Malaysia Airlines will commence daily Airbus A380 service on the Kuala Lumpur to Hong Kong route effective 1 May 2013. The 494-seater super jumbo will be replacing one of the current B737-800 double daily services on this route. Flight MH72 from Kuala Lumpur will now depart at 9.15am and arrive Hong Kong at 1.05pm, while MH73 from Hong Kong leaves at 2.45pm and arrives in Kuala Lumpur at 6.25pm.

With super deals from only RM380 one-way and RM760 return all-inclusive, customers can now experience refined travel on Malaysia Airlines’ A380 Economy Class which comprises a total of 420 seats. 350 seats are located on the main deck and 70 on the upper deck. Turkish Airlines flies to Kuala Lumpur …

Istanbul, Turkey

Turkish Airlines has added Kuala Lumpur to its route map…

From 25 April 2013, the Istanbul-based carrier will start operating three weekly flights to the Malaysian capital, with services departing every Monday, Thursday and Saturday. This frequency will be increased to four flights per week from 17 June 2013, with the addition of a Wednesday service.

All services will be operates using the airline’s Airbus A340 aircraft, departing Istanbul’s Ataturk International Airport at 0115 and arriving into KL at 1650. The return leg will depart Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 2315, arriving back into Turkey’s largest city at 0535 the following day.

With the addition of Kuala Lumpur, Turkish Airlines will fly to 222 flight destinations in 98 countries. The Malaysian capital also becomes Turkish’s fifth destination in Southeast Asia, following Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, Jakarta and Singapore.

9 Things That May Disappear In Our Lifetime

Whether these changes are good or bad depends in part on how we adapt to them. But, ready or not, here they come.

1. The Post Office

Get ready to imagine a world without the post office. They are so deeply in financial trouble that there is probably no way to sustain it long term. Email, Fed Ex, and UPS have just about wiped out the minimum revenue needed to keep the post office alive. Most of your mail every day is junk mail and bills.

2. The Cheque

Britain is already laying the groundwork to do away with cheque by 2018. It costs the financial system billions of dollars a year to process cheques. Plastic cards and online transactions will lead to the eventual demise of the cheque. This plays right into the death of the post office. If you never paid your bills by mail and never received them by mail, the post office would absolutely go out of business

3. The Newspaper

The younger generation simply doesn't read the newspaper. They certainly don't subscribe to a daily delivered print edition. That may go the way of the milkman and the laundry man. As for reading the paper online, get ready to pay for it. The rise in mobile Internet devices and e-readers has caused all the newspaper and magazine publishers to form an alliance. They have met with Apple, Amazon, and the major cell phone companies to develop a model for paid subscription services

4. The Book

You say you will never give up the physical book that you hold in your hand and turn the literal pages. I said the same thing about downloading music from iTunes. I wanted my hard copy CD. But I quickly changed my mind when I discovered that I could get albums for half the price without ever leaving home to get the latest music. The same thing will happen with books. You can browse a bookstore online and even read a preview chapter before you buy. And the price is less than half that of a real book. And think of the convenience! Once you start flicking your fingers on the screen instead of the book, you find that you are lost in the story, can't wait to see what happens next, and you forget that you're holding a gadget instead of a book.

5. The Land Line Telephone

Unless you have a large family and make a lot of local calls, you don't need it anymore. Most people keep it simply because they've always had it. But you are paying double charges for that extra service. All the cell phone companies will let you call customers using the same cell provider for no charge against your minutes.

6. Music

This is one of the saddest parts of the change story. The music industry is dying a slow death. Not just because of illegal downloading. It's the lack of innovative new music being given a chance to get to the people who would like to hear it. Greed and corruption is the problem. The record labels and the radio conglomerates are simply self-destructing. Over 40% of the music purchased today is "catalogue items," meaning traditional music that the public is familiar with. Older established artists. This is also true on the live concert circuit. 7. Television

Revenues to the networks are down dramatically. Not just because of the economy. People are watching TV and movies streamed from their computers. And they're playing games and doing lots of other things that take up the time that used to be spent watching TV. Prime time shows have degenerated down to lower than the lowest common denominator. Cable rates are skyrocketing and commercials run about every 4 minutes and 30 seconds. I say good riddance to most of it. It's time for the cable companies to be put out of our misery. Let the people choose what they want to watch online and through Netflix.

8. The "Things" That You Own

Many of the very possessions that we used to own are still in our lives, but we may not actually own them in the future. They may simply reside in "the cloud." Today your computer has a hard drive and you store your pictures, music, movies, and documents. Your software is on a CD or DVD, and you can always re-install it if need be. But all of that is changing. Apple, Microsoft, and Google are all finishing up their latest "cloud services." That means that when you turn on a computer, the Internet will be built into the operating system. So, Windows, Google, and the Mac OS will be tied straight into the Internet. If you click an icon, it will open something in the Internet cloud. If you save something, it will be saved to the cloud. And you may pay a monthly subscription fee to the cloud provider. In this virtual world, you can access your music or your books, or your whatever from any laptop or handheld device. That's the good news. But, will you actually own any of this "stuff" or will it all be able to disappear at any moment in a big "Poof?" Will most of the things in our lives be disposable and whimsical? It makes you want to run to the closet and pull out that photo album, grab a book from the shelf, or open up a CD case and pull out the insert.

9. Privacy

If there ever was a concept that we can look back on nostalgically, it would be privacy. That's gone. It's been gone for a long time anyway. There are cameras on the street, in most of the buildings, and even built into your computer and cell phone. But you can be sure that 24/7, "They" know who you are and where you are, right down to the GPS coordinates, and the Google Street View. If you buy something, your habit is put into a zillion profiles, and your ads will change to reflect those habits. "They" will try to get you to buy something else. Again and again.

All we will have left that can't be changed are "Memories"....

And then probably Alzheimer's will take that away from us too !

Hong Kong - A Muslim-friendly destination

Hong Kong has been home to a vibrant Muslim community for more than a century. Today, there is an estimate of 220,000 Muslims* amidst Hong Kong’s 7 million population. Muslim visitors will feel welcomed from the moment they enter the country to conducting their daily religious duties. There is also a range of restaurants throughout the city that serve Halal food, with Halal Restaurant Certificate issued by the Incorporated Trustees of the Islamic Community Fund of Hong Kong.

In its ongoing effort to attract Muslim tourists, Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) recently co-hosted a Hong Kong Muslim Workshop with Hong Kong tour operator, Uni Asia Tours, to update the local trade members on the latest tourism developments in Hong Kong and showcase its Muslim-friendly facilities and services. Among those present were Hong Kong trade partners such as Big Bus Tours, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, Ocean Park Hong Kong, Cosmo Mongkok Hotel, Cosmopolitan Hotel, Regal Airport Hotel and Mufti Haji Muhammad Arshad, the Chief Imam of Hong Kong and Chief Imam of Kowloon Mosque, was also present at the workshop to share some of the key facilities catered for the Muslim community.

Hong Kong's Chief Imam Mufti Haji Muhammad Arshad shared in his presentation, "Amongst the amenities and attractions catered to Muslim visitors are Hong Kong's major mosques and there are also restaurants throughout the city which serve Halal cuisine such as Indian, Pakistani, Middle Eastern, Western and Chinese." The briefing aims to provide the local trade members in Malaysia a better understanding on the Muslim friendly's facilities in Hong Kong and share insights to assist them to cater to their Muslim clients' needs in tour planning to Hong Kong.

To cater to the needs of Muslim travellers to Hong Kong, HKTB has launched a revamped Muslim Guide. This handy guide introduces the places to visit, halal restaurants and information on mosques around Hong Kong. With this guidebook, Muslim visitors can be assured of the convenience and minimise the language barrier when in Hong Kong.

Masjid Jamia
If you are in the vicinity of the Central Mid-Levels escalator, make a trip to the oldest mosque in Hong Kong. Nowhere in Asia can compare with Malaysia when it comes to street food, and although the capital, Kuala Lumpur, is a foodie paradise, ask Malaysians themselves where is the best place to eat, and the unanimous answer will be the tropical island of Penang, and in particular, George Town, a seething, authentic Chinatown. The stalls here are a gourmet kaleidoscope reflecting Malaysia's colourful ethnic mix – as well as offering delicious Malay and Indian cuisine, Penang is unparalleled for the diversity and quality of its regional cooking. You eat well and cheaply everywhere in Penang, but here are 10 places really worth discovering.

1. Char Koay Teow Stall

Char koay teow (stir-fried rice noodles) is the iconic Penang street food dish, copied all over Malaysia, but never tastes better than sitting at a low pavement table outside a hawker stall in one of George Town's narrow back streets. Lean Joo Sean has been setting up outside the Sin Guat Keong coffee shop at 5.30pm every day since 1954. You can't miss him with his tall white chef's hat and the clouds of smoke that billow up each time he fires his wok over a flaming charcoal fire. A plate costs 3.40 Malaysian ringgit (about 70p), and he cooks right through till midnight as a steady queue forms for these exquisite fried noodles, prepared to a secret recipe that includes fresh mantis prawns. • 86 Kimberley Street

2. De Tai Tong Cafe

Dim sum is traditionally served for breakfast but at this historic teahouse, in the heritage shophouses of Chinatown, they open for lunch and dinner too. Tai Tong maintains the traditions of dim sum, not just with the variety of its menu, but still employing elderly ladies to push metal trolleys loaded with goodies around the tables. Many customers won't even wait for the trolley to arrive and crowd round the grumpy waitresses picking up plates (around 40p each) of har gow (shrimp dumplings) and chee cheong fun (rice flour rolls filled with barbecued pork). Don't miss the lor mai gai (glutinous rice cooked with chicken, black mushroom and savoury chinese sausage), and for anyone with a sweet tooth, end the meal with a sinful, bright yellow egg tart of creamy egg custard in crisp pastry. • 45 Lebuh Cintra

3. Kedai Kopi Sin Hwa

The Sin Hwa coffee shop, within walking distance of one of Asia's longest reclining Buddha statues, is renowned for its claypot noodles and duck egg koay teow, but the stall with the longest line is for the 60p bowl of assam laksa. People come from all over the island for this delicious dish. Ask for laksa in most of Malaysia and you will be served a bowl of curry laksa, cooked with a rich coconut milk sauce. This classic Nyonya (Chinese-Malay cooking) dish is very different in Penang though, as the Straits Chinese developed their own fusion version called assam laksa, a tart, hot and sour interpretation. The base is an intense fish soup, flavoured with tamarind, ginger flower, galangal, pungent belacan prawn paste, refreshing sprigs of mint and sliced shallots.

4. Zealand Seafood

Gurney Drive was once the preferred residence of Penang's Chinese millionaires, who built grandiose mansions for themselves with splendid views over the sea. Today, most of the mansions have been replaced with towering luxury condos, but this long waterside promenade remains one of the most popular places for Penangites to eat seafood, and at night the streets are jammed with traffic. But come in the morning when the joggers and tai chi enthusiasts are out, and try Malaysia's most unusual but delicious breakfast, bak-kut-teh. The chefs brew a rich pork and herbal broth for hours, then serve the soup with pork ribs, succulent mushrooms, tofu and fried dough; serious foodies can ask for intestines and offal to be added too. 5. New Lane Satay Stall

Satay is the street dish most closely associated with Malaysia, and as it is usually cooked at Muslim Malay stalls, this automatically means beef or chicken satay. But the Chinese love pork satay, and although this is becoming increasingly rare in the rest of the country, Penang still has many hawkers. Ngiom Far Luan has been cooking satay for more than 30 years just outside the Maxim Cafe on New Lane. Her secret is in the way she fans the flames and uses charcoal, which gives the meat a unique smoky taste. A stick costs less than 20p, so order a dozen. New Lane is a street food paradise with about 50 stalls serving hokkien mee (stir-fried noodles), popiah (fresh spring rolls), ikan bakar (chargrilled fish, often stingray, on a banana leaf) and lots more.

6. Restoran Kassim Mustafa

Lebuh Chulia is the classic meeting point for backpackers passing through Penang, lined with bars, restaurants and budget hostels. Kassim Mustafa is an airy, family-run corner cafe, open 24 hours a day, which for 30 years has been serving classic mamak cuisine – Indian Muslim cooking with a strong Malaysian influence. For a first visit, try their nasi kandar, biryani rice with a couple of wickedly spicy curries – squid, chicken or beef – that will cost around £2. 7. Chee Cheong Jook Congee stall

Porridge in Penang has nothing to do with breakfast; it refers to congee, a milky rice porridge that can be eaten at any time of the day with an incredible variety of things – most commonly fish or pork, seasoned with tangy preserved vegetables, chives, Chinese vinegar and century eggs. But this tiny stall, just off the Chowrasta Street food market, is for serious fans of nose-to-tail cuisine, as the ingredients feature crispy pork intestines, innards from the stomach to the tongue, all hanging up on a neat line ready for chopping, and even pig-blood cakes. The friendly cook, who has been here 35 years, is always delighted when a tourist dares sit down, and at just 50p a bowl it is worth a try.

8. Weld Quay Restaurant

Eating seafood can be relatively expensive in Penang, but not if you discover this favourite local haunt hidden away on the busy harbour road, right by the ferry terminal. Also known as the Tree Shade restaurant, because a huge tree has been left growing in the middle of the entrance, this looks at first like a fishmongers, with trays of exotic fish, live crabs and prawns displayed on mounds of dripping ice, alongside an open kitchen lined with blazing woks. The idea is you choose what you want to eat, how you want it cooked and what the price will be, then head into the restaurant at the back. For around £5-£6 a head, you can try a main course of pomfret steamed with ginger, black pepper prawns or chilly crabs, accompanied by rice and a vegetable dish. • 21 Pengkalan Weld

9. Townview Seafood Cafe

With its huge red neon crab outside, and the wriggling fish and strange-looking crustaceans swimming around huge aquariums, it's not hard to guess the speciality here. But in the open-air entrance is also a brilliant self-service buffet serving a Chinese version of the traditional Malay nasi campur ("mixed rice" topped with various meats, vegetables, peanuts, eggs and fried-shrimp) – you can choose from crispy pork belly, chilli lala clams, fish cakes, and kai-lan (a leaf vegetable) in oyster sauce. 10. Sup Hameed

Open from the early morning till the early hours of the night, Hameed's is great to start the day with a freshly-made roti canai (Indian-influenced flatbread) dunked in a spicy fish curry or a thicker, doughy murtabak stuffed with chicken. At lunchtime the kitchen serves old planter specials such as homemade oxtail soup. Located near Penang's bar and club quarter, Hameed's hots up after midnight, where its comfort beef and mutton soups are popular – try a bowl of the supposedly aphrodisiac beef sup torpedo, popularised by Anthony Bourdain on his TV series – well worth it for around £1.

AS PART of a strategic move to align service standards with Philippine Airlines (PAL), Airphil Express is now officially PAL Express, effective March 15. PAL Express will don PAL’s sunriser livery and logo on its tail and fuselage, and offer passengers full service including free refreshments, reading materials, etc.

The carrier’s frontline staff are undergoing training to ensure PAL and PAL Express customers receive the same standards of service. Policies, procedures and standards are also being adjusted.

However, a press statement said the two carriers “will remain distinct and independent airline companies”.

Ramon S Ang, president, PAL, said of PAL Express’ rebranding: “It’s not just a name change, but an alignment of two standards into one. With this rebranding, PAL and PAL Express will be full-service carriers in terms of service, but LCC in terms of managing costs.”

Domestic Tourism Dominates MATTA Fair

Domestic tourism plays a major role in the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Fair, the much-awaited event for Malaysian travellers, said its president, Datuk Mohd Khalid Harun. Therefore, the three- day, 35th MATTA Fair which begins this Friday, offers a variety of domestic tourism packages, besides international packages.

“This time, MATTA Fair will have a total of 1,100 booths filling up 25,000 square metres of space at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC). The Matta Fair gets bigger and bigger every year, with more emphasis on domestic tourism,” said Mohd Khalid. He said this in a joint press conference with Tourism Malaysia, Malaysia Airlines and Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) at KL Sentral here today.

Elaborating on domestic tourism, Tourism Malaysia director-general Datuk Mirza Mohammad Taiyab said a survey for 2011 found that the percentage of Malaysians travelling within the country and to international destination was about the same. Tourism Malaysia’s survey showed that in 2011, Malaysians made a total of 131 million trips within the country, and this generated RM42 billion. “If we divide the number of trips to 27 million Malaysian population, this means each Malaysian made four to five trips within Malaysia in 2011,” he added.

Malaysia Airlines regional senior vice-president (Malaysia and Asean) Muzammil Mohamad said the airlines offered airfares with discounts of up to 47 per cent off normal market fares for domestic travel. “In addition, our holidays marketing arm, MasHolidays, offers many types of holiday packages for both Malaysian domestic, as well as international destinations,” he said, adding that flights to Sabah operated as usual.

Brief Introduction of Thai Smile Air

Thai Smile Air is an airline in Thailand, operated by Thai Airways International.

On 20 May 2011, the Thai Airways board announced plans to create a new lower-cost airline, at the time dubbed Thai Wings.The creation of the airline was announced by Ampon Kittiampon, the chairman of Thai's board of directors, on 19 August 2011. It is planned to begin operations in July 2012.

Thai Smile is intended to serve the market gap between low-cost carriers and full service airlines.The name Thai Smile was chosen from a pool of 2,229 entries in a contest to name the airline.

According to an official at Thai Airways International, Thai Smile is planned to begin showing an annual profit of about five million baht within two years of the start of operations.

Anuradhapura – a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the north central part of the Island was the first capital (5th century BC - 9th century AD), the centre of the island's Buddhist civilization and undoubtedly the grandest city of ancient Sri Lanka. In antiquity and the interest, it is the equal of any ancient 'buried city' in the world. The oldest historically documented tree on earth (over 2,200 years old) - The Sri Maha Bodhi , brought as a sapling of the tree under which the Buddha attained enlightenment, and the island's oldest Buddhist shrines - some dating back to the 3rd century BC, impressive white 'dagabas ' (relic chambers) and monuments embellished with handsome stone carvings or sculpture, pleasure gardens, beautifully executed stone baths and ponds and a superb irrigation system of reservoirs and canals are the main attractions of Anuradhapura. Specific places to visit are - the Brazen Palace (2^nd century B.C.), with 1600 significant stone columns are the remains of a magnificent multi-storied residence for monks – an engineering marvel at the time, Ruwanweli Seya (2^nd century B.C ) the most famous of all the dagoba’s , originally depicted the perfect water-bubble shape that modern restoration has not been able to accurately reproduce, Samadhi Buddha (3^rd century B.C.) regarded as the finest rock sculpture in the island - depicting the Buddha in a state of deep meditation, Isurumuniya rock temple (3^rd century B.C.) known for its rock carving of the “Lovers”, Kuttam Pokuna , twin ponds (3^rd century B.C.) which were used by monks of this glorious era as a bathing pool. Thuparama (3rd century B.C.), the oldest dagoba in the island – enshrines the right collarbone of Buddha, Ratnaprasada with the best preserved Guard Stone, Mahasena’s Palace with its renowned Moonstone, Abayagiri and Jetevanarama – a huge dagoba said to the largest brick built structure in the world.

Dambulla – located in the north central province this UNESCO World Heritage Site which dates back to the 01st century BC, is an amazing complex of 05 caves, first used as a refuge by an ancient king who on regaining his throne, commissioned magnificent carved images within the living rock. Later kings made further improvements and the caves contain over 150 images of the Buddha of which the largest is a colossal figure spanning 15 meters. Cave inscriptions from the 2^nd Century BC are found and on the walls are many paintings most of which belong to the Kandy period (early 19^th century). This temple is a perfect location to view evolution of ancient Sri Lankan art and is an important historical site due to the amalgamation of the material from many eras.

Kandy – a lovely exotic city, the Hill Capital and last stronghold of the Sinhala Kings is a UNESCO World Heritage Site which retains an aura of grandeur, time has not affected. Encircled by hills, with a tranquil lake in its centre, it is the site of the renowned temple that enshrines the Tooth Relic of the Buddha and the Royal Botanical gardens – home to one of the world’s best collections of Orchids. A cultural sanctuary where many legends, traditions and folklore are still lovingly kept alive, Kandy and its satellite villages are the centre of the islands handicraft industry (items of wood, brass & silver) exquisite silver or gold jewellery and precious gems of many varieties including the world’s best blue and star sapphires. The highlight of the city’s calendar is the Esala Perahera , when a replica of the casket enclosing the Tooth is taken in procession for ten glittering nights in July/August by exotically costumed dancers, drummers and approximately 100 Elephants.

Sigiriya – this UNESCO World Heritage Site, a spectacular Rock Fortress, is one of Sri Lanka’s major attractions. The most impressive facets of the unique complex are the Water Gardens, the Frescoes of beautiful maidens, the Mirror Wall with ancient graffiti, the Lion platform and the Summit of 1.6 hectares, which was completely covered by buildings during the period of Sigiriya’s glory. Built by King Kashyapa (477-495 A.D), the “Lion Rock” is a citadel of unusual beauty rising 200m from the scrub jungle. The rock was the innermost stronghold of the 70 hectare fortified town and the base is ringed by a moat, rampart, and extensive gardens. The world-renowned frescoes (originally 500, of which only 19 remain today) which are in a sheltered pocket of the rock approached by a spiral stairway are painted in earth pigments on plaster. The old stairway to the top led through the mouth of a crouching lion but today only the huge paws remain giving an indication of the massive proportions of the head. Remains of the handsome royal citadel are on the summit and several caves for meditation, audience platforms and baths complete the unique site.

Sinharaja Forest Reserve – one of the least disturbed and biologically unique primary lowland rain forests in Sri Lanka, covering an extent of over 11000 hectares. Of international significance and declared a Man and Biosphere Reserve (MAB) in 1978 when UNESCO included it in its international network of Biosphere reserves. It was subsequently designated a National wilderness area in 1988 and received full status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1989. Situated in the lowland wet zone of the country with an average temperature of 23.6C and an annual rainfall of more than 2500mm the high level of endemism makes it an international rarity. More than 60% of the trees are endemic and it is home to over 50% of Sri Lanka's endemic species of mammals and butterflies, as well as many kinds of insects, reptiles and rare amphibians. Of Sri Lanka's endemic birds, all 22 rainforest species are seen here, including the elusive Red-faced Malkoha, Green-billed Coucal and Sri Lanka Blue Magpie.

Polonnaruwa – this medieval city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, rose to fame as the capital (10th - 12th century AD) after the decline of Anuradhapura. The entire landscape of the region is punctuated by huge man-made reservoirs, the most famous of which is the Parakrama Samudra or the Sea of Parakrama, larger in size than the Colombo harbour. The monuments are relatively well preserved and give clear evidence of the glory of Sri Lanka's past. Highlights are the Royal Palace complex including the Kings Palace and Audience Hall, the Quadrangle with its concentration of ancient heritage and the spectacular Gal Vihare complex of four massive images of the Buddha, cut from a single slab of granite - a highlight of ancient Sri Lankan rock carving. Some of the best examples of the Hindu influence – the Temples of Shiva, intricate statues of Hindu Gods, fascinating Budhist temples, the Lankatileka and Watadage, the Galpotha, the Lotus bath, the Kiri Vihare Dagoba and the remains of a former Temple of the Tooth are other impressive sights.

Galle – said to be the famous Tarshish of the Bible where King Solomon obtained gems and spices, this “Living” UNESCO World Heritage Site is the port where the Portuguese first landed in Sri Lanka in 1505. Captured and fortified by the Dutch who ruled maritime Sri Lanka in the 17th and 18th centuries, the city still retains the air of old Holland. Within the well preserved 90 acre fort and ramparts built in 1663 are Old Dutch churches and monuments with armorial bearings, an imposing crested and monogrammed gateway dated 1669, many well preserved Old Dutch houses and narrow alleys still bearing Dutch names. The New Oriental Hotel, built for a Dutch governor in 1684, a colonial gem now converted to the internationally renowned Amangalle Hotel and several other excellent boutique hotels are testimony to the importance of this location.

Malaysia Airlines (MAS) is now offering value fares for travellers via the Malaysia Airlines Travel Fair (MATF), and in commemoration of its entry into the oneworld alliance on Feb 1. Attractive fares to various new and existing destinations up for grabs through the promotion which is available until Feb 11, for travel from now until Nov 30, 2013.

MAS Regional Senior Vice President Malaysia and Asean Region, Muzammil Mohamad said the MATF is designed for avid travellers, looking for good offers to plan their yearly travels. "Now, with the addition of the oneworld offers, an extensive range of alliance fares are also available. This automatically enables customers to fly on multiple airlines with attractive savings on regular published fares," he said in a statement.

The offers cover economy and business class fares to various Malaysian domestic destinations and international destinations in North Asia, China, Australia and New Zealand, North America and Europe. An all-in return fare for flights to Bali from Kuala Lumpur starts from only RM679 on economy class and RM2,179 on business class, and Bangkok from as low as RM509 on economy class travel and starting from only RM1,579 on business class. Customers can enjoy the Chinese New Year holidays in Kunming, China, with an all-in return fare that starts from only RM1,199 on economy class and RM2,979 on business Class. MAS is also mounting four extra flights on this route for the holiday season.

The MATF is also offering wonderful fares for the South Asia destinations. Customers can fly to Chennai from Kuala Lumpur for an all-in return fare as low as RM1,169 on economy Class and RM2,239 on business class. Over at North Asia and China, the all-in return fare from Kuala Lumpur to Sapporo via Tokyo starts from only RM2,730 on economy class and RM6,630 on business class. Bhutan - Travel Tips And Requirement

Tourists can book a package holiday to Bhutan through both International and Bhutanese local tour operators. Information is available from travel agencies.

The Royal Government of Bhutan sets minimum selling prices for packages to Bhutan and this must be paid in US dollars prior to arrival in Bhutan.

Daily Tariff

The minimum tariff for tourist visiting in a group of 3 persons or more are as follows:

High Season Tariff – USD$ 250 per person per night for the months of March, April, May, September, October, and November.

Low Season Tariff – USD$200 per person per night for the months of January, February, June, July, August, and December.

The minimum price includes:
All internal taxes and charges (including the royalty)
Accommodation
All Meals
All travel with a licensed Bhutanese Tour Guide
All Internal Transport
Camping Equipment and Haulage for Trekking Tours

The rates given above are applicable per tourist per night halt in Bhutan. On the day of departure, the ‘local agents’ host obligation shall be limited to breakfast only and any extra requirements shall be payable on actual basis.

The rates shall apply uniformly irrespective of locations and the type of accommodation provided/asked for. List of hotels and lodges approved for international tourist accommodation updated from time to time shall be issued by TCB.

Surcharges

Individual tourists and smaller groups of less than three persons shall be subject to surcharge, over and above the minimum daily rates applicable, as follows:

Single individual US$ 40 per night
Group of 2 persons US$ 30 per person per night

The surcharge will not be applicable to representatives of foreign travel agents on business study or promotional visit duly approved and cleared by TCB.
Discounts

a) With effect from 01/07/2009, the government has revoked the 25% discount on Diplomatic visas.
b) There shall be no charge for CHILDREN up to the age of 5 years. However, those between the ages of 6-12 years accompanied by elders/ guardians shall be given 50% discount on daily rates and 100% discount on Royalty.
c) Full time STUDENTS below the age of 25 years holding valid identity cards from their academic institutions shall also be given a 25% discount on daily rates.
d) A discount of 50% on daily rates shall be given to one person in a group of 11 to 15 people. 100% discount shall be given to one member in a group exceeding 16 persons.
e) 50%discount on Royalty shall be provided after the 8th night and 100% discount on Royalty shall be provided after the 14th night.
f) Visitors availing discounts under Sections A, B & C shall not be eligible for discount under E.

Detailed information on Druk Air flights, tour and trekking programmes, festivals, places of interest, hotels etc can be obtained from the tour operators.

Visa Formalities

Other than Indian, Bangladeshis and Maldivian nationals, all visitors to Bhutan require a visa; all visas are issued from Thimphu; visas are only issued to tourists booked with a local licensed tour operator, directly or through a foreign travel agent. Applications for tourist visas are submitted by the tour operator. Visa clearance from Thimphu must be obtained before coming to Bhutan. Visa clearance takes at least 10 days to process. Air tickets to Bhutan cannot be purchased without visa clearance. At your point of entry the visa will be stamped in your passport on payment of US$40, two passport photos will also be required. Visas are issued for a 15 day period; extensions can be obtained in Thimphu at a cost of Nu.510.

Cancellations

Tour Programmes booked and subsequently cancelled shall be subject to cancellation charges as follows:
within 30 days of start of programme ~ no charges
within 21 days ~ 10% of rate
within 14 days ~ 15% of rate
within 7 days ~ 30% of rate
less than 7 days or without notice ~ 50% of rate
after arrival in Bhutan ~ 100%

Delayed Arrivals

There is no charge for delays in arrival and departure because of weather conditions disrupting flights or road blocks. The tourist must however bear the cost of food, accommodation, transportation, and other services required.

Note: INR (Indian Rupees) denominations of 500 and 1000 are not accepted in Bhutan.

Visa Exemption Visit to China

Visa Exemption for Pearl River Delta Region Visa Free To China

Visitors travelling in a group, upon arrival in Hong Kong, can get a group Visa or 144-hour Convenient Visa to travel to Guangdong Province. This is a separate piece of paper (not attached to any passport), which requires that group members enter and exit China together.

Foreign visitors in Hong Kong can visit Guangdong Province for a maximum of 144 hours (6 days) via entry ports in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen, Zhaoqing, Huizhou and Shantou. There is a choice of ports of entry or exit in Guangdong Province but you must enter and leave the areas together via the above-stated ports of entry.

Applications & Conditions:

l Visitors must join a tour group organized by a registered Hong Kong or Macau Travel Agent and must travel in group consisting of a minimum 3 people and a maximum of 40 people.

l The group you have joined is organized by a registered travel agency.

l You are a citizen holding a passport issued by one of the nations with diplomatic relations with China.

l You don’t have any intentions on staying in the Pearl River Delta Region for more than 6 days.

Visa Exemption for Hainan

The provincial government of Hainan issued a preferential policy granting visa exemption to tourists holding private passports from 26 countries to promote tours in Hainan with duration of 21 days.

Applicable to passport holders of the following countries:

Australia, Austria, Canada, Denmark, France, Finland, Germany, Great Britain, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Kazakstan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Singapore, Thailand, USA and Ukraine.

Applications & Conditions:

l Foreign tour groups consisting of no less than five people can make their entry into Hainan by filling in a group name list instead of individual registration form of entry and exit.

l The travel agencies hosting the tour groups must submit the name list of tourists to Hainan to the related frontier inspection stations and public security departments at least 24 hours prior to the group's entry at the port.

l Agency staff must go with the approved name list to meet the tour group at the port.

Beijing and Shanghai 72 Hour Visa Free Transit

On 5th December 2012, the Beijing Municipality announced that from the 1st January 2013
Beijing will have a 72 hour visa free policy which is open to a limited 45 counties. This policy allows foreigners landing in Beijing but destined for other countries, 72 hours to roam around the city without having to apply for a Visa. Shanghai has also extended their Visa free stay from 48 hours to 72 hours.

Applicable to passport holders of the following countries:

European Countries: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Holland, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Russia, United Kingdom, Ireland, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Romania and Ukraine.

America

: United States of America, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and Chile

Oceania: Australia and New Zealand

Asia: Korea, Japan, Singapore, Brunei, The United Arab Emirates and Qatar.

Applications & Conditions

l Travelers to Beijing must have a valid passport, ticket and appropriate Visa for the final destination can land at Beijing Capital airport without an entry visa.

l Travelers to Shanghai must have a valid passport and correct travel documents can land at Pudon Airport or Hongqiao Airport without an entry visa.

l You must register with the local police station within 24 hours on arrival.

l Visitors cannot leave for other cities during this 72 hour period.
