The Story Behind the Name

Many people approach us and are curious to know what the name nangu means. This question cannot be answered in just one sentence, so sit back and read on. Nangu is a small fish, only about 5 inches long, that lives in East African lakes, but it has the potential to grow to 10, 12, even 16 inches in length. It is quite compatible with other fish in its waters and very self-sufficient. The Nangu can become mildly aggressive among similar species, so there is one that generally dominates as an alpha male.

However, you may wonder, how this fish is in any way connected to TV. Well, in Zulu, the African language, nangu means here it is. nangu TV literally means here is TV. How appropriate we though, considering we are coming out with innovative ways to watch TV. So, here it is.

Now back to the fish. To be honest, the fish is quite ugly. We liked the idea of a fish anyway and used it for our logo image. The entire fish image is made simply out of the symbols Play, Pause, Play. Do you see it? That is the most basic explanation of what we do with TV. Even while watching live television, you can push pause, take care of your business, and then press play again to resume where you left off. You do not miss any of the content, even when live TV is still moving forward.

So why then, do we claim to be The Most Wanted Fish? We are comprehensive and reliable. Easy as that. Comprehensive, because we provide a complete solution. We provide everything in between the head end (the content is supplied by the owner) and the end user (the person watching on his device). Reliable, because we truly deliver 24/7 service, meaning someone is monitoring the product at all times, even catching the problems before the customer reports them.

Being an ugly fish with dark stripes for camouflage only means a great advantage for the customer. As a white label product, customers can offer IPTV and OTT services under a different brand and customize the front end and skin as they please, to fit their company style.

As we grow and swim to deeper waters, we find ourselves among many other fish. No matter the circumstances, we will continue to provide above average service so that we do stand out among the rest.

Real-time Chat for Ops

I am very pleased to announce new tool in our toolbox. We have been missing a way of real-time written electronic communication among multiple people during complex tasks, such as platform upgrades. Our ops is typically using jabber for communication with customers. But the limitation is that normal message flow is just between to parties.

Welcome the MUC – Multi-User Chat at nangu.TV. We are using rock-solid ejabberd for hosting the rooms. We have crafted management web-interfaces. So you will see addresses as following in the tickets or emails asking you to join the conversation. We envision their use as a logbooks as well – so during the upgrade, our ops will post regularly the updates about the process.

I can see more feature coming, if this turns out to be successful. E.g. automated log attachment to the tickets etc.

For now, you can enjoy a test room available at http://chat.nangu.tv/behizobaje
