rockstar themselves that tomorrow night there will be a special episode of Gametrailers TV featuring GTA IV: The Lost & Damned hosted from R*'s offices in New York.

"There will be tons of never-before-seen footage, including exclusive first glimpses of various cut scenes, gameplay and hints about what to expect from the storyline."

GameTrailers TV airs Friday night at 10PM PST / 1 AM EST on Spike TV, and is also available online at GameTrailers.com and on Xbox LIVE, iTunes and Amazon Unbox.

amBX have announced today that they have established a partnership with SCEI to bring the mood lighting system amBX to gamers. If like me you are fairly unfamiliar with amBX then allow them to explain. '

amBX had this to say on the new partnership,

Rumours confirmed as The Sims 3 is officially 'delayed'

Just don't call it a delay....

Well there have been rumours flying around the information highway for some time now that EA's The Sims 3 was to be delayed, the game was initially planned to be released on February 20th however today EA have announced that the game will indeed be pushed back to a worldwide release date of June 2nd 2009. This delay does not really come as a surprise to myself or I am sure yourselves however it is a big disappointment for fans of the series eager to get their hands on the latest open world offering. However it is not all doom and gloom as along with the delay EA were kind enough to provide us with some pretty cool looking box art the downside of which is that we will now have to wait till June before it is sitting on our shelf.

“The June launch combined with the break-through game the team is building gives us the perfect runway to create awareness for The Sims 3,” said Russell Arons, Vice President of Marketing for EA. “The Sims 3 will be the original IP summer blockbuster of 2009 as we build off the success of the best-selling PC franchise of all time to create awareness with both loyal Sims fans and new players.”

Edinburgh Interactive Festival dates set

The Edinburgh Interactive festival will take place in Edinburgh's city centre during the week of

10th - 16th August 2009. The event will continue its partnership with Abertay University.

Rockstar have recently updated the official mini site for the forthcoming DLC GTA IV: The lost & damned this update sees one new screenshot of Ashley Butler "party girl who partied too much." (pictured to the right) As well as this, a new video showcasing in game TV show Republican Space Ranger: All New Season on Weazel, and also an audio preview of the Martin Serious show coming to WKTT and also a rather funny Martin Serious message board.

An exclusive trailer for DLC lead character Johnny has surfaced on Game Trailers so we at the nameless gaming blog thought we would share it with you. Those of you who have been part of Rockstar's marketing campaigns before will be familiar with this style of character video. This one gives you a chance to get to you know your new Liberty City Biker Best friend (BBF, how very Paris Hilton.) Just a reminder that GTA IV: The lost and damned will be released exclusively on the XBOX live Market place on February 17th at a price of $19.99 (£17.99) so if you are yet to purchase your copy of GTA IV, get your skates on.

Gaming job cut confusion.

Confusion clouds the gaming industry today, as more and more developers and publishers announce their intentions to 'reconsider' & 'consolidate' staff it begs the question, if the Gaming Industry is one seemingly unaffected by the 'credit crunch' why have so many announced job cuts, cutbacks etc. you would be forgiven for thinking that a time when an Industry seeing its greatest position since it was first established should be going in the opposite direction. One incident that stands out most is Microsoft's recent decision to cut many thousands of jobs a large number of which have been in their entertainment department, one question, how can a company which has been making billions a week for as many weeks possibly justify a decision on the back of announcing record sales in exactly the department in which the proposed cut backs feature?

They are not the only ones and I am sure you have your own opinion on the matter but my point is this, in a time when the gaming industry is thriving should we not be reading stories of new jobs being created, new titles being announced etc. This is a call to publishers and developers to get their stories straight, stop with the hypocritical announcements and turn themselves around. and for you the gamer please share your thoughts on this matter, what do you want to see from companies at this time and has the 'credit crunch' affected your buying behavior.

Rule Nintendo, Nintendo rules the waves....

It may be not surprise to you or in fact any person with the simplest knowledge of the video game industry that casual games are the big money makers in today's gaming world, with developers constantly struggling with the moral dilemma of remaining faithful to hardcore gamers or bowing to convention in pursuit of riches and mass popularity with the release of casual games, and no other company have been subject to this more than the Mario creating Japanese ninty heads Nintendo, with the release of the Wii in 2006 the casual games market has boomed with gaming no longer confined to male teens in there bedroom with nothing but a giant size bag of Dortios and a 6 pack of red bull for company gaming is now for all the family to enjoy in the comfort of the living room. The main point to my little story is that whether you like it or not casual games are here to stay and just to prove it wii fit a title released over a year ago is number one yet again in the UK sales chart, fighting off competition from new comers Skate 2 & LOTR Conquest, anyway here for your enjoyment are the top 10 multi platform titles from the week ending January 24th:

$50M? what do you mean there's a credit crunch going on....

You would be forgiven when scrolling down the first page of posts here at NamelessGaming that we are posting with a Rockstar Games branded shotgun pressed to our neck however, it can't be denied that news on anything with the name Grand Theft Auto in the title is going to get attention and attention it will get. So what is now? well you may be aware by now that the lost & damned official mini-site was recently updated with a few new features included in which are these two new character videos, similar to those released in the build up to the release of GTA IV back in April, they are for Lost members Billy Grey & Malc:

SCEE have released several new Screenshots for the forthcoming Uncharted sequel Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, the screens give little information on the game and its plot however as with most things associated with Uncharted they are very pretty and certainly pleasant on the eye graphics wise, the game is due for release in Q4 this year and will be available on the Playstation 3, Enjoy:

Rockstar Games VIP Only....

A number of previews for the forthcoming Grand Theft Auto IV DLC: The Lost & Damned have been unleashed on the world wide web. Although we were not able to carry out a preview ourselves a quick look around the usually suspects sites will get you what you want. The various previews give a good insight into what XBOX 360 gamers can expect when the content is released for $19.99 next month. Along with the previews come a number of new screens which can be found below, and a website update including some new videos and some more information on purchasing the content and what we can expect from it. GTA: The lost & damned will be the first of two DLC packages with the second expected before the year is out.

The guys at Rockstar have just sent us an the achievement list for Grand Theft Auto: The lost and damned, it Consists of 5 new achievements and offers players 250 new points. As well as this they have also provided us with an exclusive screenshot featuring the bad ass himself, Johnny:

Take a picture it will last longer....

The latest firmware update for Playstation 3 is due for release tomorrow (January 21st) update 2.60 will bring DivX 3.11 support and also a pretty cool looking photo gallery application which will allow for new and exciting ways to view photos on your console, apart from this no major surprises but some positive stuff from Sony and certainly worth installing the photo gallery as at only 100MG will not be clogging up your PS3 anytime soon, anyway to explain further check out the video below:

GTA V: Tokyo coming 2009?

Turning Japanese I think I'm turning Japanese....

Rumours have been spreading like wild fire of late about the possibility of a new GTA title being released in 2009. And the latest comes in the form of GTA V taking place in Tokyo a post in game informer states that a new GTA title is likely before 2009 is out of course taking into account the two planned DLC's for XBOX 360. Similar to GTA Vice city which was released within a year if GTA III this is not uncommon as now a new GTA title would be a lot easier fo Rockstar to develop due to there familiarity with the consoles and as they found out at the expense of a 6 month delay the hardwares drawbacks. No official word yet on these rumours however if they do turn out to be true we are sure to hear about it fairly soon.

UPDATE: We have just heard back from the guys at R* NYC and they claim to have no idea where the rumour has come from and have no information or plans as yet beyond China Town Wars & Lost & Damned.

DS gets first 18 rated title....

It's a long way from mario....

Rockstar games are all about first and pushing limits and today sees yet another, GTA China Town wars due for release on the Nintendo DS this march is to become the first DS title to carry an 18 certificate from the BBFC. The game currently being developed by Rockstar Leeds & North contains 168 minutes of in game cut scenes and also contains 'very strong language' and 'drug references', no surprises there then. It is also noted that the game needed no cuts to gain a british rating. To view the titles full rating at the BBFC click here.

PS3 Home, It's in the game....

EA have announced that they are working on some custom spaces for PS3 Home beta. The first EA have planned is the EA Sports Complex which they are currently working on and plan to launch this spring. "We're proud to support the Playstation Home Beta with a very robust offering from EA Sports" said Peter Moore, president of EA SPORTS. I am fairly sure EA are to be the first of many developers to jump on board especially after they find out that people are actually paying £0.79 for a single virtual t-shirt.

Ghostbusters: The Video Game coming after all....

I ain't afraid of no ghosts....

The Ex Vivendi title which for some time was privy to speculation form all angles about the title facing the axe has today been bought back from the flames, well ok maybe it was not that dramatic but, good news all the same. Atari have announced that the title will eventually be released on 19th June as the original film celebrates its 25th Anniversary. Sony Pictures have also announced that the film will be released on blu-ray at this time again in celebration of the films 25th.

The Godfather II hits March....

Oh, this is too violent for me....

EA & Paramount Digital Entertainment have today announced that the Godfather II will be released for XBOX 360, PS3 & PC on March 6th 2009. The game will see you take the role of a don, able to build and customize you criminal family. The game will take place in an open world environment with of course the aim being for your criminal family to become the most influential and most powerful in America. Niko 'Clay' Bellic....

They don't teach this in art school....

Known as Kalapusa, a myspace user has created a very realistic well put together clay model of Niko Bellic the main protagonist in GTA IV in his signature fingerless gloved pose. Unfortunately the model is a one off and there appear to be no plans from Rockstar to produce similar models themselves. "Measuring at about 8 inches, is finally done. Basing it on a familiar promo shot, I used Sculpey clay, a metal skeleton made of screws (needles for finger bones.) and acrylic paint."

Blu-ray sales Booming....

I'm dreaming of a Blu Christmas....

New stats released by the British Video Association show that sales of Blu-ray movies over December have increased by 400%! compared to the same period last year. According to the BVA 1.5 million Blu-ray movies were shifted in the UK. through December with the highest Blu-ray seller being The Dark Knight with sales 281,000. However Blu-ray sales still have a long way to go if they plan on outselling DVD's Mamma Mia managed sales of 3 million in its first week alone here in the UK. Although not a fact it is clear that the increase in Blu-ray sales is linked to the number of Playstation 3's being sold, giving players not only a fantastic game console but also a top notch Blu-ray player to boot.
