I usually make rough 3D mockups for icons when they are going to be in a complex angle, and my luck the iPhone dimensions are very easy to find on the internet. I loaded this info into the 3D app and modeled the basic geometry of the 1st generation iPhone. When done I sent it to my friend Dan Wiersema for a quick review. When Dan saw it (he didn’t know my process at the time) he almost instantly said: “It’s a little bulky!”

Why is it bulky? I made it accurately, in perfect real world proportions…

Well, it was bulky. The 1st generation iPhone is bulky, especially when seen at some angles, so I had do slim it down a bit.

Everything comes to an end”. I don’t know where I got the line, but I believe it is one of life’s absolute truths, along with: “For every end, there’s a new beginning”.

For the last 19 months I’ve been working full-time at Guifx. It was a great experience and I’ve made some great friends. Now it’s time to start over, or rather, pick up where I left off prior to joining Guifx. It’s kinda scary, freelancing again (so much changed), but it’s also very exciting.

The immediate change is that now I can work on new exciting projects (you can hire me right now!). I also made a few slight changes to this site to reflect these changes in my life.

With time even this new phase of my life will come and go, and I’m ready for whatever will be next!
