The Supermoon

I really wanted to take a photo of the supermoon, but because of the type of photographer I am, I don’t really have any super-telephoto lenses. But I still wanted a shot of the moon, so I decided to go the opposite. I went really wide and found this cool angle under the pier.

Our good friend and pastor Anthony suggested we visit the Taco Shack on our next date night. It was great!

When we got back to our apartment we saw this awesome snake in the parking lot. At least I thought it was awesome.

Jared+Caitlin: Ponce Inlet Engagement Photography

We met Jared very shortly after moving down to Florida and he has quickly become a great friend to us. We were also at the same social event that Jared began pursuing Caitlin. It is really cool to have seen their relationship from the beginning.

My favorite people in the world are people that are really passionate about what they love. Jared works in television and loves everything about TV. Caitlin works for Beach Patrol and loves everything about the ocean. They are really awesome people who are perfect for each other, and I can’t wait to see where their journey takes them.

We started the shoot in Abraxas Books which is a really cool little bookstore right in downtown Daytona. The owner there was great and had no problem with us shooting in his place.

After the book store we wandered around Beach Street a little bit shooting in some of the alleys and streets.

One of my favorite things about this shoot is I got to use some external flash. I have been wanting to for awhile but never really had the opportunity. Used the right way, it can give some awesome drama to certain photos.

Simon, my assistant, liked the looks of this Museum and thought it would be cool to get a shot in front of it. He was right!

As the sun started to get a little bit lower, wer headed down to Ponce Inlet to get some pictures by the beach. It was a beautiful day to shoot.

We stood here for like 10 minutes waiting for the perfect wave to crash.

Under the Pier

I know posts have been lacking a little bit recently. I have been really busy though and will have some great stuff to post really soon. In the mean time I thought I would share a picture from a couple weeks back of the Daytona Pier. I woke up super early to get the sunrise and I got some pictures that I like a lot. The beach is a cool place to live.

VSCO Cam

So VSCO Cam was finally released yesterday. It is probably one of the most anticipated iPhone camera apps ever based on the popularity of Visual Supply Company’s other product, VSCO Film. I have been using VSCO Film since it’s release late last year and when I heard they were making an app I got really excited.

Well it is here and it is beautiful. It gives iPhone shots a light, simple, film look that is wonderful. It doesn’t cake on layers like many other iPhone apps and the photos out of it are stunning.

I wanted to give it a test run so I took a few shots at a park near by just to see what it could do. Have you tried it yet? What do you think?

Last friday we were at a pool party at our friends house. I had my flash and soft-box, in the car and had literally just received my wireless triggers right before heading to the party. I noticed the sunset starting to look really cool and decided I wanted to do something with it.

I set up my light and camera and took the first shot, and I am pretty sure I giggled like a little girl. This is really the first time I have used off-camera flash like this and it blew me away with how cool it looked.

I am really excited to start using lighting like this in some of my portrait sessions.

I took some pictures of my other friends too. You can see the rest of the shots here.

Of course he had to jump in…

And his shirt had to come off…
