After cutting a vessel off the potters wheel there is always a thin disc of clay left behind. I use a metal rib to scrap the clay off the wheel and sometimes, with the right amount of centrifugal force - hand coordination, this lovely abstraction is created. It's most satisfying. I was collecting them for awhile, but am uncertain of what to do with them.

I've been meaning to read DeWaal's family memoir, The Hare with the Amber Eyes. He won the Costa prize for this biography which also happened to be V&A magazine's book of the year, 2010. The new ceramic galleries really are remarkable.

ESPN called it "the most riveting episode in the sport's history." The Tie-break is a reenactment of the legendary fourth set tie-break from the 1980 Wimbledon Finals between Björn Borg and John McEnroe as performed by the artists Tibi Tibi Neuspiel and Geoffrey Pugen. The artists will attempt throughout the night to recreate the event as faithfully as possible, experimenting with mediating a historical event through hourly performances. The Tie-break celebrates the game and allegorically explore the relationship between conservatism and risk in the economic square.

A day in the Scottish countryside.

This place is heaven. Multiple buildings and outdoor tables crowded with glorious junk, and the most beautiful landscape I have thus far experienced. Our day of indulgence ended with meat pies in a perfect small town pub.

Edinburgh is a beautiful city with an amazing botanical garden. Inverleith House, located in the center of the gardens, had a very charming exhibition up of John Hope's illustrations paired with a contemporary exhibition on the ground floor. Besides their excellent programming, the building itself is worthwhile seeing. I loved Scotland so much. We again only had 2 days here. My next post will include photos from our day trip to Montrose for antiquing and an afternoon walk on the beach.
